Eventually it'll happen. If you have your phone long enough, the battery life will just not be what it used to be. Instead of getting a brand new iPhone, why not replace the battery in your iPhone 5S instead? Apple might say that the battery is non-removable, but - enough effort - it'll come out alright. It's not the easiest thing to do but considering you can get a replacement battery for under $25 and do the work yourself in under 20 mins, it'd might just be worth it. And, hey, you get that satisfying feeling of learning a new skill and doing something yourself, right?

Could not agree with you more Dirty Blond. It would have been nice to include probably the most important part. Now that the home button ribbon cable is broken, I'll need to use the Assistive Touch function as a workaround. For those who followed this video, the Assistive Touch feature can be accessed by going to General Settings > Accessibility > Assistive Touch

Some useful information, but you should have shown disconnecting the home button cable. Lucky I watched other videos besides yours.

You should show clearly how the two connectors and their plates, battery and screen, are fastened when assembling....they are tiny and thus tricky. The video cuts these crucial steps at 3.49 and 4.07.

BEWARE!!! If you are following this video for an iPhone 5S, you must open the phone VERY carefully just after prying up and loosening the screen so the Home Button ribbon cable is not broken. You should not lift the screen more than 1.5 inches until AFTER the cable is disconnected. Only then can you open it up to the 90 degree angle as stated in the video

I suspected this battery changeout could be done without disconnecting the 3 plugins. Yours is the only video I found that mentioned that. 😎👍
My TouchID sensor doesn't work at all on my iPhone 5S, and the screen seems to pop up a little (probably because the battery is a little inflated).

u are supposed to unhook the touchid cable before opening it completely, which explains why your fingerprint doesn't work

The battery adhesive is a pain in the ass, I punctured my battery trying to remove it why does a battery replacememt have to be so complicated?
Frog the way he removed the battery was wrong you are supposed to remove the battery by pull on tabs on the bottom
NicVandEmZ The adhesive teared apart while i was pulling the tab so i had to resort to his method
