I think a few more iterations on this design could produce a best-in-class gamepad for fighting games! using keyswitches for the dpad/stick/thing by mouting them sideways is a really awesome idea. also you could add some neoprene foam on the bottom to stop slippage, I did that with my leverless. EDIT: as a now-owner of this pad, I 100% recommend the neoprene foam, not only is it anti-slip it also MASSIVELY improves how comfortable the controller is. It went from genuinely uncomfortable to actually usable after applying the foam. I'm using a sheet from McMaster-Carr, item no. 1601N234
I think so too. If he can improve the ergonomics and also make the shoulder buttons better this could be an awesome controller. The shoulder buttons on it suck and that's a big reason why I can't buy it or I would have already
I would DEFINITELY also love it for retro and retro-styled games, especially with the design inspirations from the Genesis. They finally made the Turbo Touch 360 good. Good on them.
I'm glad you're enjoying the controller and now I'm curious about this neoprene foam. So I'm guessing it's something you stick to/apply to the bottom? Is it anti slip on clothing too? Maybe you could tweet me a picture or create a youtube short so I could see exactly what you're talking about. Thank you for the feedback by the way
Steamdecks square gate trackpads are godlike for streetfighter games. You remove Jump and put in on Right Shoulder (bumper) button. Zero mistakes, zero fatigue, fast double taps, portable. This is why we NEED Steam Controller 2.Don't @ me, b4 you try it. At which point, you will be blown away.
This controller has a lot of potential. It just needs to be slim down a bit and made more comfortable to hold. Maybe separate the face buttons a little bit. I'm glad to see someone is taking the neo Geo clicky stick and making it usable again.
@@ForeverWinter1812 Well I did base it on the M30 to begin with and then when I was working on the dpad/joystick part I did take inspiration from the neogeo pad :P
@@bananafaction9871M30 is too tiny for me. I love the feel but I get cramped too easily. Cool idea but I personally will stick with the series x controller.
The design could be remade to work similar to a fight stick so the user can easily swap between circle, square, or octogonal gates. I would like to see a version where it has hand grips that way it would be easier to use the buttons on the top. That way you don't have to use your index to stabilize the controller.
i’ve been thinking that my dream fight pad would be the 8bitdo xbox m30 layout (6 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons) with the NeoGeo d-pad and someone went and made it :o
This looks amazing! I would absolutely pick it up (especially cuz I’m left handed and the left stick on my Xbox pad isn’t the greatest due to heavy SnapBack issues). Too bad it’s not in stock on the Etsy shop at this time 😔
I think if the buttons were smaller it would probably be better that way you can push more of them down at the same time because yeah your fingertips are pretty much the same size as the button
The stick looks like it has too much throw to it and seems kind of awkward. I'd rather have a more traditional D-pad with microswitches underneath like the Razer Wolverine does.
the NGPC stick is superior. the throw was smaller and it was very easy to dash with. the only drawback was the lack of a square gate. i'd like to see someone replicate that stick.
the redragon switches I use are basically rebranded outemus. Although Outemus are considered one of the lowest quality switch; theryre still better than membrane buttons and still rated for 50 million clicks so depend how much you use it, the switches should in theory last a couple of years.
@@bananafaction9871 Well I just mean swap them out with higher gram spring switches, clickier, or smoother switches whatever you feel would be more comfortable.
You know, I'm still hoping for a fightpad that actually has an arcade stick button layout, preferably the Astro City layout. Having the buttons set on the diamond like a conventional control pad has always made me hold the controller oddly.
For extra chonky switches maybe you could stick some Kailh Box Jades or Navy in there. Those are some CHONKY clicks for mechanical keyboards that could fit.
Idk for most fighting games would rather have a Dpad. Using analog stick movement for the Dpad just feels weird lol. I would make it interchangeable Dpads, controller little bit bigger round of the corners for easy grip, shoulder buttons should be bigger. A lot of improvements is needed but it’s a start👍
There's some defs room for improvement for this design, not using blue keyboard switches for the dpad would be good given that blue switches have hysteresis which is horrible for doing double inputs. I am excited to see where this goes.
A perfect example that the pad space is heavily understudied so there is a lot of room to make fightpads way, way better than ever. But still think that it is need to innovate more, use more fingers on hands at once for example
Why can't there be more controllers out there with microswitches for the dpad and switches for the face and shoulder buttons? I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat. Like I know the Hori Octa has face button switches but the dpad on it sucks and doesn't have it nor do the shoulder buttons
The razer raion has mouse switches for the dpad and keyboard switches for the face buttons. Otherwise the closest thing after that is the razer wolverine v3 pro
Yeah the padbox is probably better if you want to use all your fingers for the buttons. I made the FightWedge with a regular controller/gamepad grip in mind
@@bananafaction9871hi there, are you the creator and seller of this new fightpad? Okay, that looks mad uncomfortable, ngl.
@thechampagneroom1 dude, even SpongeBob Plug-and-play joysticks are more comfortable than a Joycon.

Basically a SEGA had it right with the six button layout
Basically just the Sega Saturn gamepad.
This is quite literally the Sega Saturn controller with a neo Geo clicky sliding d-pad.

An octagonal or rounded square gate probably would be best for this.

He should make a octagonal gate.
This is actually really amazing.
This is a Waveshare Zero controller, a Pico Pi clone using the same chip
I hope the creator makes an option to get different switches

Funny that you should say that because I read a different comment wishing the buttons were bigger 😂. Ah gamepads are so subjective I guess

It should be in the shape of that old Capcom Streetfighter controller for the SNES.

Kind of makes me want to try designing my own

if this had an option for octogonal gate this would be godlike!!
FINALLY!!!!
The neo geo pocket dpad was not built like this, it had vertical up down switches, this is emulating neo geo cd controllers!
Thats exactly what I want for directional movement. Joystick on the Duelsense is unreliable sometimes.
Is it better than the Fighting Commander though?

Stop saying everything is best, looks trash, sure it plays the same 💀
Its doesn't looks good.
NGP clicky stick is underrated and under-utilized in gaming. It's a real shame it hasn't made a comeback. I want to try this wedge.
