Not to mention Ice/Fire. That one needs a proper showing too one day... Temporary forms or mythicals having unique type combinations always pissed me off because I knew that I'll lose them eventually.
a proper dragon/fairy typing would be amazing! There are actually a few ways they could do it. There's the Jabberwocky, a kind of fae dragon, there's this one dragon story (from france, I think) about a river dragon that kidnaps a woman so she could feed its child milk, there is the typical fantasy fairy dragon with butterfly wings, etc. Heck, they could change it up and let you get a dragon mon "early", as in you capture a bug type caterpillar, it evolves into a steel/bug cocoon, and then, after a bunch of leveling, you get a dragon/fairy butterfly dragon (how I'd personally like to see it done)
Fire/Ice has got to be the rarest type combo that actually exists in the game. It’s not only just on one regional form (Galarian Darmanitan), but it’s on an in-battle form of that regional form that requires a hard-to-obtain hidden ability to activate (Galarian-Zen-Darmanitan). I’d love to see another Fire/Water type Pokémon. The fact that it’s been used on only one Pokémon, a mythical Pokémon in fact, makes me hope that we’ll eventually get another Fire/Water Pokémon that’s not exclusive to a mythical Pokémon. Another Water/Grass type would be cool as well I’m also hoping gen 9 will finally introduce a Grass/Fire type
Any type combo held by a mythical should not be a thing, to be honest. Hopefully we'll see some of the type combos in this or future generations so that the mythicals won't be the only options to those elusive type combos.
@@luisvelez1952 Pokémon with very specific types that directly determine the appearance and body of a Pokémon like Bug or Flying is hard to overwrite completely. Ninetails went from a Fire Pokémon to an Ice-Fairy Pokémon.
The terastal sudowoodo from the one trailer got me thinking about a future evolution for sudowoodo where it actually begins growing proper leaves and gains the grass type
Excellent video, Emperor Cubone! This is probably obvious but I think we really need another Grass/Water combo. One of the reasons the Lotad line became decent Pokemon to use was because of its unique typing. I mean, a Grass type having an Ice Beam (since most Water Pokemon can use an Ice type move) but without the crippling weakness of said typing (Abomasnow….) is pretty sick and takes care of its Flying weakness while eliminating its Fire weakness. With the proper stats and abilities, I can see a Pokémon with this combo being super viable.
Oh I completely support another Grass/Water type, it just wasn't as crucial to get as Fire and Water with the one, super rare Pokemon. But yes, let's get more than just Lotad, because as I said, we need Grass types to take out Fire Pokemon...
My pitch for a Steel/Dark type is a regional variant. For Porygon he would start off as a pure Steel type and have his dex say, the region used a metal frame to reinforce its body when not in cyberspace. Then he gets the Dark Type when he evolves as the Upgrade and Dubious Disk were not compatible with the new OS in Porygon required for the metal frame and corrupted its data, giving it the Dark Typing.
I always consider Solrock and Lunatone to be related species (like Tauros and Miltank, Volbeat and Illumsie), so Rock/Psychic counts as a signature type combination shared by two closely related Pokémon. But it would be nice to see Rock/Psychic on other Pokémon. I think you addressed it in your video, when you said some Pokémon seem to exist only because of their one-off type combination: it makes the type combination itself feel gimmicky, and doesn't really show off the potential of that type combination.
Well the comparisons you listed are actually capable of breeding together, but yes I think any reasonable person puts the Meteorite Pokemon together, I was just going by their separate Dex numbers. Hopefully we'll see another Rock/Psychic someday, although losing Levitate would be hard...
@@emperorcubone While Tauros and Miltank can breed, it's only due to a shared egg group. The pairing will still only result in a Miltank every time despite how little sense it makes while we still don't have a preevolution cow calf tying them together. At least Volbeat and Illumise and the Nidos are officially recognized as gender distaffs of the same species that can breed to get one or the other (save for that Nidoqueen breeding bug that was strangely carried over to future generations).
The Psychic Type could make for interesting designs. I've always been interested in seeing more Psychic / Poison and Psychic / Electric Pokémon other than Regional Forms.
I'm kind of surprised Fire/Ice isn't mentioned in the video. As you said, opposite types are always interesting, and it's only on the Zen form of Galarian Darmanitan. I mean, seriously? At that point it may as well not exist.

@@emperorcubone If Game would finally spread type combination more in their army of lame mono types we would have gotten so many more type combinations by now. I think it's wild that Poison/Flying and Ghost/Poison haven't been used outside of the Zubat and Gengar lines respectively in over 25 tears barring Crobat's introduction in Gen 2. While uncommon, toxic birds do exist which would make for a unique Poison/Flying-type, and a ghostly snake skin copying Shedinja from a seperate snake Pokemon or plastic bag for some more social commentary could work for another toxic phantom.
In fact, Poison is the only type that still has a unique pair with Flying. Flying is the only type down to one unique pair; everything else, including itself, has at least two now. As for the others: Normal: never paired with Ice, Bug, Rock, or Steel; still unique with Fire, Water, Electric, Poison, and Ghost Fire: never paired with Fairy; still unique with Normal, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Ground (as long as Primal Groudon is out,) and Steel Water: paired with everything; still unique with Normal, Fire, Grass, and Steel Grass: paired with everything; still unique with Fire, Water, Ice, and Rock Electric: paired with everything; still unique with Normal, Fire, Poison, Psychic, Ghost, and Dark Ice: never paired with Normal or Poison; still unique with Fire, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Bug, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy Fighting: paired with everything; still unique with Ice, Ground, Rock, and Fairy Poison: never paired with Ice; still unique with Normal, Electric, Flying, Psychic, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy Ground: never paired with Fairy; still unique with Fire (as long as Primal Groudon is out,) Ice, Fighting, and Psychic Psychic: paired with everything; still unique with Electric, Poison, Ground, Rock (if Lunatone and Solrock can count collectively,) and Dragon (if the eon duo can count collectively and as long as Ultra Necrozma is out) Bug: never paired with Normal or Dragon; still unique with Ice, Ghost, Dark, and Fairy Rock: never paired with Normal or Ghost; still unique with Grass, Fighting, Psychic (if Lunatone and Solrock can count collectively,) Dragon, Dark, and Fairy (if Carbink and Diancie can count collectively) Ghost: never paired with Rock; still unique with Normal, Electric, Ice, Poison, and Bug Dragon: never paired with Bug; still unique with Psychic (if the eon duo can count collectively and as long as Ultra Necrozma is out,) Rock, and Fairy (technically Dragon-Fairy is absent until we get a replacement for Stupid Altaria [I always hated that mechanic and dubbed it Stupid Evolution to mock it]) Dark: paired with everything; still unique with Electric, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy Steel: never paired with Normal; still unique with Fire, Water, Ice, Poison, and Dark Fairy: never paired with Fire and Ground; still unique with Ice, Fighting, Poison, Bug, Rock (if Carbink and Diancie can count collectively,) Dragon (technically Dragon-Fairy is absent until we get a replacement for Stupid Altaria,) and Dark I wonder whether GAME FREAK will celebrate when every type combination exists.
I actually thought of a Rock/Dragon pseudo-legendary before. It’s based on the armadillo girdled lizard (an animal that bites onto its tail to deter predators with its spikes), only this line bites on its tail to roll around. Stat-wise, it would be similar to Tyranitar, except sacrifice special attack and a bit of HP for more speed.

I'm sad that only Hoopa and Lunala are Ghost and Psychic types. Even if it's a legendary exclusive type combo, I'd love to see it again. I'd also love more Bug and Ground type Pokémon. Poison and Rock also seems like a rare pairing, Grass and Ice too it seems.
Water/Steel can come up together for a concept pokemon based on "Mineral water". I designed something like this when I was a kid. A metal ball fish that evolved into something that looks like a killer whale made out of metal.
Two type combinations I’d like to see done again are Normal/Ghost and Dragon/Fairy. Normal/Ghost because it would be the best possible typing for an opossum Pokemon due to their impressive talent of pretending to be dead. Dragon/Fairy because the only Pokemon to have that typing is Mega Altaria and there hasn’t been any sign of Mega Evolution returning to the mainline games yet.

The top three for me in order is: 1) ice / fire cause that's pretty sweet 2) Ice / Fighting. idk how well the type would work nor do I care. It's just a type I'd love to see one day done a bit better anyway. 3) Fire / Water as stated in your video :3
2) Perfect candidate could be Beartic. For me every grown bear Pokémon should be part Fighting type. Ursaring: Normal-Fighting Beartic: Ice-Fighting Bewear: Fighting-Fairy Ursaluna: Ground-Fighting For example! :-) 3) How about a fish or sea creature that id also an underwater volcano or has one in its back. Now that Scarlet/Violet has been out for a while, I'm glad we saw some of these as new Pokémon - with Iron Moth being Poison/Fire, & Sandyshocks being Electric/Ground (although sadly they are both Paradox Pokémon, and not "regular" Pokémon).
I’m starting to notice Alola to brought a lot of types Poison / Fire - Salazzle Fairy / Ice - Alolan Vulpix Ice / Fighting In the past they are forgotten or newly added
Same with Galar. Ice/Fire - Zen Mode Galarian Darmanitan Poison/Fairy - Galarian Wheezing Electric/Dark - Morpeko Ice/Electric - Arctozolt Among others.

Speaking of the Sinnoh starters, Grass/Ground is currently exclusively to Torterra. Torterra is really cool but honestly I feel like the type could be nice to see again even if defensively it isn't the best. Electric/Ghost is another I'd like to see again. Rotom keeps this typing to itself, and I love Rotom, but electrical poltergeists in general are a common enough media trope that I think just one more can't hurt. Though somewhat on the topic of Ghost-types, the lines of Gastly and Zubat are the only remaining Gen 1 lines to not have their type been reused. A bit surprised on Poison/Flying considering some birds are actually quite toxic to eat and such.
its shocking not seeing the fire/ice and dragon/ fairy combination here... We only have the galarian darmanitan on its zen mode and mega altaria so i would definetely say these two type combos need a spotlight imo
I do agree; temporary form changes do not represent the type pairings in full, that's why to me Grass/Electric wasn't really on the table until Hisuian Voltorb. However the types you've listed can be difficult to come with designs, so I could understand not showing up again just yet, even though we do need them.
I was thinking, ice ground. The only Pokémon that can wield both of those types are the Swinub line, though Mamoswine wields both types effectively, as one of if not the strongest ice type and certainly one of the better ground types too!

Yeah. And really alolan Sandslash is really a far steel type stretch in my opinion. He is like Lucario in this aspect the only even metal looking things are his claws.
I drew up a Poison/Fire Koffing and Weezing variant. Weezing in this case also evolves into a 3 head version called Chauking ("chaud" French for hot, and "choking", while implying its the "king" of the line). Blast Chamber is a new ability to the line that makes self-destruct moves reduce it to 1 HP instead once per battle. Liftoff is a Fire type Magnet Rise essentially. Like you said in your suggestion, Koffing fled to volcanic regions for the toxic gases, with the rise of alternative energy solutions becoming more popular, and pollution decreasing

Grass and Ground I love Torterra but there's no reason for it to represent this combo alone. We're talking about plants and soil. This is a pair in real life and even in the Pokémon world that is directly related. In some other fantasy media they are even included in the same Earth or Nature fields.
Drampa could have been a good Dragon-Ice Pokémon. It has a very fitting color palette for the Ice type and it's only found in Mount Lanakila in Gen. 7!

@@emperorcubone I came up with a regional Nosepass and Nosepass evo based on space rocks, and don't worry, the evo is WAY cooler than Probopass
I'd like to see another Fairy/Dragon, would be an amazing psuedo legendary. Also another strong ghost/steel would be great.

I want Bug/Ground on an actually good Pokémon, not just Nincada and Wormadam-Pizza slice form
Too true; I made up a Bug/Ground Egyptian scarab Pokemon, but we'll just have to wait...
Trapinch? But I agree, we need a stronger Pokémon as Ground/Bug

I drew a Bug/Ground legendary. It was like a giant Skulltula from Zelda. But something like an earth scorpion would be cool too.

If Game would finally spread type combination more in their army of lame mono types we would have gotten so many more type combinations by now.
About after Gen. 6 some older Pokémon got new or alternate type combinations outside of regional variants.
For example Charizard and Garados finally got its Dragon type even in its base form (they gave Mega Charizard X the Dragon type anyway!) or give other mono types a secondary type like Marowak Fighting and Primeape Dark because it's angry all the time.
Give Scyther Dragon instead of Flying...
I’m a bit of a Hex Maniac myself and sad there are not that many types of Ghost with unique typing.
I really love Nebby and Mismagius but also love Decidueye, Frosslass, Huisian Zoroark and Giritina
Don't forget Golurk! It's a great one!
remember when Ghost/Fire, Ground/Ghost, and Grass/Ghost were rare and (at the time) name typings?
now they're everywhere in the recent gens, at least in some form
Honestly I would love to see another Ghost Fighting type since Marshadow was a Mythical Pokémon and I would love to see a normal Pokémon with that typing
I'd like to see Pouson/Fighting be used again.
What I love most about distinct type combinations is the fact that they're often two opposite typings that can manage to coexist together as one.
wasn't it just reused recently in the Hisusian Sneanel line?
@@goGothitaLOL It was, yes. I think he maybe wants more of them or forgot about Sneasler entirely?

I personally think the Ice/Fighting type should be used again because the only one that has it is Crabominable and I know some people like it but a lot don’t really like it including me
I just can't understand why Beartic isn't Ice/Fighting, at least a posible evolution to be in par with the Teddiursa line could fix that.
I agree with this 100%, Crabominable is the worst
I like crabobinable a lot because there are cool things about it, but as far a looks go, it's hard to get used to.
I second this
I think bear Pokémon are perfect for the Fighting type.
How about Ice-Fighting Beartic? :-D
Volcanion's type combination is actually my favourite type combination of all time, we need more Fire X Water type Pokemon.
Omg I recommended this topic to you forever ago, I’m not sure if you remember. Thank you for doing this!
It's a good idea at any time, I just needed to find the right window to use it!
Dragon/Fairy. It's only representative is Mega Altaria, which doesn't exist anymore. This needs to be fixed yesterday.
100% That'd be a pretty great pseudo legendary one day...
I would like to see more of the following type combos:
1. Fairy, Dragon.
2. Ice, Steel.
3. Dragon, Psychic.
4. Grass, Fairy.
5. Electric, grass.

I didn't realized until now just how many Pokemon were the only one to have certain dual type combinations until I saw this video

As for the others:
Normal: never paired with Ice, Bug, Rock, or Steel; still unique with Fire, Water, Electric, Poison, and Ghost
Fire: never paired with Fairy; still unique with Normal, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Ground (as long as Primal Groudon is out,) and Steel
Water: paired with everything; still unique with Normal, Fire, Grass, and Steel
Grass: paired with everything; still unique with Fire, Water, Ice, and Rock
Electric: paired with everything; still unique with Normal, Fire, Poison, Psychic, Ghost, and Dark
Ice: never paired with Normal or Poison; still unique with Fire, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Bug, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy
Fighting: paired with everything; still unique with Ice, Ground, Rock, and Fairy
Poison: never paired with Ice; still unique with Normal, Electric, Flying, Psychic, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy
Ground: never paired with Fairy; still unique with Fire (as long as Primal Groudon is out,) Ice, Fighting, and Psychic
Psychic: paired with everything; still unique with Electric, Poison, Ground, Rock (if Lunatone and Solrock can count collectively,) and Dragon (if the eon duo can count collectively and as long as Ultra Necrozma is out)
Bug: never paired with Normal or Dragon; still unique with Ice, Ghost, Dark, and Fairy
Rock: never paired with Normal or Ghost; still unique with Grass, Fighting, Psychic (if Lunatone and Solrock can count collectively,) Dragon, Dark, and Fairy (if Carbink and Diancie can count collectively)
Ghost: never paired with Rock; still unique with Normal, Electric, Ice, Poison, and Bug
Dragon: never paired with Bug; still unique with Psychic (if the eon duo can count collectively and as long as Ultra Necrozma is out,) Rock, and Fairy (technically Dragon-Fairy is absent until we get a replacement for Stupid Altaria [I always hated that mechanic and dubbed it Stupid Evolution to mock it])
Dark: paired with everything; still unique with Electric, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy
Steel: never paired with Normal; still unique with Fire, Water, Ice, Poison, and Dark
Fairy: never paired with Fire and Ground; still unique with Ice, Fighting, Poison, Bug, Rock (if Carbink and Diancie can count collectively,) Dragon (technically Dragon-Fairy is absent until we get a replacement for Stupid Altaria,) and Dark
I wonder whether GAME FREAK will celebrate when every type combination exists.
I'd like to see that, it sounds cool!
Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark have one of the most amazing unique type combos out there.

One of my favorite aesthetics is the lines on stone that glow/ancient civilization thing. I love Groudon and Kroger, but I’d really love a 3 stage rock psychic; maybe in something sporty like a tuna.

I've wanted another Fire/Electric type for such a long time now. The only type I want more is a Fire/Fairy type
I would always lean towards a new type pairing over an existing one, but I do think Fire/Electric deserves far more than a single Rotom form...
Dragon/Fairy and Fire/Water

I'm sad that only Hoopa and Lunala are Ghost and Psychic types. Even if it's a legendary exclusive type combo, I'd love to see it again. I'd also love more Bug and Ground type Pokémon. Poison and Rock also seems like a rare pairing, Grass and Ice too it seems.
I’m still upset Heliolisk isn’t electric/ground. It just makes way too much sense!
While I do appreciate them making Electric and Normal, they sure wasted a great design!

With Malamar being the only one of this combination to be catchable, the Dark/Psychic combo could use more members (maybe give Hypno a type reassignment). poison fire but on a more viable mon with better stats and ability same with ice fighting

The top three for me in order is:
1) ice / fire cause that's pretty sweet
2) Ice / Fighting. idk how well the type would work nor do I care. It's just a type I'd love to see one day done a bit better anyway.
3) Fire / Water as stated in your video :3
2) Perfect candidate could be Beartic.
For me every grown bear Pokémon should be part Fighting type.
Ursaring: Normal-Fighting
Beartic: Ice-Fighting
Bewear: Fighting-Fairy
Ursaluna: Ground-Fighting
For example! :-)
3) How about a fish or sea creature that id also an underwater volcano or has one in its back. Could be one of the more uglier Pokémon but it could be very strong.

Poison-ice
Poison-steel
Bug-dragon
Bug-dark
Ground-fairy
Ghost-rock

Now that Scarlet/Violet has been out for a while, I'm glad we saw some of these as new Pokémon - with Iron Moth being Poison/Fire, & Sandyshocks being Electric/Ground (although sadly they are both Paradox Pokémon, and not "regular" Pokémon).
Yeah, some of these before the end of the game would be nice!
I’m starting to notice Alola to brought a lot of types
Poison / Fire - Salazzle
Fairy / Ice - Alolan Vulpix
Ice / Fighting
In the past they are forgotten or newly added
Same with Galar.
Ice/Fire - Zen Mode Galarian Darmanitan
Poison/Fairy - Galarian Wheezing
Electric/Dark - Morpeko
Ice/Electric - Arctozolt
Among others.
I feel like Alolan forms were specifically designed to bring in new combinations, like Electric/Rock, Ice/Steel, Normal/Dark, or even Alolan Raichu gaining the Psychic type...

@@emperorcubone right if they gave Yanmega that typing that would a a busted buff plus it’s Speed boost ability
I love Torterra, but yes, Grass and Ground could have many cool designs behind it!
its shocking not seeing the fire/ice and dragon/ fairy combination here...

I love Torterra but there's no reason for it to represent this combo alone. We're talking about plants and soil. This is a pair in real life and even in the Pokémon world that is directly related. In some other fantasy media they are even included in the same Earth or Nature fields.
We need a tumbleweed Pokemon!
Seening another Ice/Dragon type would be nice since Kyurem is the only one as if now.
True, typings only on Legends makes it very difficult to use commonly...
