If anyone else has this issue, I just got done troubleshooting mine. Wasn't injector orings, hpop, icp or ipr. It was the starter. I was getting 250-350psi icp on warm starts but my rpms were about 150-175. Not enough to create enough oil pressure with the hpop. Replaced the started and it's good to go

Thanks Ron. With your help I repaired my F250 2002 IPR and now it will start when hot and not just shut down on me running down the road. Found the rear O- ring damaged letting pressure by- pass giving me low pressure/no start then hot.

That's kinda funny Nathan. I just chased a 99 doing the same thing for a week. Tried a PCM and icp. Same thing with the 3000. Got a used wire loom and installed it. So mine had power feeding back somewhere. Its a pain but you can try an overlay back to the PCM but you would need to know which one is causing it. Remember vref feeds TP CAM ICP and MAP. But also make sure you're not starving for fuel like I show in other videos. Yes I've had bad pcms and ipr cause stalling. Its going to take some

  • @DieselTechRon
    @DieselTechRon  11 років тому +1

possible fuel or idm even injector shorting out the idm. The jumper eliminates the pcm from controlling the ipr. It closes it so it goes full pressure that it can reach.

DieselTechRon: Another question that I had, when you explained and Isolated the HPOP as the faulty component, is the Old HPOP serviceable or would we have to buy a Brand New Pump? Other videos are pointing to the HPOP pressure lines seals as a major oil leak problem and as I noticed on my diesel the Turbo Pedestal seals(underside pedestal to intake) are leaking and I do have some oil sitting on top the Intake which brings about another question? Although, there is some oil leaks, Hpop lines, Turbo pedestal underside seals, Oil Level is within Range and at Mark. Wpuld minimal oil leaks cause my Hpop to fail and have to be replaced or just removed, inspected and new seals? thanx again, if I do hear back from you,..

DieselTechRonnie: I know this Video of yurs is almost 2yrs. old now. I am testing the IPR as I have a Crank/No Start situation-2000 Ford F350 Diesel, Powerstroke 7.3L Dually, 2wd, Manual Trans. I unplugged the IPR and getting ready to test with the pigtail wiring harness you suggested. My question, when this pigtail harness is hooked up and plugged into the IPR valve to test, Do You Turn the Ignition Key on as well? or Just apply the 12 volts from the Battery with the Key in "OFF" position. Two New Interstate Batteries, Newer high Torque Starter(4 yrs. ago) New Glow Plugs and Relay Installed, Two New 110 amp alternators and New Fuel Pump/New Fuel Filter Intake Side and I removed and cleaned the fuel tank and the socks then, decided to do a Hutch Mod. and omitting the Tank Filter and added Clean Diesel Fuel. I am a Female, Self Doer, and Know this truck Inside and Out now because of your reliable Expertise!! Thank You! Thank YOU! Please explain the IPR question above more thoroughly(Turn Key on/off with Test? when apply battery voltage) as I don't want to screw any electrical components up and cause an electrical surge or Fry myself! 419-557-4706

I have a p1280. I replaced the sensor a couple years ago. the plug is dry. I'm thinking the sensor is bad again. this led me here.
it runs but it doesn't want to rev up real well with white smoke.
koer throws a p1284. it kicks the test. koer glow plug test won't test either.
though I haven't pulled the covers the plugs are not burnt on the outside. these were replaced when I replaced the go pump 2 years ago.
wires don't look bad. I didn't peel them out though.
thinking I'm gonna throw a senior at it.

sorry to bother, I put new o rings in my hpop and new lines. 2000 7.3 t truck had a no start found a blown fuse maxi number twenty four. replaced fired up, ran for five mins, reved it and it died. No start after that. checked everything could find nothing. finally I noticed on the directions for the new lines and cross over line, it mentioned to discard the springs and check valve under fittings for lines on pump. seems the new fittings are different inner diameter and the springs don't fit in the fittings like on the original. I belive by not changing the springs and valves, that I may have literally torqued the spring down when I installed the oil line fittings. This is a three hose kit with bolt on hoses not snap on. Anyway I checked ipr, looks great , not sticking from what I can tell , I pushed on the piece in the center while spraying with brake fluid and id didn't seem to stick at all and seemed to open and close the ports as I would expect. I did a test on the solenoid for ipr it had an ohm reading of 11.3. I just now removed the spring poppet check valves. Have you ever had a problem like this? any suggestions? my resibour is full, i also removed the icp sensor and turned it over prior to removing spring poppets and it was just barely any oil coming like a half quart max on a long crank with that icp sensor removed. i also ran 12 volts directly to ipr and turned over no start. My theory is i basically dead headed the pump by bolting down those fittings with the spring poppets in. I haven't attempted re start yeti thought i would attempt to confer with you first . thanks a lot

i have a 95 power stroke that will not start. I gave it ether to get it home but just cranks now. Batteries are good, oil level good, fuel bowl fills when cranking, oil pressure is good, glow plug relay was replaced, cps was replaced, fuel and air filters were replaced. Its throwing 3 codes as followed : P0344 cps circuit intermittent, P0470 Exhaust pressure sensor circuit malfunction, and P0603 internal control module jam error. From what I understand none of these codes should be the reason the truck cranks but it doesn't start. Do you have any suggestions as to where I should go from here? @DieselTechRon

replaced my pump, it started up find bt still leaked... ended up replacing the "common" o ring and now it cranks and cranks and cranks.... reads 100 for the pressure and wont turn over. wouldnt think it would be my ipr sensor??? could it be that all of a sudden? i hope to god i didnt lose that little steel check ball in the pump i had it out on a rag and didnt see anything fall out so i dont know what it could be now?

Ok. I got a 2002 F-350 7.3L and when it gets down below 15 degrees it cranks and then cuts off, and when at an even lower of a temperature and plugged in, it still does that. Most certain I'm leaking oil from my ipr valve. Would that cause it to have trouble to start in the cold? It's leaking oil onto the starter and it looks pretty corroded to.

So my icp is bad when its unplugged it starts but when its plugged in it will not start. Is it ok for me to just have it unplugged until I can get a new one? and I know this is stupid but if I have the ICP unplugged will this make the check engine light come on? ( code readers can't find any codes)

My 1996 7.3 psd with 250k miles. Stock. Have a intermittent crank no start problem. My scangauge shows ICP=0 when cranking. IPR 14.8 at key ON. it has no oil on the stock ICP sensor connector. When it doess start it has good ICP and IPR Readings but can have a rough idle with the Engine shaking a bit. the sensors are so expensive and take several weeks to ship to my country so i don´t know if i should order a ICP or IPR... I have a spare CPS sensor but i don´t Think it´s a bad CPS. Shows no CEL or No codes. Passes injector Buzz test.

the used wire loom, was it the whole "master wiring harness" that has the icp, ipr, fuel bowl heater ect. connectors? and replacing that solved the problem? I also dont have any white smoke while cranking but fuel bowl fills up very quickly. The whole no start is likely to do with the wire loom correct? Thanks!

ideas? If you're lucky it's just the icp sensor. Check for a leak into the connection. If you're unlucky it's sticking injectors and it's ramping the ipr back and forth trying to get it right.

Replaced ipr and connector, with scangauge ICP reads high (3000 or so) even when unplugged. On my f-250 (that runs good) when the icp is unplugged it reads in the 700's like it should. Does this mean the pcm is acting up? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bit of a late response, sorry. DieselTechRon passed away about 9 months ago, but your issue sounds like a fuel leak, he has a video somewhere on it. Basically, a line somewhere is letting air in, which lets the fuel drain out of the fuel lines, back into the fuel tank.

Hi, got a question to diesel mechanics.
I have 2001 Ford e350 7.3 diesel cranks wont start.
It started during the travelling on the road. I drop gas pedal and cruise, and battery and fuel gauges start glitching, go to min and back to normal few times, looks like wire short somewhere and if i push gas pedal again and gain speed it all goes to normal, all gauges go back to normal. It was on running engine. As soon as i stopped it it wont start again and i towed it home.
I'd like to bring it back to life by myself as i dont have other options.
I heard about AutoEnguinity OBD Scan Tool, can I do all necessary diagnostics with this Scanner and find the problem? I found one on eBay for $30 (AutoEnginuity OBDII OBD2 Windows Scan Tool Scanner(USB))
    Thanks
    Alex

1 1/8” or 29 mm “Axle Nut Socket” is deep enough for the IPR removal. A standard deep impact is too short.

Hey what is the most likely cause for air in the fuel system on a 2000 7.3

    • @Eric_Broome
      @Eric_Broome 9 років тому

Bad injector seals forcing compression into fuel system. More common on 6.0

we have a "99" f550 7.3 will only run for 13 minutes and then cuts off. we have change pick up in the tank, fuel pump in the rail, new gas pedal.
we disconnect fuel line from fuel filter housing after it cuts off but no fuel comes out until key is cycled again.

I've got an 2000 F350 dually, 7.3L turbo diesel. the only way it'll start is if I pump the throttle, the motor drags like a bad battery until fuel gets down into the cylinders, then it turns over easily(well a lot better). if it's hot I have to do the same thing. even if I start it and turn it back off then try to restart, still have to pump the pedal.
I've checked both fuses and they are good, fuel pump on the rail is running. I even unplugged the plug at the top of the pedal and it'll start, but only if I pump the pedal, after starting the throttle has no response.
any ideas as what I could check next and if so is there a test for it?
oh, it's not throwing any codes and it has a small hesitation while driving, but clears when given more throttle.
    thanks for any reply.

conner shepherd, a friend of mine told me to check the lift pump or lift gate, (can't remember what he said it was called) after double checking with him today I'll see if i can find some videos on it to see is that's the problem. if I can't test it, I'll just buy one and see if that's the fix. I'll let you know what I find out in the next week or so. I need my dually at the end of November for a road trip, so I've gotta get this tracked down. I've left a bunch of post like the one you seen above, but I've got no response from any of the guys. I feel this guy is the best in the business, thats why I wish he would respond. lol

Not without info. Try jumping the starter solenoid to see if it's a starter or engine problem. If not use a 15/16 socket. Test for codes. Remove the belt, does it click even like the starter is engaging?
