Episode 220 - 226 is filler except the very last of Ep. 226 from 19:30. Water Seven begins at 19:30 in episode 226.
We need to get this to the top.
@@crazyaspe1926 Yeah, ep 227 and 228 is canon but the last labeled on Long Ring so it's easy to assume it's filler and then start at 229. He said something like"pick it up again in 229" so that's why I wrote. Maybe I heard wrong tho
It's very telling that you noticed that the Strawhats feel somewhat dumb and as if they aren't trying to win with the exception of Nami & her team. That's because aside from Nami's team and Porche's team all the other additional boats are also filler - none of them take part in that race in the manga. This arc is primarily so frustrating because once again the filler is mixed together with canon, and as a result it lets the canon elements of this arc look bad, too. In the manga it's a fun read of 14 chapters from where Foxy appears to where we last see him. In the anime I just skip the Foxy episodes completely because it's impossible to filter out the filler nonsense.
Exactly ! Couldn't agree more. This arc is damn near unwatchable to watch all the way through. I can guarantee Nerdy will get bored.
One Pace fixed it. Mostly.
6:13 Luffy does actually have a limit of how far he can stretch - it's 56 gomu gomus. It's the only answer Oda's ever given, no idea what it means in real world units.
oda really loves to give us answers that mean absolutely nothing 😂😂 such a troll
I think you're a little off on the episodes. 229 starts the next Canon arc yes but the end of 226 to 229 is Canon and very important. It's part of long ring arc in the manga
As others have already mentioned, these episodes have filler and canon stuff mixed. In the manga, Zoro, Chopper, Luffy and Sanji are just watching the race. They only interfere by beating up the audience, who try to stop Nami's team. But when Luffy and the others should actually help more, the foxy pirates distract each one by giving: food to Luffy, alcohol to Zoro, candy to Chopper, and Sanji gets hit on by a group of women.
That makes so much more sense.
After the filler you'll want to come back at episode 226, not 229.
Porche is actually very underated as a R34 character, to be honest.
If I remember correctly, Oda is a big fan of the old Hana Barbara cartoon, Waky Races. And this is ark is sort of an odo to that ere of cartoons.
Were you ever confused about Oda's "looney tune style" its really "Hanna - Babara" style.
Wacky Racers ( Dastardly Dan/ Foxy, Muttley/ Hamburg).
Scooby Doo( meddling teens exposing career criminals every town they go, with a talking pet in tow.
Johnny Quest.
Flintstones (use of animal technology )
Just remember half of what you see in this arc is not canon, this arc is very complicated to explain what did happen in the manga and what didn't, you need to read it to understand
Water 7 will surpass Jaya and every other arc you've seen so far. People hype it up, you think it can't possibly reach that level of hype, and then it delivers.
you'll never know with this guy 😂
@@Illuminaticthat's kinda true but on the other hand water 7/enies lobby is just too darn good not to like
I love that mid vid Nerdy just googles Porche rule 34 not out of lust so much as curiosity. Lol
God, I love that EVERYTHING is so stupid and goofy in this arc, eveything is so funny to me in LRLL.
For the record, the extra contestants in the Barrel Race are filler. In the manga, it only contestants were Porchy's crew and Nami's crew. Luffy and the others didn't race. So the trick with the Dave Back Fight in the Manga, each crew member can only participate once in an event. So Chopper getting picked, put Zoro and Sanji at a disadvantaged because Luffy can only battle the captain. Foxy having such a large crew means he can literally throw bodies at the events.
10:46 😂 never crossed my mind but that will forever be my headcannon especially because a silver fox is normally an older man that is still good looking 😂
Nerdy should just read the 12 remaining of this arc on stream😅.
It would take only couple hours lol
I actually love this idea👏🥰
For Long Ring Long Land, Toei padded it out and doubled it. Unfortunately that affected the canon material.
Episodes 213 through 216 are anime canon, they are not in the manga. Because of all of the extra material they added, the transition to Water 7 is also different than it was in the manga.
You'll actually need to come back at episode 226. It is mostly made up but like some of the other fillers we've had, they do have canon information that you will need.
It's okay to not like this arc. They screwed it up in the anime. Badly. And you're right about going from one fluffy arc to another fluffy arc, it would have been better if they were split up by something a little more serious.
The next saga makes up for it. That's all I'm going to say about that
Basically two teams participated in the race Nami team and porche team because of rule is that every member can only participate on one game
They took chopper because he was in the second game
Come back at 227 (or may be 2nd part of 226)
Not 229
227 & 228 are one of the most important episodes
It would be VERY funny if Sanjis character arc takes him to a climax of "its okay to hit women too"
water seven and ennies lobby is so good, i cant wait to see the reaction
It's like you said, LRLL is a fun breath of fresh air after Skypiea. G8 takes away the need for that. That's why I personally recommend to either skip G8 altogether or to watch movie 6 straight after and before diving into LRLL. Aside from movie 6 being really good, it's intense enough that LRLL works again as the fun break between arcs.
You're right about the placement of this arc. Oda likes to do small breather arcs between huge emotional ones. And I know I've said it before but this is what the anime will do in the future. Adding "anime canon" as padding for no reason. In the manga this is goofy funny and has a brisk pace, the anime slows it down quite a lot. OR are they doing some meta-narrative stuff with how Foxy's fruit slows things down, even the arc? What do I know?
Oh btw, I love the father son dynamic of Zoro and Chopper so much!
I would say Zoro is more like an older brother Chopper is looking up to, but yeah, I agree with the dynamic of them
@@ritsu245 spoilers::
Nah big bro will always be Franky
Just in time for Olympics season
You're not coming back after the filler at 229? Ep 227 and 228 is highly canon and important. Like really. I can see it says Water 7 starts at 229 but the Long Ring Long Land arc is continuing and end with 227 and 228
i think you & a certain vtuber reacter are my favorite people currently catching up on this series
Long Ring Long Land and the Davy Back Fight was done because the creator of the manga enjoyed some of the filler arcs of the anime, and wanted that sort of feeling in one of the manga arcs.
Then the anime added filler episodes to it.
This arc in the manga is a little quick fun game to take a break before what comes next. Because in the anime they mix it up with filler so much, its downear unwatchable.
And the worst part is that, contrary to other arcs, if the humour doesnt work for you, there is absolutely nothing else left to enjoy because theres nothing else going for it.
I think this arc is very fun
Anime Wins is in about the same spot as you are, so when you started this I was terribly confused, wondering "Did I skip a video???"
Yeah the main issue with this arc is that the manga didn’t take as long and they dragged it out.
Luffy is having too much fun to think of cheating.
Oh wow, I didn't know they added so much filler to the boat barrel race. This is hard to watch.
Pacing will be a problem with the anime going forward, as the animators work in filler to canon material. They had no choice, of course, as you can do 2 to 3 manga chapters in 1 anime episode. They were getting too close, the anime rarely takes a week off, and Oda usually takes every third or fourth week off on manga chapters. It's annoying, but there's so much good stuff in there we forgive.
At the time Oda barely took any break. But still, yeah for decent pacing you'd need around 2 chapter per episode for something as dense as One Piece and that's just not sustainable for a weekly anime.
Theoretically, there's no limit to the number of manga chapters you can adapt into one episode of the anime, but yeah, if you want a WELL-PACED adaptation, 2-3 is usually the max).
9:26 that's against the rules. This is an ancient pirate tradition. Foxy has turned it into more of a game but this is all about being a true pirate. Luffy wouldn't cheat his dream.
Long Ring Long Land is way better in the manga. Your point about needing a shipwright is good, there's some teamwork dynamics and the pros and cons of powers and abilities. The anime drags out Foxy too much, his bits are good but the anime overuses an acquired taste.
then you say 'i dunno the fish man's kinda hot" yeah, favorite OP reacter with alicia
they need Water 7
They can mix it well but decided not to... Maybe they are burnt out after G8... Should've take 2 weeks break to get good pace but oh well it has been redeem on the 1k+, 200 to 1k it's what you get
He slows time for what's hit, not the atoms.
This arc is one of the reassons why many skip to the manga for this one when recomended, the anime here butchered the pacing of the arc by mixing filler with canon, in this set of episodes for example, it was only nami, ussop and robin in the race while the rest where part of the audience only interfiiring when foxy's crew mess with Nami's team, sadly the anime messed up this fun air breather of an arc.
yeah foxy is the worst devil fruit user
The anime definitely adds to this arc feeling like filler. Half of it is filler after all.
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
It's a no win situation for Foxy. Losing the games is his best case scenario.
Interestingly, at that point Oda wasn't planning to extend the story to the current length, so an inclusion of an arc that seemingly doesn't have any relevance to the main plot is weird. Tho I wouldn't put past Oda to make this one of the most important arcs lmao.
I'm never going to like this arc no matter how I hard I try.
thats the arc where I would have taken away toei's rights to animate the story. they butchered alabasta by mixing filler with canon. they butchered skypiea with horrible pacing IMO. And now they butcher another arc by mixing filler with canon. thats 3 strikes. you're out. give it to some other studio.
but they are still allowed to butcher it to this current day. there is a chapter in the 2nd to last arc where we meet a person, this person gets in trouble, we save that person. toei turned that ONE CHAPTER into 3 seperate episodes. It's a good thing that one piece is the greatest story ever because even when a studio tries to ruin it with everything they have, its still good.
Oh, complain away about this arc, don't worry about the fandom reacting badly to your videos.
Everyone hates the Foxy arc as well, especially in the anime, where it's so badly executed and filled with idiotic filler stuff.
The only reason I can't tell you to skip it entirely is that this a much needed light-hearted bonding adventure before shit hits the fan in Water 7 and there's a massive canon story setup at the end of the arc.
So, yeah, hang in there.
EDIT: Also, the other commenters are right, you DEFINITELY should come back to the show in the second half of episode 226, not episode 229, that's too late. During that second half of 226, it's when proper Water 7 story kicks in. At very least, start with 227, I guess you can catch up through the recap of that episode.
🖐️ 🌈 🤚 Foreshadowing
I think the problem is that Long Ring Long is just…not that funny? Despite their issues, I had a ton of laughs in Skypeia and Thriller Bark, but aside from one or two small moments…Foxy was not funny, his crew was not funny, the cheating was not funny, even the Strawhats were less funny. There were still some bits I liked, like Zoro and Sanji being forced to work together, but it was just not funny or entertaining enough to be worth the drag

I hope the new one piece anime will make this arc better.
I'd draft Robin for sure. She can read that old language on the Poneglyphs. Without those One Piece doesn't really seem to show it's plot or move the plot forward.
This is definitely one of the weaker arcs of the story and it's unfortunately made even worse by the anime. They added a bunch of stuff and really tried to stretch this bad boy out to the limits of what is acceptable lol
Foxy is so annoying -.-
Yea... its been years since I saw this arc. With all the hindsight and new developments later on in the show I can definitely say: It still sucks so, so much. Would've been more fun if it came directly after Skypiea and was shorter, but in reality... Just kick it out of canon and put G8 in...
Isn’t this arc filler ?
Nope.
It has filler elements, half of it is made up for the anime, but it is not filler.
fun fact : A long time ago on the pirate island, Rocks D. Xebec won a Davy Back fight and gathered his legendary crew to form the ROCKS pirates.🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠
Ain’t no way 💀
