that frog mouth helm wasn't really a battle field armament it was a jousting helmet for maximum protection, which is why the helmet was typically bolted on...…… ….Talking about nerd stuff no one asked for
EDIT * He fixed it * these helmets were exclusively used in tournaments to shield the eyes from fragments of broken lances. it's completely confusing to imagine anyone using this type of armor outside of jousting. the reason it looks so weird, is because its intended use requires the rider to lean forward so that they could see what they were doing and then sit upright as close to the moment of impact as possible in order to shield the face from possible wooden lance fragments from getting into the eyes of those upper class soliders. Soooo.... how many sword bois be metal heads too? I feel there must be a certain amount of overlap just based on the fantasy art prevalent on album art for years. This band is fucking amazing. Weird, sometimes bad cover art? Check. Songs about drinking and driving and skull fucking? Check. Some of the craziest riffs and bass playing you'll find in heavy metal? Fucking check. I once heard them described as "Deadbeat dad metal", and I think that's perfect. They do what they want, don't care about not releasing more than 3 albums in almost 40 years, and play shows when they damn well feel like it. Speaking of their live shows, holy shit they're fun. They aren't the tightest band, they're actually kind of sloppy, but they put on a wicked fun show that you'll be pressed to find elsewhere. Also their bass player's nickname is The Wizard for fuck's sake (he's also in a couple of Troma movies). Brocas Helm rules.
Can you do a video on metal bands from New Jersey? Our metal scene isn't great, but we have quite a few diamonds in the rough that deserve to be known. Plus some of them have a heavy punk influence, and I know how you love making fun of punk.
