We drove the Buick Encore GX which has the same engine and it was perfectly ample for city driving, highway merging and scooting around the neighborhood.
It has enough power for its intended market. No one interested in it will be drag racing it or pulling a 40 foot airstream with it. (BTW: What is "Luxury Power" anyway?)
3 Cylinder Turbo from a questionable quality GM subdivision is what you are buying. Still baffles me they can build, ship to LA and then all across the country while still making a profit. And don't tell me it's cheap labor as the reason. All this thing is, is a SMALL Quasi "SUV" mated to a SEDAN CHASSIS.
It doesn't have fog lights, what you referred to as fog lights, and actually the headlights. You should read the material Buick gave you when you arrived there .. 🤣.
I actually agree and not im normally a Buick fan but this looks good and its rare in this day and age when I say something is rightly priced because almost everything is overpriced these days
It's like a sedan and a coupe had a baby. It's classed as an SUV but it's more like a car and I absolutely love that. So, I'm wondering if the base model wasn't at this event. For those of us with even tighter wallets it would've been nice to get a look. 😉
The new design is beautiful and due to that, we hope Buick will add more power and AWD. Though, we drove the Encore GX, which has the same engine, all over Detroit and the power is fine for managing traffic, highways and more. It's just not a performance car.
@@AGirlsGuide2Cars good to know! Hopefully it will be the same for the Envista since it will be bigger and heavier. It has a sporty design to it and hopefully they will add an additional engine option to give it the oomph to match the design. Best of luck to Buick though. They are in a niche of their own and feel this new design language will keep them going for years to come.
No rear console with cup holders on the Preferred and ST trims but are standard (or optional) on the Avenir trim but then again, these are pre-production models.
I'm not so much concerned with the horsepower, but a luxury car should be a 6, 8 or 12. No turbos allowed. Those are for sports cars. Some of the late 80s V6 New Yorkers, which were gorgeous cars, got around 150 hp, which is fine, because in a luxury car, you want to cruise in comfort. I don't know why every car has to be a sports or sporty car. Aren't there enough of them? This is one of the last remaining car brands that prioritizes comfort over handling, and that's frustrating to me. I have chronic pain and I'd like to drive too. I just had to sell an E63S that I built to spec because the "comfort seats" were not, even in "comfort" mode. I thought I was getting a luxury car with a 600 hp engine. Not so much.
Then I guess you won't be buying 90% of products, including a cell phone, because it's all made in China. When Americans trash China for something, I laugh as a Canadian. It's not like America is known for quality anything. Especially in the last 20 years. It's made by an American company with American parts in a state of the art facility. Outsourcing is a problem, but blaming China for that is ludicrous. I have no sympathy for Americans whatsoever. You did this to yourselves. Every time I consider buying a Buick because it's the last true luxury car left on the planet that doesn't have a super stiff suspension, I remember that I'm shopping for a car from an American brand and America itself isn't known for quality. When I think of America, having been there, I think of McDonalds, pink slime, Walmart and basically cheap, low quality products. I grew up with Chinese people. They only buy top quality products. Buicks are made in China because that's the market that is most accepting of their cars. I'd listen to them before I'd listen to people who probably could barely find China on an unmarked map. Now back to my igloo.
@@christhornycroft3686 well thankfully , Chris, it’s made in S. Korea, and gee whiz , Chris, when I think of America, I think of its quality and large military which has played more than a small part in protecting Canada , including your igloo, for the past 75 + years
@@christhornycroft3686 I found the butthurt Canuck. Not our fault that no one cares about Canada. Most of the world views Canada as the mentally-challenged relative that America keeps hidden in the attic.
If this suv doesn’t offer ventilated seats, it’s a hard pass for me. Buick car designers clearly have never lived through a Texas summer.
Why would you make a 1.2 liter engine ? Why ?do not fall for this crap ladies the turbo charged engine is very expensive to replace.

The big lights at the top are DRLs, the headlights are at the bottom. They are not fog lights.

Buick might as well power the thing with a hamster wheel.
Worth the money, Rightly priced

YES - they used to make a 3 cylinder Wartburg, that was better than 2 cylinder Trabant ...👍👍👍

@@AGirlsGuide2Cars Awesome! Thank you!!
I love Buicks, this new styling effort, and the change of the badge. But the engine doesn’t fit the redesign. Way too underpowered.

What month is it going to be released? I currently have a Buick Encore and cant wait to make the switch
July! But you can sign up now to ensure you get the version you want.
Too bad the American version doesn't get rear seat heating and cooling vents and a fold down center armrest like the Asian version.
I love the car. Thank you for your first look.
I love Mazda, Buick, Honda
A woman's view on cars! Definitely subscribed, she has an eye for detail ❤
I want one I will get it❤#st
This car has some really smart marketing behind it.
First they aleady have people calling a "luxury" vehicle.
Second they are pitching it to women.
You're right that Buick has designed this for women-- the interior alone speaks strongly to women.
Cute is definitely the right word to describe this car ☺️! Will you be making a video on the new encore as well?
Yes we will! It's being edited now (as it so happens). Keep your notifications on!

1.2L 3cyl engine? This will not get you on the highway on ramp safely.
We drove the Encore GX, which has the same engine, all around Detroit and it was confident and quick getting on the highway. Turbo is the magic!
🙌😝🤣🥰
Have you driven one?

Nice car
It's very chinese car and it's amazing 👏 😍
Made in S Korea.
What a junk...I'm 64 and say it's an old man's car. By the time you're done negotiating it's 50 grand!
Just bought the Envista Avenir fully equirped for 31,500
total junk get a toyota, atleast when you sell it ill be worth your money.
You mean Toyota, the recall king (3.6 million)?
It's a Buick. No thanks. I have 340,000 on one of my toyotas. Do you think you would get that out of a buick?
Who cares? An average car is expected to last 200k+ miles / 14 years or more. Average ownership is 8.4 years.
2015 Buick lacrosse has 279,000 on the clock, original engine and trans
Beautiful and good price. Will it be available with an electric drivetrain option? - Zoomer
Most likely, and hopefully soon!
Is it made in South Korea or China?
China is a firm No Way for me.
