Mike is amazing, and Jack's face when he correctly guessed the RD-2000 was priceless 😄
I know... Right. He recognized every attribute of that keyboard like it was an ex-Girlfriend 😂
It's easy to guess the Roland because they have an amazing keybed that feels like nothing else (at least that I've played). I'd be shocked if he DIDN'T guess one was a Roland (and presumably the top tier RD2000).
LOVE my RD-2000. Grew up playing a Steinway grand. The action is solid and for playing live there is an awesome palette of sounds. I play in a smooth jazz band and a 80's cover band, nothing I can't play on the RD.
The fact that you didn't edit out the Roland thing shows that you are honest towards your audience. That adds up a lot towards the credibility of your channel.
Fr, despite what that part could do to their Roland sales
I could listen to Mike play for hours. What an artist.
He took that CP straight to church!!!! Love it!!!!
Do You Know What song that is?
@@tay7446 Me also want to know please
I know!! Can't stop listening to that particular section. He played that Casio super well, too!
The last 30 sec sounded to me like "make me a house of prayer" by Eddie James, but can't tell for sure.
Not only does Mike play incredibly, he also identifies keyboards by their scent :-)
I have that weird feeling that if Mike would play a 99 cent plastic keyboard I would still love it.
The way he guessed the RD 2000 is priceless 😅😅😅
Mike at his finest today with the Yamaha CP, i wish one day he plays his own classical music concert
How on earth does he play like that, blindfolded. It’s incredible. Especially the playing on that Casio.
Mike Patrick is AMAZING ! send him my best regards!
Mike makes every single one sound priceless! What a legend 👏🏻👏🏻
Just think about what Japan have done as a country for music. Roland. Yamaha. Casio. Korg. Kawai. Akai. Technics. Tokai. Takamine. Ibanez. The list goes on. There are many great music companies, but Japan stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of contribution.
We all owe that place an enormous debt of gratitude.
M: Have I got 30 seconds?
Everyone: All the time in the world, homie.
Oh my LORD!!! Mike makes everything sound expensive 🤦🏾♂️💯🔥👏🏾
Jack’s face when Mike didn’t put Nord as his #1 choice 16:55🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’ve got a CP 88, best keyboard I’ve ever owned and I use it every Sunday at church 👏🏾🔥
Yessir! I have the YC88 and will refuse to play the nord at church. I bring my YC everywhere because anything else just feels terrible.
Love the CP88!
Well Jack's a Nord guy so 😁😁😁😁
These pianos are well above my price range. I honestly came her to watch Mike play
The ck 88 has the same pianonsounds as the cp88
@@marcusstrymon693 That is indeed true, but the action isn't nearly as good. I chose the CP over the CK solely for that reason.
@@thenetworkmystery Yep. BUT what I find really scammy is that the action for the CP73 is the same as the CK but none graded.
TBH if it was for action I would then choose the YC88 soley because it has CP88 action but I adore the layerability and hands on features from CK, especially for organ.
I think the CK user interface and layerability/accessability and tweakability is by far the best and better than YC. I was thinking about selling my ck 88 and getting a yc61 because I get the old upright from my grandma for weighted BUT tbh I cannot kive without the CK interface anymore.
A YC sound CK user interface combo would be madness
I always love to hear this anointed brother play. Mike you have an amazing gift from god! I encourage you to keep blessing people with your gift! I just thank god for you my brother. Be blessed on purpose!
When he started playing the cp88 I was like I think he’s going to love this one. He spent a long time playing it.
Respect to Mike for playing so beautifully and with blacked out goggles on!!
I know EXACTLY what he means about feeling the connection with the keybed. It is something that reviews just cannot describe for each person. You really have to go somewhere where they have every keyboard and try for yourself to see which ones feel right. I compared every high end and low end stage keyboards, and the CK-88 was pure perfection for me. It just had any sound I wanted to play easily, and the connection between the key action and the samples clicked for me.
@08:13 + Watched from the start but at this point this was it- CP hands down. My , what an instrument, no wonder Mike just becomes (for lack of a better word) enchanting! BTW that Casio is an unexpected revelation too (superb natural piano sound).
went I tried out a bunch of digital pianos in that kinda price range I ended up on the Korg SV2. The Roland action is very particular and didn't quite gel for me, I was also close to dropping on the Yamaha P515. It was great, but then I heard the Italian Grand piano voice in the SV2 and gelled with the action and looks.
When you're in this price range it becomes so personal. They're all great in their own way and you find the one you prefer to play. At some point you have to go to a shop and play them because all the youtube vids aren't enough to make the decision.
I had both the Nord Piano 5 and the Casio PXS7000 (white) I have to agree with MP, I really liked Casio's keybed. but I really really loved Nord's piano sound so much more. So I got rid of the Casio. (donated to a music charity/organization here in L.A, they distribute to schools that can't afford them) I wished the Piano 5 had Casio's keybed. Really good. I still have the Nord btw.
The clarity, ring and drop off of the Nord p5 is insane!!!
So... 3 things I Learned in this video
1)What a Brilliant upload!
2)'Magic' Mike is beyond amazing.
3) 'Untouchable' Nord got a bit of a slap in this acoustic Piano sound-off.... (Yes. I know it is totally subjective).
I don’t want to be that guy or a prisoner of the moment but I’ve easily watched 50+ of your videos & this may be my favorite. Top 3 at the very least. Damn that dude is ridiculous!!!
I love this. Our keyboard preferences line up exactly in this video. CP/YC are the absolute top dogs in action/samples/workspace. This shows that Nord is falling behind in making a major action/sample improvements. Roland has remained completely underwhelming/unchanged while Casio passes them by. Incredible.
I wonder tho if the YC really beats the hammond models
I just love listening to mr Patricks playing, it's sublime!
How about a video on getting your sound to a stereo monitor and a PA? Some Di boxes, pre-amp, mixers, whatever?
Native Instruments Noire (by Nils Frahm) beats them all. You just need Kontakt and a good midi weighted keyboard.
No I'm not working for NI :)
You’d never be bored being able to play like that. Also Mikes fingers are a fascinating watch!
Mike and Yamaha are born one for another... I never heard a Yamaha sound so good
I absolutely loved the way he played. Im gonna follow him everywhere i can find him😁.
Just beautiful!
As always beautiful playing from Mike. I just love the chemistry between them. 💯
I've had a RD-2000 and they sound/feel great to me. everyone has their own preferences.
That yamaha made Mike pull out a hymn! 👏🏾🤣
These series with Mike playing are sooo much fun, high quality, good vibes & let's not forget about that supernatural 4th finger of the Mike's right hand, having the range of motion that defies all laws of nature! Awesome!
Pro is pro! Always great to listen and also see Mike playing. Amazing!
Better than anything on TV! More please! Thanks guys.....
I love these videos and Mike is the perfect player for them.💯
You'd have added the Kurzweil K 2700, then no question which is the winner...
I love how polite you guys are to each other. What a breathe of fresh air and again, great playing by Mike
Always a treat to hear Mike Patrick play - really enjoyed this Shootout! I am currently looking for a new keyboard amp - would love to see a shootout of some of those and hear how different keyboard amps perform using a selection of tones - not just piano, but a variety of some synth sounds too.
You could tell he loved the Yamaha. That was just incredible to watch him get so into how it feels to play. It brought the music out of him.
Mike Patrick, as always, makes these machines sound great. Thanks for the comparison.
nice episode man! This is my first time watching your chanel! Keep make this kind of content! I enjoy it so much! Nice play mike! Made me cry 😢😢😢
I love my CP88. I’ve been jonesing about somehow getting a Stage 5, but this video helps me feel I can put that off a bit longer. Forever? Unlikely, but definitely for a few more seasons on my fantastic Yamaha CP88 workhorse.
Same here brother! To get some more options with synths and pads I like to plug in my laptop with Ableton. I put a midi controller on the CP88, which gives me extra control over the sound. That’s the only part I miss with the CP88. Have a good one!
A most enjoyable video - and I love my Yamaha YC very much :)❤
Mike. My man. Your playing on the third board: it was so effing brilliant without being showy. Tasteful, intriguing and beautiful.
Loved this. That's Mike off the Christmas card list at Roland😁 I'm ready for the organ showdown.
I love how mike gets lost in the playing
Just playing freely & how he feels in that moment is truly worth watching
The CP Demonstration was one for the books for me
Casio gave an old soft jazz feel!
What an incredible pianist you are!
I own the CP88 and also the Studiologic numa x piano GT. The CP88 feels cheap when compared to the Numa GT. I am not saying the cp88 is a bad action. Is just that the studiologic feels very premium. I still like the piano tones better on the cp88.
Great playing !
I have a Nord and a Roland, and I am always coming back to the Roland with its heavy action.
Yeah the Roland action can be a love not so great action. I miss it when I play other keyboards at times but then it does get fatiguing if you play heavy handed. Something about it makes me want to do so. I have consciously play with less force.
I love these!
Outstanding! Hi from Réunion Island.
To my ears; the Roland sounds significantly better than any of the others.
Wow Mike is amazing
Gotta be best mike's vid so far man
amazing idea
The boyz are back in town
👍
Pleasantly surprised with the Casio honestly 🔥🔥
9:25 My brother Jack was somewhere when those chords were happening, love it when music moves.
Great video! I feel like Mike P. will always find the Yamaha, while Dan B will find the Nord. These guys mostly know what they’re playing! It’s not exactly as challenging as Napoleon D. taste testing the milk!
Love the videos! Awesome playing Mike!!
Would be interesting to midi their preference keybed to the other keyboards to see if things change. Or mix up the keybeds and keyboard sound. Ex put him on the RD with the Nord sounds. 😀
@@GospelMusic4Life Exactly! There are so many variables to the ‘best’ stage piano. Change the voice, the reverb, the keybed velocity setting, the studio monitors and might have total different outcome. But great players with great selection of pianos is always entertaining- even if the blindfold only appears to make it non-biased.
Hardly surprising as Mike is a Yamaha artist but as always fantastic playing
one word mehn.. amazing! ✌️✊💯
Nice touch man.
Greetings from Madrid.
Amazing episode 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 please do a video with 61 keys workstation keyboards. Mike played superbly🎶🎶
I was a keyboard tech for 36 years. The Nord brand was the most reliable of them all. Super well built instruments. Although tonally my favorite to play were always Yamaha keyboards. But Yamaha had a recurring failure of the key switch contacts and circuit boards. I got the impression they did not know the cause. The repairs were covered under warranty. The parts were back ordered for months during the COVID crisis.
As for the various actions, they all will have issues if you are a hard player. My sense is that manufacturers are trying to emulate the heavy feel of a 9 foot concert grand. None of them to my taste have a light quick touch.
Never had any issues with the action of my Roland keyboards. And I'm a hard player (I break strings in pianos). The Roland RD-700NX has the best (and hardest) action I've played (on a non-acoustic).
Roland finally changed the design of the hammers by increasing the plastic to go over the sharp metal on the key weights. So instead of sharp metal slamming the cushion, there is now rounded plastic. I made a living for 35 years repairing all the poor keyboard designs.
Honestly I can't say much about these stage pianos, I have a Kawai CA which is a couple years old and I'd love to hear how Mike would rate it against these newer models. I'm mostly commenting so that others would see this video and hear Mike play, so so beautiful! Thank you.
Everybody is impressed with the new action on Px-S5000/6000/7000.
Px-s5000 should be a nice midi controller.
I've never related more to anyone than in that moment when Mike told the story about the RD-2000. The church that I play for has an RD-2000 and I feel the same as he does lol
I had to play a Roland RD700 for awhile at my church and the sample switching was terrible. It was borderline unplayable because the tone/texture of the notes were all over the place.
We have a Nord Stage 3 76 now and it’s solid but by far and away my favorite Keyboard Piano I’ve ever used is the Yamaha CP88.
It’s the only keyboard piano sound I’ve felt for in a mic without layers and tons of tweaking. Truly remarkable.
I like Casio and they are probably bang for buck the best.
@@ChurchWorshipandvideo what's funny is, the Casio is actually more expensive than CP88 at least here in my country. The CP88 being the cheapest out of 4 in this video, and RD 2000 being the second most expensive. Can't blame Casio for listing it a bit higher than CP88 tho, cause it comes with stand, and pedals. And man, doesn't it look so gorgeous..
aye, guys, U R the best... and Mike on the CP88... well, top of the tops! thx!
Mike has a God given talent, i salute you sir.🙌
Plus 20 years of experience
Wow!
That keyboard player is amazing. Outstanding
Thank you Jack, Mike and Tête 😎
Dope video
Best chops in the business - spider hands 🙌
Both these guys???!!!!! Incredible playing
4th. Mike Patrick is an amazing musician
I have the casio px-s6000, same dimension as the px-s7000 here. Those other stage keys are nice, but mahoosive tanks. Whereas mine sits nicely on my pc desk, with the keybed at a good height
Loved this vid. I also love my Yamaha CP!!! 🙌🏼
I think it's great that the Nord feels expensive. It is and it should and it's good for Nord that it does.
My pick is the Yamaha. It has a treble that sings beautifullyh and that seems the haredest area to get correct on a digital. THe Casio sounds muddy compared to the other. However it is livable.
This world is crazy people having all these fance keyboards am straggling to get a prastice one my God
The CP definitely sounds the best to my ears, but the piece Mike plays on the RD-2000 was lovely, despite his protestations. 😂
You could see he was enjoying the CP way more while playing it, though.
I prefer the Yamaha too and I'm thinking to get one for me. But if he play the Vienna Grand instead os Steinway Grand on Casio... 🔥🔥🔥
Just came back from Guitar Center playing lots of electric piano, and I'll rate these 4 as such : Key Action - CASIO PX-S7000> Yamaha CP88 > Nord Piano 5 > Roland RD-2000, and Piano Sound - Yamaha CP88 > Nord Piano 5 > Roland RD-2000 > CASIO PX-S7000
I actually rate the Roland key action higher; a lot of the keybed feel is also how the sound responds to the keyboard input. I feel like the German Grand expansion made the RD-2000 play in a different league. Anyone who tried this who can chime in?
I completely agree with you on the Roland 2000. I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling to bond with it.. 😂
I had a similar feeling. I liked the feel of the RD-2000 keybed, but was struggling to connect with the sound. However, the (non-free) v-piano expansion "German concert" made me feel the RD-2000 as a whole new instrument last time I played it. Same engine, same keybed, but way better connection between the touch and the sound, as well as a sound more towards Yamaha's open sparkling piano sound, as if somebody took a heavy cloth away from Roland's V-Piano "stage grand".
I would love to hear Mike's and other's impressions on it :-)
I agree about Casio - the singer I played with in Bali has one (older model) and I was very impressed by its piano sound (the electric pianos not so much). Very natural sounding - the built-in speakers are voiced accordingly as well.
- The Yamaha is a great all rounder - nothing to write home about but little to nitpick about.
- The Nord sounds excellent but the action is too light, borderline feels cheap.
- The Roland RD-2000 was a big letdown from the second previous model (the 700-NX) which has/had a stellar action (the best I've played on a stage piano). Roland clearly, starting with the RD-800 and then the RD-2000 tried to emulate the crappy Nord action (too many amateurs might've complained about the action of the 700-NX being too "realistic).
Whatchagonnado - can't satisfy everyone - that's why I had my Yamaha grand piano MIDI'ed. Product Managers can argue and fight all they want - they can't fuck with my piano.
It’s funny how he played church on the Yamaha like he knew it was in that motif vibe of church standard lol
omg mike patrick gorgeous playing. it was like bill evans got a wee bit gospel. inspiring
Both the CP and the Casio sounded great, but I don't know what it is about North, but it just blends so incredibly well. It's like musical magic. The Roland I did not like the sound of :)
Please don’t forget to include the new CK 61-88 for your next video of organs ❤❤❤
Mike my guyyy
That Casino has to be one of the best digital pianos I've ever heard.
Excelente ❤
