The gels use those colors in their names as those are the two colors of springs. Green uses red, as they both have extreme height. This leaves the cyan to use yellow.
Glad to see you're back, and that the quality has improved a ton (both figuratively and literally) :) That aside, I noticed the pacing is a little bit rapid in this video, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the transitions could be a bit smoother. Something you missed were the tavern-like areas in Mirage Saloon. In the final game they have ice cream, whereas in earlier footage they had more alcoholic looking drinks (and less detail overall really). Really neat video regardless. I wonder if Sonic Mania Plus will add in any of this stuff?

No Scrap Brain is actually supposed to be in Sonic Mania I think it was the Metallic Madness So Mystic Cave might have returned because hidden palace used 2 be of Sonic 2(2013) not Sonic &Knuckles
Sorry! It's a little problem with the editing software I use. I use Vegas Pro 14 (I would use After Effects but I can't stand not being able to preview in realtime) which tries to upscale things with bilinear filtering if they have a low resolution, and you can't turn it off! With most sprites from the game I had to upscale them in Paint.NET by about 1000x, but I couldn't do it with animated GIFs so I just had to deal with it. The opening sprites for Sonic weren't a GIF but I didn't have time to upscale _so many_ images and even upscaling the other logo elements caused the preview framerate to tank, so I had to do those after finishing the video. Hope this explanation helped clear things up!
Dunky was removed from. All versions. The time attack version for the switch version sadly doesent work anymore and were never fixed...likely Sega still has a slight problem with Nintendo all these years later.

I think that SEGA didn't wanted to Sonic Mania have the Hyper Emeralds due to them being "un-canon"

When i got debug mode (on Xbox) i only had the basic monitors and enimies instead of the super,elemental shield etc.
The unused grow and shrink are from knuckles' Chaotix!
Ahh scrap brain it's likely never gonna happen but some dlc stages would be nice and the flying battery boss looked interesting
