    This is the solo only. For a lesson on the introduction, see • Guitar Lesson: Life's ...
    "Life's Been Good" is a 1978 song by Joe Walsh, which first appeared on the soundtrack to the film FM. The original eight-minute version was released on Walsh's album But Seriously, Folks..., and an edited 4½ minute single version peaked at #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100, remaining his biggest solo hit.
    In the song, Walsh satirically reflects on the antics of the era's rock stars, such as the nod to Keith Moon and others: "I live in hotels/Tear out the walls."
    The 1979 Rolling Stone Record Guide called it "riotous", and "(maybe) the most important statement on rock stardom anyone has made in the late Seventies."
    Made after Walsh had joined the Eagles, "Life's Been Good" was incorporated into that group's concert repertoire, appearing in shows at the time as well as reunion tours. It remains a staple of classic rock radio playlists. A live version of the song with the Eagles appears on the 1980 album Eagles Live, where some of the lyrics are changed.

    Well we'll, I can play that! Thanks man. Slow and steady. Walsh is clean and simple when you break that particular lead/solo down.

      Yep, JW is not a complicated player. But he sure does pick good notes and play them well!

    Sweet! Very well done! I grew up with Joe's music. First stuff I learned on guitar. Thanks for the tone settings. Tough stuff to get good tone sometimes. Meadows would be a good one to do also. I sure appreciate your lessons. They help me fix a note here and there I may have gotten wrong.

    Mark, I love your stuff and learn from it. Just one thought, a lot of times the recording sound other than when you talk is a bit tinny. I don't know what the answer is but I thought I would mention it.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  6 років тому +2

      Hi Ed. Thanks. Hmm, do you mean primarily the demo? I don't know much about recording and don't spend any time on the mixing. I've asked folks for help, but haven't gotten it yet. I just usually use a Zoom H1. If the video is over a year old, I'm using the mic on my phone. I don't want to invest and have the equipment not work ... or sit in boxes ... or worse, cause me to spend triple the time editing the videos. In any event, thanks for letting me know. I do this completely as a hobby. If I ever "graduate" I know I need to "up my game" with the recording! :)

      Hi Ronnie. It was on GuitarBackingTrack.com, but that site was shut down due to lack of support. You can get a different version here. (Their work is usually pretty reliable.) www.karaoke-version.com/guitar-backing-track/joe-walsh/life-s-been-good.html

      It's a Reverend Buckshot. Great guitar. Very solid and versatile guitar. I've had it for years. Reverend makes base-level professional instruments. They're not cheap, but they are very solid for the money.

    Ahhhhh....The song that Joe wrote mimicking Houses of The Holy from Page......

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 роки тому

      Wow, really? It doesn't sound at all like that song to me. Different cadence, speed, melody. Did he say that in an interview or something? To me this solo sounds like Joe Walsh's style and note choice from back when he was in the James Gang. I mean, sure, major pentatonic scale. But the music seems very different to me.
      Would love to be enlightened here, because I love Houses of the Holy!

      On the studio version there’s a weird part at the end that goes on for minutes, it’s Joe and his mates just going “wah wah wah” like geese or something hahaha
