Sonic Mania Lost Bits! Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused and unseen things in various games! In this video we explore Sonic Mania and find various cut sounds, animations and sprites! By using the Debug mode in Sonic Mania, we can also explore some new things! Sonic Mania is awesome and has A LOT of cut content! Sorry if my voice sounds a bit weird, had to record this while my throat wasn't in peak condition. "Time to Escape" was likely made for when you get all the rings in a Blue Spheres stage, which would be alerting you to get out since you have a perfect.

Unlike TAS Mario, TAS Sonic does not need to accelerate for 12 hours to travel to parallel universes, he just needs to alter his quantum state just right with a slope or interactive object, going into noclip mode by doing so.

Egg Reverie Pinch Mode was probably going to be used during the Egg Reverie boss when you had less than 10 rings, similar to what happens in the Doomsday Zone. It was most likely removed because the boss can actually hit you for ring damage, so there's the possibility of players staying in Pinch Mode for quite a long time.
That's enough unused content to make a sequel in its own right.

Redz The Ultra-Kard They could change Hyper Sonic to look like Super Sonic, but with afterimages like they did with Hyper Knuckles and keep his double jump (without a screen flash) and inability to drown without the Aqua Shield.
His colors could change without flashing (something more constant and fluid) and they could just remove the screen flash like said before
The Great Majora They already have Super Sonic changing from gold to white, so I don't see why they couldn't make Hyper change from white to all the other olors he has.
The blue spheres level shown at 17:05 is the one that has 780 blue spheres. The blue spheres layout is a 32*32 grid. The outer two rows and columns are red spheres whereas the rest of the map is blue spheres. 28*28 = 784.
The centre four spaces are excluded. this would make the level one of the easiest blue spheres level as you would only need to collect the 12 blue spheres surrounding the empty space. All of the other blue spheres would automatically convert into rings.
The level was likely scrapped because it is impossible to complete the level with a perfect and because the level was used for testing purposes.

About the love tester thing. Someone made a video on that. What actually happens is depending on the character you choose the outcome will give you a certain amount of points for it.
*If the character has a strong relationship with the outcome* = 400 Pts

So, here’s my theory about what ‘egg reverie pinch mode’ was meant to be.
I think egg reverie pinch mode was meant to play whenever super sonic had ONLY 10 rings when fighting the phantom king and eggman just like how in sonic 3 (AnD kNuCklE) when your in the doomsday zone, if you have 10 rings left the doomsday zone theme will start to speed up.
Or mabye it's when Egg Reverie is close to being defeated.
"Pinch" was used in sonic advance to signify when the boss was at its last couple hits, as well as in rush i believe. it's probably a callback to those and serves the same function
Maybe the Super Emeralds will make an appearence when you you "lock on" to the 2018 Sonic game. ;)

Wait, what if Forces will be able to lock on to Mania, allowing for the creation of Sonic Forces Mania? And then by doing so, you can play through Mania and get the good ending, smoothly transitioning into Forces, and if you complete the Forces half, or do whatever would've gotten you the Chaos Emeralds in it, you get the Super Emeralds instead, allowing access to Hyper Sonic in both Mania and Forces.

Gaming Gallinule I wish they at least put Super forms for Sonic, another Sonic game I'm thinking of also did not have Super forms... Would be nice if they brought back the Avatar (the character you create yourself) in a future game, as I believe the ending after the credits hints of something unfinished for the Avatar to do.

The odds are at first they were going to keep knuckles super form as hyper knuckles.
Hibub Games I doubt it. Knuckles had a Super and Hyper Form in 3&K. However, Tails was only able to turn Super with the Super Emeralds in 3&K. Thankfully in Mania, Tails can now go Super with the Chaos Emeralds with the only difference being that he doesn't have the Gold Flickies. Fun Fact: The Super Tails in Mania actually appeared before in the iOS Versions of Sonic 1 and 2 if you used played as Tails, used Debug Mode, and hit an S Monitor!

Man, seeing all this, especially all the "hyper" stuff, I'm hoping fan support will lead them to release a "lock on technology" DLC. They could do so much. From a simple "Sonic & Tails & Knuckles" mode with Heroes style character switching, to maybe even putting in a new character or two, like a classic CD style Amy, but with Advance style gameplay. I wouldn't mind even seeing Shadow in Mania style, with a Chaos Control gimmick tied to the X button. While Studiopolis seems to fill in the gap for that zone based on Chemical Plant's cityscape, Press Garden seems to basically be Wood Zone but better, and Mirage Saloon is Dust Hill+, I still think there are a couple of rumored and unused zone concepts that could be put together to make one more new zone, maybe another three act zone even.

Maybe the "Time to Escape" was meant after you beat the act 2 boss on Titanic Monarch. Probably having a separate mine zone where you have a time limit to get out before it's too late.
Unlike in the final where either Tails, Sonic, or Knuckles, is there to get you out after the boss explodes.
Most likely, this was the case, just my theory onto this.

x Hasan I know Forces Sonic is actually defeated by Eggman's new team member, and is assumed dead. Of course Sonic is alive. In cutscene death, only Mephiles the Dark is allowed to kill Sonic in a cutscene, and that was in Sonic 06, that was rushed, so that's why it's bad. Sonic 06 also never happened, so I dunno why I'm saying all this.

Coming back to this, the "Act 3" title card could've also meant that there would've been different zones entirely. A good example of a zone that has 3 acts is Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2. With the act 3 title card being scrapped, many other zones could've been scrapped alongside it.
From what I remember, Scrap Brain also had 3 acts in the original Sonic game. Could be wrong on that one.

The love tester was used for points when matched with the right character, like tails with sonic and the capsule like boss is eggjanken, a Alex Kidd like boss.
The ink and machine were color changers for the characters form a choice of pink,gold,cyan with the machine cleaning the ink color off per machine.

"Pinch mode" is after the boss is defeated and it's not actually over. You play a harder mode of that boss... so maybe there would've been a hard mode.

the Y-Axis Loop is a gameplay mechanic that was used famously in Labyrinth Zone 2 and 3, Scrap Brain 2, Metropolis Zone 1-3, and Ice Cap 1. There's one section of level that actually uses this to force a pseudo-puzzle area, where if you take the wrong path, you have to go through the area again. The simple solution to this "puzzle" is to just hold down. You'll loop through this area once, and the second time you'll skate along the top of the rotating silver drum, which is where the path split is. Since this is abnormal behavior for these silver drums, this was likely added as an anti-frustration feature.
Those emerald-in-the-sphere-stage and super emerald/hyper/etc. graphics might not have anything to do with a planned hyper sonic mode, since a bunch of Sonic 3 stuff can be found in Sonic Mania's files. It could all just be random leftovers from that. Either placeholder sprites during development or a basis for updating those sprites to the Mania style (e.g the blue spheres themselves) just like the leftover Sonic 1 and 2 sprites.

its worth noting "pinch" is the title of songs in the sonic advance series to indicate the boss only has two or so more hits left until beaten, very likely the same thing with egg reverie's pinch track

In lava reef act 1, the lava pit at the start is where the submarine lands in the cutscene when you enter the zone. Using debug mode skips these cutscenes, so I get why you didn’t know it existed.
Another thing I know is that there’s a part at the end of press garden act 1 that uses this weird loop thing, and is why I spent 4 minutes in that one area the first time I played that level.

That lava pool is part of the transition from Oil Ocean. It's where the "Submarine" crashes when it arrives at lava reef. It isn't unused.
I'm pretty sure it was added around the Sonic Mania Plus update and this video was from way earlier so yeah...

Dr. Polaris Easiest Blue Sphere stage ever. Just trace on the edges by walking, then all the remaining Blue Spheres are gone. I think they made that Blue Sphere Stage as a test subject for that spheres turning into Rings mechanic, and forgot to remove it.
I wish they added a feature where if you activate sonic CD ability for sonic, if you wait 3 minutes he jumps off. It would be a cool addition in my opinion
The reason why Flying Fortress is invisible when skipping the transition objects is because it actually has too sets of sprites, one for inside, one for outside, this is because the inside has new ground tile textures that need to be loaded via transitions and if you dont touch the transitions they cant load their textures and will obviously become texture less, to explain how the backgrounds still show is because that file is loaded regardless of transitions.
