Well, Haro Aso-sensei made 2 others Alice series : "Alice in Border Road" that happened in Kyoto and "Alice in Borderland Retry" is in Tokyo years after the meteor strike, but I don't know if they will make it into live action series.
@@syammaarif7239 Both are too short to actually be an entire season unless they really stretch it out and pad for time by giving every side charcter a long background story.
There are 2 jokers in a pack. A colourful one and a dark one... regardless how the cartoon version went thru could potentially stretch it out for two more seasons. The closest thing to a joker I saw in the series was the guy on season 1 getting a drink from a girl and just finding humour on the whole thing but there is also a dark joker too.
@@user-gh6jhs9ev2l agree , if the queen of hearts is playing with their hearts ♥️, desire and emotions.. The joker can be tricky with their minds.. just like the joker in batman hahaha… it is like a pokemon card, you need to based it on their personality .. haha
The ending was perfect to me. The only downside is I wanted to keep watching because I was totally invested in all the characters. Great series with smart writing and amazing cast. American shows should take notes.
Expected more the games were great But how they ended it got to a point where it got repetitive Talking Talking Blah blah blah 😑 I wanted that feeling of fear Anger Deadly I'm on my own Play to win or survival type of games like the first season
I haven't read the manga so I don't know if this is confirmed or not.. but a theory I have is that the red lasers are not lasers, they are the persons heartbeat flatlining.
That final episode was such a whirlwind of emotions for me. I was okay with the VR, then I was angry with the aliens, then I was even angrier with the psychiatrist scene, but then they redeemed themselves with the actual ending. I definitely need to read the manga. Love your channel and my fingers are crossed to win the Dawn of the Dead movie. Especially since my birthday is January 16th. 😁
"Psychiatrist" scene of the last episode really terrified me because it has the same vibe with Legion season 1. I also kinda hope the ending is real (aka not the joker trick) because Arisu and the others really went through a lot.
I believe they ended it in a way where it could either be the end of the show, or open for a third season. Which considering the show is top 10, I believe there’s a good chance there will be a third season
well, in the last scene: all the other cards fly away as a sign that they have been collected, but the joker card still stays on the table, and i thought that the joker card meant the players have been trolled and not returned to the actual real world.
Yeah! Plus, if you look closely the little kid appears back with his parents... yet his parents were supposed to be dead. So it really might be an illusion.
@@jdennis867 i believe that Ann was brought back to like through electroshocking because Kuina was holding her hand and said “we are going back together” (i don’t remember exactly what she said) but since they were in contact that made her live
The series came to a full close and i like how it naturally ended. Instead of a season 3, they should do a spin-off series now having Banda and the other guys that opted to stay as citizens of Borderland as the new protagonists of the story. This way they can explore the lore of the games and Joker without affecting the initial story. I understand this is not in the source material but it would be fun to see how they do it.
@@zoenotok9792 yea that would be great too. We have not seen the back story of Queen of Spades and she said she does not want hypocrites, they can give her a compelling backstory. Also, we have not seen the King of Hearts. Would be great if we'll see him.
@HeyImMagenta it's more than that. Base on what i know, these people were forcefully brought to near death experience by that sudden burst of meteorite. On Joker's words, not all people deserve to die from that unconventional accident. So Joker gave them a chance of survival if they finished the games. It's really not about winning, it's more of your will to survive as a player. Like Heya, she really did not give up until the end even with her foot cut off. Speaking of, the injuries they got from the games is reflective to their state irl. But i like to think of it as reverse. It's more like your real body was injured thus it manifests in the games. So if your body died irl, it will manifest as you giving up or dying in the games. That's is why the citizens like Banda who opted to stay in Borderlands are just now in comatose, bc their real bodies are physiologically okay, it's just that their consciousness in the manner of "will" is not yet back. So if you really died from the explosion, no matter what you do in the games you would still end up dying bc there's no body for you to be back to. But you dont know that as a player so would either still try to survive or just give up. What im trying to say is that Joker doesn't see it fit that all those random people caught in the explosion to just die and give the death they dont deserve. He himself does not want to make that choice for them so they are placed in the Borderlands to see who'll survive and who won't.
As much as I want to see more of this show and more character development after they get out of the hospital I feel like this is a good way to end it. The last two episodes had me going through so many emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat. I think it's my new favorite show and the fact that I binge watched it as soon as it came out at 3am EST I will have to watch it again.
I think this means we will see Joker. In the manga, Joker appears to Arisu before he returns to the world of the living and asks “What do you think? Do i look like god, or the devil?” Arisu thinks a moment, then replies neither. He thinks of the Sanzu river (think river styx for greek mythology), and realizes Joker is the ferryman. He is the one who carrys the dead to the afterlife. The borderlands are a proving ground, the games are real, and only the winners can come back to life, or stay to test the next group of people. That is the purpose of the Borderlands.
I see the joker card in the ending as a reference to the manga series, something to intriguate who is watching, as we know that in the manga, he is the one watching everything. Alice in borderland is an amazing series, literally binge watched the second s2 came out, but i dont think we need another season. Maybe some spin offs or smthg, but i love the way it ended: still misteryous, intriguing and breathtaking. :))
I agree. It was a happy end for me and i don't want them making another season just to unravel that happy ending. I am so gonna miss this series. Every character was interesting
The manga has a mini-sequel called Alice in Borderlands Retry. I highly recommend it. It's on Arisu too, as he returns back to the Borderlands one final time and confirms what happened to him and Usagi in the real world in the end
I don’t want another season. This show was so good, and everyone right now has a happy ending whom survived. If we get another season they might make me very sad 😂
@@jdennis867 Well what they really went through was Jokers test. In the source material, the Borderlands are basically the ‘shores’ of the River Styx. The games and their bizzare nature are all about testing who dies and passes on and who stays to go back.
@@jdennis867 Not really, while they do lose their memories they still retain the lessons learned and the connections they created. It's why Arisu and Usagi still get together, the one archer girl visits Aguni and Niragi and Chisiya have that convo in the hospital.
@@jdennis867 They don't lose the feelings and connections they had with each other. That's why Arisu and Usagi felt a vague sense of familiarity between each other though they weren't sure where it came from. That's why they eventually get married anyway in the manga.
A Joker means a second chance, it’s symbolize that after an experience of near death they were given a joker, a second chance. The ending is good like that
Really nicely wrapped up! Just finished the show and I am VERY satisfied with the ending. I don't know the last time I saw a show ACTUALLY have a satisfying ending.
@@hartejgrewal5246 You didn't understand. This was *not* made up in people's minds. The Borderlands was indeed real, just in a supernatural sense. It is Limbo, the realm between life and death. Their souls were transported to the Borderlands and when they cleared the games, they were returned to their physical bodies.
@@hartejgrewal5246 The alien theory is cliche and Mira even made fun of the idea. The Borderlands being Limbo actually fits well with the theme of the story.
@@tonytan5945 and is this borderland supposed to be like a 2nd chance given to people after they die. Like in a whole other situation in their world a person gets into a car accident and is supposed to die, but he is given a 2nd chance by going to the borderlands and if he completes all the games like aguni did, he’ll come back to life? Or does this borderland only apply to this one time only to the people who got caught up in the meteor attack? Why would it only apply to them? I hope you get what I’m trying to say, it’s kinda confusing
@@hartejgrewal5246 The Borderlands applies to everyone who suffers a near-death experience. For example, if your heart stops. It is a test on whether you truly want to live again. Those who are on the *brink of death* in the real world go to the Borderlands. Their survival in the Borderlands determines whether they fight to stay alive or succumb to death in the real world. If you're 100% dead however, then you just skip the Borderlands and go straight to the afterlife as there's no way to come back to the world of the living. The Borderlands wasn't just exclusive to the people afflicted by the meteor. The Borderlands has probably existed since the beginning of time and people have been playing games there for centuries upon centuries. Thing is, those who survive the Borderlands have no recollection of it when they come back to life in the real world. Therefore, their survival from what should have killed them is just seen by others as a miracle or whatever.
I was thinking maybe their survival also depended on how strong their mindset were, the stronger their will to live were, the higher their chances of surviving all these gunshot and stab wounds 😂
im still confused how Ann came back to life, everyone else died. and that one legged girl shouldve been dead but Ann gets stabbed a few times but dreadlocks chick and one legged survive those brutal attacks?
Just finished the show. I was blown away by the true ending after being juked several times in the same episode. I never saw it coming. What a masterful finish to this story.
I also thought one idea related to the Joker is that they reveal uncomfortable truths. So perhaps a part of the Borderland is that it’s intended to reveal who the players really are, and can be. Like how people like Arisu became better, and some like Naragi became monsters
@@shamiabaines5667 I was thinking that too! Logically speaking, the actor of Banda and the other new cast are pretty famous in Japan, I can't imagine they joined the cast for a few minutes of screen time. It felt like a lot of foreshadowing to Banda going head to head with the main characters in a future season.
a secret source told me there'll not only the season 3 but 3 more seasons. In season 3, the Joker introduce a new sets of boss, tarot cards. Just at the end of season 3 when all the tarots got beaten, it introduce a new set of bosses again - the Uno cards. And at the end of season 4, the camera pan to a Mahjong ...
I started this series because I wanted something like squid games and I was not disappointed. And since second seasons are usually better then first seasons, I wasn't disappointed once again!
It doesn't need a season 3. I think they wrapped it all up at the end of s2. I like the twist about life, death, and the afterlife, and what borderland represents. Granted, it's a gruesome way to get back to the living world, but it's a good concept of the phrase "he's fighting for his life" when someone is in a coma. I really enjoyed it. Plus the production value is great, i never once preferred a live action to an anime before this. 😊 I hope they make more stuff like this, exploring the themes of life and death and the possibility of an afterlife.
@@IAmCuon I don't really agree with this take tbh. I get where ur coming from but i cant agree with it but i respect your opinon. Personally I feel as if they have done enough for the whole series killing the "Joker" would not only end the Borderlands but it would cause anyone who dies to never have a second chance like how they got a second chance. Just like how some people irl have died for multiple minutes on end. IF they decide to make a season 3 i would still watch it and enjoy it but they would have to do it where someone occurs within the time of being alive and being dead. For example as shown in the 3rd last scene in the city we see people under the rubble being pulled up and given CPR if the Joker is then killed what happens to said people? It kinda ruins the whole series and makes everything unexplainable. I agree with A's take on how they are "fighting for their (Arisu and Co) life" this makes sense as well as their supported evidence of using being in a coma as a great example. This not only allows room for the Joker to be left alone to continue to give those a second chance when necessary. If they do "end it once and for all" no other person will be given a second chance and to me, that kinda isnt fair. He gave them a chance so why shouldn't others be given that same chance in that universe Even if a season 3 is made i still enjoyed 'Alice in Borderland' as a whole. The production and cinematography was amazingly done. The effects of the melting human body undergoing sulfuric acid being poured onto them was extremely well done. Including the Massacre Scene in the opening of Season 2 with the tank rifle and all the coordinated stunts. I only part i didnt enjoy was how they rushed all the games nearing the end that excluded great side characters in the Manga. But overall 9/10 better than the anime. Dont agree with the take Cuan but still all love
@@IAmCuon End the Borderlands? The purpose of the Borderlands is to give people a second chance at coming back to life in the real world. If it ends, that means if you are on the brink of death in real world you would just die. There would be no test where you can earn your second chance or anything.
Such a nice ending. I was so sad at the psychiatrist scene but I was ready to accept it i thought it would be a good twist but then the real ending came and it was even better
Watched this as soon as I finished season 2. How many twists were there in the last episode? DAMN my mind malfunctioned so many times but this cleared everything up so thank you.
prequel could be nice to see more from the people who became the facecards. wat their games were like. its also possible they do the spinoffs in 1 season
It really does since there is prequel Alice in border road but if they wish to continue to the 3rd season then they need to the adapt the sequel manga Alice in borderland retry
I agree with you on the opinion that I hope the show ends here. The show, the ending, the games, the characters and how likeable or connected you could get to them, everything in this show up to this point has been perfect. The ending made me almost tear up when I saw Kuina being accepted for who she is as well as Heya and Aguni being alive. A small part of me wants to see more of these amazing characters but at the same time, this ending was satisfying for me and many others. 10/10 show and experience for me
A little off topic, but a great detail that piqued my curiosity, was the foreshadowing of the meteor. In episode 4, you think you will get an explanation to what really happend that day in Tokyo. The girl in the van claiming to remember what really happend, telling how it wasnt fireworks, then BOOM ... cliffhanger. It just stuck to the back of my head for the rest of the season, longing for answers, but in a good way - not ruining the rest of the experience. A minor detail, but a well made one. And I love how it just all made sense to me in the final reveal.
@@randriu1221 that what i thought too when i started to believe ariso was actually just crazy in a hospital. it all added up really well for that to actually be the conclusion- so good.
Theres so many ways this show could have gone wrong, but it managed to be the best thing I've seen on Netflix. All the villains are respectable, all the heroes are flawed but valuable, and most of the death games are intelligently crafted. While there are some moments that kinda fell flat, they are completely overshadowed by all the positive aspects of this movie :p overall very well done
bro i just want them to remember their times in the borderland, like i wanted Arisu, Usagi, Kuina, Chishiya and the others to become a friend group it would’ve been cool 😭😭
I believe they will make a third season. The show is top 10 in numerous countries at the moment. And you have to remember, it’s a business. They’re tryna make money.
Yeah I agree. Afterall, this is Netflix we're dealing. They like to milk more money out of all their popular shows, as much as they can, because it's about profit.
My personnal interpretation was that the games were their and when they died it meant that they didn't have the will to survive, their mind basically giving up
Okay, 2 Joker per deck, and remember those 2 guy at the end who decided to stay? They said: we found the perfect partner who i can trust, meaning that they think about themselves being similarly powerful, aswell as they want to become the king of this country, and they both tricked the Jack of Hearts nicely. I dont think all of it was a coincident, after all, i think everyone except them returned to the 'real life', so its possible they became the Jokers. And the face of the Joker is disturbing, while the other cards just have a nice illustration. Btw, one of the guys accepting to stay is a serial killer, while the other is almost 100% a sociopath. Would make sense to me,but we'll see
I rewatched the last episode, and had another theory. When Arisu leaves the Borderland, he meets with his friends, and has a little talk, about how he should enjoy life. In the manga, he meets with the Joker, not his friends, so what if they want to say, that somehow his friends became the Jokers? I know, sounds stupid, but i just cant forget the thought, what if? Anyways, waiting for season 3 begins in 3... 2... 1!
I wish they included the reporter's interview when survivors were asked the reason as to why they think they're still alive and if they found the purpose of life now that they were given a 2nd chance. That was the purpose of the series after all but since it was cut off S2 feels missing a lot.
In my opinion, the card represents the mangaka himself- the joker portrayed in the manga and the series are different. The manga joker is reversed, which in tarot means there's a new project that can be started but isn't ready to be "birth" yet. The series joker is upright meaning a start of a new beginning, journey and potential. Their basically hinting to a new chapter/season in series and/or manga.
I personally think not only will we be introduced to the joker, the creator of the world and it’s games, but we will see other people in other areas of the world fight for their life in the borderlands. For instance, the next season might take place in a different country where a natural disaster with massive potential casualties took place. I think the story of Arisu and friends officially ended though.
just finished it. amazing. I would be happier if they slowly remembered everything and got together! also the joker/ferryman could be revealed and explained the experience they had a bit more
This season 2 is better, or if not, as great as season 1. I just love the games and the thrill. Hoping there are still more seasons but the final episode is already a fitting ending to the series. Love it. 🃏
this was such a good analysis! i appreciate the tie in to the manga, since i’ve never read it, and explaining the joker’s place. i hope this means that it’s simply his calling card. although i loved the series and part of me wants more, it wouldn’t be the same without the whole cast, plus i think it would be really hard to watch arisu struggle through borderland again without his team and the character development they all had.
personally i felt a bit deflated by the final ep and would LOVE a third season that’s totally crazy with even more twists and i feel the Joker would be a perfect villain for it!
Indeed this feels like a true ending but due to the change they made at the end with the Joker card instead of exactly like the manga, this might still imply that the showrunners will have a choice of doing a season 3 or not.
Season 3 and 4 should be a prequel on how the face cards on how they arrived, survived their games as a group and what lead them to create their games and maybe even take out players until the event of season 1
I would be disappointed if they continued the series, the ending is perfect as is, the characters get to live, and the Joker card gives us a little bit of hint of mystery to the whole ending
There are 2 jokers in a pack of cards. 1 is a colourful one. 2 is a dark one basically black and white. This means that there could be 2 more seasons as they can dedicate 1 season per card. If the show is popular and a good money spinner for them.
S2 ending was perfect I would not go a third season. However if Netflix threw money at me then I would setup third season with totally new players. A deck has two jokers which sets up Perfectly since two players from s2 decided to stay as citizens. So they would be the two jokers who run the next games for the remaining people who died for a min from the meteor strike. That’s who I would do it I would not bring back the original cast. They already had their perfect ending
@@Speed_Mcqueen_3 I mean I felt like this was a true ending ? All characters who survived got there lives back and got to move on an appreciate life, a 3rd season could be cool but most of the time when a unnecessary season is made just due to money it ends up being bad and ruins peoples view on the show, 🤷♂️
This is where the manga ended anyway. Well actually the manga ended with a 2 year timeskip where Arisu studies to become a psychologist and Usagi takes him mountain climbing every weekend but still.
im actually really happy to watch this video! bcs from watching season 2's final episode it gives the impression that none of this actually really happened, that it was all just Arisu's coma dream, all the characters and all was just in Alice's mind because he got a glimpse of them, just like how you would never create a new face in your dream, just some random person u maybe forgot about irl. I was waiting for them to confirm that it all actually happen, but then Arisu didnt even recognize Usagi! Im so glad the original manga story showed the joker and confirmed it all happen and was by his doing, but the player just doent remember it.
I am a huge fan of the series but I do hope they stop at season 2 as well because it was a very satisfying ending to all the emotions felt throughout the series! I started reading the manga right after, and I have to say Netflix did a great job at introducing the borderlands bc in the manga there are a few more direct hints of what happened in vol. 1, whereas in the show I was completely surprised by the ending. Anyway, it is my favorite show ever and they did such an amazing job with the cast as well ❤
I think that in some old Japanese mythology, when someone is dying, they go into a limbo where they have to battle defeat the demons to return back to the land of the living. This may be reinterpretation of some old Japanese mythologies.
The joker card refers to us. We are the joker. it was just a minute but i took me days by watching 😂 loved it ❤emotional , action ,thirll its a master piece
Who knows Netflix will renew another season. The manga actually ends this way and I'm quite satisfied by it. If Netflix will renew, they better live to the hype of the original. I doubt that they will cast the same actors. Someone said that the Joker represents life itself. By choosing to not be citizens of the Borderland, they are already choosing the Joker card, the difficult card where everything is uncertain and that you will not know when you die unlike the games in the borderlands. Very satisfying ending for a series. P.S. I feel like that they butcher Heiya's character in the show. She is supposed to be this next level bad-ass similar to Usagi or Kuina but I don't feel like the character in the show is like that.
I’ll be happy either way! All my favorites lived and are going to hopefully live better lives and I rlly want to see what happens after but I think the joker card being a nod to the ending is also so cool
over all the show was beautiful and adapted amazingly from the manga which shows that it IS POSSIBLE for great IRL adaptations of anime / manga. Im super happy that the genre i've ben enjoying since i was a kid is finally being recognized and more appreciated
I feel that either way is a win. If it just ended with this, it was successfuly a heartfelt and flawless story that was evenly paced, had endearing characters, and it all felt quite wrapped up with an added tidbit of intrigue that left it open to one's imagination. If it just ended there, great. But to be given a chance to see what new and bombastic fates await our fave characters, then I'd buckle up for that ride too.
They say that "sometimes, there's a hint of the ending in the opening" and Alice in borderland executed it perfectly! 🤩. I really liked how they made the last episode, it answered my major questions. If you are one of the people who haven't watched the show yet, you have to watch it! It's definitely recommended for Survival, Mystery and Horror lovers. Trigger warning: Gore, adūltery
For those looking for the right and concrete explanation, there is no such thing. The show was a double entendre, which means there are TWO ways to take it: Literally and Figuratively Literally, the games existed in the so-called Borderland, the God/Evil (Joker) was behind it. Figuratively, the games did not exist AT ALL and were all just symbolism and representation of their struggles, fears and regrets where in their whole life flashed before their very eyes---this explains why most patients in a coma or those in a 50-50 condition claim that they've seen God or the afterlife...it wasn't God, it was a manifestation of their fears and regrets...and I personally believe that everything that happened on the show was figurative because it ended realistically: they were hit by a meteorite, got hospitalized, clinically dead for a minute and survived it. The clue has been there all along when they saw the fireworks in the beginning which turned out to be a meteorite, which proves the point that what happened in Borderland is not really what happened...the Joker card tells us that we shouldn't take life so seriously, that life is a series of games, there are losers and winners, so might as well enjoy and learn from the experience... And this is what I love about the ending, because the show was able to give the viewers two ways to take it while providing closures for both...which one is right? It's up to YOU
If borderland would have season 3 the comic author and the film maker would have work together. Before the meteor scene alice meet his old pals and said you need to live to the fullest, I think that's the joker card will come to play if there is a third season, all the player that are refusing to stay in borderland will be judge if they are worthy to be revived again or not. But hey the movie just got out, and the comic end with the joker scene and alice got his happy ending there.
I don’t think it was the last season. Netflix ALWAYS tell us when they want to finish a show (like telling us the final season is coming out in »… ») but this time they just announced season 2. It still can be cancelled like Fate/Winx saga; There’s possibilities for a season 3 and Im so here for it!! They can use the Borderland, Retry storyline to create a whole season of 8 episodes and end it with it. I liked this ending when all my favs lives happily, but I’m frustrated because none of them remember each others! I hope for z new season to see them remember each others
this is totally an inception ending and definitely the series telling us that it is truly a work of art where it is up to us to interpret the ending. hell, they even made fun of us by literally calling out the VR, aliens, time travel and evil rich people theories (I personally was on the time travel theory lol)
the only reason I'd want another season is to bring back their memories. I feel like the reason everyone went through their character developments was because of the games and then for them to just forget it all seems pointless. ofc I want a happy ending buttt yk
Exactly. The scriptwriters spending years developing the characters for nothing😂 surely not the end, Netflix is a business and now that they’ve seen it’s already top 10 shows on Netflix they’ll renew a new season
@@princessyona but from what I’ve heard there’s a sequel manga where Arisu returns to the borderland. Maybe they could use that manga as a guide to season 3?
I think the problem is that they didn’t play the Aces…. They did the numbers and the face cards! They must play the Aces…. The joker revealing itself may mean that its not over because we haven’t done the Aces
The ending gives me apocalypse feeling. The meteorite, the life death experience. Mira said “you have 2 choices, that will show your true character”, feels like their answer will lead them to paradise or hell. A choice that proves, if you are good or bad. Those who willingly choose to stay and continue this sickening games end up in hell. But those who choose to leave, start a new life even though they did bad in the past have a spot in paradise, example niragi. A lot of people said the end seems odd kinda dreamy plus the kid with his dead parents, like them being in paradise. Now about joker, he is like a ferryman that’s also gatekeeping the door to paradise or hell. Also manga reference “do you think I’m god or the devil”. This is what joker asked arisu, weird again. So when their life was on the line, they were given games to pass testing them and their decisions lead them to one way or another. My conclusion, all of them are dead (I mean who would have made it with a meteorite falling this close) and the games were just a test. Feels stupid I know..
I’m a little torn here. I thought season two was absolutely brilliant, and the ending was perfect. That said, I like this show so much, I would love to see more. I hate to think that it’s truly over!
I interpreted it as people dying irl slightly faster will die sooner in borderland and people holding on and fighting it were dying slower and those who won were able to get rescued. Like how Chishiya burnt Niragi who was slowly dying but he fought through in reaches the end, he was actually getting burnt irl and still survived it. Aguni survived near death thrice in the games which means he almost died about thrice but still stayed alive and couldn't be killed in the games. And the final time while he's bleeding out is when he gets to go back and even though he's in bad shape after holding out for that long, he is saved. Ann was likely dead for slightly more than a minute but Chiaki holding on to her while waking represents something like sharing her life force and Ann being saved by the shock at the very last minute after they all wake up. The games did happen but it works like fate but in limbo. It represents the willpower to survive and just death itself. Likewise whoever was burnt in the witch hunt died by fire, one by one. Those that survived just remember it as a shared dream that changed them. As all close death encounters do. So far many games took place in Tokyo and whoever chose to stay had to work for the Joker in making games. Either in underground offices, or surveying the area, observing for information, or making games. The Joker is Charon, or death, and like the king of the limbo, the border between life and death. It doesn't exactly control what happens in limbo, the finale is just it watching if the strongest people can survive the biggest challenges. Those that stayed will keep making new games until they die since they're already dead irl. They can definitely do a spinoff in a different part of the world where some catastrophe happens. Ofcourse that's just my take and the manga is different but it's a really nice story in that sense.
great vid! Really explained everything I was questioning about the ending, and I agree, I think that it is a perfect place to end it and given the context in the manga the joker card being a calling card Easter egg is great!
I believe the hospital scene was a dream and it was Arisu's way of trying to remove himself from Borderland. He will wake up and realise that he still has to participate in the games
Alright man I’m finally finished with season 2 of Alice in borderland and wow. Loved the development that all the characters got. This was definitely well worth the wait. The plot armour was kinda ridiculous for a lot of situations tho and I couldn’t help but laugh at how mfs were able to avoid death so much. Especially the king of spades and the people like haiya who survived being shot EIGHT TIMES at point blank with an m4 lmaooo. Black clover levels of asspulling I like how it ended up basically being Japanese Lost with everyone in purgatory and having to fight to either pass on or get back to the real world. Still hurts that Chota Arisu and Karube couldn’t spend more time together. They deserved better. I’d love to see an OVA or whatever live action OVAs are called of like what the borderland will be like now with the people who chose to stay. If all the victims of the shibuya event are either passed on or came back to life, who would the players even be? Also who was behind the purgatory? Like seeing God would’ve been
While I was watching the last few eps I had a running joke to myself as I noticed I must of said “no way are they still alive” about 15 times 😂 took the words out of my mouth with your examples like the king of spades should’ve been blown to pieces 🤷🏽♂️😂 amazing series though but just sometimes a bit ridiculous with plot armour 😂
@@in0al Ann survived. She didnt die. You dont need to say out the words of choosing to stay the Borderlands or leave. She probably just thoughto fi t silently in her head
Okay this is my take on the plot armour.. I feel like they have so much fight in them that they simply just cannot die- boderlands seems like the in-between life and death, so they have so much willpower that they will not die.
I like where they left it, and I hope they don't expand on the Joker. I personally viewed it as an interpretive ending in the eyes of the viewer, and to imply that they're still in as a 'big joke' is painful. As for all the events, if not for following other characters, I would have thought it took place only in the main character's head based on all the people he saw at the square.
Since we met the Joker in the manga (he's basically the ferry man between the land of the living and the afterlife) I really can't tell what the card is supposed to hint at. We know he basically runs the games but that's it. Idk it feels like they tried to make a s3 teasing ending? But what are they gonna do for that. Alice in Borderroad?
The psychiatry scene made me kinda angry but then i thought that the episode is still long so i waited and was relieved that we got an better ending than this trope
It doesn't seem like anyone is talking about the fact that Arisu and his friends have a discussion about the games in the bar, then they go out to live life to its fullest only to get struck down by the meteor... So they all remembered the games prior to their dying. I don't even know how to make sense of this fact!

Exactly
Agreed. Spin offs is the way to go here, let poor Arisu finally have a good life and the girl of his dreams.
Don’t forget some prequels with the dead kings/queens who had more potential
I would be happy either way, i think it's a fine conclusion but if they actually have great ideas for season 3 i am all for it.
As much as I want to see more of this show and more character development after they get out of the hospital I feel like this is a good way to end it. The last two episodes had me going through so many emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat. I think it's my new favorite show and the fact that I binge watched it as soon as it came out at 3am EST I will have to watch it again.
if they can pull of a great season 3 then i will have it but it will be a risk for them to how to do it
I think this means we will see Joker. In the manga, Joker appears to Arisu before he returns to the world of the living and asks “What do you think? Do i look like god, or the devil?”
Arisu thinks a moment, then replies neither.
So the borderlands is also basically purgatory but with a spin on it and you might be able to come back.
Badass
King of Spades murked their whole crew though lol, half of them had unprecedented plot armor.
They could stretch it out for 2 more seasons because there are two jokers a colourful one and a dark one. I guess the dark one controls borderland
so cool
I see the joker card in the ending as a reference to the manga series, something to intriguate who is watching, as we know that in the manga, he is the one watching everything. @@hartejgrewal5246 The alien theory is cliche and Mira even made fun of the idea. The Borderlands being Limbo actually fits well with the theme of the story.

This makes sense as to why people didnt bleed to death at the end.
Yea I also thought “how da fuck did Aguni survive getting shot in the head and the girls surviving getting shot like 10 times”

I like the twist about life, death, and the afterlife, and what borderland represents.
He gave them a chance so why shouldn't others be given that same chance in that universe
Even if a season 3 is made i still enjoyed 'Alice in Borderland' as a whole. The production and cinematography was amazingly done. The effects of the melting human body undergoing sulfuric acid being poured onto them was extremely well done. What a series?! season 2 managed to be even better than season 1.
Love it. 🃏
I cried so hard at the end, no series have made me cry this hard..this really hit my feels. 10/10 ending, couldn’t be more perfect.
this was such a good analysis! i appreciate the tie in to the manga, since i’ve never read it, and explaining the joker’s place. i hope this means that it’s simply his calling card. although i loved the series and part of me wants more, it wouldn’t be the same without the whole cast, plus i think it would be really hard to watch arisu struggle through borderland again without his team and the character development they all had.
personally i felt a bit deflated by the final ep and would LOVE a third season that’s totally crazy with even more twists and i feel the Joker would be a perfect villain for it!
right omg
am i the only one that felt like i was in a fever dream after the show ended. like me, myself, I, and the joker just hanging out trauma bonding
OMG YES
oh then we'll have nekkid YamaPi back and millions of fangirls will die again lol
Exactly
2 seasons would just milk the series. Its good to leave the show as is, the most they can do without ruining the show is just 1 movie, and thats it.
When I tell you how much I cried in the last two episodes I’m being so serious when I say there was a puddle of tears on my laptop
S2 ending was perfect I would not go a third season.
However if Netflix threw money at me then I would setup third season with totally new players. A deck has two jokers which sets up
Perfectly since two players from s2 decided to stay as citizens. So they would be the two jokers who run the next games for the remaining people who died for a min from the meteor strike.
That’s who I would do it I would not bring back the original cast. They already had their perfect ending
@@Speed_Mcqueen_3 they didn’t really lose there development they all learned from the experience without understanding why
Well actually the manga ended with a 2 year timeskip where Arisu studies to become a psychologist and Usagi takes him mountain climbing every weekend but still.
im actually really happy to watch this video!
bcs from watching season 2's final episode it gives the impression that none of this actually really happened, that it was all just Arisu's coma dream,
all the characters and all was just in Alice's mind because he got a glimpse of them, just like how you would never create a new face in your dream, just some random person u maybe forgot about irl.
No way in hell I would survive any of those games in Borderland.
I would die at episode 1 lmao
Please, i would cluelessly walkout the arena and get laser through
Alice in borderland was my favourite Christmas present 🤭 they did not disappoint
She is supposed to be this next level bad-ass similar to Usagi or Kuina but I don't feel like the character in the show is like that.
after an all nighter binging the whole season that joker face was so so uncanny
But to be given a chance to see what new and bombastic fates await our fave characters, then I'd buckle up for that ride too.
this was an amazing ending. and netflix canceling left and right i think this is it. also, i would like a Gantz series or even a better anime
Love the breakdown and the ending is indeed mindblowing, thank you :)
The show was a double entendre, which means there are TWO ways to take it: Literally and Figuratively
Literally, the games existed in the so-called Borderland, the God/Evil (Joker) was behind it.
It's up to YOU
Inspired to read the manga since watching. And oh my days the king of spades battle had me in awe!
@@neon5433 it's not that easy tho tbf cuz season 2 already went up to the end of the manga
@@princessyona but from what I’ve heard there’s a sequel manga where Arisu returns to the borderland. Maybe they could use that manga as a guide to season 3?
@@neon5433 oh yhh you're right I think it's like a spinoff version. Lets hope for season 3🤞
Episode 7 when everybody fought the King of ♠️ was the best episode ever! He’s a savage and never ran out of ammo but they took his @ss out 👍🏾
I think the problem is that they didn’t play the Aces….
This ain't stupid , feels so accurate smh
Ofcourse that's just my take and the manga is different but it's a really nice story in that sense.
great vid! Really explained everything I was questioning about the ending, and I agree, I think that it is a perfect place to end it and given the context in the manga the joker card being a calling card Easter egg is great!
how come nobody points out mira's acting? her facial expressions was really on point
The thing that they couldn't remember anything after coming back broke me inside.
Soo basically this entire series could be described with "Your Name", even with the scene of Arisu meeting Usagi.
I believe the hospital scene was a dream and it was Arisu's way of trying to remove himself from Borderland.
He will wake up and realise that he still has to participate in the games
What if the 2 joker cards represented the two questions asked … to be a permanent citizen or to decline?
omg this is the best theory ive seen so far!!!
whats the significant theory to show one at the end then? colored one being going home and dark staying?
Both sum up everything as one sick joke I guess
Alright man I’m finally finished with season 2 of Alice in borderland and wow. Loved the development that all the characters got. This was definitely well worth the wait. The plot armour was kinda ridiculous for a lot of situations tho and I couldn’t help but laugh at how mfs were able to avoid death so much. Especially the king of spades and the people like haiya who survived being shot EIGHT TIMES at point blank with an m4 lmaooo. Black clover levels of asspulling
I like how it ended up basically being Japanese Lost with everyone in purgatory and having to fight to either pass on or get back to the real world.
@@Cjs94 the king of spades legitimately had me in stitches fam. Man was the terminator
@@in0al Ann survived. She didnt die. You dont need to say out the words of choosing to stay the Borderlands or leave. She probably just thoughto fi t silently in her head
@HASH13 she did, doctors cut her open to save her near the end
They didn't confirm season 3. But they also didn't say season 2 is the last season. They're most likely gonna push the story
can someone delete my memory so i can watch these 2 seasons again!!! this was a master piece imo..
This season was like a fever dream. What a great ending
Man this series is a 10/10
The psychiatry scene made me kinda angry but then i thought that the episode is still long so i waited and was relieved that we got an better ending than this trope
When arisu and ousagi were in the warm pool with the elephants i think they saw the joker staring at them. I dont know whats the meaning though
That is dead person
That is just corpse from previous players in the stadium
yea it was a little hard to see but i assumed it was dead body in the rubble, kinda ruins the mood for them to kiss
It doesn't seem like anyone is talking about the fact that Arisu and his friends have a discussion about the games in the bar, then they go out to live life to its fullest only to get struck down by the meteor...
So they all remembered the games prior to their dying. I don't even know how to make sense of this fact!
