Big fan of these pads I ended up making a lot of tutorials and comparison videos on my channel to all the pads in their line up to help folks out because it can be a challenge trying to find the right version for you Good review
One of the best things about these smaller controllers is that you can use any standard-sized paper/card stock to print out custom art that you can change out at your leisure
Amazing control, small and low profile, super quiet, works perfectly, feels great, incredibly comfy, and it comes with all those lights I don't even use. Fast, responsive, easy to maintain, sturdy, trustwhorthy and cheap. A true gem of a product. I also loved the simple and small cardboard box: I currently use it to keep some extra switches and buttons, a few silencer rings and the tools for piece removal and cleaning. One of my best purchases ever, and one of my favorite objects to have.
Myself and a friend ordered T16s to south africa and with shipping from the US (we're from South Africa) AND a Mayflash magic boots adapter it was still only 3/4 of the price of the ps5 sticks we bought available in our country. Really doesn't feel like a cheap product at all, hats off to Haute honestly. Such a cool device
Haute G16 user here, LOVE IT! It makes fighting games so much fun, and it was an absolute bargain when I got it. Wish I got the 12 button though, I'd rather get used to button combinations than having extra button shortcuts.. I prefer simpler things, but as it is now it's better to use the extra buttons than to ignore the extra clutter. [edit] Nevermind what I said here, I realized that for SF6 for example, having a Drive button near the thumb is much better than doing the proper button combo.
I use g16 and I love it. I put half height switches in it and they are much more comfortable. I just use the two extra top buttons as an easier to hit start/select, it's way easier than hitting the small buttons.
I just got the T16, and I can't recommend it enough. I've owned half a dozen sticks, a couple leverless, and this one is the best by far. Even compared to my $200+ Hori Fighting Edge. Decent build quality, looks good, feels great. I was worried I'd miss my sanwa buttons, but the switches feel great. As a nerd for customization, the T16 is amazing. I am speaking from a PC-only player perspective of course.
It’s great that the controller landscape is currently so good. It was extremely hard to get any kind of stick when SFIV came out. I remember the war days of calling up GameStops.
Bruh, ur actually tripping me out. I ordered this last week and I was looking to see if u did a review on it last week!! (I was the guy who left the troll comment) The title especially trips me out.
Haute42 (Cosmo) did great in the leverless market. Cheap, customizable, many settings. Overall quality is fantastic. I have a M16 since march and I have never used anything else. Competitors even started to reduce their price to align with Haute42 standards.
I recently got a Haute42 M16+ (heh, the fact they call it “M16”) and I’m loving every bit of it. I never looked at the Razer Kitsune as it was out of my budget nor did I see the features but I’m glad I made the right move to get the M16+. It’s already warming up to me naturally but I know there’s gonna be a lot more scenarios using this. Thank you for uploading!!!
I got a G13 months ago and haven't looked back. It was a grind to use but I stuck with it until I got comfortable. Its cool to look at, feels great, solid build & affordable. YMMV but for $40-50 I feel like I got a crazy deal.
I ended up getting the Haute Board Mini with the wasd and keyboard keys. Was like $20 and I love it! It's actually my preferred way to play Megaman Battle Network lol
I really disliked the Kitsune because the button layout is really wide. I was getting a lot of execution errors coming from the Snackbox which had a more narrow button layout, and my hands got fatigued really fast. I went with the S16 over the T16 because the S16 button layout is more narrow. Your thoughts regarding the size was a real problem for me, so my friend ended up getting the dimensions of the S16 and making a laser cut acrylic case to replace the original acrylic. This made my S16 about the same size as the Snackbox micro. The case leaves a little space for a booter that's permanently connected so I can take it to tournaments too. I fully believe it's the most perfect peripheral in the world! Great video!
The authentication method of this stick is a deal breaker for me. I didn't even think about using a converter on the front end. That would definitely bring this back into the possibility for me.
This video definitely put this controller on my radar. I've been looking for something to use while practicing Dr Mario speed runs and combos on my switch/steam deck.
Owt 42 It’s pronounced OWT Like oat for example. With that out of the way. Great controllers Got myself the T16 and the B16 thinking of getting the G as well
I’m using the G13 and TBH even though it’s small. It’s the same layout that all bigger hitboxes use!!! I’m just gonna pull out my 3d pen and just make it 4 inches wider on each side. EZ PZ
To clarify only game that has SOCD rules is Street Fighter atm, leaving it out for players that prefer a diff SOCD setting for other fighting games and want to compete in a tournament as well such as myself using the SOCD U setting for Tekken 8
I ordered a Haute 42 R16 and i am super excited. I noticed that pad after awhile hurts my hand so im hoping that this will decrease the pain somewhat. I also like that this has more buttons then the hitbox.
sounds like they could make a solid grippy frame for it for people who wants it in their lap, even as an addon. Could probably 3d print one too I guess.
i mean for the price this seems crazy! Perfect pricing for something I am not too sure of but want to try. Even if a dont love it it is still pretty cool. gonna get one this weekend for sure
I have the bigger one, great pad. The web configurator is very useful because I change a lot of the mappings. For example I like to have my action buttons in Tekken all in one row. Remapping buttons is easy but adjusting the LED settings afterwards is quite confusing.
I have the T16 that is the larger version of this and it's been great. I swapped out the switches with silent switches and the only sounds it makes now is when I slap the buttons. They do have a product to handle the PS5 auth called the Booter 5 that is the smallest I've found vs the Mayflash or Brooks adapters.
I've got the 13-button version of this. Liking it a lot, although the extra up button (in the WASD position) feels a little uncomfortable to me. I think it should be closer, even if that meant making it smaller so that the center of the button is closer to the down button. I love leverless for beat-em-ups but up at the bottom is too confusing in most of them, so I was hoping this would be the perfect solution for the up button, but it's pretty umcomfortable. Other than that, really nice. I have another cheap leverless (FightBox) but it's too big for me to comfortably use on a couch without immediate wrist strain. With the small haute, it's not an issue at all.
what other buttons on a regular pad can you assign for those extra buttons that are tournament legal? of course the two right buttons can be l3 r3, but what about the other 2? maybe touchpad on one, but what else? can you even asssign touchpad left on one button and touchpad right on the other? will games even recognise that?
for comfort i'd just hack off an old wardrobe door, or unused table, DIY a bit of it and voila! did the same with my keyboard since typing on the table is just uncomfortable so it's not that hard to deal with
I ordered one but accidentally ordered the 13 button version, and now I cba sending it back and reordering. But I hope the 13 button one is fine as well
I bought a Haute42 T13 as my first leverless controller not being sure of the legality of the 16 button. For the most part I am very satisfied with the controller. My only con is it is not 720 grappler friendly. I tried the slide 720 technique for a standing 720's and after a bit of practice some of the directional button caps came off. They where able to be easily reattached but never tried the technique again. Guess I will need to get a hitbox in the future for grapplers.
iirc as long as you don't have a second jump button enabled it's fine. And if you ever worry about legality, at tournaments then you can just always pop out the switch and play as if it was default hitbox layout.
ive seen videos where people are doing charge back , f,b,f moves chun-li/charlie/ehonda etc.... but with these hitbox style joysticks ... it seems like itd be a pain to do something like vegas or guiles charge down-back, then tap foward-down, back-down, then forward up (or back-up for vega) and i cant even imagine doing a mid-air 720 motion like for Maki's air-throw ult in cvssnk2
Haute has been making pretty affordable hitbox style controller i wouldnt have had the money to try otherwise + brook its quite expensive but hey thats only if ur playing for tournaments
I have one of these and it is a great budget option, however it still suffers from the terrible standard layout which places the right and left hand on top of each other. I still have no idea how this became the standard for leverless. I predict that we will start to see more controllers with more space between hands.
It's standard because flexibility for the up button is pretty useful. There are a number of reasons you might choose to hit jump with either your left or right hand, but you'll never have this flexibility if they're spread any further out.
@@hteety With where it currently is, I could hit the up button and another button not just with the same hand, but with the same thumb/finger. If they gave it just an extra inch, it would still be super easy to hit 'Up' with your right hand, even if you have tiny baby hands. There is zero reason to keep it in this layout, other than tradition. I HIGHLY recommend people take a look at Mavercade devices.
@@voidandnon-2530 If we're talking about personal preference, as someone with small hands, an inch to the right would be too far to hit comfortably with my right hand. It's both a stretch, and requires me to position my wrist more towards the center, infinitely worse than the current design where the jump is centered, and the buttons are tilted outwards towards the bottom of the controller to make it so that you don't have to twist your wrists as much. Moving that button would both make it less accessible, and ergonomically worse for people with hands my size or smaller, maybe even for those with hands ever so slightly larger than mine. in some cases, especially with older standards, asking why something is the way it is is valid. Keyboards are a great example, since the key layout sucks, and the physical layout also sucks. However, the Hitbox and Leverless controllers are new, and ergonomics is something that is already heavily considered during this time. In fact, one of the big draws is specifically the ergonomics, with many many many people reporting this current layout is what allowed them to continue playing fighting games after using sticks or even pads for a long time. This design likely wasn't based off of but feelings. Afterall, we also have models like the Smashbox for spread hand layouts that also work well. Ever wonder why despite this, the current leverless layout is the norm? Turns out, what works for you doesn't work for the majority. Even when making custom layouts, most pros choose a large, centered jump button, and both hands being in the middle. It's not like a spread layout can't work, smash players who use smashbox, boxx, or any similar device do so in what is probably considered a much more technical game than any 2D fighter, yet we've chosen to adopt the middle jump layout with close hands for a reason.
Is there any chance Haute make lefty versions of any of their controllers? It's been very hard to find both the right low-profile leverless that also has directions on the right side instead of the left.
This is almost perfect for me. I just need it southpaw and I’ll be a happy camper. (Im a person who learned fighting games using the good old arrow keys to move.)
I got less button version from aliexpress for 36USD . so far have been great . is just what i wanted a specialized "keyboard" . etc keyboard with bigger buttons
When I was deciding whether to get one a few months ago I was wondering "why hasn't NihongoGamer made a video on these yet..." Fast forward to today: maybe it's time to get a 3rd one.
i love these.! i just cant understand why they put the R1, R2 on the left and the L1, L2 on the right 😅 the thing id like to do is add those buttons to my old hitbox controller
I recently tried a similar leverless. A friend let me borrow his to give it a spin. I get the learning curve switching from pad (I’m a pad player) and a conventional arcade stick, but is it supposed to be all squished together like that? I just found aspect that to be physically uncomfortable. I’d prefer the direction buttons to be farther away. I do play some FPS on KB+M so I’m used to using my left thumb for jump. Is there a leverless (outside of building my own) that has the direction buttons farther away from the action / fighting buttons?
I'm terrible at typing. Like still look at the keyboard bad. If I've never used a leverless controller do you think I should stay far away or are they easy to get used to?
Thank you so much for your praise,I felt a great honor❤
You made this thing bro?
Im absolutely getting one
Update:
Got my S13
Absolutely loving the heck out of my Mega Man themed hitbox
Using one right now, very well done, affordable, compact, LEDs are a nice touch, totally recommend!
Any chance you design a leverless with the new magnetic switches ? They even allow to customize actuation times from 0.1mm
I’m sold gunna order one next week
I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how your materials and manufacturing costs are low enough to have this price point.
But I like it.

Too late bro, already bought the F500 Flat lol much love
Thanks for thinking of us limited budget gamers.
So if i plan on playing on PS5 where would i het an authentication device? Is just usung another stick the only work around from the time limit?
whats a good haute42 for tekken and streetfighter?
I recently tried a similar leverless. A friend let me borrow his to give it a spin. I get the learning curve switching from pad (I’m a pad player) and a conventional arcade stick, but is it supposed to be all squished together like that?
I just found aspect that to be physically uncomfortable. I’d prefer the direction buttons to be farther away. I do play some FPS on KB+M so I’m used to using my left thumb for jump.
Is there a leverless (outside of building my own) that has the direction buttons farther away from the action / fighting buttons?
There is the TikiTaka, but it breaks the $100 barrier
I'm terrible at typing. Like still look at the keyboard bad. If I've never used a leverless controller do you think I should stay far away or are they easy to get used to?
Man these arcade controllers are getting silly and im all for it😂
Does it poll at 500 Hz or 1000 Hz over USB or is it stuck to default 125 Hz?
For the authentication, can you just plug a PS5 controller?
Does it work with wingman fgc on ps5? I mean with wingman i do not need the authenticator plugged?
Can you plug in a PS5 dualshock pad to authenticate this controller?
