  • Some people are worth watching. Let's go for a walk together through Pudong International Airport and have a look at Shanghai Airport People and had a look, both in and out of security - a film by SnarkyGuy.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    I'm "SnarkyGuy", an American living in Shanghai. I make films about what I see in China often with uncurmudgeon-like commentary, perhaps some travel tips, a little splash of scenery, oodles of opinion, and the occasional "dad" joke.
    Occasionally I even know what I'm talking about. It's cool. I am genetically dispossessed with this sense of humor...ask my Dad.
    I've been living in Shanghai for the last two years, but by no means am I a stranger to China. Before that I was living in Southern China in Dongguan, "the Dirty D", for about 4 years. Prior to that I literally grew up in Hong Kong, moved there when I was a kid in 1991, and have been traveling around China ever since. I’d call myself a local, but my HongKonger wife would probably disagree.
    China can be a bit of a mystery, inside an enigma, playing by it's own set of clichéd rules, and often served with a side of fries while some creepy dude is rubbing your belly and commenting on how fat you are. Just roll with it, it happens (and frequently makes no sense)!
    …and yet it does! I do enjoy the challenge of trying to make sense of it all.

      About 10 years now. Sadly I'm criminally under-subbed...haha! But thank you so much.

    The portable Wifi in HongKong was better than my internet connection at home in Beijing. I wish they would have those in every airport around the world, it's so convenient!

      I've never actually taken the portable WiFi unit before, but I gotta admit that the airport WiFi is great in HK.

    The wrapping of luggage in plastic wrap is to stop quick and easy pilferage by out of sight handlers.The protective property is an added benefit.
    Is Southen Africa anyway.

    • @snarkyguy
      @snarkyguy  Рік тому

      Makes sense. Although with so many cameras everywhere, I imagine it's getting harder and harder for pilfering to take place.

      @snarkyguy You would think so.
      The handlers know exactly where the blind spots are.
      About 10 or 15 years ago, the labour unions were chalanging additional cameras being installed.

    Not sure how I missed this one, Snark! Good stuff! 'The Human Zoo Airport' where overpriced/underflavored coffee flows in abundance and iPhone10s are readily found (for the right price, of course).

    I’m looking for videos about stopovers in Asia as I’m planning to travel from Europe to Asia soon. Although there are direct flights from my city to my destination, I prefer flights with stopovers, especially those with long layovers. I just love spending time at airports!!!

      As far as airports are concerned, Shanghai has two; Pudong and Hongqiao. Neither offer an "international" feel to them when traveling through. Beijing might be a little better.

    Howdy Snarkyguy 👋.. Aww the joys of traveling 😄. Are they still asking health questions or needing some kind of health documentation?

      Oh yeah. You have to fill out this little online doc and present a QR code for entry. It's a bit annoying, but what can you do?

    You should have told those parents that had their kid doing his business over the garbage can that they have invented something called the bathroom. I also wonder what kind of person would buy or sell a fake iphone 10 in 2023?

    • @snarkyguy
      @snarkyguy  Рік тому

      As for the parents of the kid, I can't be upset with them. They're just doing what they were taught and probably didn't think much of it. I'm guessing they're from a village or something. As for the iPhone 10, well not everyone is tech-savvy and could easily fall blunder to a scam (and what better place to scam than the airport?). 能骗就骗 - if you can cheat, then cheat.
