I built several of them myself, health problems, heart attack, lung cancer, muscle and bone condition put a stop to my entire building process. I miss it so much. The L-39 will always hold a special place in my memory, best training jet aircraft ever built! Be careful, have fun, live for today because tomorrow is not promised! If I'm lucky in my next life, I may be doing it again.

I’ve seen the L-39 many times but had no idea it was a kit build. It’s the BD-5J’s much bigger brother. Beautiful!
This pilot is an all star, that's for sure. Impeccable performance out of the Viper driver. This jet is such a beauty.
His callsign is V+12, and he's a pro for sure.
What a soft spoken man. That is probably some of the most gentle, calm, & collected radio calls I've ever heard!

Bet you didn’t notice how he ducked out behind the hanger and dropped to his knees praying Matt and crew put all the screws/bolts back in place. Seriously, this about trust, trust in the airframe and everyone who had touched it.

Oh my what can it be Matt?
By far my favorite aviation channel and there are tons. It’s mind boggling that you purchased a fighter jet, had it shipped from Europe, assembled it in a tiny hanger, found a packer for the chutes, picked the test pilot up in Florida, and airborne in such a short period of time. You are turning dreams into reality and I commend you Matt and the others involved in this project.
I repeat, SERIOUS MONEY.
@Bret Breckinridge: Not by fighter jet standards. I can't believe how cheap those L39's are.
Keep in mind the L-39 is not a fighter it's a trainer. Very cool regardless.
Whoever carefully disassembled and prepared it for shipping in Estonia is a rockstar.
@@nighthawk0077 This has become a multi-million dollar industry in several former soviet block counties. This is due to the market demand for former military jets in the US.
Interesting that there are three privately owned Mig-29s in the US.

As a young boy, I dreamed of being a Fighter Pilot. Bad eye sight kept me from doing it. You Guys are living it. Beautiful plane. God speed!!

It’s even better for them as they don’t risk being shot down by a ground to air missile
The best part for me is to test pilot is left-handed. My personal experience is learning to fly right handed well as an acutely left-handed person was one of the most challenging things I've ever had to do.

Maybe he is ambidextrous like me? Although I am not a pilot like him.
I noticed that, too, as I have two left handed brothers.

i'm right handed and i drive cars using my right hand only
but when i'm driving a boat it's left hand on the wheel and right on the throttle
Captains fly with their left hand. Instructors, co-pilots and stick-pilots fly with their right hand. No problem for an accomplished pilot.

It's a military jet trainer. High performance, a fun machine with a nice envelope, but not what I'd call a fighter.
I'll bet it was really rewarding to see someone with so much passion for your airplane flying it the first time. Congrats to all.
This is the absolute best cockpit video editing I've ever seen, thank you for that. I've never really seen the fast multi view switching like that but everyone should do it on cockpit videos

Excellent film. The editing of the 360- camera footage in the cockpit was especially good - constantly changing focus with the test pilot!
Are you able to separate the intercom and radio feeds to the audio? I was trying to listen to your conversation with Charlie but there was constant chatter on the radio.

What a great pilot for taking the jet out for the checkout of the L 39. A true professional with clear safety parameters in mind to operate such a high-performance aircraft. Seems like a great job, if you are military-trained with a flying high-performance jet background to do such a test job.

Really cool. Kind of strange there wasn't a little more emotion documented in the first flight. I screamed like a little girl watching an experienced pilot take off my homebuilt plane on it's first flight. Wifey screamed like a little boy, too. Great video! Well edited, great filming, and slick. Really stands out above a lot of content out here. Subscribed...
Also, it's a freakin jet! Can't imagine the thrill of strapping that on! Just stupid cool what you have done. Can't imagine all the work involved to get this beauty to this point.

A bit bittersweet to see how easy is to buy, assemble and fly this nice Czech(oslowakian) jet trainer as L-39 Albatros is. Especially, when you live 30 miles eastern from LKVO (Vodochody, the production factory). Here in CZ in overregulated EASA it is almost impossible. Know what i'm talking about, I own plane by myself (L-40 MetaSokol)
