I was expecting all clips in a cinematic look! 😅 But still a nice video! I know you have another one but you'll probably do one in the future 😇. Btw I don´t know if you notice but pressing for 3 secs the directional buttoms you´re able to change distance and some other features.😉
Happy with my neo, already carried and used it on a 200 mile backpack in Scotland last month after watching your video on it. The reason for buying it was the price. If i want to spend double the money on an upgrade I'll buy a proper drone tbh from DJI 👍😎
the feathers & quality of Promax would swallow & spit that strip down 4K camera Neo 10 times more.... Just the battery life & 1TB SD card for 4K/8K captures worth every penny on ProMax & what we getting with Promax is Bargen , if the feathers & quality of Promax was on that strip down Neo bet the money on that would over thousand dollars EASY
Actually is more than 3x the price on the promax. USA pricing is available on the Hoverair website $700 for the promax vs the discounted Indigogo price.
@@SFBenjaminK US$700 just for the drone and no extras yeah no thanks! Vs current Neo price now just US$175 kind of not in the same category! The X1 promax quality is ok but not even close to the Mini 4 Pro and US$759 complete with a controller!
Apart from the much improved Video quality the main reason I would consider the Max/ProMax over the original Hover X1 is speed. As a road cyclist the X1 can really only do 25km/h which is quite slow unless you are going uphill. Also Dolly Track on the X1 is only ok if you are cycling up a relatively steep straight hill. The X1 tends to go from Dolly Track to Follow if you go too fast or turn a corner. Now I just have to wait and see if Santa brings me one for Christmas.
Good review, but you left out some important info. Maybe you can answer the following... 1. What happens when the battery is low? Where does it return to? In regular drones, if a signal is lost, like if it goes out of range, the drone goes back to it's origin point and auto lands. 2. Obstacle avoidance? If I am flying through a forest and it is tracking me, what would happen if something gets in it's way? 3. You showed it tracking you on a bike. So, how does the drone know when it is time to land? Is holding out your hand the only option to tell it to come home? 4. Here in the US, the FAA requires drones to have drone ID. It's kind of like an electronic license plate. Does this one have that built in?
Remote ID no it does not, you need to attach that to the drone as an extra, you should already know the rest as its been widely shown on other video reviews. The only sensor is a very poor rear sensor that is virtually useless as its max anti collision speed is just 1 m/s
Another great video Steve, I'm assuming that while your trying to set up your settings for better quality footage, the battery is slowly draining with even less flight time.. I think the weight of these gadgets will eventually rise to the 249 grammes with a larger battery life, at the moment this model is a bit pricey compared to other alternatives
Thanks. Although the drone needs to be on to dial in your camera settings, it doesn’t need to be airborne. It usually takes me around 10 seconds to dial in my camera settings, and I do this while holding the drone, so although this will use some of the battery, I imagine it’s very minimal. Hope this helps!
Can't wait to see how dji is going to counter this, maybe they might just come up with a pro model for the Neo. So I'd rather wait or better just invest in a mini 4 Honestly this hover drones are way too pricey.
Just like any other digital gadget these days, every year there will be an upgrade which will outclass the predecessor. The subscription business model continues to add more burden on the pocket!
I've the Pro version for 1 week now and enjoy it a lot. You said you didn't use the beacon and joysticks yet. Are you willing to try that out with a phone connected through the cable? To see if you can get the phone to act as screen in manual mode? I've tried a lot but can't succeed on that matter. Greetz Ab
Hi I tried a Neo to get some slow smooth footage approaching a building but I found it very jumpy speed wise (with the phone app). Is the new Hoverair good for 'cinematic' movement near to a target
This video made me want to fork out some money, and finally get a drone, until you mentioned the price, and then my thought was, “I’ll wait.” Great video, though.
For this specific video, how many batteries did you need, or how many times did you actually recharge? Considering you are a professional, how much battery time do you think would be needed for amateurs to make such a video? Thanks.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you use the Beacon, you can't use the App which means you can't set your video settings. The over-exposed issues are quite serious.
Good question! I actually haven’t had a chance to experiment with the beacon yet, so I’m eager to see how it works. I’ll put together a short video on it soon, which should help answer a lot of these questions. Thanks for watching 👌
Great video, even though you were given it, well done. I have one and thought your review was fair. How on earth do you get it to record on the SD card though? :-)
Thanks! If I’m honest, I didn’t end up using the SD card. The 64 GB of internal memory was plenty for each shoot since I backed up the footage afterward, which freed up space for the next session.
is a GREAT Drone lovin it , but have alots software buggy issues, they pop out new updates left & right they fix some but other comes out to surface , they push it out in market to fast because of Competition with DJI NEO & also NEO have some issues 2, they updating it .. none of them completely ready ..but of course the first X1 was TOP notch 👍
Mini 4 pro price! Mini 4 pro is around $750 with a basic controller vs $700 for the X1 Promax with no controller. That's a big ask! Sure the promax has 8k but lets get real 8k means nothing if the quality of the camera is crap and for sure the Mini 4 pro will look much better than the 8k on the X1. Just like the Air 3S will look much better than the Mini 4 pro!
Great question! Currently, the drone’s auto-tracking feature only follows people, so it probably wouldn’t track your Suzuki down a dirt road 😀 However, I’ll be exploring the beacon more in the coming weeks (the additional tracker), as I’m curious to see if, with the beacon, the drone might track me in a car or if it only recognises human forms. Stay tuned!
Video quality and dynamic range is so much better than Neo but it's disappointing, that in auto mode this drone is overexposing that much. The Idea to use a drone like this is to take a shot quickly and that of course means not to have to fumble around to expose manually. But at least your can do so here. Competition is always good for us customer so I hope DJI will be not kill this small company with dumping prices. I guess new year there will be a Neo 2 / Pro with better cam as well, so it will get real tough.
I tought video settings were locked in automatic flight modes, at least looking at the footage uploaded to Hover FB group and from some Hover replies to the question. Nice to see this is not, or did i miss something?
@LearnOnlineVideo haha no worries. Hey is it true that this doesn't work anymore? I've seen several people say the settings don't stick for the autonomous modes.
Over priced for my purpose. I stay with DJI Neo and my Mini 4 Pro. Both serve my purpose to track me doing dog agility sports. I have the X1 Smart. It is more expensive that my Neo. I need a flying camera just to track me including sharp turns at high speed. I don’t need cine video quality. All I need is to view the video on my iPhone or iPad during my training session.
Did you have to send it backing? Because personally I've decided not to watch UA-camrs, who don't buy their own gear The price is too high, especially with no controller and power consumption
I've been waiting for DJI to come out with their upgraded version of the Neo drone. I'm thinking it will outperform the Promax and the original DJI Neo by leaps and bounds. The added benefit for me will be due to the fact that I can use the N2 controller that came with my DJI Mini4 Pro if I so desire, which I will desire. I'm basically a tech-retard when it comes to all the controls related to videography and photography. For the vast majority of my video drone projects, I just let the drone's onboard automatic controls take care of adjusting the quality of my shots.
The crazy thing is that the Mini 4 pro that leaves the X1 promax in the dust is US$759 including the basic controller vs US$700 for the X1 promax with no controller!
The guy who created it this drone is Chinese, the factory is in China, the major competitor is Chinese. The older version was also the same Chinese creator, made in China. Hence a Chinese Product. Hoverair is the known brand not a rebrand. try rethinking a bit harder. You’ve been rebranded simpleton. 531
Yeah somehow US$700 is a little steep in price especially with a drone like the DJI Neo coming in at US$175. Sure if you are one of the idiots that want to use the drone cinematographic then no the Neo is not for you, but of course neither is the X1 promax! But if you want a cool little drone that you can take for selfie and save on your phone then the Neo is perfect. I really was interested in the X1 pro, but that cost and lack of front and side obstacle avoidance and the very weak rear obstacle avoidance I mean come on 1 m/s limit! So many moan that the Neo is not a great drone in camera quality while the average user will store the photos on their phones and not look at 200cm from a computer monitor or big screen TV, but lets get real the pro and promax will look like crap to! Neither drone has the quality of even the DJI Mini 5 pro series for US$759 including a controller!
Thoughts on this tiny 8K Pocket Drone? Let me know below!! If you want to check it out, here’s the link: hoverair.sjv.io/dab47k
Always enjoy your presentation style and that 80's futuristic film style music was perfect. Gave me some nostalgic feelings to old scofi movies!
I've been waiting for this to come out
Always coming up with something new. Great stuff.
A very nice little drone. Your video is very nice
My HoverAir X1 Pro skiing combo just arrived yesterday. Hope to see more tips and use cases. Thanks
My God ❤ video quality is superb, definitely this is game changer ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉But price is very expensive..
lol what? you watching this on monitor or apple watch?

Great video review as always. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make it and a BIG thumbs👍 up.
Super 😊
I keep going back and forth if I should get the pro or pro max. I have the Hover air X1

A nice compact design, but it is the battery, which is of concern to me.
otherwise, I would definitely purchase one.

I just returned mine! It’s a crap ! Good luck buddy
Yes, with half the video quality!

@Adventures_with_Sog Sorry wrong person to reply to
The drone in this video is the X1 promax or over 3x the price of the Neo! So is it worth the price for slightly better visible image quality?

I'm curious to see how well this drone performs in low-light conditions. Any thoughts on that?
Nice :)
Hi, does this go over water? The original doesn't.

Does it have an obstacle avoidance option?
Does that thing record audio so that I can actually use the dolly mode for recording a moderated scene?
Great review thanks.
Please double check the camera settings.

In the promo video it shows the drone following a vehicle by using the beacon.
Does it have Log?
Is it 10 bit?

Can’t get camera settings when display for joysticks beacon; only when using phone preview virtual joysticks.
Your advertiseming hahaha 😊
I kinda wish we can lock in the camera settings in the original hover🤔
The setting does not stay if I leave manual mode. How can I uses this in the auto flight modes?
Do you need a license?
Damn dude... Put some chapters in I had to skip up to 5:13 which is what I was interested in but good video overall! 😂
