It may have felt like forever, but in competition and enough other runners of similar ability you can absolutely run sub-30 at altitude. You were partially solo so getting that close was very impressive and being able to muster a 2:55 final K makes it a certainty. Good job brother.
This video is amazing. The commentary really makes the video. All of us runners get negative but getting outta that mindset is what makes the great ones. Thanks for the video. Great motivation here
Superb effort especially for the last km finish! On IG I had predicted 30:25 because I believed altitude would have its go a little harder! I was 1”/km off but you did great!! I hope you manage to break the NR!! Good luck!!
Incredible video. Nice to hear you talk about the workout afterwords. Not many of us say things relative to "if you're trying to break a national record." Good to hear your perspective.
@@ortaluis absolutely man, I know you wanted to keep all KMs at 3 min flat but yeah bro I think going 3’ 05” down to 2’ 54” throughout the run probably would have gotten you the result! I’m sure you’ll get it next time and that elevation is no joke! I used to live closer to (Virginia Tech) Blacksburg area and although we aren’t a mile in the sky the elevation is still close to 3000 feet in some areas and I definitely could tell it was harder to run in those conditions. I have been measuring my V O 2 Max recently and that has been an interesting fitness measure.
Great video Luis! You will absolutely reach all the goals you set for yourself, for sure, with all the hard work and dedication you have, you will accomplish anything
Besides the great athlete that you are Luis, your videos are amazing and show how humble and down to earth you are. Keep it coming with everything, we will continue supporting you and your content. Cheers.
I felt you at 29:48…: way to go and way to inspire… Running on the treadmill as I type and enjoying more of your videos. I have my first 10k on Memorial Day in a week. You got me pump, I won’t run know 30, but I’ll run with heart
Felicidades!
Great video, very helpful to hear your km-by-km thoughts and strategies. I'm running my own 10K time trial this week, I was wondering what your warm-up/cooldown routine was on the day? And did you have easy runs the day before/after, or rest days? Thanks!
Hi! I would love to know at what heart rate you are running these really fast 10ks at. When I’m trying to go for a really fast run („for me fast“) my heart is going to 190 sometimes. I need to try 5 and 10k on a track soon because on my runs I always have some altitude which make my heartbeat go up so fast. Really fun to watch these videos btw :)
Excellent stuff Luis! I notice that you are definitely a cadence runner. Have you or your coach ever explored to lower your cadence and increase stride length? Just curious.
How often do you do a time trial like this? I usually do it every 3 months just to see where my fitness is at, but wasn't sure if I'm doing it too often or too little.
Thank you for the question! I would say it's important to log in track workouts in your training, it definitely gives you speed and activates those fast twitch muscle fibers for more intense bursts
Brilliantly made video. And Luis Orta, you are a rock star. The passion and the honesty just shines through
really impressive on all levels, particular the honesty and mental approach...great work!
Thank you Russa! It means a lot.
Thank you so much for watching!
30:11 in that high of Altitude is still amazing!
Thank you 🙏

Good job brother.
Thank you and yes I feel like if I tried again I can dip under 30!

Thank you! You were pretty close in your time estimate
Incredible video. Nice to hear you talk about the workout afterwords. Not many of us say things relative to "if you're trying to break a national record." Good to hear your perspective.

Buenísimo Luis!!! Yo corro ahora en Quito, altura de 2850 mts 🥵 pero bien, te adaptas.

I did my army APFT on that exact track
Nice!!

U 6 great runner sir😊😊😊😊

What is your recovery like after an effort like this?
I talk about it in one of the latest videos of Q&A! Check it out
Man on 1600+ ..omg
haha, thanks for watching!
Nice 👌
🫡
How much would you credit your speed to trackwork? I have never tried but run for a decade.
Thank you for the question! I would say it's important to log in track workouts in your training, it definitely gives you speed and activates those fast twitch muscle fibers for more intense bursts
Running 2:17 marathon doesn’t mean you can run under 30 min in 10k. If you prepare marathon you prepare marathon. So the parameters are diffirent.
I have a 28:32 10k time! You?
Sir I want to become an athlete like u and break the world record of 10k and 5k my current timing of 5k is 16.07 please help me and love from India
How ?
You can do it 👍
@BOGDAN SERBAN 😂😂😂😂😂
Sir your event
1sec per K Damn that hurts
I know haha
I just started running but what is best to do so I can keep myself running long term like this ?
Consistency and patience! Keep it up
