Firstly the people are so nice and friendly,we Thais like all foreigners wherever you come from. The secondly is food ,Thai cuisine is far better than other SEA countries.Lastly the beach are so beautiful, and where you can buy food next the beach. That’s why people come back year after year, especially Song Kran ( Thai new year in April)
As a Thai, it’s fascinating for me to hear why you all love Thailand more than other Asian countries! 😮 It’s truly rewarding to see you enjoying not just our country, but also our rich, complex culture. 😊 I also appreciate reading the respectful and thoughtful comments about Thailand from your subscribers. You have a nice community ! Wishing you all the best and much happiness. 🙏
Your culture is complex but not rich. Your culture is barbaric and racist. Your culture teaches locals to hate foreigners and exploit them, all with a smile. Unlike this channel owner and his flock of sheep, I actually know Thailand well. It has a very dark underside. You know this which is why you are baffled that people prefer Thailand over other Asian countries. Remove the sex and drug scene from Thailand and you will see the number of tourists collapse.

I agree with you 100% , I leave here in two weeks for my three month stay , this will be my third year in a row and my fifth time visit overall , and when I’m not there all I do is watch UA-cam videos on Thailand,.. I think the main reason is just how friendly all the Thais are , and also the fact that there’s so many cool things to get out on your scooter and explore , the food is incredible , and it’s a nice feeling to have when your enjoying these things they have to offer that the prices are so affordable , it funny how you mention you wish you could relive your first visit over again ,.. my first visit was in 2013 , long story short I had sprained my ankle and would travel around with my crutches on my rented scooter, I couldn’t pull up and park without a Thai person stepping off the sidewalk to offer to help me off the bike, including little old ladies ( I’ll never forget that )
Definitely a super well rounded country and so many good things here. That story says a lot about the country too, I’ve had similar experiences all around south east Asia to be honest, the people have always been amazing (95% of the time) but there’s something extra special about Thailand
Thailand has a special vibe. It has a lot to do with Buddhism, but as others have already mentioned, Thailand was never colonized, so there's no simmering resentment towards foreigners.
@@rafawojciechowski5146 There's an agreement that only some regions in Thailand would occupied such as central and southern region. There were no Japanese troops in other regions...
I'm a Filipino but 25 yrs living abroad, my biggest worry is my retirement, i dont see myself living in my own country. I traveled to Thailand 5x, whenever i feel stressed, by default am longing for Thailand. I traveled to HK, Laos, Indonesia, but Thailand has special spot in my heart. I feel safe there as well which i don't, in my own country. Planning my 6th visit to Thailand again. 😍

Hello Restless, I have very dear friends that are here in the US. I worked with them both for almost 30 yrs. She came to the US at a very young age. She is Filipino and the sweetest lady ever. Beautiful inside and out. He is American. Their plan is to move back to her native home when they retire and be close to her family that she has missed so much. My husband and I are moving in the area somewhere. Probably Thailand. Not sure at this point. I just retired ( only because I started my career at an early age ) and my husband will retire next year. ( 2025 ) There are ways to keep your money where you are now and transfer what you need, whenever you need it. You must pick the correct bank that doesn’t charge you too much for transfers. That is our plan. Just a thought. Very Best wishes to you, wherever you decide to go. 😊
Thailand is diverse, has own identity, has never been colonized, is easy to travel around the country, the people are friendly and the food is delicious. That's why I love Thailand the most in Southeast Asia ❤
It's really incredible, but i just realized that it's 13 years straight except 2021 (covid) that I've been going to Thailand and i don't really know why, but as you said after 6 months of work i miss Thailand. I've also been to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar but only once. The west meets east is great definition of the reason that we get so attracted to Thailand
Thailand just has the best mix of everything - constant buzz, infrastructure, stunning and ornate culture, best streetfood that is everywhere, best malls, markets, restaurants, clubs, party streets, rooftop bars, best condos, coworking areas etc and they put a lot of care into their architecture and interior design. Everything literally feels like a special experience. Then they have the paradise islands in the south, charm of old town Phuket, stunning cities and villages in the mountains up north etc. But most importantly, the Thais are so friendly, smiley, love to bust your chops and joke around and are so gentle - just the tone of their language is so comforting. So it's no surprise the entire world wants to be there at all times. That being said, the rest of Asia is incredible. I love it all from Osaka to Hanoi to Bali. When you live in Asia, you really get the whole package and the entire region to explore because flights and hotels are so cheap compared to the West.
You listed a lot of positive things about Thailand and I do agree to all of them. But you forgot to mention that the thai women are the most beautiful ladies on this planet!
In 2011, I was one year away from early retirement and had a few countries in mind for relocation. I knew each of them well: Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Brazil, or Thailand. Thailand won for several reasons, and I have never regretted my decision.
As an australian where everything is more or less the same and everything is so spread out, each of Thailand's major provinces offer a unique feel and they're all close to eachother and the friendliness of the people is consistent throughout.
I have literally just come back from South East Asia, and the first thing I have done is look at videos about Thailand. You are correct in that whilst some of the surrounding countries can offer some unique perspectives and cultral/historical highlights, Thailand has just got the complete package....and more importantly it knows how to handle mass tourism very well. Bangkok airport is just an amazing example of how to process so many visitors without a single hitch in immigration, baggage, checking in and getting around the airport. The same can be said for the BTS...it makes London's underground look silly and chaotic compared to how Thailand have seen what the rest of the world are doing, and then just making it work for the best. I have multiple trips to Europe in my schedule for next year...but I think I have left a part of my heart in Thailand and will be longing to get back there soon. Enjoy the rest of your Asian adventure Josh :)
Good morning Josh From Melbourne Australia You have made my day today after watching your video I couldn’t have agreed more on this, We as a whole family and friends do plan our Thailand trips twice a year for winter and summer holidays for for us because we are both retired we go 4 times a year our friends still working I have come to conclusion on this about Thailand and other neighboring countries as; 1, food 2, infrastructure, roads 3, easy to get around, cheap road trips clean and brilliant stopping at service stations like PTT ( World class ) 4, genuine feeling about the whole of Thailand the people are ready to help if you are really need one and I have to mention this time after time again that it’s not all about money 5, feel more relaxed about the whole things ( no one bothered you ) 6, it’s your choice weather you want it 5 stars on down to backpacking 7, peoples, I have found in conclusion of the total overall Thailand is the people they are far more happy to deal with just seeing them smiling in every day living life is a plus to everyone especially tourists , We don’t see that much in other places Overall Josh happy to come across your videos love everything that you have said Cheers Mate Han
as a Malaysian, i think most of us come to Thailand cause of their food, from 7/11 to street food everything's so good and cheap + their entertainment is wilder than ours so......
I thought that Malaysia had EXCELLENT food too. They have a big diversity of food from Asian to Middle Eastern. Yes, Thailand does too. But, I liked Malaysia as well. But of course, I'm not from Malaysia lol. 🤣So, that's why I like it lol. Hence likewise, I'd say the food from the USA sucks, because I'm from the USA lol 🤣
@@teatree6228Wrong, it's Islamic influences, not Arabs influence. Arabs don't live on tropical paradise like ours and we don't live in dessert like them. Thailand isn’t perfect for sure, but it’s the place I feel safe and belong to the most in south east Asia. Everything is affordable, accessible, comfortable, and enjoyable.
I'm from Thailand's neighbouring country. I go back to Thailand at twice a year. I don't care those people who talk shit about Thailand because I know Thailand is the only place that I feel calm, chill, freedom, safe, positive, happy and motivated.
Yea, just got home after being in Thailand for 2 months. That was my 2nd trip, 1st was in 2018. Been to Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand is by far my overall favorite. Cant wait to come back ❤
It’s Thailand for me every time, and I’ve done Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. Going Philippines next month actually 😂 I retired this year and plan to spend half the year in Thailand, rest in UK/Europe. See how it goes.
My 1st time in Thailand was in 2023. I agree, fell in love with the country it was the time of my life. Been back this year, which was great, but the first time you can't repeat and will always remember those special times. Plus went with my Sister in Law who is Thai. I went of by myself and did the Island hopping, which was fantastic, but hanging out in the backstreets of Bangkokwith my extended Thai family was the best, I will never forget that. Been to Phillipines and VIetnam. Doesn't really matter what country i visit, for me it is all about the people you meet. I would live in Thailand and visit surounding countries. Easier to travel around Thailand than say Phillipines, it is akward. Thailand wins
Thais used to joke that what makes Thailand different is our mantra in all things. Our 5S Philosophy for every aspect of life. Suay - Beautiful Sook - Happy Sanook - Fun Saduak - Convenient Sabai - Relaxed Just as an example, when you ask someone about work you can be asked “ทำงานสนุกไหม“ literally “was work fun?”
been travelling in and out of SEA for 20 years. really love thailand, vietnam, malaysia, laos, philippines…cambodia, indonesia and myanmar less so. i could see myself retiring in the end in thailand - in particular chiang mai.
Thailand is home for souls. It’s hard to elaborate. Once you’re touched by her you’ll know immediately you can rest your soul here. Now it doesn’t matter where your hometown is or how many more places you want to experience, you just know that you have to go back to Thailand where your soul belongs.
Been going to Thailand since 2007. Been there over 10 times now. My partner is Thai so I have a sort of family over there. Google translate has made me closer to them now lol. I’m going to buy a house in Hua Hin next year so I have a place to retire to in a few years. You are totally right about all the countries in SE Asia. You can be yourself in Thailand without worrying about restrictive laws like in the Muslim or more corrupt non Muslim countries. The Philippines is easy going & the language barrier is so much better than Thailand but you’re more likely to get kidnapped or mugged there. Anyway I’m Australian so we have plenty of SE Asians living here, they’re fine & so are their countries but the best one is Thailand!!!
@@tcmalley we are also looking forward to go to Chiangmai in a month time can not wait, understand where you are coming from, I think it’s all coming down to the people religious and how Thailand was always independent and that is making Thailand today I have been to many other countries around but I don’t feel the same with those countries like I feel with Thailand trying to tell peoples about it quite difficult until they have experienced it themselves then they will know
I have a story of kindness of the thai people When I traveled to Thailand back in 2011. I was 22yrs old in Thailand for a month. I was staying in Pattaya for like 7 days before heading to Chang Mai. During the daytime one I decided to check out the Pattaya zoo. Honest to god I didn’t know at the time that I shouldn’t support those types of attraction as they mistreat the animals. I know now. I’m leaving the zoo and there’s like only a few cars in the parking lot & people are leaving. The zoo the was in the middle of rice fields way outside the city. They were closing and there was no taxis. I ask a zoo worker if they can call a taxi. The women talks to another worker and they tell I can ride them. I get in a mini van with this zoo worker and I guess his wife and 3 kids. I’m sitting in the backseat with 2 young Thai kids. These people didn’t speak any English and didn’t know me at all. They also didn’t ask for any money before offering me a ride. They dropped me in pattaya on the main drag near the beach and thanked them and tried to pay them 1000 bhat. They wouldn’t take. So after a couple I insist I said thank yo, got out and they drove away. Very nice people. I can t see that happening at any zoo in the United States.
Sounds like you went to Khao Kiew Open Zoo? Right now, the zoo has a global superstar in the form of a baby pigmy hippo. Not sure though if you've heard of Moo Deng. That free ride is a classic example of Thai hospitality.
Because it's a lot closer to the West as you say than most of them surrounding countries in terms of much better nightlife, malls, infrastructure generally and much more convenience to get around, transport, flights, etc, decent level of English spoken and probably safer too. As thailand is so varied, you can literally go on 5 different holidays there and have a different experience each time, I love the place, been many times over past decade
100% agree, English being the only exception, I don’t expect anyone to speak English but with Thai and English being so different, it can be difficult at times but it’s to be expected in Thailand, I’m not in the UK and respect that. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@josh.onthemove there's also the bar scene, lady friends that other countries don't have to anywhere near same degree. That has to be a major driver too
New subscriber here. Very balanced and truthful review. As a long term "farang" expat for the last 17 years I agree with what you say. Having traveled to Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia in my younger days I came to the conclusion that Thailand was the best place to settle down. Keep up with the good work and watch out for soi dogs and charging cows. 😂😂😂 👍👍👍
Hi Josh, I am Filipino and Thailand is one of the countries that I really wanted to visit soon, although I would like people to love Philippines but you are right about travelling, me myself is troubled that I need to fly just to go to my favorite beach. As a new subscriber, I'd love you enjoy Southeast Asian in general, I love all my brothers and sisters from SEA, I feel like we are just one family.
Great video mate been watching for a few months...never been to Thailand and booked a flight for December off the back of your videos. Keep em coming :)
Why I moved from Vietnam to Thailand. 1. English language, 2. Infrastructure, 3. Quality of healthcare, 4. Quality of people (polite and professional), 5. Quality and choice of housing. I love Vietnam for its coziness and go regularly. When I lived in Singapore, I saw Thailand as too touristy, but I really love the live here and wouldn’t change for anything. I travelled numerous times to Indonesia and Malaysia.
Totally agree, Josh. Once you've been to Thailand and soak up the country adequately, you would not want to go anywhere in the surrounding region. Thailand has everything at a significantly lower pricing. The country has places of interest to suit every traveler's budget; from 5-star to no-star (backpack) and still good, buddy. Longer bang for your bucks.
Thailand is more open to westerners, the people are more friendlier, not too conservative, better infrastructure, and open-minded. They can are related to westerners which make westerners more comfortable living in their country. Meet most western living standard which makes it attractive and comfortable for westerners. Better amenities, healthcare systems, bigger and modern brand of products, better shopping centers, better transportation system, etc. These are all important to tourists/ expats which keeps bringing tourists/ expats back to Thailand. Not too strict and the laws are relaxing and accommodating. All of these things will attract people to keep coming back.
I love the Philippines, particularly because I'm Filipino, but the differences between the two countries are like night and day if one is from the West. Being in the Philippines is like living in the Wild, Wild, West in the 1800s.
Thailand feels like a second home to many travelers with its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Affordable and endlessly diverse, it’s not just a place to visit-it’s where people return and even plan to retire.
Done all the SE Asian Countries apart from Laos. My first trip to SE Asia was to Cambodia and then following year to Vietnam. I then went to Thailand and have been back to Thailand 5 times and spent 4 months travelling round there in 2022 and I am heading back for 5 weeks in two weeks time. I love Thai Food, very happy with value for money of the Hotels, love the Beer (especially Chang), I love the Beaches and Islands (Koh Lipe especially), But I just love the mix you get in Thailand, the crazy city life of Bangkok, the calmness of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, the beauty of Khao Sok, the clear waters of Koh Lipe, Koh Samui etc. Overall my list of SE Asian countries are Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bali, in that order. My favourite Food is Vietnamese followed by Thai.
You have analyzed tourism in Southeast Asia very well. As a Thai, I would like to thank you very much for looking at Thailand in a positive way and speaking the truth, having seen and experienced Thailand yourself. And now, there are 29,000,399 foreign tourists visiting Thailand from 1/1/2024 - 3/11/2024. Your clips are very interesting to watch. I will always follow your clips.
I have lived in both the Philippines and Thailand. Thailand is unbelievable as the the value of everything is great for the money. The food is great, countless lodging options, and everything is easy. Philippines is a fun place but everything is more expensive and literally worse. Everything costs more and the food and lodging options are not great. It is well known that the bacteria in the food and water get many foreigners sick and you have to be very careful. The only bad thing in Thailand is the air quality that just continues to get worse in the entire region.
This channel deserves to be known! I love your contents . I totally agree, Thailand is super convenient and you can get access to everything from the western world as well. The feeling of freedom that this country offers you as well is incredible.
Been going to Thailand since 2009, been to Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. LOVE Thailand the most. Places are varied, so many islands to visit (sailed a boat with my wife for over a month between Phuket and Langkawi - amazing). Going back to BKK for a concert in Feb, then Siem Reap and finish up in Phuket (our home from home) - cannot wait!
Dude, you are on point. I am a Thailand addict, but I first travelled to the Philippines. Thailand was my 2nd Asian country. However, 2 years later, I've been there 5 times.
So I currently spend 8 months a year in Thailand and 4 months in the uk working,I first came here in 1985 at 20 years old and was married to a Thai by the age of 21 ,this month we will have been married 38 years,I have been very lucky to travel to 154 countries and territories, and my favourites not in any order are the Philippines Portugal Brazil Namibia and of course Thailand.i come from the uk and it is getting very difficult to live there now, very expensive and can be dangerous,I feel very privileged to call Thailand home for the moment,I never forget I am a guest in somebody’s country
I've been to Malaysia, the Philippines, and LIVED in China, and I was just as blown away in those countries as I was in Thailand. I still had LOTs of adventure, the people were super nice in each country, things were SUPER cheap in other Asian countries too; I didn't want to come back home when I visited each of the above countries, and guys (especially if you're single), there are PLENTY of single women in other Asian countries that are looking to date. There are PLENTY to go around! So, try other Asian countries besides Thailand!! Everything you may possibly need or want could be found in other Asian countries and not just in Thailand!!!!
I have lived in the Philippines this year for 6 months. Today is my first day in bangkok its night and day the difference Thailand is much more developed and the prices are equal. Literally my first full day here i would choose Thailand to live . Philippines for vacation see the nice islands
Another great video Josh! You made me laugh with the reactions to the dogs and cow. My Thai friend told me they would never have dogs in their houses like us. Luang Prabang in Laos is well worth a visit as is Myanmar but of course it’s kind of just opening up to tourism again kind of. Bagan is breath taking there. Why not go up to Chiang mai and do some stuff from the north to give people that contrast? I like the beach but Forrests and the country trump that every day. Keep the vids coming pal.
Thanks mate, can always count of the animals to keep you on your toes here. I’ll take note of them, going to do some travelling next year. I’ve heard the same re dogs. It’s a weird one with the dogs here, the street dogs are often fed and semi looked out for but don’t have a home and are left to do their own thing. I want to spend some more time in northern Thailand but it’s not on the agenda at the min. Thanks again for the comment mate 👍
In Nov-Feb as goodtime for northern, cool weather, not so hot, beautiful scenery, tradition, good food, lovely people, enjoy drived around mountain roads.
Totally agree with everything you said. Have visited Thailand many times and also lived in Phuket. The main bug I had about the Philippines was the food. You just can't compare it to Thai food. Also the travelling in the PP like you mentioned. Can take a day to get from Manila to some of the islands down south.
Your spot on I did Bali 17 times Thailand 5 times if I could I would have did the opposite Thailand and Bali are so very different places Thailand is more relaxing Lee bothersome an more wonderful world travelers still Bali is the surf gateway’s I love Thai cleaner safer I thought Bali is much less hygiene and the food sucks but yet Bali had a big role in my life thank you bro your spot on with food and traveling in Thailand you hit on my number one spots Hua-Hin market I just love it there thank you
While Thailand is amazing for most tourists, that’s exactly why I don’t plan on returning often-maybe once a year at most. The sheer volume of tourists makes it harder to have an authentic experience. Taiwan, on the other hand, has been a highlight for me this year. It’s pricier than much of Southeast Asia and the language barrier is real, but I’m learning Mandarin, and the lack of tourists makes it feel much more unique. Vietnam is another favorite-I’ll be heading back next year. The Philippines has stunning natural beauty, but the food isn’t great and the unreliable internet makes it less practical. It’s also pricier and less convenient to travel around. Malaysia has been a joy to explore, with fantastic scuba diving and excellent food. I’ll definitely return next year to dive deeper into what the country offers. Indonesia was another adventure, though I avoided Bali entirely. I spent most of my time in Jakarta, which I enjoyed (minus the traffic), and Raja Ampat for scuba diving-an unforgettable experience. The cultural and religious differences in Indonesia are clear, but I respect all religions, even as someone who doesn’t practice. Having traveled full-time in Asia for a year now, I have a good sense of where I want to go next. Next year’s plans include Japan, Korea, and maybe even China if it makes sense. I also haven’t explored Cambodia or Laos yet, so we’ll see where the journey takes me!
Transport , food hygiene , emergency medical care and general infrastructure are all superior in Thailand compared too Vietnam , Cambodia and Lao. Singapore is awesome but it’s basically western world capital city prices for everything. I agree Malaysia is probably closer to Thailand in amenities and prices than any other nearby countries.
Come visit Indonesia! Travel by train in Java starting from Jakarta to Bandung and Jogjakarta. Then hike the crater of Mt. Bromo before heading to Bali. Then fly to Labuan Bajo to see the Komodo dragons and sail on some the richest marine life waters you’’ll ever see. Thailand is fantastic, but Indonesia is breathtaking.
Many thanks for this great video! I agree with you 100%. In August 2023 I was the first time there and also feel in love with this country. The friendliness of the people in the land of smile is amazing! In the meantime I was four times there. And I come back in December 2024, April 2025, August 2025, December 2025 and plan to live there a least 180 days a year! Some things are not able to explain.;-)
Good comparison & useful perspective. Thanks. For me the main issue for moving to Thailand was english language.. so i moved to malaysia simply because language is not an issue there & to live in a country with many problems to face such as medical etc. language is important
I'm in Thailand right now and it is packed full of tourists. I've been coming here for 20 years and I definitely think there's more than ever. I'm in Patong and it's like Benidorm on steroids. Definitely Vietnam for me!
For those that visit regularly or enjoy expat life in the Kingdom, it can only be one word that encapsulates the reason why they live or return...............and that's..........'Thainess'..............it's the common denominator that fits all.............
I have heard some expats say that some aspects of "Thainess" are frustrating. I think it can be a double edged sword. Personally, I am only a tourist and have always enjoyed Thailand and it's uniqueness.
I traveled too the surrounding counties too see but always decided I was wasting my time and would prefer too be in Thailand it's the best place out of all South Asia countries by a mile
I just use a GoPro 11, iPhone 14 Pro, and a DJI mini 3 drone. GoPro is good for outdoors in bright light, phone is good for closeups and worse lighting. Thanks for the comment!
The language barrier seems to be a great barrier to me. The Philippines takes that out of the equation for the most part. Got a good laugh out of your cow encounter. I've been to Singapore and love it.
Hey Buddy, another good vid that people are going to watch a lot. I know from our previous conversations you had the Philippines on your radar for next year but it's good to hear on this vid it's still in your plans. As you know, I will be there as well during the first quarter of 2025 so I look forward to seeing you then. Maybe, if you're ready we can do a China run as well. Love how your comments are getting more plentiful with each vid. Talk soon!
Google: "kawasan falls" in the Philipines mate. Worth going to the Philippines just for the day "canyoning" there. But the Philippines is good for caves, blue Mountain streams, snorkelling, scuba etc. Goin back to Asia in Jan, can't wait.
@josh.onthemove yeah mate honestly make sure you give it priority because once you are physically there in some parts you wouldn't be blamed for thinking you were in some Paradise Eden or something I'm not joking
I lived in Myanmar from 1969-1972 and 1984-1987 and found it to be the most amazing country in the world. I’ve also visited all the other countries in Southeast Asia and especially liked Vietnam. While Thailand is interesting I found it a little sordid and too touristy for my taste.
@ While the Burmese junta have isolated the country from the rest of the world it feels very authentic and hasn’t really changed over the decades. Moreover, my father was in the embassy so were always looked after. Both my father and myself, as a child, spoke Burmese, but my mother wasn’t too keen on the country and always looked towards spending the weekend in Bangkok and enjoying a bit of luxury.
For me Thailand was just an 3 day layover before going to neighboring countries for 20 years. It was kust too westernized. But now I got to know it some more and if you go away from the tourist areas its quite nice
Are you still around Bangkok? I’d like to recommend visiting the Wat Saket Fair (Golden Mount Temple Fair). It’s only held for 10 days once a year. This carnival has food, rides, and the highlight is climbing up the Golden Mount for a view of Bangkok. Don’t miss it! The fair has just returned after a 4-year break due to COVID.
Can't explain either. But for me, Thailand is the only country that I go back to over and over again without getting bored.

Thanks for nice comments and gestures.Thais like all foreigners whatever race you are.
Thais are friendly to a point. The males not as much. The woman are great.

Thailand has a special vibe.
It has a lot to do with Buddhism, but as others have already mentioned, Thailand was never colonized, so there's no simmering resentment towards foreigners.

Never been colonized? I guess that depends how you define colonization
Going back to Thailand in 10 days 🥳 its such a beautiful country with beautiful people & food etc can’t get enough of it 🇹🇭
Definitely! Enjoy your trip!
It's really surprising despite Thailand generally not really speaking English.
@@ardi08 All the hospitality places, restaurants, malls, hotels, transportation etc have English speakers.
Definitely, I’ve travelled a lot of Australia too and this part of the world is very unique! That being said, oz is still a great place
Very agree on this
Australia has a lots of nice beautiful places but typical suburbia is very depressing just work and go back too your quiet house is the normal
Good morning Josh
From Melbourne Australia
You have made my day today after watching your video I couldn’t have agreed more on this, We as a whole family and friends do plan our Thailand trips twice a year for winter and summer holidays for for us because we are both retired we go 4 times a year our friends still working I have come to conclusion on this about Thailand and other neighboring countries as;
1, food
2, infrastructure, roads
3, easy to get around, cheap road trips clean and brilliant stopping at service stations like PTT ( World class )
4, genuine feeling about the whole of Thailand the people are ready to help if you are really need one and I have to mention this time after time again that it’s not all about money
5, feel more relaxed about the whole things ( no one bothered you )
6, it’s your choice weather you want it 5 stars on down to backpacking
7, peoples, I have found in conclusion of the total overall Thailand is the people they are far more happy to deal with just seeing them smiling in every day living life is a plus to everyone especially tourists , We don’t see that much in other places
Overall Josh happy to come across your videos love everything that you have said

as a Malaysian, i think most of us come to Thailand cause of their food, from 7/11 to street food everything's so good and cheap + their entertainment is wilder than ours so......
Interesting to hear a Malaysian's perspective on this, looking forward to exploring more of your country next year 🙌🏻
I thought that Malaysia had EXCELLENT food too. They have a big diversity of food from Asian to Middle Eastern. Yes, Thailand does too. But, I liked Malaysia as well.
Philippines is more fun, way more...
I agree with you on Thailand... I am not Thai..but I was born in Bangkok... I plan to return very soon and live there for the rest of my life. 🎉
What a life 🙌
Thais used to joke that what makes Thailand different is our mantra in all things. Our 5S Philosophy for every aspect of life.
Suay - Beautiful
Sook - Happy
Sanook - Fun
Saduak - Convenient
Sabai - Relaxed
Just as an example, when you ask someone about work you can be asked “ทำงานสนุกไหม“ literally “was work fun?”
Interesting, thanks for explaining this. It's funny because that's exactly how you feel in Thailand - those 5 S's.
been travelling in and out of SEA for 20 years. really love thailand, vietnam, malaysia, laos, philippines…cambodia, indonesia and myanmar less so. i could see myself retiring in the end in thailand - in particular chiang mai.

Thank you mate and love that, I think you’ll have a great time. Will do 👊🏻
I’m Australian been 13 times it’s the best year after year! First trip 2004 go other places sure! Still the best place for me anyway..
Dont tell your fellow Filipinos the most sensitive group of people on the planet
Haha which I love. I hope it stays that way. Not wild and all party with weeds. Hope not to God please...

Totally agree with everything you said. Have visited Thailand many times and also lived in Phuket. The main bug I had about the Philippines was the food. You just can't compare it to Thai food. Also the travelling in the PP like you mentioned. Can take a day to get from Manila to some of the islands down south.

Great info, thank you Josh!👍
Thanks 👊🏻
i'm just looking forward to exploring all of them myself. can't wait.
Me too!
Agreed fully on all of this 👊🏻
Come visit Indonesia!
The simplicity and detail in this itinerary is 10/10! It’s on my list for next year 👊🏻

Good comparison & useful perspective. Thanks. For me the main issue for moving to Thailand was english language.. so i moved to malaysia simply because language is not an issue there & to live in a country with many problems to face such as medical etc. language is important
Thanks, I think it’s one of the biggest challenges of Thailand, English and Thai are so different and not widely spoken by either side.
Now you stir my curiosity to check out Thailand. I have never been anywhere.
I wish I could do first visit again
You’re in for a treat 👍🏻
I'm in Thailand right now and it is packed full of tourists. I've been coming here for 20 years and I definitely think there's more than ever. I'm in Patong and it's like Benidorm on steroids. Definitely Vietnam for me!
Patong has been like that every time I've ever been. It's fun for a night or two but not for a long duration.
Yeah, it's my last day today and it's enough now lol
Its depends on what are u looking for when traveling....for me as Malaysians we like underrated not to much crowded tourist 😊😊
Well,Thailand is the best.
I’m from Ph. I travel a lot to Thailand. I love thailand. It is very exotic. Ph is more western.
Interesting to hear you say that, why do you think it’s more western?
I like Vietnam almost on the same level as Thailand. And if you don't drink Malaysia is very good always happy to visit there.
Great points and I agree
For those that visit regularly or enjoy expat life in the Kingdom, it can only be one word that encapsulates the reason why they live or return...............and that's..........'Thainess'..............it's the common denominator that fits all.............
I have heard some expats say that some aspects of "Thainess" are frustrating. I think it can be a double edged sword. Personally, I am only a tourist and have always enjoyed Thailand and it's uniqueness.
Or is it the Theravada Buddhism that makes the people who they are and the country what is? Relaxed, non confrontational - - Smiling.
It definitely plays a part.
It's all energy, like when you fall in love there is an energy that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy
I traveled too the surrounding counties too see but always decided I was wasting my time and would prefer too be in Thailand it's the best place out of all South Asia countries by a mile
Thailand is not in South Asia...
It's about Thai people, they are exceptional.
Hey mate what camera do you use? love the vids btw
I just use a GoPro 11, iPhone 14 Pro, and a DJI mini 3 drone. GoPro is good for outdoors in bright light, phone is good for closeups and worse lighting. Thanks for the comment!
Malaysia is very much underrated here...
Welcome to Thailand Bro. ❤😊 Thanks, you love Thailand. I saw your video, from Northern Thailand.
Thanks mate!
Will look into that! No place I've come across like South East Asia!
@josh.onthemove yeah mate honestly make sure you give it priority because once you are physically there in some parts you wouldn't be blamed for thinking you were in some Paradise Eden or something I'm not joking
Bro don't hype him too much he might get disappointed. 😂
@hcir5341 lol.. he won't with this particular place mate kawasan Falls on Cebu Island really is a majestical place
I lived in Myanmar from 1969-1972 and 1984-1987 and found it to be the most amazing country in the world. I’ve also visited all the other countries in Southeast Asia and especially liked Vietnam. While Thailand is interesting I found it a little sordid and too touristy for my taste.
Love this take and the insight. What did you love so much about Myanmar?
@ While the Burmese junta have isolated the country from the rest of the world it feels very authentic and hasn’t really changed over the decades. Moreover, my father was in the embassy so were always looked after. Both my father and myself, as a child, spoke Burmese, but my mother wasn’t too keen on the country and always looked towards spending the weekend in Bangkok and enjoying a bit of luxury.
For me Thailand was just an 3 day layover before going to neighboring countries for 20 years. It was kust too westernized. But now I got to know it some more and if you go away from the tourist areas its quite nice
That's why they like it modern and wild parties with weeds.
@@AndiditLove Not as wild as the country w/ 18-time prostitution though.
Thanks for the info. What are the dates it’s on?
@ 8-17 Nov.
You like comfort, that's the main reason.
