There’s one in Olimar’s shipwrecked tale next to a part where plunder palace (breadbug cave) is and moss can’t get up there so you pretty much have to use explosives
I go with the theory that the Submerged Castle is like that due to a mix of factors: First, the Waterwraith is implied to be connected to the Plasma Wraith somehow, second Olimar remarks in the Piklopedia that the Waterwraith didn't seem like a living being more like a weird dimensional being, third is the idea that the Submerged Castle happens once the captains are worn and tired from their expedition and are starting to hallucinate while in the caverns. So all those factors tied together makes the Submerged Castle feel more like an Eldritch horror than a standard cave.
Very nice video, chief. I havent seen much on Pikmin 4, so to discover some of my favs made an HD return makes me excited to try and get it. Shame some enemies arent present like mr. Rolly Lobster and my boy Dirigibug but ya cant have everything! 😊

Gatling Groink can damage enemies to with the shots. Man-at-Legs will shoot to a nearest captain and pikmin for bait. Wollywogs and Yellow Wollywogs are easily baitable by captain moving spots where it cannot be attacking pikmin. In pikmin 2 Wollywogs can be stunned by Purple pikmin if they are not in the water.

Agree on Male Sheargrubs. They are very annoying. They are really only a threat if you don't pay attention to them (i.e. Pikmin carrying something out of sight) but there always seems to be that one time in a Pikmin game where they get you.
39:26, fun little tidbit about the Tusked Blowhog, is that if they get a hold of Pikmin with their jaws, which I noticed rarely happens in my playthrough of the game, they are an enemy that can actually crush rock pikmin in their jaws, I was so suprised the first time it happened to me
1:33:50 And those, right there, are my exact main problems with Pikmin 4. The auto lock-on, the enemies being too easy, and the fact that they don't respawn really stinks!
With skutterchucks, I’ve found out that by positioning yourself correctly against them, you can get them to throw the rocks at themselves and instantly die. I learned this back in 2015
So in Pikmin 2 caves, once you get the fists upgrade, I usually just kill Cannon Bulborbs with Olimar/Louie and don't even bring Pikmin. Let their rocks kill other enemies then kill them with the Captains.
So I had a random group of red Pikmin kill a Creeping Chrysanthemum that respawned in Awakening Woods on Pikmin 2 (actually one in your picture) and I had forgot about respawn when group was carrying something. I came by and found enough Pikmin dead that they couldn't carry it anymore but saw the dead Creepy Chrysanthemum next to them.
I remember the fact that I actually avoided doing the Submerged Castle until after finishing the debt repayment, and even then I used cheats to give myself infinite bitter sprays to deal with the Waterwraith. I don't know why, but the first time I encountered it I just sprayed the hell out of it over and over again. It eventually just vanished for no apparent reason, following minutes of being unable to move. I think it got annoyed with being stunlocked, since it never showed up again until the obligatory boss fight on the last floor
Of the numerous critters we've met over the years my favorites have to be the Snagrets, they fascinate me, and I'm sincerely hoping that a future entry formerly introduces us to the Snarrows.
I would honestly swap the joustmite and cloaking burrownet. The burrownet is much easier to kill. Swarm it’s front which I can personally always do. It stabs one of my Pikmin but I always kill it before it eats any. Might be preference.
I always thought the burrownit was more annoying imo. I could never swarm it properly until after it attacked one of my Pikmin and they would end up dying. I never played the Switch version, only the Gamecube one so maybe it's easier there
What if they made a multiplayer pikmin game where one team spawns and controls the monsters while trying to stop the other who controls pikmin? Similar to Left 4 Dead?
Thank you for validating my feelings on the auto-lock on and Oatchi. At best the auto lock on makes things too unnecessarily easy, and at worst it gets in the way if trying to throw pikmin at stuff when there's a bunch of targets. And Oatchi, of course, is just too strong. Enough that when I replay 4 I plan on refusing to use Oatchi for anything where he isnt explicitly required.
Greater spotted jellyflot can suck you up because you have a gear that makes you immune to geating blown away or suck up just go to gear and remove it and then they can suck you up
the only thing i dont like about pikmin 4 is that the enemies dont respawn in the map and the 10th level of the sage leaf but thats probably a skill issue from me
I feel the waterwraith was massively downgraded due to oatchi and the slowness, Oatchi makes it easy to keep pikmin togather. but my favorite parts of pikmin 4 were when I accidentally started a cave and lost most of my pikmin making me work with 30 pikmin and think how to do it safely and quickly, which made caves feel so much more tense... side tagent fuck auto targeting, and the fact that the damn empress bulblaxes that somehow hit me to the damn ground when I was 20 feet above her and how she killed my whole squad.she didn't help leave a good impression on me in pikmin 4
Two words. BOMB ROCKS when I played Pikmin 4 I used some bomb rocks (and maybe trakinators?) and never needed to use a single Pikmin for the final encounter with the empress bulblax
@@kirbywithheadphones1539 Understandable but to me that would be too easy and boring I would rather not give the pleasure of using items against a useless boss, so I came back with only ice pickmin and purples and killed her in a two cycle via freezing her and killing her mostly like that

btw, the reason the frog enemies were renamed to Wollyhops in the EU and now all other regions is because it is one letter away from being a racial slur in the UK and Ireland, Which is why I would usually avoid using its old US name
About this 43:30 in Pikmin you were able to save a Pikmin that was caught by a Male Sheargrub by hitting it directly with a throw. Same thing applied ti the Shearwigs, granted it’s hard to even get a direct aim (unless playing new play controls)
38:22 you can chuck bombs into their mouth doing a one shot! I actually discovered that on my own and its how russ ran out of materials to make bombs every single time i went back to camp.

The snootwackers can knock back bombs, I tried exploding them with a bomb rock once, it didn’t go well
oof
Tbh you could have added Louie after The smokey prog.
Dude single handedly harassed an entire ecosystem
I feel like the pikmin 1 emperor bulblax should've been higher on the list considering he can wipe out your entire team with one attack if you don't know what you're doing.
The gildemander can also do the same thing as well
@@zcarp8642true but only if your pikmin are attacking a piece of gold that it is attempting to recover. despite this i do not believe it is that dangerous, due to the fact that you probably wouldnt leave your pikmin attacking it anyways
@@zoidslayer81real
I guess you have a point
Not to mention, the jump attack can 2-shot you. So if you're careless and don't heal at the ship, you can very easily be given a Captain Down.
You know he’s a chad when he includes the Ujadani. 7:38
Can’t wait to watch this all in one sitting
Update. Great watch
Now I now this video is going to be good
About Honeywisps dropping Mitites, this only happens in Pikmin 2 because every egg has a 5% chance to contain 10 Mitites. Mitites are fixed spawns in 4 so Honeywisps can never drop them. (Source: Pikipedia)
The titan isn’t the only final boss you kill the emperor in 1 gets killed
i'd like to see it as him barfing up Olimar's Safe and then burrowing back into the ground, waiting to emerge once again
5:25 ngl when I first saw this thing I was terrified of it since big beasts tend to be deadly, but after fighting one you realize they are barely a threat
6:02 This one I saw it, and instantly likened it to the female version, never saw it do anything other than run in terror from my Pikmin so when I first heard it actually did something I was surprised
One of my favorite things about this franchise is the sheer variety of enemies. Thanks for all the work you put into this video!
Actually you do kill the final boss in the first game as well.
13:48 The Snootwhackers can be flipped over with bombs, and the younger Snootwhacker can’t kill pikmin directly
14:18 You Probably broke the crystal previously before you recorded it
38:28 Glow Pikmin can swim in mud
42:25 Don’t forget that fiery blowhogs did like a quarter of Olimar’s Health
48:10 there is a spot in pikmin 2 (I think it’s The Valley of repose or awakening wood) that mitites are guaranteed to spawn
48:15 you can kill them with other types but it’s unoptimal
58:27 The Roar always panicked pikmin
1:00:46 You can’t auto lock onto the legs
1:04:12 you can whistle your pikmin if you stun it
1:04:50 Plasm should be higher for the sole reason that it’s near impossible to beat deathless
Agree on Male Sheargrubs. They are very annoying. They are really only a threat if you don't pay attention to them (i.e. Pikmin carrying something out of sight) but there always seems to be that one time in a Pikmin game where they get you.
The Crusted Rumpup is called the Crusted Rumpup because its rump is up
0:17 auto aim is both a blessing and a curse. You can auto aim, but on the downside, you auto-aim.
Love the video, well thought out and I love your calm voice. I agree with everything.
Anyone else accidentally think the 64 NSO updated at 27:34? XD
39:26, fun little tidbit about the Tusked Blowhog, is that if they get a hold of Pikmin with their jaws, which I noticed rarely happens in my playthrough of the game, they are an enemy that can actually crush rock pikmin in their jaws, I was so suprised the first time it happened to me
I like the harmless and/or redundant enemies for worldbuilding. Feeling alive and real is a big part of Pikmin's appeal to me.
The Pikmin 2 Bulbear and Gatling Groink are my arch nemesis I hate that mf lol
Good
So I had a random group of red Pikmin kill a Creeping Chrysanthemum that respawned in Awakening Woods on Pikmin 2 (actually one in your picture) and I had forgot about respawn when group was carrying something.
30:11 “thankfully that never happens because I’m so good at this game*
Meanwhile the blue Pikmin in the background: 😑😧👻😑👻👻👻
Of the numerous critters we've met over the years my favorites have to be the Snagrets, they fascinate me, and I'm sincerely hoping that a future entry formerly introduces us to the Snarrows.
People say burrowing snaggrets are pretty easy but MAN these guys were annoying in pikmin 2
just looked it up and apparently "wog" is used as a racist term in England
huh
I really want the Grubchucker buffed. It's such a cool design and it could've been a fun challenge if the eating period wasn't so easily interrupted.
So the slurper kills pikmin inside them... during the time that pikmin die anyways if they're away from the group or ship... so nothing
Porquillon is annoying because you just have to sit and wait on it to shoot multiple quells before you attack. It just drags out the fight.
Greater spotted jellyflot can suck you up because you have a gear that makes you immune to geating blown away or suck up just go to gear and remove it and then they can suck you up
very relaxing to watch coz im jus bored
the only thing i dont like about pikmin 4 is that the enemies dont respawn in the map and the 10th level of the sage leaf but thats probably a skill issue from me
Bruh your character in Pikmin 4 is the EXACT same as mine lol, even the double purple hair and spacesuit
the sire hound is a joke if you just have oatchi destroy the hazards, I killed him first time using only like 70 purples and didn't lose any
The colored bud things that chamge your pikmin's type are considered bosses btw
@@kirbywithheadphones1539 Understandable but to me that would be too easy and boring I would rather not give the pleasure of using items against a useless boss, so I came back with only ice pickmin and purples and killed her in a two cycle via freezing her and killing her mostly like that
31:03 It’s snow-FAKE, surprisingly.
so it is, i can't read
I literally read the thumbnail as "Homeless" before re reading it to realize it said harmless 😭
33:53 AND HE’S STOLEN A DRAGON EGG! YOU’VE GOT TO TRACK HIM DOWN AND GET THAT EGG!! RUN!! RUN!!!!
Glad someone got that reference
@@cplegogame25 Spyro 1 was the first game I ever beat and hearing it being mentioned anywhere always makes me happy. Also yeah, those trees in Misty Bog always used to scare the crap out of me… Those and the big gnorc in the tunnel in Dark Hollow
(wheeze) I'm getting a little winded...
Just want to point out that in pikmin 1, if the sheargrubs grab a pikmin they arent immune to death. If you threw a pikmin on its head as it was eating a pikmin, then it would die instantly, at least in the switch version
They changed it to wollyhop because the other name sounds like a racist slur
I think he forgot that the brace boots stop bubbles and heavy winds from effecting him, every wind effect can effect the captain to my knowledge
Do brace boots count as a cheese tactic against enemies like jellyfloats like using purples cause they’re immune to winds as well?
Oh yeah, I forgot the boots in Pikmin 4 prevent captains from being sucked up by enemies. I knew they weren’t blown back by wind though. I don’t think bubbles apply though
Funny thing 15:42 about these dudes i had one throw its rock on itself and it died instantly
Hey guys, I’m starting to think this guy doesn’t like auto lock on
I really feel like freezing should act like a weaker dance gas where it takes like a second or two for the pikmin to unfreeze when you whistle them. Feels really insignificant the way it is now
How dare you not record the giant bred bug I love me a good big slice of bread bug
I want to add the fact that in Pikmin 3 you can destroy the Aristocrabs claw with a wollywog jumping on it. Always satisfying to pull off
21:50 The reason for the rename is because the word "wog" is a racist slur in the UK and Australia. I think they just renamed it so it would always be consistent in English.
Oh dang
It would be cool to see a foolix but instead of looking like nectar, it looks like ultra spicy spray
they changed the name to wollyhop because wog was a racial slur
Based and dandori-pilled. And i agree that the only real flaw that absolutely needs to change is the auto lock on.
as a lone anode beetle I'd like to thank you for acting to raise public awareness of the plight of anode beetles everywhere. it is time society learns to move beyond the stigma lone anode beetles have been forced to suffer under in the past
IM GOING TO SAY IT THE PUFFSTOOL IN PIKMIN 1 LOOKS LIKE AN APPLE
btw, the reason the frog enemies were renamed to Wollyhops in the EU and now all other regions is because it is one letter away from being a racial slur in the UK and Ireland, Which is why I would usually avoid using its old US name
Oof, that sucks to hear
About this 43:30 in Pikmin you were able to save a Pikmin that was caught by a Male Sheargrub by hitting it directly with a throw. Same thing applied ti the Shearwigs, granted it’s hard to even get a direct aim (unless playing new play controls)
38:22 you can chuck bombs into their mouth doing a one shot! I actually discovered that on my own and its how russ ran out of materials to make bombs every single time i went back to camp.
Moss in the annoying tier list 💀 I feel vilified
A sad fact about the anode beetle, unlike pikmin 2, which are often several of them in several caves, the anode beetles in pikmin 4 have a total of only 7 of them in the entire game….
I'd put the normal Dwarf Bulborb above the others as in Pikmin 1 it can wake the big Bulborb up, and are used alongside other enemies more effectively
