So glad you reacted to this, and I'm so glad that you, like ANYONE who listens to this man, realizes there is something different. He's saying something that feels like it matters. That it means something. When I found Einar and his band Wardruna, it changed my life. There is always a human being, an artist, SOMEONE that you meet along your path right when you need them. The first time I happened to stumble upon Einar, I cried so hard that I fell asleep afterwards. Please keep reacting to him and his band. They may touch a spot in yourself as well, like this song seemed to have. You got emotional as well, even though you don't know the language. That means something, man.... Kvitravn, Lyfjaberg, Gra, Raido. All these have music videos if you wanted to see a visual as well. Live in Moscow for Rotlaust Tre Fell, Kvervandi live with Ivar Bjornson...Eager to see if you explore more, in which case, I will be here with you on that journey.
Oh, thank you for reacting to Voluspá, eo few people do. Einar is just otherworldly. My fave is definitely Kvervandi (pls check out live acoustic version, if you get interested), a song done by his other project, collab w Ivar Bjørnson. He's also godlike (literary, he sing Odin's part) in Faun's song Odin. Oh and a lot of people (ofc including me) love to check out Trevor Morris' Vikings suite live, where Einar and an orchestra basically perform a medley of songs from the Vikings TV shows.
Hello! This is an old norse poem about what the völva told Oden when he asked what she could see - and she told him she could see everything that ever was and will be. It is indeed about the circle, life and death, leaving the old and embrace the new. It's about the world's creation and it's death during Ragnarök - which is not one single event but many - which ultimately will lead to the death and destruction of this world. Our earth will be no more but that is not the end, from it's ashes a new earth will rise and be born. One so beautiful it would bring tears to your eyes - and it will be humatity's new home... everything will start a new cycle there and life will continue on. There is no abrupt end to everything , death will bring new life.
You really need to listen to Lyfjaberg (Healing Mountain), FAUN - Odin (feat. Einar Selvik / WARDRUNA & Martin Seeberg), Kvervandi by Ivar Bjørnson & Einar Selvik, Gra, Wardruna - Kvitravn (White Raven), and for an amazing live performance that will leave you breathless and in awe: FMF 2015: International TV Series Gala: Vikings suite, Trevor Morris, Einar Selvik There are more but these are some of my favs.
Awsome reaction for en awsome artist. Enyoyd this time traveling, his voice almoust has a crying quality that need no translation. Lyrics are in old norse that few can understand anyway, maby som Islanders do?
Yes, Icelanders would understand a lot. However, Norwegians also learn some Old Norse and other old forms of Norwegian in school. We learn two forms of Norwegian, a lot of modern dialects, Old Norse, Swedish/Danish, some Sami, and English. A second foreign language is optional, but most people study Spanish, Mandarin, Russian or German, etc.

The Castlefest is always a very good opportunity to witness such artistic pearls. I have pleasant memories to my visits there.
