Actually, nah In both version, your technically the hero. Think of it this way: you either stop Europe from going boom boom, kill perseus, and think everything's gonna end well..before alder kills you,not wanting to risk bell knowing the truth and staying alive. Or you decide that you want your revenge for what they did to you, erasing your memory, forcing you to fight against your comrades(hints are dropped throught the entire campaign, like anton calling you "damaged goods" or Hudson saying "alder knows all about that" when he says theres no truth) and even shoot up the KGB building. You lure them away from where perseus is,and either one: ambush them, and kill them,or two: lure them away so the nukes can detonate, sacrificing yourself for your comrades. Neither side is truly good in this game.
@J A pfft- adler erased someones memories and changed their identity, basically making them a sleeper agent that doesnt need activation, forcing them to shoot up the damn KGB building, which would be the same as making alex mason shoot up the fucking Pentagon or C.I.A building. Alder is evil. Even killing you if you decide to stop the nukes, why? Because your a loose end. You know the truth, and he doesnt want to risk you wanting him dead. Or exposing what they did to you to the public.
When Adler shot bell I called Adler all types of bitches and hoes. Then I refused to play Adler in multiplayer for two weeks because I went on a personal mission to kill every Adler player repeatedly like I only hunted down Adler players. This story got me in my feelings.
I’ve already seen tons of videos on this, but I personally like to think that Bell survived the headshot. He, the persona of “Bell”, dies but he manages to cling to life, albeit as an amnesiac. Warsaw Pact reinforcements arrive during the aftermath of Solevetsky and, seeing a promising candidate for brainwashing, implant memories to construct the “Stone” personality in multiplayer. I know it’s cliche, but it helps me to look at the ending more positively.
You have a map called Moscow in Cold War's MP. So saying there are no Europian maps in Cold War's MP. It's factually wrong. Garrison and Checkmate are set in Germany Not to mention Ruka and Alpine are located in the Soviet Union.
Idk about everyone else, but I was incredibly surprised that this cod wasn't just a "run through and kill the enemies" kind of cod. This cod had investigations, puzzle solving, and really required you to think and invest your time studying characters, and think about decisions. I want to see more of this in future cods. Only thing I was pretty disappointed about was the difficulty. I did my first run on "Realism" and at times it felt like "Regular" difficulty, it was too easy.
I agree the extra layers to find optionally was a good idea, personally I think black ops 1 was king in all ways though and that was quite linear compared to others especially 2 and 3, probably helped that levels felt really open and explorable and narratives wasn't obvious, i love how black ops levels felt more immersion because it was a good amount of normal gameplay without shoving you into forced cutscenes etc too much like this did, and i think at times dialogue options actually can take away immersion. Cold war wasn't really fun gameplay imo at all but graphically good. Also I'm beyond sick of certain cod tropes now, this game was decent and had an okay but too farfetched story that was short but somehow still felt slow. It did feel like a Bo1 spinoff or cousin of Bo1 rather than sequal. I wasn't a big fan of bo2 but it had good parts.
Playing it on realistic was very tough. I debated more than once on lowering the difficulty but glad I didn’t. Unfortunately there’s no achievement/trophy for realistic difficulty completion.
I like that you get to choose (the main part of) the ending with a simple dialogue choice though. I thought the side missions for the bonus parts were cool. But the story arch where you have to get everything right for the good ending like in Black Ops 2 was too difficult and tedious for me. Especially as you only had limited amounts of tries at doing it. The main thing I disliked about Cold War was that the campaign was a bit too short and I would like to get to know the backstories of some of the characters more, mainly Adler, Perseus and Bell. Other than that it was unexpectedly good. I’m guessing they’re going to continue this rebooted story line...
I honestly think Adler will be the next villain in the next black ops game. Would make sense with this ending and could take the story a whole lot more deeper and explain why he isn't in bo2 if you end up killing him in the next game as Mason or Woods.
I was kind of angry with him when he shoots Qasim on that rooftop in the scenario when I release him. After all, Qasim was terrified and practically pleading for mercy.
Yeah, when Adler took me to the cliffside and started talking to me I was like “Is he gonna shoot me or something?” And then literally at that moment Adler pulls his gun and I’m like “FFS! I SHOULD HAVE FUCKING KNOWN!”
No they bote shot each other And Adler wanted bell dead but If you save or park or Lazar(in the cannon endding you save park so let's go with park) Park Brainwashing you to be someone else because she owes you big time for saving her life and the C.I.A don't really care because they know you ain't gonna remember shit
@@callmevarez867 go and check his new name is stone Park already said she owes you that the game tells you that she will save you and she did and now bell is Brainwashed again
That person isn't perseus, that's anatoly makarov. That is vladimir makarov's father. Zakhaev was his personnel inside kgb. Makes you wonder the extent to where they go, doesn't it?
No he literally means the mission comes first "above all else" and he's killing you to keep the operation covert. Hes dealing in what we call "implied" task. His commander gives him discretion to do what he deems necessary. This is this difference between a soldier and an operator.
I’m actually very unsatisfied with the campaign endings. You really lose either way if you think about. The good ending is when you save Europe and save the day but you still get turned on by ur own team. Even when you turn on Perseus for the sake of millions of lives you still find a knife on your back. When you lie to Adler without telling Perseus, you still die along with millions of other people and possibly caused a world war. And when you lie to Adler and tell Perseus, Yeah it feels good to kill Adler, but what did it cost? Not only did you kill millions of innocent people and potentially cause a world war. But you also kill Woods and Mason, the characters that U loved since you were 10 years old, like they were just regular enemies in a normal mission. It really bothers me that the campaign was designed in a way that no matter what you do, you still lose. This campaign is the perfect example of “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” But not in a satisfying way at all. In a way, I felt cheated, But non the less; I still think it’s a great game.
Not all games have to have a good ending. In a way, these are probably the most realistic endings to such games; war is deception at the end of the day, so if anything BOCW portrays that brilliantly.
That what makes the ending brilliant imo. Either you do the right thing, but at the cost of yourself, or you join the bad guys, and they treat you better than Adler
@@ashhabimran239 Good ending does make 0 sense story wise though. Bell was already completely fine with the nuke plan. Theres nothing that happens during the story that would change that, his mind was already okay with the deathes of millions to empower the Union and cripple the States and any 'empathy' for the other side gained during the story would be banished when he learned how much he was defiled and brainwashed by the americans. The ambush or betrayal death endings are the only ones that would happen plot wise.

What if that standoff is actually a memory of Adler turning on someone else and Bell is replaying it in their head? If Adler can give a memory of his to someone else that makes them see it from outside of his perspective, then perhaps Bell can see that happening in Alaska. I mean, why would Adler honestly go thru the trouble of finding Bell in the rubble after the attack and not kill him while he's vulnerable, just to kill him later when he is armed? And don't anyone say Alder has ethics. He brainwashed someone to think they were someone else.
I believe I was because he couldn't risk bell surviving under the rumble and coming out to find Adlers secrets and exposing him but he also couldn't have anyone else know why he would kill bell if they found them so he brought them to where they were alone to finish them off in secret were no one was going to look in to there death that or it was a sort of symbolic send off to Adler

These endings are the perfect example of “die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”
Great quotes
Actually,nah
In both version, your technically the hero.
Die a Hero,Die a traitor,Live as a villain
@J A pfft- adler erased someones memories and changed their identity, basically making them a sleeper agent that doesnt need activation, forcing them to shoot up the damn KGB building, which would be the same as making alex mason shoot up the fucking Pentagon or C.I.A building. Alder is evil. Even killing you if you decide to stop the nukes, why? Because your a loose end. You know the truth, and he doesnt want to risk you wanting him dead. Or exposing what they did to you to the public.
Live longer. Be hero again.
Imagin victor reznov came out of nowhere and went "NOBODY DIES TODAY" it would be funny
This campaign made me wonder

I’ve already seen tons of videos on this, but I personally like to think that Bell survived the headshot. He, the persona of “Bell”, dies but he manages to cling to life, albeit as an amnesiac. Warsaw Pact reinforcements arrive during the aftermath of Solevetsky and, seeing a promising candidate for brainwashing, implant memories to construct the “Stone” personality in multiplayer.
I know it’s cliche, but it helps me to look at the ending more positively.
Yea i think stone is bell and no one will change my mind

I wasn't a big fan of bo2 but it had good parts.
also length, campaigns need to be longer man. Earlier CODs used to have longer campaigns.
@@DA-te7xe nah cw had an amazing campaign, way more fun than the boring repetitive norm for cod games
I like to think Bell and Adler shot and killed each other at the same time here, explaining why they aren't in BO2

To be fair. You don't see Bell actually die. 20 bucks says when the next black ops comes out it will continue off of this point. I'm betting bell is alive. Perseus is still alive and we got a job to do.
