Dear Sir Luis Orta! Thank you for sharing such amazing content. If it is not too much to ask, can you give me some advice on how to pull the leg through. Maybe you have some neurological cues that could help me to bring my leg forward using my backside mechanics more instead of overusing the hip flexors. Where from do you initiate the movement when you pull the heel towards the glutes? All the best to you and greetings from Vienna, Janette
I am all about warming up before a run but it seems the research on stretching is that it actually increases your chances of injury. Only very gentle stretching is fine (to maintain your flexibility) and only when warmed up (for example *after* a run). And it kinda makes sense to me. Stretching means putting significant load on your tendons and muscles which you then follow with another significant load due to the training. Then the tendons and muscles are keeping things in place -- when they get loosened up just before the run what you get is tendons and muscles which are a bit worse at keeping things together. I also noticed that runners even if they do stretching, they rush through it to get to the actual running (can't blame -- that's why we run!) But this results in hurried, explosive, imprecise moves. Stretching should be done very slowly and precisely. Rushing through it can cause injuries on its own.
