I just wish more people--even those, like me, who like terriers, could be honest about what a terrier is. So many little dogs in my neighbourhood. I now have a greater appreciation for them....Too bad they're molly coddled here. Their owners wouldn't even let them chew on a bone for fear they might get splinters.
For a "natural born killer," Millie wasn't very effective for some reason. She was slow to chase, hesitant to grab, and spent too much time trying to take rats from other dogs. Don't think she killed a single rat on her own. Hopefully she has improved since.
I love how quiet this breed is when they're this amped up and on the hunt. It's as if they're thinking that every second they waste barking could mean a lost kill.
I want to see this as a real made for TV sport! (PPV?) Let's put names/numbers on the dogs and have a running tally of the kills. Plus colour commentary and slow-mo-replays. 2 points for a 1-dog kill, 1 point for a shared kill. Special points for "Kill of the Day" and "Best Root out". Since it's sometimes hard to tell who killed what, especially when one starts it and another 2 catch it again, it could be done by teams. In a versus kind of way. The team captains (the humans) get to pick the locations. If this was funded, imagine how quickly we'd see a dent (even if small) in large rat infestations. Next, let's figure out a sport for killing the invasive carp species!

Rat Baiting, betting on how fast a Terrier could kill a given amount of rats or which terrier could kill a given amount of rats the quickest, was the most popular betting sport in New York City in the 1800's, even more popular than cock fighting, boxing and horse racing.
One of my cousins had a fencing company, and she lived in the far-out suburbs, almost country. They had a barn-shed where they stored a lot of their equipment, and of course, living where they did, near farmers growing corn, there were field mice and rats. She had Jack Russell terriers, and of course, barn cats. I watched as the barn cats came each morning to get the terriers from the house to "go to work" catching their common enemy. You have to understand that vermin must be kept down, or else with their breeding pattern, they'd take over crops meant for us and other animals to eat. It's cruel, but that is the way of things when controlling vermin..
It's great to see you praising your dogs...each and every one of them. It's hard for some to understand this way of life, but these dogs clearly have a wonderful, natural life.

My friend once told me about mechanic who worked on fishing trawler, where were many rats of course. One day he went down to machine room he heard mechanic talking to somebody, but there are nobody except that man. He thought mechanic go crazy and asked him who does he talked to. Look there, said mechanic and pointed to a corner. My friend looked at the dim corner and saw the rat sitting on the pipe. The rat were huge, about the size of an adult cat!

My first time watching your channel, your dogs are the most amazing ratters I've seen! My Cocker LOVES to watch the rat action, his toys have become rats now! What breed are your dogs? They are talented.
How were you flushing the rats out of their holes? Great video :) Sorry, I saw your explanation on Day 2...
