    I'm a little surprised a diesel shop would buy a huei injector engine. There's a hundred ways they can fail, and you just showed me another one. I got a 7.3 and it's like taking a second job, just to keep it running. I just changed the engine wiring harness and fixed several problems. Currently it's running like new. One of the best truck engines when it runs.

      One of the big reasons these gals take some attention is that they are all over 20 yrs old and still on the road. That’s a badge that can’t be denied. You go to Ford for 7.3 parts and they are in stock. You have to order 6.0&6.4 parts.
      If someone doesn’t like um that’s more for us that do. I appreciate the comment and thanks for watchin.

      They run hundreds of thousands of miles when not monkeyed around with or hot rodded too much. Problem is they’ve almost all been monkeyed with too much at this point so it’s a bitch getting it straightened back out

      It happens. I have had to refill hpop res 2-3 times after working on a truck. Depending on the job. Empty oil galleys can eat up what’s in the res quickly. Also, you can fill the oil galleys themselves if needed to not use the res oil

    Kind of off subject but I’m having an electrical issue where #1 injector isn’t firing, only a tiny bit of oil coming out of deflector. Checked all wiring, swapped idm, new set of injectors and issue is still here. What am I missing ? Any help would be appreciated

    I got the 7.3 started,i swapped the solenoid from 1 ipr to another and put a icp in it started and took awhile to run right but idled fine,test drove it and ran fine but…. When i turned it off and maybe 10 min later it starts and dies till i randomly put my foot on the fuel Pedal and it fired up now i know there is no cable on it and my fuel pedal is relatively nee and dont have a removable throttle post sensor. Got any ideas?

    • @bayoudiesel

      Were you able to put some drive time on it? Usually take about 40 plus miles of driving at different speeds to burp all the air out of the system and get them to run right again

    What scanner are you using. I have tried several from the parts store and none will read ipc or ipr let alone live data.

    • @bayoudiesel
      @bayoudiesel  4 місяці тому +1

      Cheaper scanners won’t usually read live data. The one I have is an old Genesis scanner. It works well with these trucks. Some of the really new scanners have trouble also. Because these trucks came out early in the OBD 2 era.
      Fore Scan seems to work well from what I hear. I don’t have very much experience with it tho.

      Mine is an older genesis scanner. The parts stores don’t sell commercial grade scan tools. They can pull codes and do simple checks but not live data and diagnostic functions. These trucks are all 20 years old so you could do what I did and pick up one that a mechanic is getting rid of to upgrade to a newer device.

      With the icp plugged in im reading 380 with it unplugged it reads 2200 while cranking,this is with a new hpop i understand that it takes 500 psi to start why does it have 2200 psi unplugged and 380 plugged in?

    • @bayoudiesel
      @bayoudiesel  2 місяці тому

      @@ronaldlemons2836 when the pcm can’t get a good reading from the icp you can unplug it which will lie to the pcm and give it made up values to make it run. It does need to see higher than 520psi before the pcm will allow the injectors to pulse. 2200 is usual right when she would start to crank off. If you are still getting a no start with icp unplugged then that may not be your issue. Sense no smoke is visible while cranking it seems something is not allowing fuel. Could be an hpop oil issue, could be a cps issue, or fuel issue.

      Its long list,but it started with the truck having no power,so i dropped the tank and did a hutch mod and a frame mounted filter,new oem fuel pump,new fuel bowl new oem ipr,icp,hpop,exhaust sensor and tube,rebuilt 40,000 volt pcm new fuel pedal new wiring harness new valve cover gaskets, so i got it runnin and it had great power,the reason i threw new parts was i bought it with 207k and thot id update so 2 wks ago im drivin and i feel it loose power and what i mean is when id take off it would take off fine but the more i pushed the pedal it just wouldnt go and when lettin up on pedal it would miss like blahblah blah then level out, the fuel pressure is 70 psi at the bowl🙈🤷‍♂️

    Let me start over,after installing the hpop it started and ran but at idle it idled higher than before and after drivin it whe id try to start it would start and die so i put a oem ipr and a oem icp and it started good so last week i was drivin it and it died i towed it home and it cranks and no start,70 psi at fuel bowl scan tool shows 380 to icp and ipr 65% i sprayed startin fluid it starts and dies and i replaced cpm also it has a new 40,000 volt pcm but agin just cranks no start.

    • @bayoudiesel
      @bayoudiesel  2 місяці тому

      Based on that info I’m leaning towards hpop. 380 psi on icp won’t let injectors pop. As for the ipr %, at idol 9-12ish. 65% is max closed off bringing max hpop psi. Which should be in the 3000psi range. Under normal operation you will not usually see ipr opening more than the upper 30%. When it’s going to 65 (full closed) or more it is having trouble building pressure.
      Could be an hpop leak, air in the hpop system, or hpop reservoir empty.
      These symptoms will not allow pulsing of injectors so no fuel getting to the engine. Which is why she will run on either but when you stop spraying there is no fuel.

      Also when you open up the hpop oil system to change the pump,lines or injectors air gets into that system. It can take around 45 miles or so driving to burp that system and clear all the air out thus beginning to run right again.
