Let's not fool ourselves, we all were waiting to hear the commentary regarding that one particular part of the song. Lol
lmao
Lol 😂
You are so right. Lmao
I only clicked to see if he was gonna do it!! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
And he did NOT give it to us haha
I love Tina Turner’s voice. It’s like listening to the earth: it shakes, it’s volcanic, and it runs deep and mountain high!
You are a writer. Your definition is both precise in description AND poetic in word choice. I know because I'm an avid reader and writing is my first love.
Tina could have sung the phone book and sounded sensational!
Steve Perry is awesome. What a terrific voice.❤
Oh! HANDS DOWN!!! I'm a mezzo Soprano and the songs he sings are so easy for me to cover in the same key he does because our ranges are very similar. He is absolutely one of my personal favorite parts about the second half of the ad lib singers. Same with Kenny and Daryl.
Fun fact...they recorded most of this in one night. But after listening to it, Quincy called Stevie, Ray Charles and James Ingram back to add a little flavor.
James Ingram voice is incredible
James Ingram is the TRUTH!
Flava
If you watch the making of this video, it's very interesting, I think Bob Dylan came back in as well.
@@lichi1244eva YES!!! Love his Mr James Ingrams voice!!! QJ has an EXCELLENT EAR TALENT for MUSIC!! Legendary!! 🎶❤️✊🏾😁
I feel like you could never make this today. Well probably never get this many legendary ppl on this level in a studio at one time again
There is no equivalent for this level of talent, not by a mile.
sad and true
You absolutely could
In the moment, you never know who will become legendary, and who culture will largely forget.
No. This was a generational event.
MJ's sound is so impeccable and pure, Bruce Springsteen (like oh my) just brings something really powerful, deep and special and Stevie has this purity in his sound too wow 🤩
As a kid, I hated Bruce's part, but now I recognize that he's a standout among the rest.
The Boss is my guy…I love the way he sings
He brings so much depth and vulnerability, idk, I feel touched by his expression of the song.
I love Bruce soooo handsome
Michael has a voice of an angel.
Stevie can SANG. Always loved Kenny Loggins voice too, underrated singer
Kenny Loggins and Shanice have two songs together and it’s sooo good!
Totally agree about Kenny Loggins. He and Darryl Hall are two of my favorite 'white soul' singers 💙💙
Kenny Loggins ain't no joke
I agree 💯
Kenny’s NEVER EVER UNDERRATED 🫤🎶❤️🥰✊🏾
Dionne Warwick walked so Whitney could run… CRAZY tone!
she is still alive
That’s what I thought, that lady sounds like Whitney Houston….I guess it’s the other way around
Whitney's 1st album came out just weeks after this. but actually their mom's were in a group that sang backup for Elvis
Cyndi Lauper came in last minute as a new artist totally intimidated by legends and still managed to create a fantastic climax.
People like to hate on her for taking multiple attempts to figure it out but she was ad lipping and brainstorming. Mistakes are how we learn
Yes!
😂
@@arose9871your inability to argue is huge
CYNDI WAS THE KATY PERRY OF THE 80'S CHILE 😅
@@21thalegend71That’s demonstrably false. Everyone from Mariah Carey to Patti Labele praised her. Listen to songs like I’m Gonna Be Strong. Her belting range is insane and she’s one of the most underrated singers of her generation.
Did you know the Pointer Sisters were tearing up the background vocals, holding down the soprano section. Back there just hollering. 😂😊😊
God bless you for noticing it. Their voice resonated in the background, giving the soprano full scale.
Watching this video had me emotional. I really miss these days when it comes to music and Artistry.
Its so beautiful. I miss Michael so much. 😢
Dionne and Willie both showed the essence of what made them famous in each of their lines ! Both signature vocals!
Why was i just LITERALLY watching the outtakes when Michael got annoyed!!
Man's looked like he wanted to quit on the spot😂😂
Clip link?
@@r.fernandez2481Google we are the world Michael Jackson annoyed😂😂😂😂😂😂
But he wasn't.
@@blpalv15nahh he was
There are the obvious great voices, but 2 of my favorites are Cyndi Lauper and Steve Perry, I absolutely love Steve Perry’s voice
Steve Perry nailed it.
A mí también, es prodigioso. Y además no tenía un fallo nunca
Darryl's follow up to Perry's part was perfect. Huey stomped it as well.
Dionne was classy, yet intense when she came in!
Mike, Stevie, and Ray always seemed like they were making a different record. Those brothers right there. Cyndi was one of my favorite parts growing up. She turned up. Now I, also, appreciate the greatness of Kenny Loggins
Cyndi's part was your favorite?🤣😭😆
@@arose9871Cyndi was so energetic and fun! She was one of my favorites too!
@@periwinklepeach7 😭😭😭
@@arose9871 oh come on Cyndi's part is great!
@@arose9871Cyndi is a legitimately great vocalist. Everyone from Patti Labelle to Little Richard praised her
This legit one of my favorite songs. The Stevie and Bruce combo will forever be amazing
Forever❤
It shows the dexterity of Quincy Jones to put the parts together, though recorded differently and for different segment.
We will NEVER see this much talent in a song again….this was brilliantly done!!!
This talent doesn’t exist in the age of autotune
@@arios1977 EXACTLY
This still blows my mind. I was in 10th grade when this song came out (and now I'm a grandmother). Wow. Thanks for the memories and wonderful analysis, Jaron!
The joy on your face for Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder was so enjoyable ☺️☺️☺️
A very classic moment of famous people coming together for a cause. Quincy did a great job producing all of the disparate voices and sounds
I think Steve Perry knows exactly how to sing it may be the greatest male vocalist ever
I agree, hes probably my favorite singer out of all these guys/gals, just my preference 👍🏼 his voice waa described by the arranger as "electric" in deciding where to put him in the lineup
I think also he crushed it in the first or second take 👌🏼 same with Daryl Hall, both were on point
@@sbentsen2714 Also a guy who never got the credit he deserves is Kenny Loggins who really stood out in this beautiful song
Totalmente sí
One thing I really enjoy about this song is that the singers more or less stayed true to their individual style. If you’re a 70s/80s music fan, each of these voices are immediately recognizable. And together they made something quite beautiful.
People criticize Diana for not being the powerhouse that Patti and Aretha could be, but to stay that pure in your voice and stable is no easy feat. The Motown greats always had the tools to be great.
She has great phrasing
Yaass it’s DivaTalks 😭❤️❤️❤️
@@BozeDoesGodsWorkthank you ha😂
Mhm! Diana’s phrasing and the way she emotes is absolutely wonderful.
@@Got2bevelvet And she has a great tone
I always love watching Bob Dylan in the video 😂
Lol, Dylan part would crack me up.
Cyndi Lauper vocals are pure magic. The climax of the song.
It's crazy that I can hear The Pointer Sisters sing over everyone when they're singing together!
Never noticed - what?!? Thanks 👍😇
Wasn’t just me !
I noticed it once I heard the chorus. Their voices resonated and towered over others, giving a perfect blend to the whole chorus. It was pure genius to have selected the Pointers for the chorus part.
They roped us in with the sangers, and threw the riff raff in the middle. 😂
Majority of us was kids and didn't care or pay attention 😂
We were glad to see our favorite singers all in one room, video and singing together.
And it was for a good cause.
Something you would hardly get these new artist to do know, to much ego.
nearly choked on my falafel lmao you had no right sir
You are right. I can't stand this song.
Wait who are the riff raffs?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀
This was definitely part of my childhood.
Would listen to this song over and over.
It was for a good cause and showed a time when America had some unity, wasn't so divided like it is now.
Some singers have passed away
R.I.P Tina Tuner, Ray Charles, 2 of the Pointer Sisters, Kenny Rogers, Al Jarreau, Paul
Mc Cartneys wife Linda, Harry Belafonte and etc
Can't forget about the King of Pop himself. RIP Michael Jackson. ❤
America was never united. You are delusional if you ever thought it was 😂😂🤣🤣
Yep, Ms. Dionne part directed the start of change in the flow and coarse of the song. Glad you noticed "the "Dionne" thing that she does, lol❤.These awesome singers will never be again! They aren't as
pure, powerful, and authentic like they use to.
Diana Ross is always a vibe for me. She came in clean here. That phrasing is legendary.
Quincy is a masterful producer. To have this many singers and saaaangers on one record while still preserving melody and giving space for the song to breathe….. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 standing O
Quincy is a musical genius. His type are very rare; they come once in a century.
It's very interesting to see the rehearsals, Michael is brilliant
I remember when this debuted 💜 The late great Ray Charles reminds me so much of my late father. Thanks as always Jaron
Kenny Loggins did what he had to do! That lil part sent me down a rabbit hole!
Please analyze Black Men United's "U Will Know."
Yeeesss!!! I love that song.
To this, I would also add Freedom from the Panther soundtrack. Those ladies were killing it, and I personally feel that song is underrated.
YES please! I get chills from tht song
You are the only voice coach on UA-cam that I would watch your entire analysis without skipping through just to see your reaction ❤
Yeah that guy that sang “makaan” (making) is one of the best male vocals I’ve heard during my entire lifetime…Steve Perry. What a gift!!! Of course Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper really bring a lot of life and color to this song. ❤️
Love Steve Perry .
I can listen to old school Journey songs led by Steve Perry all day...his range is ridiculous. "Open Arms", "Faithfully", and "Separate Ways" are some of my faves.
Steve Perry had some PIPES!! Phenomenal singer!!
The best!!!!
@@mrspgrew LOVE forever
I really love Cyndi's part. It's simply amazing!
young man you did an absolutely phenomenal job analyzing the singers. i know nothing about singing, but you made it like "talking shop" and very enjoyable
After all these years this performance still makes me cry
Bro, ur true voice instructor, u must be a gift to u cause ur explaining each of their voices pretty well
I fast forwarded to be messy…rewinding now 😂
😂😂😂
I remember my dad telling me that his favorite part is Cyndi Lauper's part.
It’s iconic
I'm loving the MJ content ❤❤
I'd love to see an analysis for any of Tina Turner's songs
Let's take a moment and appreciate The Boss, Diana Ross. I love how she came in on this song. The tone of her voice was so good.
Someone mentioned doing an analysis on Black Men United singing You Will Know, could you also do Freedom from the Panther soundtrack?
Ooooooh and let's not overlook Sounds of Blackness "Optimistic". The 80s and 90s have us some gems.
Freedom is my sonngggg❤❤❤❤❤
This is such a simple thing, but you made me realize that this song goes from gentle to exploding. I didn't think about it.... So it started off as a simple whisper and became a wall of sound. I never thought about that....Thank you.
Classic Bruce Springsteen! Just in awe of everyone. Showcased the many talented singers! Played this song non stop and watch the video constantly when it came out!!!
This song ALWAYS makes me emotional...and the moment after the bridge when the choir starts....it just doesnt get better❤😭
Thank you for analyzing!
I miss Michael Jackson😢
There will never be another era like that. So great performers. So much talent! Can you analyze Black Men United (B.M.U) song, "You Will Know?"
Yes! I hope he does it. That's a great song!
Yes, love that song
I would also add Freedom from the Panther soundtrack. Those ladies were killing it, and I personally feel that song is underrated.
Mr Ray Charles just gives me chills. There's something spiritual about his presence
Yes!!!
Absolutely.
Bruce and stevie always gives me chills❤
I love every second of this song. Bruce and Stevie really bring it at the end.
Sucha classic and legendary moment in musical history. I miss this era so much :(
Thank you for doing this. You're a wonderful singer. Will always love MJ and DR.
Wow...I learned about a billion things about singing from you in less than 20 minutes...you just blew my mind...incredible talent!
You just know Michael was side-eyeing Cindy Lauper's section. 😂
Jaron!!! I've been waiting for you to do this song!! The "other guy" is The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Lol But there will probably NEVER be another moment like this in history ever!! So much talent in one room.
Yeah I didn't like referring to people as "that guy". These people were titans. Steve Perry, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen
I wondered if he knew who Bruce Springsteen was! 😊I came here to say the same thing.
I watched the documentary on this and Bob Dylan felt really out of place until Stevie coached him on his part. Dylan as one of the last voices is so key....definitely a nod to "the answer my friend is blowing in the wind"
Wasn’t that AWESOME!! Stevie did a Dylan impression to Dylan!!
Yup! Saw that! It was great!
Michael was just a Natural flawless
I love ❤️ how James Ingram’s voice has a soaring quality to it.
His vowels were so rich and rounded here. Very buttery
There is a funny story about how Dan Aykroyd ended up participating. He went to the studio looking for someone and ended up going into the wrong office, which happened to be the office of the producer of this and he asked Dan if he wanted to participate since he was there anyways and Dan said yes. And there he is in the back next to Harry Belafonte.
I had forgotten how great everyone sang on this one. Of course MJ is perfection. His voice always sounded amazing.
You remind me of my speech teacher I had as a young boy who had a speech impediment and was a constant stutter. You are great! The song and you brought back very happy memories. Thank you!
You took the words out of my mouth ( this song is a phenomenal classic and it has a gospel tone. Thank you (Brother Jaron for presenting this anointed song ). Blessings, my Brother
Please can you feature the anionted
( Evangelist Beverly Crawford ) Thank you ( Brother Jaron )...
Iconic Queen Diana Ross soft voice ❤
I really appreciate this great exercise in this video. A lot of thanks for sharing your knowledge with us about voice teaching.
I just stumbled upon this vocal analysis of one of the most important songs of the 1980s, --and of my teenage years.
Your observations are very estute, and your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you! And you have great pipes yourself.
I just subscribed.
This is a great moment in time to cherish.. definitely a tear jerker hearing all those beautiful and different voices and how they are worked together. Also to see the ones who are no longer here with us. Took me right back to my childhood quick! I agree with some of the comments.. analyzing BMU ‘You Will Know’ would be amazing! Seeing The Pointer Sisters I think it would be dope to analyze ‘You Gotta Believe’!!!
These are all masters of their craft. No electronic shortcuts. Just masters of their craft.
EXCELLENT breakdown of the vocals! BRAVO!
The part you’re looking for is here 6:32
Michael wanted Prince to do the song.
Prince would have walked out the room after he heard Cyndi Lauper😂
@@mlynettepinky595Michael actually stopped swaying if you watched the making of this video. She had to practice it a lot of times. You can tell it was irritating the hell out of Michael. I love the finished product though
@@mlynettepinky595 nah Prince was a great fan of Cyndi, Prince didn't join because he thought the song was s**t
You’re all sheep. Just because social media created drama. MJ had practiced his parts previously. Cyndi flew in with no preparation and came up with ideas in real time to figure out the best climax. Which she did in the end
@@divatalk9011EXACTLY!!! People out here making something out of literally nothing. Goes to show the power of editing and context… or lack there of.
Love Dionne Warwick's part ...
That "other guy" that you refer to at the end of the song with Stevie Wonder is BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!!
Cut her some slack, she's not from Bruce's era. (Although if Ella Fitgerald were up there I'm sure she'd say "Ella's bringin it"!)🤭
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG AND SINGERS.BUTT BABY WHEN RAY AND STEVIE PARTS CAME IN OMG 😳 THE TEARS CAME FLOWING 🤗.
Every part I think “this is my favorite part” … until another part comes along. But the part that always gives me chills is Bruce.
It took Cindy a while to get her part (til she annoyed Michael), but when she did, she was outstanding.
Stevie & Bruce were incredible together and Ray gave me chills. I like that Bob Dylan came in to bring a touch of a generation prior. Cyndi brought a different style. Micheal Jackson was the king & w/ Lionel wrote this masterpiece. Quincy made sure all the egos were left at the door.
Waylen Jennings walked out & Prince never showed. Crazy to bring that talent after the music awards to a special location all night.
I would love to see you do the We Are The Word Haiti version the vocals are much different lol
Dionne’s tone is like butter.
Loved this! You’re awesome.
I've heard this song a million times in my life, you have given it a new and great perspective. It was such a historical phenomenon that these incredible artist donated portions of their performance ability to a larger song. I was a fan of most of them at the time and was tickled when it was on the charts.
I love Mj parts & Cyndi Loper they killed it! I love this song so much we need this right now 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 Thank you Jaron 🖤
Analyze MJ "Earth Song"
Or do an analysis of gabriel Henrique cover of earth song. he did a great job with that cover. proabably better than MJ version
@@GuyWhoConquersMain no, cover can be better, unless you change the sound and pace to make it totally different.... that's not a cover that's just copy and paste....
Come on, man, You got to give Bruce Springsteen his props. “The other guy” you referenced that sings with Stevie. Bruce was a MAJOR artist in the 80s! 😂 but then again pretty much everyone on this song were huge artists as you know.
Amazing to see such an in depth analysis by a professional
I absolutely LOVE this video! Love hearing his thoughts on the amazing singers!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE the original. I would be super interested in seeing you analyze the newer one released for Haiti
Steve Perry is probably my favorite singer here in this whole group, phenomenal range and the quality of his voice is just top notch, his own voice 👌🏼💯
Not a huge bruce Springsteen fan but DUDE he brought it here!!! He brought the home run 👏🏼
They realy should've done multiple versions of the song with different soloists. They would've sold even more records if it had been a "got to collect all 4" situation.
New subscribers here! Just wanted to say this is one of the best break down reactions to this song! Thank you for that!!!
I will never tire of this song. All time favorite
Everyone involved brought their own unique sound to the recording. Blended all together, it works. Awesome song, Awesome artists & definitely a special song of my generation no matter how many try to tear certain sections down almost 40 years later. ❤
I love that picture of Karen clark sheard behind you
Okay Jaron, so how are you gonna just have me over here with the FLOOD GATES OPEN!! Chile, I thought about my life as a 12.5 yr. old when this song was released. I didn't have much, but I was blessed to have the basic necessities. I truly had nothing to complain about and yet children in Africa, specifically Ethiopia, were dying from starvation. I didn't fully understand the magnitude of this song at that time because I was a child. Listening to it now, and understanding the meaning behind it's inception, moved me to tears. I'm so thankful this project was successful and things are much better today because of it.
My gift is also voice, and I even have a few "cradle" friends who are well-known artists, producers, and songwriters in the music industry. It's such a pleasure watching your critiques of many different artists and genres of music. Please keep doing what you're doing- YOU ARE THE G.O.A.T.!! 💝💝🙏🏾🙏🏾💝💝
"The other guy"😂 Geez that is the boss Bruce Springsteen
😭 I didn’t mean no harm. I was just trying to get my thought out before it left. Haha 🙈
Relax. He did not call everyone by their name…smh. You act like he skipped his name on purpose.
Love You Channel ❤️
This song always has me holding back tears. So beautiful from start to finish. The talent!!! Thanks for the analysis Jaron! Would you consider doing both Black Men United “You Will Know” and “Freedom” from the Black Panther soundtrack from the ‘90’s?
Kenny Rogers actually plays a slightly bigger role than just being a guest singer. Several days before the recording occurred, Lionel, Stevie, Michael and Quincy met up at Kenny's recording studio to record basic music and lyric tracks for the participating artists. Kenny had recording engineers, studio musicians and other needed personnel there to help get the project off the ground.
Everyone sang beautifully within their style. Even Bob.😊
