What’s the movie about?

This was the only Jim Carrey movie that made my dad crack up laughing in the theaters back in 1997 and he hated Jim Carrey.
I can see why. Less jokes and more acting silly with him. Childish pulling faces. I don't find him funny but I don't mind his movies if I'm bored lol

At no point have I criticized him or insulted him (Jim Carrey) I was merely expounding on the Original post as to perhaps why his dad may have hated Jim. I certainly dont hate him. But take away the pulling faces and it's no longer as funny. The scene is funny no doubt but Jim's style of acting is abit like an 11 year old stuck in an adults body. Not that I'm taking anything away from the man. He is a good actor no doubt. But I dont ever find myself in hysterics when watching him. You probably do find him funny. That's you.

I just can’t believe that all the movies he stars in they ignore his goofiness and then say a perfectly normal line. It’s like modding the protagonist of a game and just watching the NPC’s react normally.
What I love about this movie is that he’s not only magically forced to tell the truth, but that the truth must always come in the form of a joke
On top of that, he knows how crazy he is!

There'd be a lot of outrage and discord (and likely endless warfare) due to peoples' differing opinions, beliefs and motives. I think this movie does a great job of conveying that sentiment.

I know that the cognoscenti have "Raging Bull" and "Citizen Kane"....... but Jim C in "LIar, Liar" is a cinematic gem. Can watch it 10x. Those two films are fine achievements in cinema art, and in explaining the human condition. Laughing at the absurdity of life is also an artistic achievement and Jim C is a master of his art.
Every line is golden but the I CAN'T LIE as if he just pooped himself beats everything 😂😂😂
