Thank you so much!!! I ran your video through and through throughout the replacement on my 5S. Excellent video! A word to the wise... don't drop one of the screws. I did it - twice! Recommend you do it on a wide baking tray to catch anything you drop. You saved me about $1000, you're amazing. Your voice sounds like the actor playing Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's husband) on the serial "Victoria". My wife was wondering where the sexy voice was coming from on my laptop.
Fantastic instructional video. Very clear step by step explanation. The narrator's voice is very calming and reassuring. Thank you for helping me to replace the battery on my phone.
First: this is the BEST video (and I watched them all several times). Secondly, I would add the following (in addition to the take your time and lay out screws exactly as removed)... #1: MAGNETIZE your screwdrivers. This really helps to keep the screw on, and if they come off, they still stick to the side of the screwdriver... if you fail, remove, remagnetize and try again. #2: those two metal brackets are really hard to keep in place when reassembling. I found using painters tape to hold them down (while not covering the screw holes worked wonders). That four-hole one at the top is very difficult... I taped down and installed screws in this order: top right toward corner, bottom right, bottom left, top left. I can't imagine trying to keep that plate down without the other screws secured. #3: I would not even try this without a heat gun. I used a professional one and still bent up the old battery. #4: don't have a cup of coffee like me before you do this... the last this you need are the shakes. Patience be with you.
Thank you for this video! It really helped. I watched several videos on changing the battery and also read many comments so I knew where the hard parts would be. This was the best video and I had it running as I did it. It was very well explained and it showed the procedure very well!Opening the case & removing the battery was the hardest. I did try to remove the sticky tape first before the battery but the tape broke and I did it exactly the way you said. Thanks again!
Good video , thanks much ( multumesc :) ), got it done. My two cents for others who attempt to replace the battery : lay out screws exactly as removed. You will be happy you did.
Very good demonstration and explanation. Important information emphasized well. I would have liked more light when disconnecting the three connectors at the speaker and, and also their re-connection. You showed the detail work involved and had good camera work. It is hard to do! Very good, and appreciated. Thank you
Your video is full of great tips. I used the idea about preforming the battery cable before, and most importantly the difference in screw sizes for the screen cable cover. Thank you.
at 5:15 great! thank you for telling us to remove screws in a particular order after it has been done by you and me (using video as a guide). This is a major flaw in video. where does the longer screw goes in and where goes the magnetic one. how do I know which one is magnetic, none of them stick to metal?
If you follow the video it's fine. Most important is to put the screws back in the same holes because they are different lenghts. Thanks for the trust but in general it's much better to watch it first without opening your device to know if you have the tools and time to finish it. Take your time and it will be fine.
I just replaced my iphone 5 battery with a new one. I got one from amazon. Bt BATTERY LIFE app still shows 93% wearable. And phone keeps rebooting itself. What to do?
will a battery replacement make my phone usable without being plugged in? if it isn’t plugged in it’ll die in less than a minute and i really want that fixed
The thin snake like black cable at 9:28. Is it connected to anything ? Because when i opened the iphone i think i damaged it and see how cable goes inside the metal thing ? Mine is lose and not connected to anything. Also when removing the three connectors... i removed the black one as well and i have tried putting it back in place but it doesnt settle into place.... keeps popping up. I still put in place but i m not sure. My phone doesnt turn on at all. I saw another video and they didnt caution about the black cable at 9:28 I think my phone is gone now. Forever.
Open it again, disconnect the flat cable/cables and place them back. Have to be straight and click in place. I'm not sure which one is your camera cable.
Yikes! Did you use a metal tool in the wrong place, bend the battery, or perhaps over heat the back of the phone? I am about to do this fix... 😖. I will attempt a follow-up post.
@@margote3990 DONT BEND THE BATTERY GUYS --> exactly, I bent the battery trying to take it off, it was stuck to the back of the phone and the sticker was impossible to remove. So after trying to remove it safely, I, desperately bent it, the battery broke and though a hole, lithium was spread out over my hand. Luckily it didn't came of to my face/eyes or anything... I'm healed now and the phone Is fixed. Could replace the battery successfully next day
@@falken7610 Thank goodness it all worked out for you. Could have been a horrendous injury indeed! I have a ton of patience, perhaps that will work in my favor...but a little luck won't hurt lol. Will keep you posted.
Adam_c_02 I’ve just ordered some tools and battery from someone in Ireland through eBay. My screen is also bulging out ever so slightly as it scares me, I feel I need to repair it before it gets any worse.
Egon Krenz yes I think you’re right. You have to make sure the screen is flush with the frame. Mine is unglued a bit on the right side. It pops back in if I fiddle with it a bit.
Egon Krenz it just looks like that because he has a glass screen protector on the screen so it is thicker than normal screen ...plus iPhone 5s screen sticks out just a bit from frame...
I replaced successfully the battery and the phone works fine, but the top part of the screen is a bit separated from the case. More than in your video. That’s a common problem and I’m not sure why it happens. I saw a 5s that had the battery replaced by Apple and there was the same problem with the screen
If you did place the screen correctly when installing it, it's because the lcd is separating from the metal frame holding it. It's not a big deal and the lcd glue can fix it. Was thinking to show how to fix that but not sure if it's a big deal. Might do it later.
ive successfully replaced the battery twice, and the new battery holds a charge for 2 hours only. The same problem was with both batteries the company sent. Are old 2016 iphone5s batteries that they have not good anymore? Or does a phone need to be charged for like 10 hours the first time even when it says 100%? Both batteries came completely empty btw.
I did it few times and even with a bad battery it was ok at first. First time, empty the battery and then charge it overnight(long time). Get the battery from another seller.
if you don't have VERY good sight of magnifying glass, don't do it! The screws are far more smaller than they appear in video :) Also, the plugs are not very easy to be put back without the risk of damaging something or simply not put in the correct position. If you have an old phone and want to experiment (as I did), that's fine. Just have in mind, although it's appears very easy fix, due to the size of the hardware you may not be able to complete it easily (it took me 15' minutes just to put back those tiny screws...without losing them in the process. Very nice video though...!
Even if it takes you 1h, it's fine and who needs can use a magnifying glass. The screws are small and the connectors need to be well aligned then they snap in place when you press. To do this most important is to have time for it and not rush it.
The original adhesive is definitely a pain in the ass. Just replaced the battery in my grandmother's phone the other day, and removing it took up most of my time. In fact the adhesive was still super sticky so I ended up just reusing it for the new battery.
Haha no it's there with super detailed close shots. Surprising to watch it now how good the videos used to be on this channel. Please, when watching repair videos in general, don't skip thru the video. I know people skip because it shows in the stats haha. You could skip something important.
@@IONHowTo He didn't watch it to the end! You checked it was working before clipping it back in place and it looked a right old pain in the rear to do. Good video.
If it's already swollen, it must be removed and get a new battery. It's not as scary as you'd think but *you have to be ready for the worse case - fire.* If you can, let the battery indicator go to empty but probably it does that on it's own pretty fast. Empty also means less energy inside the battery and less chances for smoke/fire. Try to do it slowly and you'll be ok. Keep the tablet with the puffy battery on a surface that won't burn such as metal, ceramic tile or other. Once the battery is out, *submerge it in salty water to discharge it* - few days - then dump it in recycle bin if they accept lithium batteries in your area otherwise regular trash.
