Gonna add some criticisms from my 20ish hours: - The AI is painfully bad in this game. Not only do they rubberband hard, but they also have zero spatial awareness. They crash into you, others, into trees and other objects. PS2 racing games had more sophisticated AI than this. - Once you completed all the playlist, there isn't really anything interesting or fun to do in singleplayer. Boring collectibles that give you nothing interesting and hundreds of "challenges" as the game calls them, which can be as entertaining as driving 20km with a specific car at night. Especially fun when you can't control the time of day. - The map is very hit and miss. Some areas like the festival site are nice, but there are also areas that are completely void of anything. The areas around the volcano come to mind, they are mostly empty and visually bland. The lack of traffic and pedestrians from the previous games certainly didn't help. - Some more specific PC stuff: Ultrawide and HDR support were laughable for a game that's asking full-price. I also didn't enjoy my framerate taking a nosedive every time I used photo mode, which the game begs you to use at any given moment. Overall the game really failed to captivate me. I'm not a fan of live service games so I was willing to give it some leeway, but there's really nothing that could hold me attention at all. Just yet another racing game that's merely an iteration of ideas we've seen before, mostly done better as well.
AI does exactly what other players in "the grand race" do. Crash in to you and take lines that they think work for them but dont. Typical arcade behavior. If you wanne play a sim, play assetto corsa. Also, calling something laugable isnt any feedback. It's unsuported critisism. It tells me nothing. 21:9 works. So whats the problem?
Honestly it feels like everyone is bashing this game only for the fact that it has some resemblance to forza horizon. Honestly I find the game pretty fun and the driving is really good compared to the crew 2 so where's the problem? Forza Horizon also gets pretty boring once you complete the stories and races so this doesn't feel like a good excuse. no one really complained THIS much about FH5 at release. Also just my opinion but Mexico is such a much more boring map than this one. FH5 is literally half desert....wish it had more tiny cities but nope. If i had to give an actual critic to the game it would be something like this -No new Rim options and the fact that they are still locked to chrome. -the livery editor is the same. It's also buggy but bugs will get fixed so.. -No real cross platform with friends, only in grand races if you time the start because the game will match you automatically with friends most times. -lack of a race editor despite it being added to the crew 2 not too long ago. -Farming gold parts can be a tad bit too grindy atm
Couldn't say it any better. This game is not bad, but not good either. Is like middle of the road. Serviceable enough to rob your hours of mindless grinding. Saying that this might be the best "The Crew" game and at lot better than 2
Meh. I came over directly from NFS Heat and THAT game has major rubber banding. Rubber banding was something I was specifically looking for in TC Motorfest, but I haven't seen it. When the AI slip stream you, that can feel similar to rubber banding, so maybe that's confusing you? I'm having an absolute blast with this game. I do feel like a lot of people bashing this game are parroting the same things. Mostly about Forza Horizon and the similarities. Then they go on to bash TC for things that are also in Horizon, yet they probably didn't bash Horizon for those same problems. 🤷♂️ Ultimately, the map is beautiful, the controls are good, the playlists are fun and unique and the online races are well done. Go play Horizon or NFS, I guess. Both are inferior games, imo.
Same, there are issues on last gen consoles in regards to frames stability and crashes, and some stupid design decisions in regards to button mappings, NPC AI and lack of content after the playlists are over. But the potential is there to be built upon, like the two other games in the series were with updates.
'locking fast travel behind 10 hrs of gameplay' sounds tiringly familiar to Gran Turismo 7's 'locking ultimate parts and engine swaps behind many many hours of gameplay to grind for money to buy more cars to raise an arbitrary level'
If you think the UI is bad, try changing to manual mode with (xbox X/Y) as your shifting buttons. The UI pops up while driving so when your shifting it will be hitting UI dialog options causing you to restart events / feats or accepting other dialog options.
You can map buttons in the options menu, although it's a bit cranky as the upshift and downshift buttons are tied to the airplane's yaw buttons. On my PS4 I use X and [] for upshift and downshift, and got Cara set for the left on the touchpad button, this solved the issue here.
That isnt actually manual mode, a lot of people seem to think selecting manual mode as the lay out makes it manual, but to select manual is either under the controller setting tab where you can choose the dead zones and things like that or under the difficulty tab where you change your overall game difficulty.
Lmao I just bought this game a couple hours ago and when this is one of the FIRST things that was killing me. You have to be careful in free drive too because if you do something like a speed trap you have to remember to hit O instead of up shifting 🤦🏾♂️
They traded some of the series identity to just make a Forza Horizon. Going from a huge US map to a tiny Oahu map did disappoint lots of people that liked cruising or the map variety in TC2.
@@pixeldubsofficialThe Crew 1 had a better atmosphere than TC2 because it actually had a grittier and more run-down approach to each city. Yeah sure, driving down another highway is repetetive but its also not just about the map being big. Its about enjoying the scenery, and if you cant do that there is always fast travel. Its just sad to see a dedicated team take on a challenge but then size it down to skimp out on other details that they couldve easily implemented(Non-repeating Building, working Rear Side Mirrors, Roads that arent bigger than an Interstate). They tried to build an atmosphere that is fun and enjoyable, in some ways they succeeded. But in my opinion failed in most. Its another Ubisoft game after all, so its another half-witted attempt at being different whilst not even improving on mechanics that should've been set in stone
You asked a very good question at the end. What is the goal of the game? That is exactly my problem with modern games of this kind. There is no goal. And a lot of the players seem to like that. All they want to do is just drive around. Whether alone or in multiplayer. The best example is Forza Horizon 5. Horizon used to have an objective. Over time, however, they have watered down the formula more and more to please the masses.
That’s a good way of putting it. My favorite open world racers all had a central goal that drives you instead of being pointless sandboxes. Rising up the blacklist comes to mind.
Why would you need an objective? When I come from a 10 hour work shift all I wanna do is to build a car in Forza and take it for a joyride, I don't need to grind to get it done, I already grind enough in real life. You must have alot of free time to waste on 'objectives'
Totally agree with you They could've added Mexico As expansion and we had all the perfect vehicles for smuggling A pro racer after his fame then into underground world kinda like first crew game
Sure the playlist is good, but it's just bunch of races with different cars, physics feels wonky, and The Hawaaiian map, felt Test Drive Unlimited is way better to capture the Hawaiian island
it's a racing game... what can you possibly do other than a bunch of races with different cars? If you actually like car culture the playlists are great
theres only few things you can adjust for grand race pvp- visual customisation, and pro settings ,so yes "the op tunes" are viable ,if you manage to tune your car well, you will have a advantage, everything else doesnt count, every other upgrade mechanic is for summits
I’m primarily a GT7 player and I hated TC2, but shockingly I’ve been enjoying this game a lot (despite the flaws). PS5 has been needing something like this for a very long time. I just wish the game wasn’t so grindy and didn’t have the stench of live service attached to it. I liked your comment on modern games not having any sort of focus or goal in mind. Sometimes I do feel lost playing TCM as I can’t even use the cars I’m spending millions on to purchase and customize in the playlist races.
I’ve enjoyed this game so far, but these are valid criticisms. There are definitely things that I wish they would improve upon, specifically the lack of good single player content outside of playlists. They could just add more events and it would be fine, but I don’t know if that’s the direction they’ll take them game. I would like to see a map expansion though, I think that would be interesting. Maybe we’ll be able to travel to some of those other islands that are around, or something. I think as it stands at launch it’s a little bit underwhelming, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. Ivory tower has shown that they can do a good job with DLCs so I have hope that they will right the ship, so to speak. The driving physics are pretty good though at least there’s that.
The Crew Motorfest is, with the mechanics taken partly from The Crew 2, a Free to Play game with a pricetag. You can play without grinding but you'll get either frustrated or bored quickly.
Perhaps in many ways I may be considered an 'odd man out' in this regards, but for me personally I really feel that Motorfest has so far been the best that The Crew has had to offer. It to me really felt more rewarding in regards to the driving mechanics compared to the games before it, and I appreciate the downscaled approach as the "condensed" US maps were honestly quite terrible in The Crew 1 and 2. There's certain regards that I feel this game does *FAR AND AWAY* better than The Crew 2 could ever do (Physics, Visuals, and Car Sounds to name a few), and I may be potentially addicted to Grand Races due to the sheer chaos they bring and that feeling of satisfaction when you can fight your way to victory. That being said, I feel this game could've potentially been an all-timer if it was allowed to have more time in the oven and not be forced to stray down the paths of being akin to that of Forza Horizon. Though in fairness, my understanding from those in the know is that this was more Ubisoft's requests than Ivory Tower's own. I wish publishers would stop insisting on trying to make their games like Horizon. Its also charging too high of a price tag, and the way they were very *vague* about how Crossplay in this game actually works still genuinely infuriates me. The fact that at they can just say "play with your friends across all platforms!" but then lack the ability to actually form crews through crossplay, the NAMESAKE OF THE GAME, is incredibly insulting. I hate that we live in a timeline where now we need to rely on publishers having to be *super specific* about something that should just be a fucking given. Oh, and avoid playing the game on Xbox if you own one, as that port in particular seems to have several optimization issues, most notably with long loading times at random that are most frequent when finishing a Grand Race. This is not present on PC or PS5 (though they have their own fair share of issues.) Lastly, its missing many of the QoL changes that The Crew 2 eventually got over time. The one that sticks out the most to me is not being able to just swap a parts set from one car to another, you have to do it manually again. Very tedious. I genuinely like playing Motorfest and I definitely will be playing it more than I ever did the first two games, but it pains me how this could've (and SHOULD'VE) been so much more.
finally a normal comment... I just feel like people are looking for things to bad mouth every game nowadays... especially when they played TC2 for like the first half year of its life cycle... if you played TC2 somewhat regularly for a month in the last year, you will know exactly what you can expect from the game... it's far from perfect sure, but it will get better over time... and it's still something else to play other than the same trio of Forza, Gran Turismo and NFS...
I was like 'God damn I HAVE to mute all of them' after listening half of entire dialogs in this game. Especially CARA's one...💀 (+ Does this franchise even have their own identity? That's my real question..)
Personally i think the game is great and have played it since early access, its held my attention a lot more than horizon ever did so im thankful for that. Iv actually had no issues even from launch with crew disconnects or fps drops. My PC isnt terrible roughly mid range. Asking people to avoid the game because you dislike it isnt exactly a nice thing to be saying however, the game has flaws but i don't think saying to avoid it is the correct call.
I'm (sorta) glad I wasn't the only one to see these issues with the game. Even in the Beta, the playlists seemed neat, but kinda shallow with no real grand progression to speak of. Of course, the lack of a definite progression is a problem of most modern racing games, so it's not unique here. Somehow it didn't occur to me how much MTX is put in this $70 game, especially for not really having a whole lot to do with the cars you do buy. I was disappointed to see houses/garages go away, especially now with the upcoming competitor (TDU:SC) currently slated to not have (individual) houses. It was a small feature, but it gave the previous game some "gravity" to where the player could stop and admire their vehicles (as well as modifying them). I'm honestly not sure how Ubisoft could steer (pun unintended) this game to be what legacy racing game fans would want.
What really went wrong is the game servers, constant crashes all the time. This game should have been an add on DLC for TC2, the cars are 2 expensive, it took me 4hrs to get the money for the F1 playlist. Still need the Lamborghini for the dream ride playlist. And lastly, the fact that I paid $130.00 for the ultimate edition and only got the basic game that's sold for $59.99 is a HUGE problem, and finally, trying to get ahold of Ubisoft for support or help, Good luck with that.
Very nitpicky review. Having to buy cars in order to get access to Playlist: Isn't it normal to meet certain conditions to progress? You complete a Playlist, earn money from that, use that money to buy cars which will unlock new Playlists. The loan cars also gives you a reason to play different cars without having to buy and test driving them. Having to clear 3 Playlists before accessing Main Stage: if you can't bother finishing 3 Playlists, I doubt you'll care about the rest this game has to offer. Playlists taking too long to complete: HUHH?? I thought people liked getting more playtime. The length of each is definitely not absurdly long and it's not like the game's forcing you to drive the exact same car every single stage.
As someone who has hundreds of hours in this game, The Crew 1 and The Crew 2, this video is 100% correct. I thought this game would be The Crew 2 but better in every way, and its not. Cringy and annoying dialogue, all you do is grind, Playlists, PvP, and Summit. This game was a letdown for me.
It's a great game, it does has it's ups and downs but it seems alot of people are just disliking this game because of mainly the loan cars, you have the feel the game in order to what to expect in these playlists. I didn't mind the loan cars, it just made the game enjoyable to play. Locking fast travel was frustrating at start but i realized that driving/ flying around the map was really relaxing and fun, really didn't care to even fast travel yet until later on in the game. The Ai in this game is more tolerable to deal with than in NFS Unbound, they seem to be quicker/ rubberband on Hypercar and Street Racing but not to hard, even on difficulty 1 and 2 they seem to buff up they're speed a little bit. I just don't understand why this game is getting hate already, clearly these people just be bored to quickly and not putting more than 20+ hours in the game. Some of these content creators just seem to row the boat with the nostalgia, old games are great and all but it doesn't means to just put in the spotlight into TDU2 over this game like it's better or something. This is for The Crew Motorfest not that other game... Telling ppl to avoid the game is just a bad way go about but some of these bigger racing content creators tend to be somewhat of the same anyways... The game is worth buying on sale in regards of what some other lousey person says so. The Crew Motorfest made me realized that The Crew 2 was a underrated game and made me want to play that game again one day. And if you not a person that likes to grind it out in games and you didn't had any experience from playing The Crew 2, then this title is not for you. I will give the game a decent 9/10. Hadn't much fun like this since The Crew 2 days. Edit: You can enjoy games by just ignoring the bad problems into to them. Have your own great experience and just have fun, ignore these people that review games in a bad way or somewhat unagreeable. If you don't like the game you can simply refund the game (if your one of those wackos that just bought the game and hate it already for no reason or anything, then you need to seek help or just fix you life problems...)
I lightly skimmed this comment and agree with more or less everything, currently on 146h play time and I’m still not bored of it, people seem to forget this is an arcade racer, if they want a realistic experience go play GT, although I will rate it 7/10 until they fix crews, friends keep dipping in and out of sessions and can’t join races
@@Jervo2000With about 100h on the crew 1 and 600h on the crew 2 and now with 170h with motorfest and after completing all chellenges and playlist races with 270 cars import from crew2 i CAN SAY GAME IS BORING map is too small i found treasure box every 10min on the same place i know every spot where treasurbox can spawn that says all we need map expansion and more races if we dont get new map game will die fast..And yeah handling is so much better then crew2 so people that saying its same or worse are f dumb
And yeah i almost forget there is no f straight roads there is highway but when you hit 450kmh on hyper car you can myb drive about 8sek and you need to slow down there is no straight roads to drive fast your hyper cars i remember how in crew2 you can drive 500kmh for almost 1min there is so much fun straight roads we need map expansion this is really bad i love crew i played alot nfs games and tryed forza horizon 4 one time and crew2 i had alot fun but now motorfest is already boring and have some issues and bad things
@@Bosslvl1 weather the game is boring or not is subjective, I play racers to play online (between GT sport and GT7 I’ve put in well over 2000h) so I’ve been mainly playing Grand races, all playlist are complete but I’m not hunting challenges to get 100% I think that’s one of the main reasons people are complaining it’s boring cause they’ve done every challenge and either don’t have the skill to place top 5 in grand races consistently or just don’t like multiplayer, but let’s face facts TCM is a multiplayer base game, with modes mainly catering to multiplayer, Summits,GR, demo royal
I am a massive ''the crew'' fan and I love motorfest, just the vibes of the games stick with me and I love the variation the game has, especially the crew 2. With all the different disciplines I can play the game for hours and hours and still have fun :D. I have played Forza Horizon, but I got bored really quickly, since its just the same all the time, and what the main factor is why I don't like Forza Horizon (I only played 4 on my own account and 5 for an hour on someone else their account) is that you get cars so quick that its not fun to grind for a certain car
As this being one of my 1st games in “the crew” series alone I was pretty excited to the point where I was able to convince a handful of friends to get the game as well, I literally have over 100 hours into this game already nd I can’t even begin to stress how much I agree with this video also Ik I’m on Old Gen but the constant crashing of the game (hourly) and bugs really make me want to stop playing as I have damn near grinding so much I have over 72 cars nd only use 5-10 🤦🏾♂️ the pvp (grand race) is a literal shxt show. One bad move and you’ll go from literally 8th to 24th, also the split stream system is toooo o/p nd I understand the whole legend point system thing but come on realistically if I’m going over 180+ on a straight away with nitro - no way yu should be able to just use my split stream to pass me up at a turn… not to mention you’ll sit there and bump me then I go flying into the wall.. Also it seems like the person in 1st place tends to never be seen until the finish line 😭
Str8 up its da constant game crash for me why I might stop playing it till I get new gen console cause I literally get over 10 crashes a day with this game
I feel like all crew games suck when new. Crew 1 was boring after completing the main story, constant lag issues lots of people experienced on the ps4, graphics looked outdated for back then. The game being online only pissed people off. After finishing the main story which was actually fun you weren’t left with a lot to do, the map may have been massive but it was always felt impossible to spot online players and activities were usually boring. Oh yeah and the vehicle upgrading system wasn’t liked along with the physics of vehicles. They did a graphics update and started adding new content which really helped the game. By the time the second game came out I probably had 1500-2000 hours. The crew 2 beta was fun and did get me instantly hooked on the game even in the beta, although at launch the lack of story made it hated, no cops in the map anymore so less things to do when in free roam. Introduction of planes and boats sounded cool but was honestly eventually felt forgotten. The map was basically the same with minor changes done. Many still complained about physics but I liked the arcade style. Worse soundtracks, I basically stopped using the in game music and started playing Spotify in the background at all times. No pvp races at launch. The only reason why I quit the game was due to the ps4 running at 10-20fps and next generation consoles were not out yet😅 They did change the physics of the game but I shortly quit the game 1 month before the changes and never got to experience it. PvP came back but as you can guess the servers would be dead and was watered down. Players did start coming back with new events and vehicles being added. In the end I probably put 1500+ hours in the game and basically was at least top 100 in leaderboard times in all street races, hyper car races, boat races, plane races because not enough people went for leaderboard times and was overall easy. The crew motorfest beta was fun. Although being able to import my old cars into the new games kind of removes the purpose of grinding. Graphics look bad when comparing to forza horizon 5 on the series x, the map does feel tiny and I did kind of hate the US downscaled map I still prefer it over Hawaii. Just bought the actual game game last week and I’ve been playing it so far it’s fun but I haven't used any car I’ve bought and makes me wonder if there’s a point in buying any of them? Have not tried pvp races yet, but it looks chaotic with 28 player lobbies and constant ramming The new graphics and more car selection, with the trust of ivory tower adding updates to this game for the next few years is a good enough reason for me to buy it Edit: I did kinda go off topic but I have a lot to say about these games since it’s my childhood, when I started this series I was about 10 and now almost 20😅
I have approximately 60 hours in. I hope they keep updating the playlists, once they're done and you've already played the grand race 20 times, it gets kinda boring. The game just needs more single player content 👌
My biggest gripe with this game is the unusual performance hit I'm getting. Anywhere in the dense vegitationI get stuttering despite getting near solid 60fps on the benchmark tool. Plus no dedicated fullscreen option and only borderless. Why? I have a feeling this is part of the issue, I don't know. Even capping to 30fps it just drops to 10fps Locking certain achievements / goals to crew only is also lame, I'm saying this as yes...I don't have friends that play racing games and hardly get invited anywhere in lobbies. So I can't even get gold titles because of this. I'm personally glad I'm just using Ubisoft+ for a month or two just for this game, I'd be mad if I paid full price. Afterwards I'm getting it on sale when it comes to steam. This game is still fun, but I think this game is here for me until Solar Crown comes out.
The problem was the whole game foregone story for grindy live service. It has no clear vision for what it wants to be, it's the most boring game ever, I spend most of my time replaying Playlists to complete a progress bar just for parts to show off at an imaginary car show, to win more visual parts. Where is my crew? Wtf happen to the crew?
I like the game so far and haven’t ran into the issues mentioned in the description I liked the crew2 so figures I like this game as well. I will admit the ai has some hard rubber banding but I’m just glad the game is providing me more of a challenge the crew 2 was way to easy and this game feels just right I play on four difficulty and it’s pretty hard. I can’t imagine playing on five a person would have to be insanely skilled to play on five difficulty.
I was going to say I wanted a new game that wasn't a festival racer, but now I realize what's even the point in buying a new racing game anymore? Most new cars now a days look like ugly spaceships and are either over-designed to hell, or so under-designed that they look like a dystopian future on wheels. Not to mention that it seems like no company knows how to do a proper arcade handling model anymore. Need For Speed is STILL struggling to make it work despite being the very last game in the street racing genre. What's the point anymore? I'm going to stick with my PS2 racers. At least with those you get the entire game, don't have to pay a single microtransaction, and you get to keep it forever.
the game have problems, but at least we have the grand race that is so good and then remember, ubi will support the game with updates for at least 4/5 years, so at lower price the game is worth
It’s a soulless game designed around user retention and I’m sure they will start selling more cosmetics and passes in the near future. There is no story, no stakes, no grit. It’s just getting so boring because every racer feels like this nowadays. I miss stuff like most wanted that had grit. It’s all very sterile to focus on being approachable.
Some of the challenges are requiring you to play in a crew. I dont have any friends that like racing games and i dont play with random people i dont know
For me Crew Motorfest is a decent game and a good alternative option for an open world racing games if you bored with Forza Horizon, even Playstation player can now enjoy a Horizon like racing games in their consoles lmao. All jokes aside, Motorfest physics and handling wise is much better than The Crew 2, but yeah i agree with you that the physics it's still not the best out there for an arcade racing games and still a bit weird that certain car classes like the Racing class still feels like a normal road car rather than a real race car, except for the race cars if you touch the grass then your car will sbinalla immediately, this is really annoying if it happens for me in The Grand Race PvP even though yes it is realistic. Some Playlists is actually good and some of them are boring and meh, i kinda dislike the idea that you have to purchased certain vehicle to unlock the playlists but you can't use it anyway because the game always loaned you vehicles to progress the playlist, wow how generous. After you completing all of the playlists the game feels empty, unless you do Playlist Challenges (kinda a bit boring if you're playing alone), Grand Race & Demo Royale PvP, and The Summit. The main selling point for Motorfest is always the Grand Race, 28 Players racing with collisions on is fun and chaotic in a same way. I really enjoy Grand Race but i still expect they bringing back normal PvP races like they did on The Crew 1 & The Crew 2. Overall it's good game, but after you completed all of the playlists and challenges the game is kinda mid because after that you just do grinding some stuff or doing Grand Races, at least Motorfest is offering you a lot more to do some other activities on Day 1 release rather than The Crew 2 on Day 1 where the game is really empty back then.
Crew 2s handling and physics are 100x better than this cheap cheesy FH5 wanna be knock off. By far the worst crew yet. The ONLY plus to this disater is they finally got rid of the crash cam. Garbage sound effects (shifting sounds like two planks clunking together). No multiplayer what so ever (that garbage grand race and the kiddy bashem modes dont count). Constant tire sqaul noise cause the physics are so bad its like driving on ice. Cheating unwreckable god AI. Plenty more that could be listed. You are right about the playtstation part tho with it being a direct copy of FH so now they are stuck with that downhill mess of GT anymore.
I loved the crew 2. It wasn't perfect but it certainly had enjoyable physics. Motorfest however.. Zero sense of speed, 140mp/h barely felt like 60. Doesn't matter if it's 4wd, fwd or rwd, all cars start sliding for no apparent reason. Which makes it even weirder that it is absolutely impossible to do a donut. The car will do a 180-270 degree slide and then start moving forward. Then there's the wonky menu, bad u.i and, well, alot of the things you mentioned. It really baffles me that they decided to rework the physics instead of further improving on what they had. Really thankful and happy they decided to have a free weekend so i could try it out. I would have been pissed if I hade discovered how bad it is after paying as there is zero chance of a refund. And yes, i always play these games the way they're meant to be played, with no driving aids.
So much fun on Crew2 despite having STUPID small number of friends that u can link with for the size of the map. Should have been 10 players minimum or ability to host private lobbies/sessions
The game isn’t the best but I still have fun playing these criticisms are valid but I still enjoy it and knowing the crew the updates will help this game immensely give it time it’s not forza horizon so I hate the direct comparisons both games have their place and it’s not like we are forced to choose between the two you can have both.
I liked crew 2 but then I completed the story and started playing online and my maxed out car was being left by pay to win cars n this new crew game looks the same
They should of fixed the fps issue along time ago for the Epic PC Version of the game, when trying to use Direct Drive Steering Wheels such as the Cammus C5. My frames went from 60fps on the controller to 14-20fps when trying to use my Cammus C5 Wheel for some reason.
Only problems i have with this game is the random game crashes and occasional freezes along with the game being more buggy when im in a crew maybe its just because im on ps4 but i dunno if other people are having this problem aswell
I have the same crashes thing, its mostly PS4, some PS5 friends say it happened to them as well, just not as frequently as PS4 Users, the freezing only happens when u go to ur PS4 screen and then go back to the game
Turbo noises are annoyingly loud on stock cars and supercharger whine is barely noticeable.. the shifting behavior is straight up WEIRD and cars with dct should have little to no drivetrain “wobble” not to mention the obnoxiously loud clunking every time you switch gears makes me want to puke. The road noises are nonexistent and it breaks the immersion that my tires are actually connected to the road.
1.If you played the crew 2 and imported 200-300 cars, there is not enough cars in motorfest to keep it interesting (unless you just want to buy every car). 2.I wish they would have improved on owning houses/apartments instead of removing them completely. Finally this game isn't as grippy as TC2, I can start breaking 15 miles before a 90° corner in motorfest and still smash into it.
After just watching your video and seeing the comments. I understand how they are feeling about the game. I’m on the other hand loving it. New cars that wasn’t in the Crew 2 and all. Yes I have seen a bit of problems that they will absolutely patch. Give it time people. It will definitely get better and we will be all over the game for 100+ hours when it’s all said and done
Agree, im a big fan of The Crew series and im loving Motorfest since early access, but i dont like how it came out this broken, like Forza Motorsport 8, i think they should have delayed those 2 games a but more to optimize them better and fix some issues, i still love Motorfest anyway and hope that all the errors get fixed by Update 1 in december and if sooner the better
The game was fun. I tried the free trial and subscribed to Ubisoft+ for one month to finish all the races. The tuning system is bad but I was able to adjust it enough to enjoy it. Finally they allowed me to us to change the button layout, otherwise I would have skipped it again
Bought this game because I wanted a game that's like forza horizon but refunded when I found out 1 day after playing it that it was always online and you needed PS+ to play it the fact that I paid 70$ for a game only to have to pay 80$ a year just to play it straight up a nope for me. I'm only getting this game at a really good price
My main gripes with this game have been that in 20 hours, so far I've not used a single car for any race... I've not been allowed 1 time in solo play to use a car I care about, its all been loaners. like what's the point of a car game if you aren't allowed to use your own cars at any point during solo-play outside of free drive. It just feels so strange since the Crew 2 had 200+ races where you could just hop in with whatever car you owned. The cars are labelled "rally raid" or "street" but there's hardly any reason to pay attention to it because there's no races you can do solo that involve a car you own. And even if it requires a car to do the playlist, modifying it before going into a race shows that the game just resets it back to "generic stock model car". And you aren't even bringing your own car to the race, its just a "pay-to-enter". Its a very fun game when its working at its best, but that best is taken away as you are restricted from doing anything you want. You cant use your cars in solo, you cant customize your character how you want, upgrades have been reduced to cosmetics you use in free-drive and never in a race, you cant play the game how you want because the difficulty between the different vehicle mediums are unbalanced, the AI feels like they just copied what they had from the crew 2 without changing it at all and just bandaging some rubber banding that's far too strong. You could walk around your showroom and display cars in the crew 2, that's gone too. A complete and utter refusal to use the island of Oahu to its full potential with a good story, instead its been reduced to people you don't want to hear, and have told to stop talking - but they wont stop talking. Its just... got so much potential and refuses to use it. There's nothing to do after playlists, and if you avoid online-play this game is dead almost the minute you finish the playlists. And "accolades or pointless challenges" don't count as content. I want to play a racing game to race, but there hardly any racing in this game without going into multiplayer. and that's Unacceptable. This isn't even mentioning the straight up lie they told about crossplay. You cant play with your friends if they're on an Xbox & you a PC, you cant invite them, and it wont let you join them. Crossplay only works in multiplayer events, not within your crew. Which is utterly worthless if you just want to play with your friends. Its literally waste metal, scrap stripped of all of its meaningful parts and isn't worth the material its made from. The Crew 2 tried to at least tell miniature stories, and had alot going for it being a map size unrivalled by any other game. And they decided not to play to their strengths and made what feels like a knock off of their own game. They could've made a very VERY good Forza Competitor had they stopped and spent more than 2 minutes thinking about what a game about cars is supposed to be about. But they didn't and we have a game that feels like it could've been made 20 years ago had it not been for the graphics. The only good things I have to say about it is that the driving and racing has improved a LOT since TC2, and the graphics are really good... that's it. Its painfully average, and it sucks to say that because I've had fun with this game... but its not even worth £20, let alone **70**. We sorely need to fight for better racing games, its been too long since we've had an objectively good racing game. I hope TDU Solar Crown turns that around, because Forza's fallen off hard (and refuses to do something about their 1 person who does bans frequently abusing it), NFS is firmly under EA's moneybags and wont be allowed creative freedom, and Ubisoft just doesn't care about The Crew at all, let alone the people who play their games.
you’re only required to use a loan car for the first completion of each playlist race, after it’s completed you can replay it with whichever custom car you’d like (with the upgrades to perf level)
Strongly agreed as shown on 8:03-8:20 I strongly agreed 👍 💯 that test drive unlimited 1 and 2 fast travel takes you anywhere on the map but on the crew motorfest to unlock fast travel for 10 playlist I just don’t understand it at all.
Nobody ever mentions that a big chunk of the car list is locked behind crew 2.....so new players or someone who wants to start fresh is screwed out of nearly half of the cars in the game. Crew motorfest should have just been a DLC for crew 2 insyead of a full $70 release......its a greedy scam from ubisoft honestly.
Thanks for this vid! I've been looking at people playing it and while I wanted something casual to play when im not competitively racing in my rig, I don't think this will be it, your summary of wait until it drops in price just made it for me. Thanks again for the good vid!
I mean for me it's better than any of the other crew games AND way better than fh5. Is it going to be a legendary game? No. Is it better than its alternatives? Yes. I can see myself buying it on discount and playing on my free time .
It's better than FH5 but you haven't even played it? This game is not even a competitor to FH5. It's really not worth the price tag as it's attempting to be a FH clone but does almost everything worse other than having F1 and motorcycle vehicles available to drive.
I really despise the ai in this game, the ai is dumb stupid, turning up the difficulty just straight up only upgrades the ai’s cars, the ai still ram into stuff on the highest difficulty Then when you win a few races the games like “hey i see you were having a little too much fun”
Finally someone being honest with this game and not trying to represent it as something that it’s not. Realism: no way man. Physics like horizon: no more like need for speed with a facelift. Not a bad thing but it’s what it is. And as you said the pay to win aspects and weird grind. It’s fun as hell but I came into it thinking it would be a better horizon, but it’s not even comparable to horizon. Sure some mechanics like the difficulty and the open world festival theme are in horizon as well, but everything else about the game just isn’t comparable. Like I said it’s need for speed with a facelift. That’s not an insult it’s just not what people are saying it is. So I’m glad I saw this video cos now I know I’m not alone thinking this way. Thanks for making me think I’m not crazy lol
The playlists arent bad at all. If you have played NFS Unbound then you will feel a bit of fresh air seeing all the playlists and being able to try out new cars without needing to buy them first. You can always go back to those races later w your own cars. Lol they did that right. Fast travel makes game maps feel tiny. Having to physically go from one point to the next allows the map to feel much bigger so you totally got that one backwards lol. I turned Cara down all the way and turned up the effects and atmosphere volume. Cant hear her at all.
After playing motorfest for 40 hours, I realize how good crew 1 was... I'm so sick of these Festival racing games. It's just all the same and that's why I didn't play horizon 5 Crew 2 was good but now I'm just tired of these meaningless festivals etc... I do like the playlists, especially made in Japan, drift experience, donut media and racing... but I don't recommend buying motorfest, unless you haven't played horizon and you're not fed up with all these festivals racing games 🤷🏻♂️
I hadn't tried out the very original The Crew yet (and great they're screw up that game recently) and thought of trying out this literally messed up mashup that Ubisoft made. I preferred Test Drive Unlimited and its sequel over TCM as its playlist are literally a total joke. And also at least the two TDU games has decent player customization options, a fun but a little brutal set of side missions, and separately group of categorized challenges like circuit races, sprint races, time trials and speed challenges. Also TDU 2 is also damn interesting bcuz of having tournament races as probably new as probably new additions and yeah, the good old Solar Crown tournament.
And why they bother too to have bikes like how TDU games had? And heck those bikes having nitrous for some reason, something Need for Speed really lacking at all and also of course Test Drive Unlimited isn't something like Need for Speed I guess.
It didn't go wrong, it's a really fun game... playlists are great way better than the nonsense campaigns/story modes in other arcade racing games. They actually care about cars and made curated playlists about it. Handling is actually great as someone who plays sim games too this feels way more intuitive than NFS and Horizon which has handling that actually makes no sense. The map is great, people obsessed with massive empty maps confuse me also Mexico is just a bit boring. Grand races and demo derbys are fun and something legitimately new. The summit is fun too. Is there 100 of hours of content? No, but if you're playing it that much then you clearly liked it enough to play it that much and just love to moan. There are loads of issues eg. AI sucks, no PVP lobbies/playlists, can be turned off but awful VO, stupid ghost cars in free roam... but it's still a really fun game and far better than most arcade racers.
My only problem with this comment is the handling being better than forza like what? Forza has pretty much the most realistic and solid handling vs the crew with its slidy af cars and as the person who made this video said the way you just seemed to be pulled down immediately after trying to have any air
@@its-ya-boisam2579 Forza Horizon physics are not realistic at all. Neither are but the Crew is like exaggerated reality. Cars slide way more than they would but if a car did slide, they'd slide and spin out like they do in the Crew not FH. FH has these weird 4 wheel drift going on and cars slalem around like boats that makes it really unintuitive for people who have played sim games. It may feel more realistic because it's heavier, less forgiving and you're used to it after so many games but trust me it's not. If you prefer it that's fine but it's not realistic. Play a Sim game if you want that. The Crew's handling is way more intuitive and fun to me but that's often a personal preference. I would recommend using assists if you're not liking it... drift assist is actually really useful, Isuckatdriving is a really good driver and he has traction control on comfort. I think a lot of people who don't like the handling have turned all the assists off
I tried the demo and the handling felt so bad, I don't know what's with a lot of modern games that seem to think making the controller react slower than usual is a good thing, it's the same crap as fromsoft games, they call it "deliberate" when it's actually just clunky and cheap in order to construct a fake difficulty that ends up making games nothing else but boring
How come in the crew 2 we could customize the one:1 in different colors but in motor fest it’s only q and not to mention the handling is so terrible. Motor fest started out fun but it’s gotten full really fast
I was going to buy this game since its on sale But now im having second thoughts Because handling and graphics improvements could've been done on the crew 2 Plus the map is really small
I've tried this game so many times, but the driving is atrocious. It's like once your stick goes about halfway, the car whips sideways. Its like they want you to drift every turn, no exeptions. Idk what they were thinking (its Ubisoft, they weren't thinking). If the whole purpose of the game is driving, but the controls feel gross and cumbersome, who is going to play the game? I've even tried the sim wheel, the cars dont start turning until you've tilted the wheel 7° and by the time you do start turning, that weird drift wall kicks in, so your car cranks to side
Gonna add some criticisms from my 20ish hours:
- The AI is painfully bad in this game.
If i had to give an actual critic to the game it would be something like this
-No new Rim options and the fact that they are still locked to chrome.
Saying that this might be the best "The Crew" game and at lot better than 2
How bad is the ultra wide ?
Ultimately, the map is beautiful, the controls are good, the playlists are fun and unique and the online races are well done.
Go play Horizon or NFS, I guess. Both are inferior games, imo.
Live service have ruined videogame industry
Well with every AAA game wanting to be one, the oversaturation of them should cause some kind of crash in the industry.

I agree
Same
i also like it, its more fun for me than horizon lol
horizon physics are the top for sure, tcm just does the rest way better imo
Same, there are issues on last gen consoles in regards to frames stability and crashes, and some stupid design decisions in regards to button mappings, NPC AI and lack of content after the playlists are over.
But the potential is there to be built upon, like the two other games in the series were with updates.
'locking fast travel behind 10 hrs of gameplay' sounds tiringly familiar to Gran Turismo 7's 'locking ultimate parts and engine swaps behind many many hours of gameplay to grind for money to buy more cars to raise an arbitrary level'
10 hrs isn't shit though
If you think the UI is bad, try changing to manual mode with (xbox X/Y) as your shifting buttons. The UI pops up while driving so when your shifting it will be hitting UI dialog options causing you to restart events / feats or accepting other dialog options.
bro this has been driving me absolutely insane
You can map buttons in the options menu, although it's a bit cranky as the upshift and downshift buttons are tied to the airplane's yaw buttons.
On my PS4 I use X and [] for upshift and downshift, and got Cara set for the left on the touchpad button, this solved the issue here.
That isnt actually manual mode, a lot of people seem to think selecting manual mode as the lay out makes it manual, but to select manual is either under the controller setting tab where you can choose the dead zones and things like that or under the difficulty tab where you change your overall game difficulty.
It is considered as “sequential”
Lmao I just bought this game a couple hours ago and when this is one of the FIRST things that was killing me. You have to be careful in free drive too because if you do something like a speed trap you have to remember to hit O instead of up shifting 🤦🏾♂️
They traded some of the series identity to just make a Forza Horizon.
Going from a huge US map to a tiny Oahu map did disappoint lots of people that liked cruising or the map variety in TC2.
Think about it though, atleast it isn't the same road for like 10 minutes then each city is the same looking.

I'm x 8 zzz zzz ;.
It’s still the best race car game out
@@pixeldubsofficialThe Crew 1 had a better atmosphere than TC2 because it actually had a grittier and more run-down approach to each city.
The driver perks system and upgrades are disabled for pvp hence fair pvp. The only thing that carries over are the pro settings I believe.
Yeah, I don’t know how someone can be that lazy when giving a review of a game. How can something so easy to understand not be understood?
but where is the point to grinde the peformanceparts?
btw, the QOAupdate should be including massdelete for unused parts
I like that because it rewards people who put time into their build and don't reward people who macro for parts or just use farms for parts
The goal is to upgrade your cars and buy new cars and in the end have the best cars.
They honestly should’ve stuck with the motorfest being a DLC, going from a huge map to a small map feels like a downgrade to me low key
Totally agree with you

I’m primarily a GT7 player and I hated TC2, but shockingly I’ve been enjoying this game a lot (despite the flaws). PS5 has been needing something like this for a very long time. I just wish the game wasn’t so grindy and didn’t have the stench of live service attached to it.
I liked your comment on modern games not having any sort of focus or goal in mind. Sometimes I do feel lost playing TCM as I can’t even use the cars I’m spending millions on to purchase and customize in the playlist races.
Yes you can use your own cars. Only the first races in all playlists Will make your use a loaned car, then you can use any of your own.
you say the stench of live service but NFS players always complain about games being abandoned, so what is it?
The driving physics are pretty good though at least there’s that.
whats wrong with it is the fact that they didn't release it on steam
Wait, they didn't? That would be super stupid
I was wondering the same thing. It's only on Epic Games and Ubisoft Store.
Heck even AC Mirage also missing its Steam release too
It's on steam now luckily but it's just re selling the game on steam, there's no really any improvement and so what, the old problem is still there

The Crew Motorfest is, with the mechanics taken partly from The Crew 2, a Free to Play game with a pricetag.
You can play without grinding but you'll get either frustrated or bored quickly.
mechanics? The game handles completely different to the Crew 2 which was the major issue with it
Amazing. F2P but with a price tag? What were they thinking?
This is not present on PC or PS5 (though they have their own fair share of issues.)
Lastly, its missing many of the QoL changes that The Crew 2 eventually got over time.

15:19 "How well 'The Crew' has aged"...well, THAT didn't age well xD
I'm a long time Crew 2 player and I simply will not be playing this game. Ever.
I love the crew 2 mainly for its simplicity and hands off nature but i cannot express enough how much motorfest pisses me off
Very nitpicky review.

@sakurubii bruh stop shilling for a multi bilion dollar company.
The only reason why I quit the game was due to the ps4 running at 10-20fps and next generation consoles were not out yet😅
They did change the physics of the game but I shortly quit the game 1 month before the changes and never got to experience it.
Have not tried pvp races yet, but it looks chaotic with 28 player lobbies and constant ramming
The new graphics and more car selection, with the trust of ivory tower adding updates to this game for the next few years is a good enough reason for me to buy it
Edit: I did kinda go off topic but I have a lot to say about these games since it’s my childhood, when I started this series I was about 10 and now almost 20😅
Another annoying thing is custom rims have very bad graphics and its not branded like bbs or like that, and brake calipers too looks crap
I have approximately 60 hours in. I hope they keep updating the playlists, once they're done and you've already played the grand race 20 times, it gets kinda boring. The game just needs more single player content 👌
Like the LIVE SUMMITS? 🗿
@FranquitoMV2004 Live summits? Those worthless weekly events with garbage rewards ? Yeah, those are stupid and pointless.
My biggest problem with motorfest are the ai racers in freeroam
My biggest gripe with this game is the unusual performance hit I'm getting. Anywhere in the dense vegitationI get stuttering despite getting near solid 60fps on the benchmark tool. Plus no dedicated fullscreen option and only borderless. Why? I have a feeling this is part of the issue, I don't know.
Even capping to 30fps it just drops to 10fps
Locking certain achievements / goals to crew only is also lame, I'm saying this as yes...I don't have friends that play racing games and hardly get invited anywhere in lobbies.
What went wrong was the idea and game itself.
TCM WAS MADE FOR INVESTORS.
Tc1 was way better than both of them.
when the honeymoon period is oven and now the negativity will start to begin.
typical gamers
The thing for me i like crew 1 more than crew 2
The first the crew was the best
Definitely a game that I'd only pick up once it's dirt cheap
The crew motorfest has been the best 70$ ive put into a game i have enjoyed wvery single second of this game and i love it.

so just like every single modern racing game huh
Ubisoft is what is wrong with this and every game distributed by them
I play with all dialogue sound off, Nitrous Sound effects off and music and hud off... much better.
The Biggesee issue i had with the Crew 2 was the missing keyboard settings, there wasn't even a notification or a tutorial..so i end it up
this game lacks "balls" to be a proper racing game. again devs and pr with their broad audience of fortnite dancers and cheap one-hit rappers...
the game have problems, but at least we have the grand race that is so good and then remember, ubi will support the game with updates for at least 4/5 years, so at lower price the game is worth
This game will just get better with a couple patches and I hope they support it like they did with the crew 2
Yea but- i feel like I'm supporting a company say i don't owned the game so no i won't pay it
I loved the crew 2.
I have a lot of fun for playing grand race online. But I agree that game need map expansion update and new rim
After beating all the playlists I've found I'm only having fun with the grand races
The game isn’t the best but I still have fun playing these criticisms are valid but I still enjoy it and knowing the crew the updates will help this game immensely give it time it’s not forza horizon so I hate the direct comparisons both games have their place and it’s not like we are forced to choose between the two you can have both.
I liked crew 2 but then I completed the story and started playing online and my maxed out car was being left by pay to win cars n this new crew game looks the same
I regret buying it already two hours in the same day it launched and I haven't played it since. The game just feels so clunky and boring.
Not being able to use your own car for any race in the game annoyed me. I don’t want to loan a car even though I already own the required car… 😡
I literally stopped playing it in frustration knowing that about every 45mins it seems to crash
It crashes on me when I rewind in a race. I'm on pc
Great concept but the physics are AWFUL! That is the most important thing to me in a racing game
An Ubisoft game that doesn't have a tailing mission!
The Mutliplayer with friends is still broken and peoples cars in freemode still randomly vanish
"Uh oh... I'm sliding out on wet pavement. I got an idea... I'll hit nitrous!!!" -you win
What do you mean, you dont need PS+ to play it, you need it to play WITH PEOPLE, both are different things
@FranquitoMV2004 I searched it up on google and it said you need an active PS+ subscription to play
Cry me a river😂
Strongly agreed as shown on 8:03-8:20 I strongly agreed 👍 💯 that test drive unlimited 1 and 2 fast travel takes you anywhere on the map but on the crew motorfest to unlock fast travel for 10 playlist I just don’t understand it at all.
In case Cara’s voice sounds familiar, that’s because it’s Tracer from Overwatch.
(Overwatch2 didn’t go so well & she needed a new job)
Nobody ever mentions that a big chunk of the car list is locked behind crew 2.....so new players or someone who wants to start fresh is screwed out of nearly half of the cars in the game.
Crew motorfest should have just been a DLC for crew 2 insyead of a full $70 release......its a greedy scam from ubisoft honestly.
I can easily say in the 12 or so hours ive accumulated. I've crashed about seven or eight times.
"after enduring all of this"
Already loving the video.
what went wrong? Ubisoft.
Thanks for this vid! I've been looking at people playing it and while I wanted something casual to play when im not competitively racing in my rig, I don't think this will be it, your summary of wait until it drops in price just made it for me. Thanks again for the good vid!
The game in the vid is wrong though this is a great game and it’s a must buy if you looking for a casual racer
The only problem I had in this game is the grinding for the main stage and summit rewards, counting I also have a job and I play other games too!
@@Lolatyou332 Possibly played the free trial i presume.
There are no qialogues in custom races. Once you finish playlist race you can play custom race on this track.
Ubisoft trying to compete with Forza Horizon and failing massively at it.
Something, something, breeds innovation /s
Honestly i play this game like 2 weeks and im already bored
I really despise the ai in this game, the ai is dumb stupid, turning up the difficulty just straight up only upgrades the ai’s cars, the ai still ram into stuff on the highest difficulty
Then when you win a few races the games like “hey i see you were having a little too much fun”
Cant hear her at all.
i know im a bit late but motorfest seems like ubisoft shitting out a unfinished worse version of fh5 to only appeal to playstation users
Spot on.
So glad that I didn't buy this game, considering they'll taking down the Crew 1 servers in april and making it unplayable.
After playing motorfest for 40 hours, I realize how good crew 1 was...
I'm so sick of these Festival racing games. It's just all the same and that's why I didn't play horizon 5
Crew 2 was good but now I'm just tired of these meaningless festivals etc...
Also live service really sucks ass
And why they bother too to have bikes like how TDU games had? And heck those bikes having nitrous for some reason, something Need for Speed really lacking at all and also of course Test Drive Unlimited isn't something like Need for Speed I guess.
I just like to drive slow for hours
honestly i just want a street racing game like old nfs, but this game fills my itch for racing, I actually enjoy the crew
God, I miss when racing games were about just driving... TDU2, NFS:HP, Forza Motorsport 4 and first Horizon, those were the days!
The biggest crime is the locked 60fps
Honestly, The Crew Motorfest should've been a DLC of The Crew 2 instead of some stand alone Game or a spin-off in some way.

I was going to buy this game since its on sale
But now im having second thoughts
Because handling and graphics improvements could've been done on the crew 2
Plus the map is really small
I've tried this game so many times, but the driving is atrocious. It's like once your stick goes about halfway, the car whips sideways. Its like they want you to drift every turn, no exeptions.
Idk what they were thinking (its Ubisoft, they weren't thinking). If the whole purpose of the game is driving, but the controls feel gross and cumbersome, who is going to play the game?
I've even tried the sim wheel, the cars dont start turning until you've tilted the wheel 7° and by the time you do start turning, that weird drift wall kicks in, so your car cranks to side
