Good story, love to see these. Wish they were longer. Viewers, let this be a lesson. Make time to create a simple spreadsheet of your PC. I also suggest when finished, reach out to your insurance company for a price on an additional rider to homeowners policy for cards or get quotes from collectable insurance companies. Theft, fires, flooding etc is all a real possibility. And if you pass on the insurance route, it would be very easy for spouse, kids etc to email your spreadsheet with last dated update to prospective buyers. If I were buying a collection and a seller had a list, I could make a quicker offer as well as they can shop for the best deal. Just a couple thoughts as I watched this, keep up the great content!

About 2 years ago i came across a lid selling his Dad’s 1986 Fleer basketball set. MJ was headed PSA 7. He was listing it all for $275. I told him that he needed to do his homework before selling amd told him the market value of the MJ alone. I couldn’t do it to him, not after learning that his Dad had died and we was 17 looking to get some money to buy a car. I don’t usually educate sellers on their stuff but the 86 Fleer set is near to my heart. Probably the only nice thing I’ve ever done in my life and it felt good.

I'm like you, if I'm a buyer, it's not my job to educate sellers on what they have... BUT, in situations like this, you absolutely did the right thing!!! I couldn't, in all consciousness, swoop in and pay peanuts for that, knowing the back story. I hope the young lad sold them all for great money, and it helped with more than just buying a car. Every good deed is returned in one way or another. Hope you have a great weekend, mate. 👍
As a collector mysef, I just love to see those binders all lined up (or any collectible really). So much thought has gone into it, so much time, so much effort, and so much money spent in collating that over the years, sadly, for this very day. It looks fantastic, and has certainly made his family's job a LOT easier!
Seeing collections like this gives me the kick up the ar*e I need to make sure I correctly label my entire collection, so that future generations know what I have, and the stories behind them, before I 'snuff it'. Have kept a pretty solid record over the last 10+ years of where I've got every autograph... just need to 'sign-post' it all.

Thanks for the link to the article. Happy that the family received more than what they asked for and that it is with a collector who truly appreciates the work of this super fan. I, like you, am a Red Sox fan, but appreciate the greatness of the Yankees in part because of my father-in-law’s love for the team. He used to called them “his boys”. He knew that I did a little collecting and that we were fans of Babe Ruth ( when he was with the Red Sox of course). He told us a story of when he caddied for the Babe and got a ride home with him from the golf course! No Babe Ruth signed ball but just a nice little story. Love your videos! Keep them coming.

I met this guy 2 years ago working at a card shop in Oregon. He told me about this collection then, but not in the details available now. So Happy for Eric to have this come through for him!

I'm a Yankee fan too (please, no booing), so I really appreciate this one. I gotta imagine there's plenty of kids and widows out there who get taken advantage of because they don't know the true value of a collection. I'm glad this wasn't the case this time.

There was a huge collection of vintage found here in central FL last week. They showed a bunch of Ruth and other famous cards

I love those whom are single team collectors because that a big part of how the hobby was created. The old man would sell his cubs & white Sox at Chicago shows and buy up tiger then sold them in his shop in michigan. It was the circuit in the 80s before ebay. I had a nice tigers collection in the 2000s. Tigers are easy you had to pay up for the 54 kaline, but after that a 48 to present tiger collection was easy. I don't have much left however. The curse of being a card dealers son is everything is for sale. I have just an average collection now, but in my 20s when money was tight baseball cards paid for my rent.

No.. Yes. Cubs all the way, but I do collect short prints, SSPs of most modern players.
Although certainly not an obligation, it would be cool if he came back to the family after selling most of the rest with a check for a portion of his profits.
I remember story.Maybe 10 years ago where a lady called the card shop and said my husband died.Can you come take these cards and get them out of my garage if you want them. I guess when the guy got there. They were all basketball cards and pristine condition that were in vending boxes from the sixties, he used to work for a company that filled up those vending machines that had cards in them.
Never ever saw a vending machine that dispensed cards and I am damn old. Learn something new everyday.
I completely am fine with making a good profit on collections etc and alot of work involved but I hope he did reward the family for the lifetime of what this guy collected. He definitely meant for his family to profit off of it.

And one more thing does leaf ow the trademark to the old press pass cards. Because I was wanting to buy it. So I could create an 18 and over product with only fans models. I had big plans. A girl worn underwear, Lacey bra's a couple scratch and snitch like the old hustler, magazines and then one of ones that you would get a date with the model

I mainly collect just braves and bills but I will branch out and buy other teams or players. Hopefully my braves collection will be like that one day 🤞

Why does he pump Just Collect, they are the biggest thieves in the business, they think every collection to be found is going to be theirs.... Screw them, this guy Eric is a thief too, dealers think they own every collection to be found, and they rip people off on the buy all the time, F them...... BEWARE NEVER SELL TO JUST COLLECT OR ANY CARD SHOP OWNER EVER!!
And by the way, I'm looking for a product that came out in 2002 2003.The had jeter on the front and each box came with the autograph cap. I think it was fleer product
