    So encouraging to hear you two talk about 'how to hear from God' because other people tell me God said 'xyz full paragraph' and I'm like well when I pray sometimes God brings to mind a verse that seems relevent out of no where, or it's like one word like 'forgiveness' that pops into mind and seems irrelevent to my me centered prayer (lol) and it's taken a long time for me to understand staying in the word is how I hear from God...and for me it's not been a long paragraph of God talking to me crystal clear in non-bible verse way
    (yet-you never know haha)

    This was so JUST what I needed in this season of my life. As a Ministerial Candidate for my church I’ve been feeling the pull to teach women how to embrace the Word of God, and so many think of a Bible Study as just reading a self-help book that leaves out so much scripture. We have the God-given right to the knowledge of Him, go after it! Thank you for blessing us with these conversations!

    Wow, someone in my own position who gave up a successful career to care for aged parents and to support adult children in their lives! I have done this twice- both when I was a parent of very young children and now in my mid-fifties. Caring for an elderly parent with dementia is extremely tough, even more so when adult children still really need you to be there for them at the same time and your husband also needs support in his very demanding job which financially keeps you all afloat. With God we can do all things, but it can take you places of complete desperation. Also a fan of RC Sproul!

    This whole podcast was awesome!! But I am so thankful to hear she is considering writing about aging. I am almost 40 and right there with you, Faith.. depending on what circles I am in, I don’t feel like I measure up (lack of shine lol.) It’s frustrating to feel that even in church circles. I don’t want to feel the pull to compare how flat my forehead is or isn’t even at church lol!! It’s hard to find that line of wanting to still feel attractive to my husband but not be a slave to what culture says is pretty at 40.

    The heart is deceitful above all things. I don’t specifically know what you define as using emotion when reading the Bible, but be careful and make sure the focus is truth over feelings. Being tactful and loving is important, but when reading the Bible we need to seek answers based on truth, not based on what we feel.

    So I really like all the good things that I have learned listening today but one thing I don’t agree on is that God doesn’t speak to us about what direction to go what we should do because I really believe that he does. I believe that we walk by faith, but I believe that we ask God for direction, and his word tells us that he is a light unto our feet and a lamp unto our path so I do agree with you that things have gone too much over to the side of feeling but it’s like when things are out of balance they kind of swing one side too far and then they start to come back and they tend to find that balance in my experience. Maybe possibly the earlier church was too much into the intellect and not into the feeling or the spirit per se. So I believe that its starting to swing back to bring a balance, because I think a balance is very important in our walk with the Lord. I do believe that we should not be controlled by our feelings, and that our feelings don’t have intellect and so therefore, we must take our feelings to the word & to God in prayer asking him to help us, to reveal to us the truth of the matter, regardless of what we feel. Hope that makes sense and does not come off in an offensive way. Have a blessed day.

    Great interview! I hope yall come to a place where you no longer see the need to “walk the line” as a woman. We can serve in any capacity in church/home as a man can. You both touched on the reality that all men and women in the faith are part of the royal priesthood, not just men but women too. “Roles” are a human construct rather than a biblical one. I have videos on my channel about this and am currently working on a video on 1 Timothy 2:12 I would love to share with you soon. Keep up the good work!

      Roles are a construct of God and are clearly defined in His Word. Attempts to say otherwise are of the flesh, period.
      He has a created order for us, and if we disagree with what He has said in His Word, we are the ones who are wrong.

    • @DivineDissident
      @DivineDissident 5 місяців тому

      @@amyk87 The "created order" goes back to Aristotle. The worldly ideas of the time were imposed onto the text of the bible. Understanding God's Word as a whole is not "of the flesh", what is of the flesh is when men impose their fleshly concepts onto the Bible and claim its of God and then make the claim that anyone who disagrees is opposing God. Thats what you call controlling and manipulative.

      Humans were made last. If anything the bible shows that what was created last was higher, not lesser.
      Seriously you are the one doing the mental gymnastics to believe something the bible never actually says anywhere at any time ever. People have taken things that are vague, and have read between the lines to see and conclude things that are not actually there.

      @@DivineDissident Goodness, someone is upset. No need to scream, why are you so angry? Scripture says what it says; you just don’t like it.
      I am not going to spend my precious time arguing with someone so determined to twist Scripture (especially that hilarious bit about your interpretation that what was last was most important because, my dear, that most definitely is not ever stated in the Bible). But since you asked so kindly for “proof”, I will leave you with several Scripture passages you’ve apparently ignored.
      “Man was created before woman, woman was created as a helpmeet for him. “ (Gen. 2)
      “Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.” (I Cor. 11)
      “I do not permit a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.” (I Timothy 2)
      Be well. And try not to be so angry. Ask the Lord and He’ll give you understanding, even in the things that seem to upset your worldview.

    Thank you Faith and Jen. I’ve only just started, but I wonder: Jen said that as a woman in the church, even though she was leading the women’s ministry, she didn’t have access to theological resources she felt she needed to complement her Bible knowledge and empower and equip her to lead those she was serving well. As the poster child of complementarianism, does she not feel at least partially responsible for this predicament? She is a staunch advocate of complementarianism, and many complementarians use her as the best example and endorsement of locking women’s access to equal opportunities (mainly leadership, but by extension other opportunities to flourish in our unique callings) in many churches across the USA and more economically developed world. Given her clear privilege of having been university educated and now having the ear of leadership, does Jen ever query the silencing of many women who aren’t in her position, and who have had her material and her words be used as a weapon against her sisters?

    • @amyk87
      @amyk87 5 місяців тому

      Jen isn’t “silencing women”. The Word is extremely clear on gender roles. No woman is “responsible” and it’s not a “predicament”.
      We are not permitted to substitute our opinions for what God has decreed, no matter how much it hurts our modern/western/radical feminist feelings. Your choice of language (“privilege”, “weapon”) indicates this is your issue.
      As so many wonderful teachers have said, if we disagree with the Bible, it is we who are wrong.
      Your comment comes off as very aggressive and angry. Perhaps that’s something worth spending time trying to understand and fix, since the Father wants us to have His love and peace in all things.

  • @mbfrommb3699
    @mbfrommb3699 7 місяців тому +2

    Maybe I'm too critical but this was a bit of a letdown. I just think sometimes the Church and Christians live in an alternate universe than I do. I see a lot of messages that focus on the culture war and morality when these are fleeting moments. I have spent basically my adult life in the financial arena and the study of global geopolitics.
    The decline in the culture, society, and morality are the result of a failing country not the cause of it. History has shown us that when a nation or empire is bankrupt that the society collapses.
    We talk about the attack on the "nuclear family" by all these agendas but that's really not true. The attack on the family has been happening for over 100 years.
    In 1914 the US dollar which is the global reserve currency was worth $1, today it's worth 3.2 cents. A loss of 97% of it's value. The reason our world is the way it is, is because for 100+ years the US government and the Federal Reserve have devalued the currency causing each dollar earned to have less value meaning prices go up. It takes more units of currency to buy the same goods and services. We see this in real life with prices going up. As the currency loses its value people have had to work more for more dollars and at first it requires more hours, then 2 people, now it's both parents working immense hours, or single parents relying on government assistance, etc. Over time parents aren't raising their kids the system is and now people don't even want kids because they can't afford them. This is the real attack on the family and now we have a generation of kids and young people who are ignorant about so much of the world. There are more women with "only fans" channels than there are teachers in the US.
    The US dollar is collapsing. Now I'm not saying it's this year or next year but it's a matter of time.
    Also, what is contributing to the acceleration of the collapse is that the US Federal government as of the end of the year has the interest on the national debt as its biggest expense.
    In 2007 the US national debt was $9 Trillion. Feb 2022 it was $30 Trillion and today it's $33.7 Trillion. It is conceivable that from 2022-2025 the US will go from $30 Trillion $40 Trillion in debt. What took the Us from it's founding to 2007 to get to could happen over 3 years.
    That is a nation that is rapidly going bankrupt.
    As a result of the war in Ukraine, the US has also sent much its weapons stockpile yet has been threatening Russia with war via NATO, China over Taiwan, and now Iran over Israel.
    I guess in my world I see the end of America approaching and I know no election can stop it, and it'll have a massive impact on the world when it happens. I guess, I was hoping that more Christian teachers would talk about these things and prepare the Church for them. Not to fear them or to panic but to be aware, that the LORD has a plan and to trust Him.
    Whether you agree or not the lost are talking about things they are afraid of. You have non-believers truly afraid and talking about whether the Jewish or Christian version of the "End Times'" is correct. Yet much of the church seems silent. We have 2 wars where the Russia/ Ukraine was has seen 400,000+ Ukrainian soldiers killed and the war in Israel/Gaza was because Hamas slaughtered 1300+ civilians and yet I don't hear anything not even prayer for the people in these conflicts.
    Are Christians unaware of them? Like I said I sometimes wonder if I'm just living in an alternate reality to many of the YT Christian channels these days.
    My advice don't bury your head n the sand, pray for the lost, pray for all those affected by war, share Jesus and know His plan as all of this unfolds so you can trust Him and all that He is doing in our world right now. Take care.

      I appreciate your perspective and enjoyed the read. I will say I believe and have seen the agendas mentioned, but your mention that these are more a result rather than cause of the collapse is interesting and financially has a lot of truth behind it. I don’t think everyone is blind to it, but I believe it’s more complex, as many who claim Christianity are false etc. But I agree, it does look like the fall of the nation is coming. And I’ve been thinking much of what you mentioned regarding our governments spending for a while now lol.

      @@childofthelordkingofkings1904 thank you for the reply. Yeah I don't want to attack anyone, be aggressive, or argumentative, I just think that people are struggling big time, and what is coming will cause a lot of people to leave the faith. Millions will lose their jobs, their homes, and their life savings. The biggest lie is that the global economy is ok. It's not the LORD is converging massive crises all around the world and I believe it's because He wants us to want Him. I think every anchor that holds us here will be washed away. I live in Canada and unemployment is rising rapidly, 30% of people are negative on their mortgages and when the prices collapse it'll be bad for a lot of people. I have been in my field since 2001 and if I didn't have Jesus I'd be worried for a lot of people (some days I still am, which can be a struggle.) But I see very few even mention anything remotely about this. Whatever happens, I know the LORD has a plan it just seems like His plan seems to be whatever can go "wrong" as we see it, it happens. I just think that teaching and reminding Christians that all things are under His Sovereign Will and we need to trust it. But also know we've only just begun the difficult times. Take Care and be well.

    Ministry is pointless if there is no truth. The reason why you have no truth is because you have no understanding of the bible
