Good video mate. Well done for measuring the wind at the actual tent. Helps give people looking at the tents performance for their use an accurate perspective 👍
I went out in my new Storm Star in Storm Bert 50 mph gusts did a short vid and tent was so strong and not flappy. I had no condensation make sure the 2 top vents are open, and the top inner zips shut. Water evaporates.through the solid inner to the outer! Great vid.
Superb vid as always.... im waiting to pull the trigger on the brown Storm star if they have a Christmas sale lol. Very reassuring its pretty much bomb proof
Nice video bud, I’ve had my Storm Star out in 45mph didn’t budge. Great pieces of kit. That roof pouch looks a great idea for your light and phone I’ll have to get myself one. Atb mate 👍🏼
Been planning on getting the Kuiu Storm for about nine months and within a month going to order it! Totally impressed, great video and yes you are right, you can't do much when mother natures throws wind, and rain at you. Stay in the tent and chill. It's all about the adventure and me time. Thankyou for sharing! Loved it!
I had the same problem with my Storm star too. When I pitched it in storm Bert. I used the footprint too,and the next morning the bathtub floor was soaking. I sent Kuiu a picture of it,asking if they new why it happened and I was issued a full refund, and allowed to keep the tent too. Exceptional customer services. Brilliant video though 😁
Intrigued here, as I own a new storm star too. Did you sleep with the inner fully closed? With similar tents, I’ve exposed the bug mesh on the doors, or left an inner door partially unzipped to allow a better airflow to reduce condensation. Never had huge issues though in the past, yet to try the SS properly though myself.
I've only pitched in garden-but was up during Darragh, though well sheltered. With outer vents open had puddle in bathtub floor-similar to other commentator. With vents closed-to stop water ingress- but just mesh doors had terrible condensation-spray shaken from sleeping bag, everything sodden. Worst I've ever seen. Whatever way I've pitched it only 38" inner height-meant to be 40". I'm short-long torso short legs & on 7.5cm mat head brushes inner. Don't like tethers to flat fly panels X4. The seam they're attached to doesn't appear reinforced, is it mechanically strong? When strut for outer vent used to prop open, it pushes fly down to contact inner. Think this is small indicator details not completely thought out. Lot of floppy unsecured material along foot of fly-only 2 anchors for these panels at head & foot. Billows into already small vestibules. Poor detail. And no mesh on outer vents.I mean, come on! Poor detail. Accommodation poor for packed size. Can't compress tent material much. Nallo goes to 1/2 size with poles removed. Intended motorbike touring so size critical, weight irrelevant. All this is overlooking carabiners, which are fiddly at best & potentially much worse. I think this application carbiner clips is very poorly implemented. A tent has to do a lot more than not blow away. Think this isn't really suited to wet N European use. Does wind, doesn't manage moisture well. At UK site RRP it's £648, +£74 footprint -which it absolutely needs to compete with properly rugged tents, import tax 12%, carriage say £30, then VAT, comes to £1006. I paid
Excellent stuff Stephen! Cant wait to get out in my SS! Reassuring footage here for sure. Was hoping this weekend but 70+ mph, not taking those kind of risks personally! I know my limits! Love the channel man ❤
Its nice ro be able to chill sometimes instead of concentrating on the content. Had a night up st abbs doing exactly that last weekend. Tent looks solid, just can't get away with the graphics but thats a personal thing. Certainly didnt budge a d any tent will get condensation in clag! Great watch 😊
I have the Mountain Star tent which is more like the 3 season version. I've only had it out three times now but so far it is a total pain in the ass to set up. Hopefully it gets easier.
New sub here. Great video and the tent looks fantastic, I’ve been looking at the Mountain Star 2 for possible spring summer camps. I was camped on Sheffield Pike earlier in the year, similar spot to where you’re pitched, great spot. I use the DJi Osmo action 3 paired with a Ulanzi video light for night time recording, I have the iso set to 3200 and shutter 1/60, I shoot all my videos at 30fps. My videos are pretty much noise free with those settings. 👍⛺️ ATB Small Feet Pete
Cracking video bud. Thought you got rid of that tent? I’m after one too. It’s funny you mentioned your adding a theme and trying to be creative and not just do a wild camp video. I’ve had a few times this past month where I could have gone out but my head was blank on how to make it interesting so I just stayed at home. ATVB Stevie, catch you soon. Robert
We've got the same tent and same Dji :-) No grain seen here! Cracking camp again just go and enjoy it hey. I'm wondering about starting a channel but it seems like a lot of work and don't know if thinking of the channel would get it the way?....
Have you got the carbon poles for it? I've just got a mountain star with carbon poles (if I'm honest, yet to use it - works been a git) but the weight to strength to size triplet seems really good, looking at t'other people using 'em.
There's quite a few people been complaining about how damp the inside of the groundsheet has been getting now that we're into the colder weather! That's not good!
Just got mine but not been out yet annoyingly! I see one other comment on this video about potential condensation ? Where are you seeing other reports?
Nice to see a genuine video showing genuine wind speed, which the tent coped well. Got the same camera DJI Action 4 it’s done it to me twice now deletes your settings after software update really annoying 😢 hope you get the settings back to what they were. Atb Karl 👍
Action 4 for me (from memory) was Sharpness and noise reduction -2, shutter max 8000 and ISO max 3200, normal colour… probably remembering wrong though. I’m on the Action 5 now so whole new bag of tricks to learn 🤓
Super fain realizat ... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍💯👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤝
Yep tent my Xmas prezzie now deffo 4 season job real review in bad winds what I needed no ps difference between storm star and mountain star as similar prices
30mph gusting upto 50mph? Not high unless a 3 season tent. But some 3 season tents like the Hillberg Anajan 2 I have , would not have issues at 50mph though , but too cold for my liking in winter and ofcourse , not suitable for snow. The Soulo BL wouldnt bat an eyelid, it would be like "Is that all you got?"
Just Google KUIU and then make sure you select the UK store; they have no outlets over here (apparently they only have two physical locations in the US) but the UK web page is shown in GBP and includes the import duty and VAT. I received mine within five days of ordering.
A good test mate , storm star is a solid unit ⛺️👍
The more I see of this tent, the more I'm liking it. Nice to see another upload Stephen. ATB
Glad you like it

Looks a great tent. Thinking of getting something for high winds. Unsure what to go for

God job Stephen. Actually got a storm star wobbling a bit!
cheers dave

Great Vid. I use my gear loft in my storm start for watching videos. Very handy when your in your sleeping bag to keep warm.
Totally agree!
Cracking video mate. The tent looks awesome 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it

Fair play to you mate. Tough conditions. Cracking tent that. New sub from me. Greetings from Ireland ☘️🤙☘️
Thank you! 👍
Love the video , and now looking at a kuiu storm star instead of possibly an allak , how you finding the ten so far ?
All hail the king 👑
Nice video mate, more mileage and ascent on the road to recovery ☺️
Take care,
Adge
Thanks 👍
I’ve followed you from day 1 and you always answer my “stupid “ questions mate and you do keep it real and original.🍺👍
Legend!

Always enjoy your videos fella.
Much appreciated

Same backpack. HMG rocks ! Camera is Osmo3 ?
Keela munro bombproof shells i like that tent so good vid see how does
Atb pal
In that weather all you really need is a Kuiu tent and an Asda sandwich bag.
We've got the same tent and same Dji :-)
No grain seen here!
Cracking camp again just go and enjoy it hey. I'm wondering about starting a channel but it seems like a lot of work and don't know if thinking of the channel would get it the way?....
its alot of effort! depends on the motivation to do it? why not give it a go and see?
Great video. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Where was the storm? Looked like normal conditions for the lakes 🫣

Unless things have changed, they haven't made the carbon pole option available for the Storm Star, just the Mountain Star
Unfortunately not this is the storm star
@@thegeordiewildcamper aye, didn't realise they only did aluminium poles on the storm star. 👍
well, you deffo picked a great day to test sttuff/ looks a wild one.
Thanks 👍
oh, if cats show their bootoms to you, it means they trust you!! its not so horrible for them.
Great video and camp in the bad weather 👍🙂
Thanks 👍
@thegeordiewildcamper 🙂
Can't seem to find featherstone quilts for the UK market 😭 where did you order yours?

On various Facebook wild camping pages.
@@adampankhurst8266 thanks, I'm not on FB. Appreciate the heads up. I'll have to see how I get on with the SStar

I got the Storm Star because of its strength in winds, it's been solid.
Nice vid. What was the quilt again?
This was a Featherstone quilt

Great tent if only they did one in green or brown.
Mine is brown, great for UK and high winds.
They do!!!

Wondering if it’s you that brings bad weather 🤔😂
hahahaha probably
