I don't know how anyone could not consider Black Sabbath Doom Metal. When it comes to Traditional Doom, damn near every band sounds like Black Sabbath even down to the guitar tunes and that applies for newer bands today. They still play with the Ionni 70's guitar tune. If the other bands don't sound like Black Sabbath, they often sound like Pentagram did in the 70's and everything I said about Black Sabbath style applies to the Pentagram styled bands. They really stuck to their roots and it's very easy to trace this style back to both bands.
Here's my answer: traditional/stoner/psychedelic doom metal is not doom metal. Or death/gothic/funeral doom is not doom metal. These two groups should not share the same name and the bloodshed would stop.

They took doom, goth, thrash, hardcore punk, psychadelic, ambient, and all sorts of other shit and made something truly beautiful with the result. Surprised about Type O Negative's absence, they were green in a different way... part gothic, part hardcore, part psychedelic, part industrial but World Coming Down is one of dooms more scariest, personal, most crushing outputs for the genre. [EDIT] Would love you to do episodes dedicated to Folk, Industrial, Avantgarde, Electronic/Ambient and Gothic, as these are uniquely more aesthetic attachments that can be flexible towards any musical genre.

You forgot Grief, Asunder and Thergothon as major contributors but otherwise accurate. Hell is blackened doom which wasn't touched on but is worth noting that doom fuses with a lot of metal genres. I'd also recommend Noothgrush and Meth Drinker on the sludge side, Aldebaran and Ramesses on the doom side.
While not exactly Doom Metal, the earliest example of Doom music theory I can think of is the song I Want You/She's So Heavy by the Beatles. Give it a listen. Specially in the later half of the song (She's So Heavy), the Doom element is pretty prevalent. Especially in the bass line.
I really like that you mentioned Crowbar and Acid Bath. I live an hour south of New Orleans. I'm from the same town as a couple of the Acid Bath members and a distant cousin of Sammy Duet...I wish you would have mentioned Shrum. That was another project of Audie Pitre (bass player of Acid Bath) and Tommy Viator (drummer Disincarnate). Please check out Shrum. There's no other band in this world like them. It's 2 distorted bass guitars (no 6 strings guitars whatsoever), keyboards and industrial drums.
I just checked them, awesome and unique. Love all kinds of not-that typical sludge bands like Floor and Torche (melodies! vocals!), Fudge Tunel (grunge/aphetamine reptile noise rock mixed with sludge!), Buzzoven (fast noise punk!), Drug Honkey (noise and weird samples), Burning Witch (vocals!), Adolf Satan (nooooise), maybe even Halo (sludge core version of godflesh I guess) and Suma or two polish bands which are not-that-sludge-but-somehow-sludge-noise-punk things: Smar SW "Samobojstwo" and Filth of mankind. Such a great variety, not clones of clones of Eyehategod or Grief, whereas most of stoner doom bands sound exactly the same.
I really like these videos. I've seen two of them but i dont want to continue. It makes me so happy to watch them and if see them all i will not be able to be happy ever again. I understand these doom metal dudes.

I developed scleroderma a few years back. I get ulcers on my fingers that when they heal after 6 months or so - reform the shape of my finger and leave scar tissue and eat away at them. I had bad ones on my fretting hands index finger and middle finger. Iommi and Django and a few others are what kept me playing. Playing kept me sane. I realized I could still riff well in drop tunings and relearned how I used my finger tips and got lighter string gauges. It has actually helped me develop more skill and a new style of playing for myself. I don't listen to alot of Iommis stuff but when I'm feeling lost or limited I check out obscure Sabbath riffs and it melts away the self pity. It's funny how necessity breeds innovation sometimes.

Man I was looking a pretty decent time for a video about doom like this. I'm getting into a genre, because I need something new and heavy, I'm more a death/progressive kind of guy but I'm looking for something more heavy and fresh (or rotten lol). And I think that doom will become my new addiction. I loved the mention and the comparison of the lyrics in a different genres and doom. I think that so far the funeral doom is one of my favorite sub-genre, so I wouldn't be mad if you would also make a full video about it. Have a whole load of subscribers and stay doomed!

Love all kinds of not-that typical sludge bands like Floor and Torche (melodies! vocals!), Fudge Tunel (grunge/aphetamine reptile noise rock mixed with sludge!), Buzzoven (fast noise punk!), Drug Honkey (noise and weird samples), Burning Witch (vocals!), Adolf Satan (nooooise), maybe even Halo (sludge core version of godflesh I guess) and Suma or two polish bands which are not-that-sludge-but-somehow-sludge-noise-punk things: Smar SW "Samobojstwo" and Filth of mankind. Such a great variety, not clones of clones of Eyehategod or Grief, whereas most of stoner doom bands sound exactly the same.

I developed scleroderma a few years back. I get ulcers on my fingers that when they heal after 6 months or so - reform the shape of my finger and leave scar tissue and eat away at them. I had bad ones on my fretting hands index finger and middle finger. Iommi and Django and a few others are what kept me playing. Playing kept me sane. I realized I could still riff well in drop tunings and relearned how I used my finger tips and got lighter string gauges. It has actually helped me develop more skill and a new style of playing for myself. I don't listen to alot of Iommis stuff but when I'm feeling lost or limited I check out obscure Sabbath riffs and it melts away the self pity. It's funny how necessity breeds innovation sometimes.

Their first album Living Waters features my friend Robert Lowe (Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass) on guest vocals. Hails of Doom brother Goniloc....
True words. Basically the whole Hellhound (label) universe (Wretched, Obsessed, Unorthodox, Count Raven) is being omitted here. Otherwise good video, can't get much more entertaining without the music and without a face.

Man I was looking a pretty decent time for a video about doom like this. I'm getting into a genre, because I need something new and heavy, I'm more a death/progressive kind of guy but I'm looking for something more heavy and fresh (or rotten lol). And I think that doom will become my new addiction. I loved the mention and the comparison of the lyrics in a different genres and doom. I think that so far the funeral doom is one of my favorite sub-genre, so I wouldn't be mad if you would also make a full video about it. Have a whole load of subscribers and stay doomed!
