So I picked up this Ruger Security 380 and brought it home. The wife mentioned that when she first got her S&W Shield 2.0 9mm it was a little hard for her to rack the slide. The day I bought the 380 we went back to the range and she shot the 380. She wasn’t as accurate as she wanted to be. I suggested that she shoot her S&W. 9mm. She actually got more accurate hits with the 9mm than the 380. The only thing we could think was the 9mm had a single stack and the 380 was a double stack grip. She is sticking with the 9mm and is still happy with its performance. Yes I kept the 380 and carry it when concealment needs to be more of a priority.
Yeah usually caliber doesn’t matter it how the gun fits the person. My wife is lights out with a 97B 45acp but can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a full sized Sig AXG Pro 9mm. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I agree with another commenter here that stated the feed issues were likely related to a faulty mag, that being the 10 round mag. It keeps (kept) occurring on #3 or #4 on that 10 round mag.
Yeah normally consistency proves where the fault is. And since it didn’t happen with some of the mags it might prove that to be true. Thanks for watching!
If Ruger offered a +P version and get some magazines available, I would be extremely happy. I read there is no standard for 380+P so manufacturers cant rate anything for +P, who knows? A threaded barrel would be nice too, since .380 is a subsonic round, it would be perfect. Its my 1st 380, and its a joy to shoot. I picked one up on sale under 299. and I am glad I did. The S&W Sheild EZ rack version of this, is almost double the money and only holds 8 rounds, being a single stack. I bet some other ammo, and oiling the gun would probably stop their weird intermittent feed problem. (That is, if it is not the 10round magazine's fault.) Like they said the 15 round mag never did it. That kinda points the problem out, right there. Good to hear 2 different shooters opinions here on the video. Like they said, its extremely easy and comfortable to shoot, and keep on target. After holding a Ruger LCP I knew it didn't feel very comfortable, but its so tiny its easy to put in a pocket. Also unless you practice a lot with an LCP most folks aren't very accurate, because of its tiny size, and lack of comfort. I really doubt most folks could hit that target very well at 48 ft with a LCP. These are 2 completely different guns to me. Just my opinion.
People want budget guns so adding threaded barrels and rating for plus P etc just isn’t in the budget friendly range lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
What's up guys! I took my wife to the gun shop today because she wants a carry gun that is .380 cal opposed to 9mm. She has a Taurus G3C 9mm already, so we went to look at some .380's. We didn't shoot any but she held a S&W EZ 380, and a SIg P365 380 and she really likes the Sig and how small it is for CC considering she's 5'3 and petite. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Ruger Security 380 because most of the guns were at the gun show in Lawrenceville. But she liked how easy the Sig was to rack and I let her know the Ruger is super easy to rack. But just based on video alone she seems to think the Ruger will be too big for CC. Her main reason for wanting a .380 is recoil and easier racking. I'm going to try to get to a range where she can shoot both, but I tend to think the Sig P365 is going to have more recoil considering its size. She's going to have to make a decision at some point on whether she wants the smaller gun or the lighter recoil. Since the Ruger is half the price of the Sig I'm hoping for lighter recoil, lmao. Great job on the video guys, you're always informative and funny.
Surprisingly the 365 .380 is very controllable with recoil. I was shocked and it’s very accurate again surprisingly because I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with the 9mm 365. However, the racking and recoil of the Ruger is likely 40% or better lighter and easier and more accurate than the 365. However it is significantly bigger admittedly
@@GSquaredTactical , Thanks for your opinion on both guns. When we hit the range in a couple of weeks and if she likes both I may just get both for her. With fall and winter coming she can conceal the Ruger easily enough with heavier and longer clothes. She can also use the Ruger for home defense and use the 365 in the spring and summer when she's wearing lighter clothes. But we'll see if she likes both or either one for that matter on our next range outing. Again, thanks guys for the insights. And I do subscribe btw.
I own the sig, and I love it. The Ruger is inexpensive, and the best deal for the money, plus it is easier to rack. The advantages of the Sig are that: It will take a Holosun 407k, Wilson Combat grips are inexpensive and are a big help, the sig takes the 10 and 12 round 380 mags, the 365 15 and 17-round 9mm mags will work in the 380 with 380 ammo, all three 365 grip sizes fit on the 380, the sig is very accurate at 12 yards and very fast, and Wilson combat grips also takes WC weights if you want to increase the weight of the gun (3oz, and I installed them in mine). After a few hundred rounds, the sig gets easier to rack. Finally, the sig is one of the most fun guns to shoot that I have ever fired. Maybe because the springs are stiffer, it has never had a malfunction (after the first 50 rounds of questionable quality ammo). It also likes some of the spicier self defense ammo. Sig makes a short-barrel 380 self defense round that is very accurate. And the sig is easy to carry and conceal. I think that both are good guns and excellent for concealed carry. I went with the Sig because I already had a 365 XL, and in addition I wanted to put a Holosun on my 380.
Arrived here after testing one (almost new/200 rds in it). It failed spectacularly!! 1) Countless ftf (I was slamming the mag and slide almost every shot). 2) 3X light strikes. 3) Anything over 8rds on the 15 mag and it would not feed. Range master said these are common issues with many owners. Just removed it form my shopping cart.

@@mossyoak1957 I think your going to like it, took mine to the range yesterday, loved it, low recoil, accurate and no problems. Fired 300 rounds no issues at all was very impressed.
It was not it was shot straight from the box, and the reason that UA-camrs do that is because for some reason the majority of the public watching wants to know how the performance is right out of the box. So in, as if they were to buy it at the gun store and the gun store had a range and they wanted to take it straight back to the range and shoot it would it perform. I would say 95 to 98% of the time most of the ones that we take directly from the box without cleaning or oiling performed flawlessly without issue. There are very few times that not cleaning or oiling causes a problem. Typically the manufacture has greased the slide, rails and areas that most commonly need to be oiled and very rarely do we find internally, dirty, firearm, straight from the manufacture. as far as did cleaning it up, make it better. I can’t really speak to that because we sold the firearm after doing the review but the person I sold it to has reached out to me and asked if we had any issues with it reliably feeding and I said a couple yes but he has said that now that he is in about six or 700 that it has begun to be completely reliable. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
I bought this gun for my wife, we started out with Fiocchi ammo, The gun refused to run the ammo,, would not chamber and jammed almost every round, tried different brand of ammo, and it runs perfect every time, try a different ammo
We only had the occasional issue for the most part it ran just fine. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Fiocchi 380 is actually out of SAMMI spec. The brass has a thicker rim which gives it less room between the breech face and extractor groove. About half of my 380's will choke on this ammo and why I won't buy it any longer.
I think it may be a combo of new stiff mag spring and the recoil spring. The one I tested has a ftf almost every other round and the slide felt sluggish as hell. I hope they improve it, because I loved when it worked.
Good video so far. You could put your glasses on. Understand looking at a black target. Someone said that not going back into battery may result in an under polished speed ramp. They said that helped cure their problem. That possibly may be in that new break-in period. Otherwise good gun. I am waiting for mine. Can't wait till I get it.
I'm getting a slide lockback with loaded mag and it's not locking on empty mag ....brass and nickel case ammo from all major manufacturers including underwood ...
The safety is like that so you don’t accidentally engage it while shooting it an like most the comments say u just need to clean it before shooting out the box
@@GSquaredTactical good to know. The jhp runs good it's just the Fmj that hangs. Gentlemen told me to try the flat tip rounds. Tuesday my range day. Let you know

To me this gun is great; however, I don’t recommend for carry due the fact Ruger declined to design this firearm for +P ammo. In my opinion .380 really needs this extra power to get the hollow points to expand. This is my only disappointment in this gun. Other than that I really love it for the range.

Absolutely it does. The lighter spring certainly makes it easy to rack, but it also in my opinion causes some erratic issues with feeding. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
A lot of our reason is to test function. Sometimes availability of expensive ammo is not at everyone’s disposal so we try to test all kinds. If you pay a lot of money for a gun it should perform
I was excited about the new Beretta x80 also until I saw the price. I handled one they are nice but on the heavy side for a .380 I just bought a Ruger Security .380 for my fly fishing/Kayaking gun it is very well built for the price. Fits my needs, high cap./light weight and with the 15 round mag it feels like a full size pistol in my hand. I was impressed with everything about it even the steel rear sight, heck the 600.00 Glock 45 I just sold had a cheep plastic rear sight.
Ok…I had given up on mine after 300 rounds. I took all my mags cleaned them, loaded them and left the. Next I polished the feeder ramp and the barrel. Waited 2 weeks and it worked flawlessly with ball ammo. In 380,don’t expect much expansion,it’s simply not going to happen. I used Fiocchi which is a bit hotter,as most euro ammo tends to be. I had only one failure to go into battery.
Apparently this new gun might have some issues. This pistol obviously made for women and old folks. No denying it. Sorry ladies we love you. And there are a lot more men practicing at the range than women.. So dude, if you’re practicing with your lady focus on self-defense clearing of malfunction. The tried and true tap & rack They need to know how to clear it. Not in a administrative type manner but in a self defense situation. That’s my two cents worth

Some handguns gun can't run the ammo (LCP for one). But my Ruger Security 380 and Bersa 380cc can, NO Malfunctions

380's aren't inaccurate, you are. I have the Security 380 in my arsenal. Great gun for the price, better than most guns I've spent twice the money on TBH.
I have a 10-150 yard targeted range at my home, I can easily hit 50 yards with the Security 380, honestly It's more accurate at 50 yards than my Glock 19.
You guys are just a little misinformed and biased towards the 380. I'd challenge either of you at a range match 5 - 75 yards, me with a 380 vs your choice of pistol. You wouldn't be the first guys I made eat crow about the 380 lol.
I would wear that tail out with a Canik Rival dude, not even close lol. Misinformed and biased not at all, just not a fan. Everyone has there own opinions, just like you do thinking your the John Wick of the 380 world #stayinformed

Armscor ammo is garbage
You need to check out the hogue beavertail slide on grips. They're very reasonable for like 12 bucks. 13 bucks needs to work when I bought them and they make that grip feel magnificent. I got bigger hands and I like them a lot

Occasional +p won't hurt anything...there are saami specs for +p but not +p+
I've run +p on my lcp max. The back blast wasn't fun, but it works.
Yeah it will be fine
Let us know what you decide and how she likes it. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Alway get both lol
I carry 380 a lot and I have never found one I love past 5 to 10 yards in accuracy for me personally

2) 3X light strikes.
3) Anything over 8rds on the 15 mag and it would not feed.

@@mossyoak1957 I think your going to like it, took mine to the range yesterday, loved it, low recoil, accurate and no problems. Fired 300 rounds no issues at all was very impressed.
Was the gun field stripped and oiled before shooting. So many UA-camrs take gun outa box and don't do this and and have failure to feeds on new guns
We did not know this but I’ve never been a fan of the brand and now I know why.

Could your problem with failure to feed be due to the light rack of the firearm?
Certainly a possibility, this new series may have some kinks to be worked out like most new things in todays world
Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I think it may be a combo of new stiff mag spring and the recoil spring. The one I tested has a ftf almost every other round and the slide felt sluggish as hell.
I hope they improve it, because I loved when it worked.
Good video so far. You could put your glasses on. Understand looking at a black target. Someone said that not going back into battery may result in an under polished speed ramp. They said that helped cure their problem. That possibly may be in that new break-in period. Otherwise good gun. I am waiting for mine. Can't wait till I get it.

To me this gun is great; however, I don’t recommend for carry due the fact Ruger declined to design this firearm for +P ammo. why do people do these test with crap ammo
A lot of our reason is to test function. Sometimes availability of expensive ammo is not at everyone’s disposal so we try to test all kinds. If you pay a lot of money for a gun it should perform
