Just to clarify, Pluton is the ancient weapon. Iceberg had the blueprints that were used to build it, but Robin has the means to find its current location using the Poneglyphs. Also rewatching this arc reinforces how absolutely cracked Oda is at foreshadowing.
Let him cook; he'll either figure out that Iceburg wanted to blueprints to fight fire with fire or notice something we haven't by thinking a different way or both
Pluton is *one of* the ancient weapons (plural)
the one piece theory brain has been activated. one of us. one of us
SPOILER ALERT:
Him saying the world would go under and not be destroyed rly made me think especially with the newest chapters

Aqua Laguna + Enis lobbies odd properties + recent events are all connected

Making Kalifa the algorithm goddess?
That's sexual harassment.
using the same joke on multiple videos? That's sexual harassment.
Nerdy-"I love when Oda plays with horror tropes"
Saving that one for later.
5:06 now you know why Robin was so shocked that Gold Roger had left his message on the Golden Belfry at Skypiea
We luv some theories
"I need to keep going, I can't stop here."
Good Good.
"Let the peak flow through you..."
9:39 "Luffy is so outmatched. Like, how could Luffy get better?"
I love how quickly Water 7 made Nerdy changed his mind; I remember how post-Skypeia, Nerdy's response to every threat and enemy was "Luffy literally beat God, how can anyone ever beat him?".
Nerdy: "That idiot has the blueprints."🤣
Also Nerdy a few minutes later: Franky actually might be the main villain and secretly building the Pluton.
"Wait, so she didn't even do anything? Just because she has some information?" The next arc is going to break this man.
Pluton is an ancient weapon. In fact you’ve heard about it before. Crocodile was looking for information on it in Alabasta and specifically asks Cobra about it. That’s why he had Robin as his partner. He wanted her to read the poneglyph in Alabasta that reveals how to find Pluton.
The plot twists in One Piece are really unbelievable , they just come out of nowhere.
these two episodes further why water 7 is so peak
also imagine working for a few years with some coworkers and then one day 5 of them are like "yea we work for the CIA"
I like how looking back, you can see Kaku and Kalifa asking questions like "Why would the Government be after Iceburg?" and get a different meaning out of it.
The subs were 'the world would go under'... The Japanese was 'the world would be destroyed'.
DUB also corrects this translation error.
Oh, you got a very good hunch of "something is not right here", Nerdy. I'm shocked how naive and blind I was during my first watch.
Same! I didn't even think that much about Pluton's existence and the ancient weapons and the Aqua Laguna and "the world going under" I was just going on vibes and not thinking much about world building or theories
Me not clueing in on stuff I’ll attribute to reading this as a kid and just going along with the story.
You know Nerdy is serious about watching the episodes when there's no cut of him singing along to the opening with made up lyrics
"go under" is a phrase that can mean destroyed, but I'm curious to see what the original line in Japanese is.
In the manga's official translation, he doesn't say the phrase "go under" he just says the ancient weapons would destroy the world. So it may have been just a dialog choice they made for the anime (and maybe just the translation for the subtitles?). It would be nice to have someone who could directly speak/read the original Japanese to get a better breakdown. Since localization sometimes loses meaning.
it’s so funny watching him theorize who the next straw hat is gonna be 😭
0:21 spoken like a true king
22:26 yare yare and Ara Ara are completely different things👀
I mean... they both are basically just sighs with different emphasis.
Yare yare =groan (annoyed)
Ara ara = hmm (sexy)
Alelele = hm? (Curious childish)
Goda cooking 24X7 since 1997
I’m all caught up, but rewatching this and your analysis blew my mind. I did not see all these little hints on my first watch
I was just thinking this!
The CP9 reveal is still one of my favorite. I was spoiled for A LOT but I’m so glad this wasn’t one of those things.
fyi: aqua laguna brings water from Long Ring Long Land. That's why the old man (Tonjit) said that once a year, when the sea level lowers, the ten islands are connected in a ring shape.
You really feel for Paulie in this situation because he has worked and bonded with these people for years and he just got the rug swept out from under him.
What's wild is that there just wasn't a big bad for so long, and the crew was getting battered anyway
Friendly reminder, skip episodes 279-283, 291, 292, and 303. watch them all in a row after the end of the arc, or don't watch them at all IDGAF. This filler ruins the pacing of the arc. I'm going to post this in the comments a lot.
"The world will go under" is not an accurate translation. The more literal translation would be "the world will be ruined."
I’m loving your theory crafting, very interesting 🤔
It’s so fun to see you be so close yet so far away on your theorizing
Oh you're theorizing! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
Damn, you got here finally.
The point where things start to go wild.
This stuff is so freakin good, I wish I could see it again fresh. Have fun on this ride!
If I remember my fun facts right, Oda went into Water 7 & Galley-La with the intention of designing people as people, not as secret agents. When it was time for the reveal to happen, he chose the shipwright characters and twisted the character/personality he already made to fit the government agent role they would have going forward.
nerdy you're a fucking genius
Right??? He blew my mind
Words are very important in this story. Over-analyzing and theorizing is pretty much the lifeblood. People have spent hours picking apart single sentences just to reach a conclusion that wound up being very accurate. They've also done the same to wind up so far off base it was ridiculous.
There's also the occasional poor translation that will send someone down a non-existent rabbit hole.
The reveal of CP-9 is a surprise to most people. I haven't come across a reactor who saw that coming.
Gonna keep going, huh? Yeah, this arc makes people truly appreciate the opportunity to binge.
i'm in awe for his theories...
definitely misjudges Franky lol
No spoilers, but in retrospect, some of these word choices really are very interesting to revisit.
Yea, it's nice to hear someone get something so right this early in the series. It makes me wonder what I would have learned if I savored One Piece, rather than speeding through it.
so you are kinda right
As others have already said the blueprints could make a new pluton and robin could find the already built one
But yeah the reason people like iceberg and tom even kept the blueprints was for the case someone found the already built ship for evil and to then have a simultanously strong counter against it
Many of your questions in this episode are on point
Wording in One Piece is important. Many times have I thought it was a bad translation only to later discover it actually needed certain words or a sentence had to be structured that way
But also sometimes it does turn out to be a bad translation
Also some words or phrases don’t translate very well so things get lost in translation. Sometimes it’s a small but very important detail.
@@SensiBurning90 Which is not surprising, because the translators don't know what Oda's planning
@@rantingrodent416 not to mention early One Piece had that translator who made a lot of it sound like stereotypical pirate talk. Highly doubt that’s what Oda wrote.
It will never not entertain me to see first time reactors have the same reaction my brother and I did when we both saw the unveiling of Cipher Pol
Actually we already met the anti luffy in an earlier arc
7:11 watching this reaction made me realize more how goated Oda is in cooking with foreshadowing.
Holy shit let him cook. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone get to this theory so early in the show
Someone is thinking with portals.
I was completely addicted at this point and couldn't stop. I don't know how you're gonna be able to only watch 2 episodes at a time 🤣🤣🤣
It's crazy that this is kinda relevant in the current manga. Such foreshadowing.
Is the second best betrayal in anime history😢
"how could luffy get better?" Yeah that rubber thing is a problem. It's not like luffy can just scream for 3 episodes and go super saiyan. He really does need to get his shit into gear . . . for this one.
I wish I was reading One Piece when this reveal happened...I bet the internet went wild when that chapter came out
"Go under" is just insane
6:00 what an interesting theory, I'm not sure I've seen anyone think of that from this information. However, I should point out that Crunchyroll subs aren't the best translations in places - in the official manga translation of chapter 344, Iceburg just says that the world will be destroyed.
Yeah. The literal translation would be more in line with "destroyed" or "in ruin."
that One Piece theory Kool_Aid hits hard
I love your unhinged ramblings
6:07 you are pretty good mate
One Piece is a give and take. It gives you an epic reveal, and it takes all of your time. :D
You said something that makes me think that you might really enjoy the arc after Enies lobby 😂
You were on fire for sometime but at a certain moment you Lost your way. Yet it's so interesting seeing you theorize like a true OP fan.
the reveal was one of the ost unexpected things in the whole show X_x

Never trust a guy who never uses their true voice, and the long nose! Besides, you will never know a bartender's secret life, and a secretary has "secret" in the their job title to start with
So much good shit that will still happen in this arc, because we're far from done yet!
To clarify about the Pluton, by the way; Iceberg has the blueprints to create it, as they have been passed down by generation after generation of Water 7 shipwrights. Robin understands the poneglyphs, which as far as we know, can "help her find it's current location", so theoretically, as far as I understand, the legendary ship is out there, yes, and also a new one can be created, so both are ways to get the ancient weapon. Pluton IS the ancient weapon, they aren't different things.
"for no reason"? they were defending themselves in Zoro's eyes, and i'd say they were, cause those townsfolk were out for blood by that point.
Your theories are very smart and interesting😱👍
Kaku's reveal F-ing hurt me.
My first thought was Pauli too!
I find your speculation about the word "under" both pertinent because it's interesting with the worldbuilding of the Aqua Laguna coming in, and hilarious too because I think you're reading too much into a translation right now. That being said, that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep speculating about this, just that you probably shouldn't put too much trust in a specific English word that isn't present in most other translations, at least not without figuring out how that was written in Japanese.
Going under is just an expression for going bankrupt which can make for a good figure of speech for "destruction" (which is in fact the translation chosen by other versions, I know at least two different translation in two different language, English and French, who translated this part as just "the world will be destroyed" and before anyone asks, no I don't know if these translations are more faithful to the Japanese version or not, that would be an interesting thing to check). Specific language aside though, please do keep speculating about this, the stuff you mention is really interesting and I don't necessarily think it's wrong, I just think that if it's true, it's probably not because of the specific word used in the subtitles.
franky general grievous comparison is wild..... so instead of smokers lungs he just has diabetes cause he runs on soda? lol
The theories were theoring this reaction lmao sheeesh wont specify to avoid spoilers but damn
Now I would love to know what the actual original Japanese phrasing/meaning of that 5:41 moment is and whether it's really about "going under", because the way it's translated is definitely curious. In the official translation of the manga, the translated sentence is "The whole world will be destroyed", which is much more generic-sounding (edit: for reference, it's chapter 344).
Just saying, because sometimes it's pointless to get so hung up on specific phrasings, only having access to a translation into English, which is subject to errors and loss in meaning. I'm curious if it's the case here.
Word choices can be VERY important... just the sub and dub have a hard time conveying that.
@@matthewpopow6647 Exactly, it's just that the translation used here can imply something that maybe the original never did, that's why I'm now wondering what's the actual original Japanese phrasing used in this specific moment.
The manga translation is accurate.
@@odajoana of this one, I don't think there's anything explicit.
Just adding to the other comments on here with a little more context: 5:41 - the verb said in Japanese is "horobu" (滅ぶ - included here if you want to copy/paste for searching) and "go under" is a more colorful way to translate it. More literally it is just what other commenters have said: "ruined," "destroyed," "die out," etc. 👌
Edit - One Piece constantly had me theorizing like this before, and not knowing if I should be concerned about translation is what led me to self-studying Japanese, so I get why people might assume things incorrectly based on the subs/dub. I wish I could say that the sub translators were aware of double-meanings or clever wordplay, but most examples are just coincidence. I wouldn't be nearly good enough to translate from scratch, but I wish I could edit the official subs so they either had correct inferred meaning or better wording to avoid confusion.
Listening to his schizo predictions is so entertaining. One minute he's cooking and I'm like "there's no freaking way" then he flys it around on some bat shit conspiracy theories!
Sounds pretty much on brand for One Piece theories. There’s some WILD ones out there.

Thinking that Pauli joins the crew is craaazy, not only because its true but also because the dynamic between him and Sanji are also pretty close to what he described. Pauli is goated though. And I don't share your views about women. Men can put stipulations on women the same way women do so on men, and the world keeps spinning.
