Another thing that baffles me, cuz he brought it up, is in game licensing such as media or in this case car brands. If a company pays anyother to use its brand in their product, that Initial transaction should be it. It blew my mind that rockstar had to update their 15 year old game to remove some music. That needs to change. I would never expect someone to pay me for the rest of their life because they had something I made in their product.
Yeah I always thought it was weird the game company has to pay to then show off their cars, sounds, style, ect... so not only do they can advertisement of their vehicles but they also get paid for them advertising their vehicles.
Racing games aren't just games for people to drive a car but it's also advertising them because there's cars that speak to someone, I myself love the mitsubishi Evo X (from MW ik questionable liking but custom design not blacklist) but these games not only bring people into certain car communities but why bother they'll just get the file after it goes through 9 different hands (Ford v Ferrari reference)
@@updog4LNot only that, the customization on CarX is better than I have ever seen in ANY car game. I was actually flabbergasted cause I didn’t even know you can use the actual real life model of the car as long as it doesn’t have its official branding/badges. Surprised more devs haven’t done it but maybe CarX is just so good at it.
Not only cars in media make me like them but also music. I am a huge fan of Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold and Celldweller since I played Most Wanted and made them tons of money with merch and concert visits. It's free advertising for them and if there has to be a license fee at all it would have to be an infinite one and not one that can expire. Game preservation is non-negotiable!
@@luckaswolf You are right and it should at least be listed on Steam since many more people would be able to still play it and would be willing to pay for it still.
I find this licensing deals so bullshit, they only apply rules like this to games, because THEY CAN. They insert a music piece in a movie, or a car brand, it's fine 30 years later on.
Nah, licencing is a reason to delist a game but not to make it unplayable. It's entirely up to ubisoft to shut down servers, release an offline patch, etc.
a lot of the time that's not still not even true with music though. you'll find in a lot of movies and tv shows that later re-releases and streaming releases will have licensed music taken out and replaced with stock music.
It sucks. Maybe they could re brand the cars with fake names, maybe change the look of them ever so slightly and you have your unbranded spoof cars. But I guess that means effort and care. I would totally play this game with fake cars.
I love when they say that we gamers need to start to accept to "not owning our games". MY DUDE, IF I DO NOT OWN MY GAME, then it isn't my game. How am I supose to own something that isn't mine?! Thats why we see a lot of people who only play old games. They were good, offline, and in fact ours.

We need to champion offline content over everything else, we need plenty of things and mods to do with the game, because for always-online games, there will come a time where they will stop functioning for good, not all of us play online, and we just want to enjoy the cars and world with AI opponents endlessly however we like for infinite amounts of replayability no matter where your interests lie, without heavy reliance over online.
I'm happy you're raising awareness about this campaign, we need more racing game creators (or gaming content creators in general) talking about this. We should not let Ubisoft get away again
To be frank, I was a little afraid you weren't going to talk about this because of your association with The Crew Motorfest and Ubisoft, but I am really glad that you did. Your a true saint for promoting this campaign, mate. Cheers.
Well nostalgia aside times are changing as well as media in general gaming specifically is now on a dark path like always online why if you are gonna kill them atleast make them offline before taking down the servers damn what is wrong with publishers and devs in general
Publishers are money hungry but are quick to cut corners or losses in spite of the customer, and Devs “need to eat” meaning they either have no balls and not enough of them are willing to stick up for themselves and others in the industry, they co sign these type of ideas or they are simply just not concerned about the consumer, they make the game cause their boss says so, ship it and could care less outside of that
I learned about your channel thanks to ´The Crew’ and I was even lucky to play with you many years ago on that game! Thank you for supporting the community ❤
Surely developers are pissed with this stuff too. Why would I want to put time and money into making stuff when after a while it becomes lost media at the snap of someone's fingers? At least with other delisted games you can still play them offline.
You really miss something when it's gone...i need those long trips from city to city with the atmosphere, amazing day/night cycle etc.. we need this masterpiece back ASAP.
As a French, I really hope that this massive action will have an impact I'm pretty convinced that the DGCCRF and UFC-Que Choisir will do something, that's on their interest
I'd like to confirm that yes we the French know how to make things done with our government, but we got our own Thatcher ta its helm currently. And they're not really listening at all unless we are a big company. The farmers got nothing, only nestle and other agri-food companies, or last year we got fucked hard even though we were on strike for four months to protect our retirement pensions.
TC was the only exception, but 99% of games that contain third-party content can be accessed anyway regardless of who originally purchased it or not. Not to mention that console games stop being sold regardless of licenses, especially because they no longer manufacture PS2/PS3/X360 games
As a French I can say : OUI ON GUEULE, ON FAIT GRÈVE, OUI ON FAIT CHIER LES ENTREPRISES, ET J'ESPERE QU'ON FERA RÉFLÉCHIR UBISOFT AVEC L'AIDE DU GOUVERNEMENT !!!
Even if the developers themselves have stopped considering their product as a commodity and making a profit from it, then gamers have every right to create unofficial servers.
All i'm gonna say about that is : " All of you should've seen it coming when the developers, back in 2010, adopted the "all online" mentality " That idea was going to turn bad for a multiple reasons. Glad to see the game getting a sort of revival like NFS:World did, it will take time but i certainly want it to succeed 👍
Fun Fact for you Theo: Generally in europe (speaking for italy now), since TC1 got abandoned and revoked from licensing, we are legally allowed to fix the game, fuck the licensing file to make the game think it's licensed anyways, and spread the "new game" and to call it YOUR game, like Counter Strike was a modded Half life, and it's a standalone game. But yeah, the whole game would have to be different (that does NOT include car models or driving physics in this case)
in some way it´s a shame, but you know that the internet starts "preserving games". it´s only a matter of time until you can emulate/ crack everything, especially a game with that mainstream success and that prominent history
Actually it’s not that you can play NFS most wanted it’s because it’s an offline game only. Thats why a lot of the older games you can still play because there’s no services for it
It should be that companies and publishers should lose all access to a title if they ever take it down like that. What I mean is: they forfeit that one title in whatever IP, to the public domain. They can’t shut down mods or fan projects, no more earning cash on it, if they kill it, the public now owns it. The public can’t make “the next version” with the files, but mods and playgrounds are expected and fine. If a project wants to raise money for a project they can, but they can’t take payment for what is in the public domain. So their hours of work can be monetized if they want to, but it’s a free market, as usual. If publishers make new titles based on that same IP, that does not give them any right to open up litigation for their older title. If they killed it, and there are no longer any proper ways of access the content because of server shutdown or other bullshit like it, and aside from purchasing a copy from second hand (Steam does not count and should automatically delist the title or offer to host the original files for free or a nominal fee if needed.) Ramble has amble stupid publisher. You threw it away, it is no longer yours even if you remake it, go cry in your swimming pools of money ya greedy bastards.
One day you will be deleted by the crew… And then your bio is going to say. “Partner with game developer Ubisoft. Black Panthaa was cannon in the 3rd installment of the franchise. Before it got delisted. Now he remained partners with a company that has just delisted the crew 3.” You really want that stain on your name? You have the chance to say this! YOUR IN THE GAME. You need to start making a big deal of this. It’s more than just a petition. Make a video titled “why it’s a shame I’m in the crew” or something do something to get there attention.
This reminded me when NFS World died, EA shut the game down and the community worked hard to have community servers and reanimate it. But in this case Ubisoft demonstrated to be the bigger asshats by making sure most people can't access the game, because making the files completely inaccessible from their launcher is one of the biggest dick moves I've seen.
if i had a racing game like this, i'd make a license-free backup design for each car, music and whatnot in the game, and when the license ran out, i'd replace everything with original fantasy designs, and a custom sound track, just to let the game keep on living. if racing tracks require licenses too, then chop off all that do and include a simple track editor. there
i mean The Crew was the first of its kind its practically a Racing MMO and like all MMOs once they out live their cycle its a no brainer to not waste money and team resources, and it makes even more sense for the crew since they are on their 3rd game
then why make offline mode in the first place? there's proof for offline mode being in the game already, they just had to turn it on instead they didn't care to pull the switch and people now have to crack the hashes to make it work for them
@@CrustStarGaming not so much. I think it will be cracked as soon as the servers shut down if ea doesn't make an offline patch. Fans are really talented.
I remember people complaining about The Crew when it came out but now look at it, a game that people said was "bad" is what banding us all together to stop things from this happening again I enjoyed The Crew personally but im so happy that bad things like this brings everyone together from all parts of the community, I hope us gamers win and stop this from happening in the future
I might sound like a salty person but because of this I no longer want to play The Crew games. I didn't get any notification from Ubisoft or anyone else. I heard it from UA-cam.
I never managed to beat this game. It's nice what the community is doing, but I don't have a PC so I have no way to play this game (not that that's any different from everyone at the current moment in time). I did watch your video on the game, seemed like fun.
What's really irritating to me is it was the online element that I liked least about the first Crew. They didn't allow you to block other players from your races, so I'd be going through story mode getting rammed off the track by other players and having to rerun.
Hmm, this is interesting! Mods for the crew? Great! I personally didn't find myself enjoying the physics, but I loved the game actually. So since I have my own advanced vehicle physics simulation model. And in fact in a black box plugin format, I might be able to give it to be injected into the game to replace its existing racing physics. I remember there were similar mods for San Andreas, where modders injected new vehicle physics to get better drifting experience etc. Will check this out for sure! Thank you!
I wish you luck. This is not "my cup of tea" but in general this behavior should not be allowed and the smart money is on not buying "only online" games anymore, now that we see how is handled... in fact, imho only-online library of games should not be a thing because then a game can get dilisted too easily, And as for the licencing issue - a day's work for one graphics student will be the easiest way to remove the logos, names and likeness of the propriety assets and resource that problem
Yo someone posted on the DRIVECLUB sub of them being on the games DLC which was a masive post as the game is shutdown, all tho the person is inactive and the whole comunity is hoping for any progres from them
The most important things imo to understand why the The Crew shutdown is so bad are that: 1. There was no compelling gameplay reason for The Crew to be an online only game. It had rich singleplayer content to be played against good AI opponents. It was no Among Us type of game! 2. Providing an offline patch would've been cheap and easy, releasing the server programm for people to self-host would have cost NOTHING. Both would have enabled people to keep using the software product they bought with no mention of a limited time license!
I’m not sure, but you can correct me, if I was wrong. It is in their favor to delist it as each download while the game is inaccessible is costly to them as I read about this long time ago each download does cost some money for them.

Car manufacturers are cows for doing the stuff they do. From going electric to making game devs pay for licencing 🐮💀
Not just pay, but pay BAJILLIONS of dolkars, making it imposible for indie devs to make games with licensed cars!
But on flipside, the ones with unlicensed car tend to stay on market *STRONGER* since there's need to worry about license expiry.@@XxSanderMLGamerXx
@@XxSanderMLGamerXxfortinaiti ila babaji
@@XxSanderMLGamerXx This is why I like CarX's cars lol. 99% of the likeness accuracy without giving a dime to the manufacturers
Preservation applies to Most Wanted as it can be played via piracy.
It's just not sold anymore, and they still don't make PS2/X360 games anymore.
Licensing in films is different from games
Nah, licencing is a reason to delist a game but not to make it unplayable. It's entirely up to ubisoft to shut down servers, release an offline patch, etc.
a lot of the time that's not still not even true with music though. you'll find in a lot of movies and tv shows that later re-releases and streaming releases will have licensed music taken out and replaced with stock music.
Well there some indie games that ball to copy a model of a car and rockstaar GTA radio system were. We can play our own music
There are pretty good modern indie games ;-)
The only online only racing game in recent memory that received an offline patch at the end of its life is Gran Turismo Sport. GTS has a lot of single player content (GT League), and if you buy a used GTS disc, you can access this portion of the game just like any other racing game. I know this because I'm playing through the GT League as we speak. So, it can be done. I hope the same thing happens with GT7, once it enters its end of life because it's another "online only" game that has a ton of single player content along side MP racing.
Dev side I think this is only way to fight piracy
Wait till you hear Škoda is coming to GT7. Hell yeah
Wait seriously?

Always online games need to have an offline mode, it's a must have.
IM ONLY HAPPY when the CREW 1 OG will be Playable OFFLINE FOR EVER !
To be frank, I was a little afraid you weren't going to talk about this because of your association with The Crew Motorfest and Ubisoft, but I am really glad that you did. Your a true saint for promoting this campaign, mate. Cheers.
This guy has balls. Being a Ubisoft ambassador, but nevertheless he supports activities to keep The Crew alive.
thank you for talking about this issue, hope the message gets far and wide!
Well nostalgia aside times are changing as well as media in general gaming specifically is now on a dark path like always online why if you are gonna kill them atleast make them offline before taking down the servers damn what is wrong with publishers and devs in general
Publishers are money hungry but are quick to cut corners or losses in spite of the customer, and Devs “need to eat” meaning they either have no balls and not enough of them are willing to stick up for themselves and others in the industry, they co sign these type of ideas or they are simply just not concerned about the consumer, they make the game cause their boss says so, ship it and could care less outside of that
All love in South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤️

Woah, getting into the menu is actually huge. Really hoping that’s the main barrier overcome now, and more progress to follow!
Need for speed rivals also has a problem where the DLC cars are an online only content, once the server shut down, you can't access the DLC cars.
i died inside when i play the crew 1 after 1 year and wouldn’t let me join or anything

Glad you sharing about this :))
ALL OF THIS 📯 Thank you for being one of the voices on this matter, Panthaa.
I think Unite-boys can help with an offline patch for NFS '15 in future
This happened with Star Wars Galaxies for those that remember that. A bunch of people coded their own servers
You really miss something when it's gone...i need those long trips from city to city with the atmosphere, amazing day/night cycle etc.. we need this masterpiece back ASAP.
As a French, I really hope that this massive action will have an impact
I'm pretty convinced that the DGCCRF and UFC-Que Choisir will do something, that's on their interest

Great vid, super happy to see you covering the campaign and the TCU project!
TC was the only exception, but 99% of games that contain third-party content can be accessed anyway regardless of who originally purchased it or not.
Not to mention that console games stop being sold regardless of licenses, especially because they no longer manufacture PS2/PS3/X360 games

Haven't touched Motorfest since they announced the closing of the Crew 1. Kind of demotivated me to make any progression tbh.
I feel the same. Tbh I wish it was mandatory for offline patches to be released because I honestly Motorfest will eventually get shutdown
Me too. I will demand a refund both Motorfest and TC2.
(I don't care if TC2 is too old to get refunded,i'll fight for my money.)
Even if the developers themselves have stopped considering their product as a commodity and making a profit from it, then gamers have every right to create unofficial servers.
All i'm gonna say about that is : " All of you should've seen it coming when the developers, back in 2010, adopted the "all online" mentality "
That idea was going to turn bad for a multiple reasons.
Glad to see the game getting a sort of revival like NFS:World did, it will take time but i certainly want it to succeed 👍
2:44 If The Crew was playable offline, the others 2 licensing problems, wouldn't exist.😶
Thank you for talking about that topic
What an amazing Renaissance era for this, I'm willing to see the outcome.

I hope they make a good homepage for the project, because I don't use Discord and therefore can't read the information.
in some way it´s a shame, but you know that the internet starts "preserving games". it´s only a matter of time until you can emulate/ crack everything, especially a game with that mainstream success and that prominent history
It’s not necessarily the car manufacturers fault, blame should be put on publishers who require their games to be always online
Huge respect to you for not letting this go, even though Ubisoft put you into their new game.
If anything it makes me wanna fight more to preserve the game 😂🫡
One day you will be deleted by the crew…
And then your bio is going to say.
“Partner with game developer Ubisoft. Black Panthaa was cannon in the 3rd installment of the franchise. Before it got delisted. Now he remained partners with a company that has just delisted the crew 3.”
You really want that stain on your name? You have the chance to say this! YOUR IN THE GAME. You need to start making a big deal of this. It’s more than just a petition. Make a video titled “why it’s a shame I’m in the crew” or something do something to get there attention.
This reminded me when NFS World died, EA shut the game down and the community worked hard to have community servers and reanimate it.
But in this case Ubisoft demonstrated to be the bigger asshats by making sure most people can't access the game, because making the files completely inaccessible from their launcher is one of the biggest dick moves I've seen.
people would just pirate the game and ignore Ubisoft Connect entirely ;-)
Thank you. Servers should go peer - to - peer rather than be taken offline.
if i had a racing game like this, i'd make a license-free backup design for each car, music and whatnot in the game, and when the license ran out, i'd replace everything with original fantasy designs, and a custom sound track, just to let the game keep on living. if racing tracks require licenses too, then chop off all that do and include a simple track editor. there
i mean The Crew was the first of its kind its practically a Racing MMO and like all MMOs once they out live their cycle its a no brainer to not waste money and team resources, and it makes even more sense for the crew since they are on their 3rd game
Then they should've made The Crew playable offline like Polyphony did with Gran Turismo Sport when it reached end of support
then why make offline mode in the first place?
there's proof for offline mode being in the game already, they just had to turn it on
instead they didn't care to pull the switch and people now have to crack the hashes to make it work for them
Did you know bungee gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum?
Once again, it's up to the community to save The Crew or any other game. Ubisoft couldn't care less unless it reports them even a cent of profits.
this will happen to NFS 2015 as well, its pure online, same with Rivals, Heat on the other hand has offline mode what i really appreciate

I remember people complaining about The Crew when it came out but now look at it, a game that people said was "bad" is what banding us all together to stop things from this happening again
I enjoyed The Crew personally but im so happy that bad things like this brings everyone together from all parts of the community, I hope us gamers win and stop this from happening in the future
The car license issue is a quite a big issue
this is why the 99% of old games are unable to play unless you buy a CD copy for fricking 79$ or pirating
Thank you!
Modders vs Billion Dollar Company...my money is on the modders.
The thing is, i bought the crew like 2 months before it got delisted and shut down, so i got scammed pretty much.
I wish you luck. This is not "my cup of tea" but in general this behavior should not be allowed and the smart money is on not buying "only online" games anymore, now that we see how is handled... in fact, imho only-online library of games should not be a thing because then a game can get dilisted too easily,
And as for the licencing issue - a day's work for one graphics student will be the easiest way to remove the logos, names and likeness of the propriety assets and resource that problem
Yo someone posted on the DRIVECLUB sub of them being on the games DLC which was a masive post as the game is shutdown, all tho the person is inactive and the whole comunity is hoping for any progres from them
good information this is why gta 5 don't have real cars and games like roblox we had to pull our lambos and bmws cause of some copyright issue.
please send this to every car factory
The most important things imo to understand why the The Crew shutdown is so bad are that:
It cost a VERY small amount of money them.
All websites are fine if you download something. But not Ubisoft xD
