With the illustrated change, it makes more sense to move the bike path to the other side of the bridge. I would suggest moving the curved bus stop back ageist the bike line. make the bus lane/bay a single lane road. and put a cross ride from the bus stop to the far side. on the Lorne terrace end of the stop. essentially allowing bikes to turn off at the bus stop and cross to north street. Granted i think the flyover is still the better option, even with the inflated price tag.
I think you're being a bit cavalier about the volume of traffic that comes from points west on North St. It's probably 50% or more of the traffic on the bridge.
@Hamilcar_Stronginthearm Yes, and that's really bad. The streets feeding into the Macdonald are low capacity and can never meaningfully be upgraded. Trying to dump bridge traffic into North is really inefficient and causes congestion.
