This is so true! When I was cycling on Shooters Hill road near the Blackwall southern approach going towards Oxleas Woods So many drivers were overtaking beeping and honking their horns because the driver behind me was being patient letting me take primary. The road was a 30mph which probably explained the aggression as when a road is 30mph and a cars goes 20mph drivers start screaming behind. What’s worse is that the road had 3 lanes. Instead of taking accountability for not planning ahead they take it out on the patient driver behind me. It really gets on my nerves when drivers rev the nuts off their cars and beep making so much hostile and unnecessary noise. Then they have the audacity to complain about 20mph limits and cycle lanes. “The government wants us out of our cars”. To be fair that isn’t a bad thing as it will put the NHS under less strain.

They think "I have been doing this for x number of years and never have caused an accident so it must be perfectly safe" and extrapolate their personal experience onto the whole population. Becasue you are distracted. Esp if it is a work question, as an example, thinking about work will make you distracted. If you are talking with another vehicle occupant, they will most likely pause the conversation such as a busy junction.
