My bike had the same issues, The Stator broke once and it released metal into my pan, Engine started to knock. Now I need a new motor. Been watching your videos for ever. Thank you for sharing!

Dang, I'm sorry to hear you need a motor. I occasionally will check eBay for engines in hopes of finding a good specimen to grab, but they are kind of pricey. like $1500 pricey. I see 2007 FZ1s for sale in my area for like $3000 or less, so it makes me question if it would be better to just buy a donor bike or something instead.

I think literally every fz1 I've every heard had the same noise I love it actually its just the nature of the beast

I’ve definitely heard it on a lot of them. Sounds like a turbo or supercharger whine. Would be nice if it actually was a supercharger or turbo lol

Ive owned my 08 fz1 for about a year now and it has the same noise but i dont think mine is as loud as yours but its hard to tell through phone. The fz1 is a great well rounded bike and ive really enjoyed owning it.

Does yours change with engine RPM or is it only there at idle? I agree the fz1 is a well rounded bike for sure!

@@grimsmotovlogs369 mine only makes that sound at ideal, it's a loud bike and I really don't notice it when I rev it but I haven't ridden it in about a week. I've always thought that sound was normal but the next time I ride I'll pay more attention to it. If you find out it's an issue please make another video explaining what the problem is.

I hope I can too, unfortunately I'm pretty certain I wont know until the motor goes, if it ever does. Knock on wood. I think the whine noise at idle is normal, I think if it revs up with the engine its likely not normal.

You been chasing this noise for so long I forgot what the sound was that you’re chasing…..hearing that whine I now recall seeing in many forum posts that it is “considered” normal for he most part …some fz1’s seem to have it and some don’t . Those posts of those who have it say things like they have ridden 10’s of thousands of miles with no issue ….I did recently come across on fb a post where commenters mentioned exactly what it was ,and sorry I can’t recall it…. I’ll try and look it up again (which my old non computer literate ass never seems to be able to do ) and if I somehow find it I’ll comment here with info ……also I’ve had this whine on older bikes back in the day and never had a issue , in fact it became normal to me and I’m not even sure my fz1 doesn’t have it …sitting here I wanna say it does but I don’t know….my bike is not a prime example so take that with a grain of salt lol…. Time to enjoy the bike bro

Surprised you got two lemon Yamahas ….I only had one lemon , err ….bike that couldn’t handle my riding …a 1988HD sportster…lol yeah not meant to ride and shift near redline like Japanese bikes so I learned inline 4’s are my salvation….my second bike back when a teen ,yamaha maxim 750 I rode for like 3-4 yrs and only ever put tires on it …seriously no oil changes or Tuneups or anything but tires once …oh and had carbs synced …I beat the living hell out of that bike every day I rode it and still sold it for decent money ( at the time decent like over half what I paid) …. My now hi mileage 09 fz1 melted my rectifier and has a rough running small issue at low rpm’s when rolling …just Sunday I hit 140mph(with lots of rpm’s left ) ,quickly lol, and let off to a sort of loud “pop” out the exhaust …so imma finish up my tune up and then have ecu flashed if still rough running ….mainly because I just realized my ais system was removed (block off plates in place ) and I have a cheap slip on/ mid pipe with expo servo disconnected…. Oops I went on a tangent there lol ….my long winded point ….? I suspect you’re good to go …. If you think of it and you have the time and a a laser thermometer , do me a fav measure temp of your rectifier after riding awhile ….. I don’t know what’s normal and after melting one ,and installing a em stator and rectifier I’ve noticed my rectifier gets very hot ! Can only touch it for like a second or so before pain lol …. Most say it’s fine but I dont like not knowing …my one time temp check (with a amazon laser thermometer costing like $40 +/-, so idk accuracy )was at 150 degrees after idling up till fans came on…and it felt like when I touched it in rides since …sorry for another long comment , I just can’t seem to be able to help myself when I’m interested in a vids subject matter and it’s relatable 🤷🏼‍♂️😬

I do have a laser thermometer at work. If I remember to bring it home one of these days, I most definitely will take reading for you. Is it running rough? Like a misfire?

    • @vicpnut1

@@grimsmotovlogs369 I guess maybe a misfire but it’s subtle and when I put the exhaust baffle in it’s all but gone ..if I ran baffle all time I’d probably not of noticed ….fz1 forums ar3 split on why …some say running lean (which blows my mind ) some ecu needs flash cause no exup valve, or ecu needs flash because it’s set for emissions etc etc etc …. Not a mechanic so I’m gonna eventually get it checked at a shop …. I didnt find post that yet but will look again right now.👍🏼

That's odd. I know I have some random module wired in under my passenger seat that I have no clue what is for. I assumed it was for the exup valve since I have no check engine light for it. Maybe you do need a flash or a bypass for the exup?

I do not have a facebook at the moment, I will make some other social media accounts in the future. As for the noise, I'm still not convinced it 100% normal. But its given me no actual issues as of yet.
