    Man, I miss Ron. No stupid intro, no awful music, no wasted time. Ron was all business, a blue collar straight shooter that this world is in desperate need of.
    Every Ford diesel mechanic should aspire to be like Ron.

      Lee, brother you are sooo right my friend. I'm a owner of a 2000 F-350 7.3l and still own it and still runs great. I was new to Ron's channel when the accident happened, my heart sunk! Ron was soon the only one who i watched for his expertise on the workings of diesel trucks. I really miss this guy, almost makes me cry just thinking about it 😢. Gone way to early 😢 😞 Have a Blessed night my friend. ~Jay~

    For removing the oil lines, in a pinch for time I just bought a door panel removal tool from the parts store and ground out between the "forks" to make it wide enough to slide over the fitting. Worked like a charm for $10

    Note for those attempting this job:
    -The Snap On 1 1/8 deep well socket is one, if not the only, socket that can remove the IPR probe. The end of the probe has a length/OD that clashes with the inside of most other deep well socket brands.
    -It will likely take multiple cycles of your engine turning over before it will start. And even after it starts, the next time you go to start it, it may struggle again. It takes about 50 miles to really get all of the air out of these oil lines to insure smooth starting. I have seen it clear up in less, just give it time.
    -Use this time to clean out your EBP sensor (connected to the cover plate that you remove to access the pump drive gear bolt). Be careful of damaging the diaphragm in the sensor. The tube it connects to also gets clogged with soot.
    -Oil your O rings before install.
    -Recheck your torque on the two rear bolts that mount the HPOP after you torque the drive gear. This drive gear bolt once torqued can pull the HPOP in tighter, and then required the rear bolts to be re torqued.

    • @pilgrim666butters
      @pilgrim666butters 5 років тому +3

      Jesus are you serious. I went to harbor freight and got a 1 1/8 half inch drive impact socket, and yes it is not long enough to seat on the IPR. All i had to do was drill out the inside of the socket so it would slide past the IPR stem further.... sometimes thinking works.
      Everything else you commented on was valuable info tho.

    • @mattywho8485
      @mattywho8485 3 роки тому +2

      I used a Craftsman deep 1 1/8" (from back in the day when they were made in the USA) and it worked fine, actually had depth to spare. The last sentence of your comment doesn't make any sense, how the hell is tightening the drive gear bolt going to "pull the HPOP in tighter" ???? If the drive gear bolt pulled the gear tight against the walls of the HPOP reservoir (which is what would have to happen if it were to pull the pump tighter) the gear wouldn't turn !!! All tightening the gear bolt does, is pull the gear tight to the pump shaft, it has nothing to do with the mounting of the pump.

    Do yourself a favor and put a piece of tape around the metal tube that he loosens the nut on @ 7:15 to keep it from sliding down the tube. Mine slid down into the pedestal that holds the A/C compressor, MAJOR pain in the ass to retrieve it !! Actually, this whole job was a pain in the ass !

    My HPOP came apart and shot all of the pump parts into the valley of the motor. I was wondering is this a common problem or just a random issue? Also, what would cause this? I have not removed the pump yet to see if there was any type of failure in the housing.

    I have a 2002 7.3 and it just started bogging down and shut off. it won't start at all now. I changed my cam shaft position sensor and icp also my idm. i made a fitting to go where the icp goes and put air to it and you can feel air from the oil fill tube and the oil reservoir up top. you can also hear it bubbling in there. bad o ring somewhere?

    Great video! Any tips on putting it all back together or starting up the truck once the HPOP is in. I just did mine and I have cranked it over for a total of about 8 minutes (stopping every 20 sec) and still no start...not even a sputter. Got a few bubbles out of the HPOP reservoir every time I open it. No sign of any leaks, topped up the oil rail through the ICP hole and still nothing. Is there a special startup procedure after all this is done?

    Hey Ron,
    I'm having a big problem with my 2015 f450 6.7 powerstroke. The truck keeps blowing off the fuel return lines after the injectors. There is no blockage going back to the tank and the truck only has 12,000 miles. Ford serviced everything including fuel and air already. It's throwing a p0088 code. The dealership made it clear there is no def contamination but they are blaming me for bad fuel. We fueled 10 of my powerstrokes that day at the same pump and no problems with any others whatsoever. I took a sample of the fuel out of the 2015 f450 and I'm going to get it tested. They also said they had it fixed 2 times and I drove 2 miles from the dealership and the lines blew off again. This happened 2 times in a row. Trucks been in for 3 weeks and today they are removing fuel tank and looking for metal shavings in tank. What can I do?

Looks like some oil might be dripping down my oil filter also. Do you have any points on where to look for the leak? I also have a coolant leak at the same time I already found that. Only thing I don't really like is that rides like a tank, very rough, the guys hate it, esspecially the guys in the back, LOL. They hit the roof with their heads if they don't buckle up. NAWLIN's (New Orleans), Louisiana roads are pretty rough, even in the populated areas. Thanks again, Keith

    Hey love the vids. I have a 96 ford superduty rollback. I noticed it was losing power. about a week ago it died. I had the batteries checked and they we're weak. I got new batteries. Now the truck idles fine if it's not moving. However, if you drive it a few miles it runs all the fuel out of the bowl and dies. after spinning it a few times it will crank back up but it keeps doing this over and over I've already put a new mechanical pump in it and checked the lift pump. Any suggestions???

    Oil cooler leaking? I have a video on that.

    • @snoolee7950
      @snoolee7950 8 років тому +1

      edit: I think it may be the check level oil-stick fitting on the side of the oil pan, may turn out to be an easy fix compared to removing motor.
      +DieselTechRon I do not know what is leaking, but it is leaking badly. The gas station that sold me the truck said it is the oil pan, so that means removing the motor to fix it. I had to replace my pressure washer engine so now I can clean off the motor. I will probably end up spending $2k for motor remove/ replace to fix oil pan leak. I knew this when I bought the truck/ '96 F250 7.3. No problem, someone has to do- give some care to this truck, call it a truck rescue. PS drip drip drip drip front region of motor, not rear.
