Great video. Very clear and concise. No fluid can possibly last the lifetime of a vehicle. I don't even agree with the claims of antifreeze lasting for 100k miles. It's as if the manufacturers want to shorten the life of a vehicle so as to sell you a new car in 5 years.
I've been doing mine every 50,000 miles. Thank you for letting me know. I been following the same maintenance schedule for my 86 ford ranger and just copying it to my 15 escape
@@maintenance101-fbm8 at least i do regular maintenance, i know many people that don't even change the oil. my maintenance schedule for all three of my cars , 2002 Toyota corolla 5 speed manual, 86 square body ranger 4 5 speed manual, 15 ford escape SE automatic . my 86 ranger has no catalytic converter or muffler. it has been straight piped and the carburetor has been tuned/set to run right since there is no back pressure occurring now. -oil change every 3000 miles -transmission fluid (drain and refill, no flush) every 50,000 miles -coolant drain, flush and refill every 3 years -drive train system (rear differential, transfer case, ext.) every 50,000 miles -100,000 general tune up (plugs, coils, ext.) this is for all my cars, any suggestions to improve it. excluding what you mentioned.
Great info. Especially letting people know that there's no such thing as lifetime fluid. It's really the lifetime of the warranty. Last Summer I changed my transfer case fluid in my '19 Ranger for the first time. Judging from the amount of the metal dust in it, I should have done at about 3000 miles :(.
Hi Rich, I would very much like to know more regarding the rear diff / coupling / part between the coupling and rear diff on a 2015 era Kuga/Escape regarding service and weather or not the centre part between the coupling and diff can be serviced/oil changed.
Our Escape went in today for service. I sent along instructions so Pappy could explain we wanted the PTU serviced also. The car only has 10,000 miles. I wanted it done because this vehicle idles all the time and I don't want the oil baked and it damaged. I understand they were a little curious and looked into the servicing of them. They took care of it and it was still in good order. 👍🏼🙂🐶
Good dog! Take care of your vehicle and it'll take care of you! Plus, you get the added benefit of getting rid of the metal particles that has initially built up in there.
Thanks again! I just had mine done for the 2nd time, every 30k. At 60 now. If you think of it, can you let me know if my 17 Edge with OUT the tow package has the lower drain? It’s the 3.5 NA Duratec V6.
The 20k-30k service should be pushed by more dealers, a lot of them won't even touch it when asked to swap the fluid out, I see that all the time on the SHO/Flex/Explorer pages. I drop mine once a year in my Flex with the oil change. It's a low mileage rig being a 2015 with only 29k on it but it has been eating 500+whp for a while now and has made a boatload of 11 second passes so I figure I'm not hurting much. Still comes out discolored quite a bit.
Great additional channel Boss Man. I have a 2018 fwd escape, I did the trans fluid drain and replace at 30k and again at 35k. Super simple, drain plug in the bottom, fill plug right on top under air box. Sight plug thru wheel well. My friggin ‘19 F150 is way more complicated for this should be simple maintenance. Be well bro.
I can't speak for the other Ford vehicles, but on the Interceptor SUV, the PTU only takes a tad under one pint! It does have a cooler, but look at all the heat sources around it. I change it out at about 15-25K (beyond popular belief, police units are driven hard). You can spend the money over the life of the vehicle, or spend the big bucks all at once on major parts/components/assemblies.
I don’t want to be that guy and I’m sure you know this , but PTU stands for power transfer unit( transfer case ) . Power take off unit is a PTO running hydraulics for accessories on heavy duty trucks . Don’t want to confuse anyone
Well you did decide to be that guy so you can't say you don't want to and then do it Sometimes I make a mistake by saying that and people get what I'm saying they don't feel the need to correct me I appreciate the comment but people do make mistakes sometimes down since I put my face out there and I make usable content for people I'm going to make mistakes too
Great explanation! Now I just need to get my 2019 f150 fx4 up to you! Waiting on the “how to” video now. Thanks
Excellent video. Be Blessed.

Great info! I feel 20k miles is a maximum. My Kuga takes around 1/2 litre on a service fill.
PTU PTU's even in Ford Ranger's. Thanks alot for the intervals changes. This helped me out to. 29

The turbo 3.5 taurus/explorer are super hard to service
This maybe a stupid question but does a 2WD Escape have a PTU?
No

Yes the fluid is 75w 140 and it is 18 Oz you do have a top plug and bottom plug on the passenger side of the unit

one of the first videos of yours that i watched was the nasty ptu fluid on an escape.
Since I don’t have a drain plug on mine I pump out what I can and top off every 10-15k miles. I figure I get about half out each time
