Well, just bought one thanks to your video. I'm off next week on another long distance backpack and now I can finally add some drone type footage to my UA-cam videos! 🍺🍺 Man!
@@snowymatrix keep us posted. I'm curious about the stability vs low fps. My DJI drones I have are beasts and are Lazer still when idle in air. This one looked iffy
I've brought one , turning up tomorrow.. Its a lot cheaper than a HoverAir X1 and I've decided to go drone only thing to get used to it . Maybe the camera isn't the best but it's an entry level drone .. and you get what you pay for !
Akhirnya ketemu drone yang bisa merekam mengikuti secara mandiri tanpa bantuan orang lain yang mengendalikan. Sangat menyenangkan saat dalam perjalanan atau aktivitas lapangan..
I picked one up here in Austria over Christmas, a lot of fun and excellent picture quality. It’s my first drone so I have no to to compare but the propeller’s are loud and it draws attention.
Great little toy. I hope and expect video problems to be fixed with an update. The biggest problem seen in your and other videos is overexposure in certain scenarios. This is not a problem of sensor size but simply exposure algorithm. Would have liked to see some footage in low light though. The protected propellers combined with its lightweight design will make it one of the toughest drones to survive crashes. I guess Neo 2 will be the one to get.
Awesome video Steve!!! You wrapped it up perfectly!!! It’s a going to be a toss up between the DJI Neo and the HoverAir X1 Pro Max. Looking forward to your next video
i cant se ehow you compared the DJI NEO to the HoverAirx1 Pro. Please go back and look at the HOver Pro features amybe you missed half of them clear different drone.
Thank you so much for another very informative and creative video. I have a dance ministry at my church with kids and adults, and we will be filming our dance outside next spring. I'll be saving up for this drone so I can use it to film some of the dance...so fun!!
This is what I’ve been waiting for. I use my Sony RX10 IV and DJI 3 to make my presentations. Been thinking about adding a drone and this little Neo seems the perfect fit!
I used the HoverAir X1 earlier this year, and the image quality just wasn't good enough. Looking at YOUR edited sequence with the DJI, while visually up to your usual impressive standards, you can see the colours look a little odd in some of the shots, grainy in others, and the footage is jumpy and not so smooth. So for me, proper quality needs a proper drone with a bigger sensor. I wanted to love it, as i loved the idea. But it just didn't cut it.
Great video thnks. I was thinking of buying the Hover, but the pricepoint is to steep for me (I allready have a Dji mini 4). So the 199 price of the DJI Neo convinced me. I ordered one. It’s a pity that the video quality in darker and moving-pixel-intensive surroundings suffers heavily (f.e. following the bike in the woods, at 7:00 onward), but the Hover has that exact same problem to (it seems like someone scaled up the compression, but it is probably noise…). What I like about it is that it’s a breeze to get it flying. The time it takes to gear up my Dji mini 4 (min. 5 minutes) is to long to bring it occasionally.
Hey @ludwi970 Thanks! I completely agree with all your points. There are definitely trade-offs with this drone. It's incredibly easy to use, and the setup and takeoff take just seconds, not minutes, which is a huge convenience. For the price point, it offers a lot of great features. But yes, the compromise is definitely in the image quality-it’s not on par with other DJI drones. So it really comes down to what’s more of a priority for you. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnOnlineVideoThanks for your fast reply!! Totally agree. Pricepoint is fenominal for tracking drone. Received it just now. It’s incredible small and light. Almost cute 🧸
You nailed this review. I can't believe how cheap it is for the whole set up with batteries. And the lightness! I'm very happy with my DJI Mini 3 Pro but having broken props twice due to my stupidity I'm seriously thinking this one could be the go-to for my regular hiking days, reserving the other one for days with the car to ruins and seaside perhaps.
I have an extended version of this scene that I might release which shows the drone crashing. It hovered for a while but when I got closer to hold my hand out (to make it land) it flew backwards and crashed into a tree.
07:02 is using the 'custom' setting in 'Direction track' mode. The default in follow me mode isn't that high, but if you connect to your smart phone, you can increase its altitude and it will continue to follow. Hope this helps
Thank you so much for your review of this new Dji drone! I Now really think that it should be an excellent solution in addition to my Dji Phantom 3, because I do freediving movies alone on wild spots, and due to the weight of my Phantom 3, I don’t take it anymore…
I’m in California, and USA orders ship October 8th, and don’t have an option for combo with controller. I ordered one from Amazon UK, it arrives September 10th! With the UK combo!
Awesome, got mine with the remote and batteries last week, great fun little drone I can keep in my camera bag all the time, unlike the mini 3 pro which wont fit so I have that in its own case. It needs manual exposure settings via the phone (you can do it with the remote attached), other than that its an ideal carry for fun shots!
I loved the HoverAIR X1 when it was released but thought it was too expensive for a fun drone. Now DJI has copied it at almost half the price and it's exactly the price I'm willing to spend. Awesome!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this new little drone. I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro but this may be something I would pick up for travel videos or when I have to travel lite.
What about if you use the automated movements indoors, does it have an awareness of its surrounds to still make the movement without bumping into things like ceilings and walls?
Looking forward to hearing a prop noise comparison between this and new HoverAir drones, just thinking of my many local drone haters 😅. I doubt there will be much in it!

Great review. Can you explain how the landing works? When or how does the Neo returns to our palm??
Great question! When you're using the Neo without a remote, you can pick one of the six flight presets for a pre-set flight path. You just launch the drone from your hand, and it flies off to capture the shot. Once it's finished, it flies back and hovers a few feet in front of you. Then, just hold out your hand-Neo recognises your palm and lands right on it. Hope this helps.
Great video.. what happens when you lost it during the bike? Does it just hover and stay where you are? How about on higher altitudes and lost a single does it auto home?
With Rocket Shot, you launch from the palm of your hand. The Neo then hovers above you to put you in the center of the frame, then starts recording and lifts up. You can choose to go directly up or add a rotation. The Neo will capture a shot both going up and a second shot coming back down. Once the Neo has finished recording, it will hover a few feet in front of you, and when you are ready, hold your hand out to land it. Hope this helps! Thanks, Steve
My thoughts regarding this drone is simple, I want it. Yes, after seeing your video I feel it will be useful. The problem is I couldn't find it on Amazon so far. Perhaps it is not available in India for some reason or may not be in stock temporarily.😢
Hey @cyrillehurstel, Absolutely, you can fly this indoors, and an orbit shot while playing table tennis would look awesome! Just keep an eye on the lighting-more light will really help the image look best.

Can you manually set exposure (shutter speed, WB) ? I have a Mini 3 Pro and always fly in this mode having previously set before take off. I always set infinity focus and never uses autofocus.
Thanks for the bike ride demo! It answered part of my doubt if it can shoot myself skiing (i.e. if it can catch up the speed). However, the Dji spec says it can only operate at minus 10 degrees. So, in some areas and under some cold condition, it might not work or wear down the battery fast.

I was holding off on the Hover Air Pro series as it was getting too expensive. This fills the gap perfectly for when you are travelling around and just want to get a quick shot or two without having to deploy the larger drone. They priced it so if you were on the fence it's fairly low risk to take the plunge as I just did 🫣🤣 60fps in 4K would have been perfect but I think it will be a habdy tool to have, especially if you use just with a phone while out and about 👍
How does the RTH function work if you are flying it without any controller? as many people will be flying it like this, so before flight does it give you any indication that the homepoint has been updated?
When using one of the flight presets, the drone will return to its take-off point after completing the shot. It will then hover in place until you hold out your hand, then land on your palm ✋👍

It’s such a fun piece of kit, and I’m sure you’ll get tons of use out of it! I was lucky enough to get mine a few weeks ago, and I’ve been using it almost every day since. It’s perfect for solo shoots and action sports, but what really surprised me was how much fun I had shooting with my two kids. However, I had a bit of a mishap last night while filming at the beach. I was doing a 20-meter orbit shot, but with my back turned, I ended up crashing the drone and couldn’t find it. I spent two hours searching through brambles and stinging nettles until it got dark, but eventually, I had to accept defeat and head home without the Neo. In hindsight, I should’ve put my phone number or an AirTag on it. Don’t make the same mistake I did-enjoy and have fun! Steve
