I like all of Kephart's books. He did a lot of adventuring around my neck of the woods so it's pretty cool to be in the same area he learned some of this stuff.
My personal favorite outdoor manual is the Handbook for Boys Fifth Edition from the late 1940's. Yes, an older version of the boy scout handbook. I found a vintage copy at the local book store for $10.
Another good one is "Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine: 550 Herbs and Remedies for Common Ailments" its like $22-$23 and hardcover with lots of color pictures.
One of your best and most informative videos, lately. I agree with your choice of books and thanks for the advice on what to choose. Kind regards from Croatia :)

Great video. I was actually surprised being new to learning survival skills that I had a few of the books you had. Plus you gave me a couple new ones to add to my library. Thank you
I get the more ''story'' type books on Kindle so I can read them when there's a few minutes spare in the day and they've got me through a few illnesses/injuries too. The reference ones I get as books, took out Richard Mabey's, Food For Free (more a north west Europe book) in pocket size yesterday, it takes away a bit of the worry of picking the wrong plant and it adds something to a hike when you identify something new (to you).
Thanks Ben! Another great informative video! I did pick up the tree ID book and I'm waiting for Bark to get here. Thanks for the recommendation a few weeks ago. Keep up the good work!!
I enjoyed On your Own in the Wilderness by Townsend Whelen / Bradford Angier. Thanks for sharing some titles - There were a couple I do not have and will get forthwith.
Theirs a smaller SAS survival guide that I bought it so small you can put in your pocket not saying these are bad I just like this one because it's smaller than my hand great video by the way keep it up
Great Video. I recently read the book Going Home it is a fictional story but anybody that build a bug out bag or get home bag or any kind of survival kit would really like this read thanks again
I have the the Cody Lundin Book 98.6... The comical characters make stuff easier to remember. I know the basics but a good first aid book is important. A recent book I read was " How to stay alive in the woods" By Bradford Angier.
I am no experienced hunter or farmer my self...so a book with good illustrations... : Basic Butchering of Livestock & Game by John J. Mettler Jr. Also includes chapter on preservation. Just got it.

lolI finally got my Android phone, went back and watched the video. To be honest, I have a hard time learning from reading. I need visual instruction or hands on. However, I still pan on expanding my physical library as reference.

Maybe look at primitive technologies new book. Or shelters, shacks and shanties if you want shelters. Could also look at early woodworking books.
