The Crew's maps (and Forza in general) have the problem of not creating points of interest for the player, such as dealerships, customization stores, garages, places to meet other players. This helps the player to be more immersed in that universe. That's why TDU contains the most immersive maps in a racing game
The 1:1 map size is critical here as well. I don't care if it's a small island like Ibiza or large like Oahu, making the map 1:1 makes the game feels completely more immersive. You can cruise from one side of "Mexico" to the other in a matter of a few minutes. Top to bottom Oahu is over 30 miles. TDU 1 and 2 will always be the gold standard in open world games, unless TDU:SC can 1:1 Honk Kong.
@toddthezondalover645 I am still amazed at how they managed to create a 1:1 map of Oahu in 2006. What's even more impressive, to me anyways, is how they managed to fit almost that entire map into the PS2 Port of Test Drive Unlimited. There must have been some wizardy they pulled off into managing that.
@@Maximus6G I agree, and in my opinion the PS2 version is actually better. The physics are better but there aren't any bikes. But you get all the 360 dlc cars for free.
As a hardcore player that cares deeply about the franchise, i have but one statement about TCM: Imensely fun and polished core, held on by thin threads of broken design, bad decisions and game breaking bugs.
This game is absolut shite man, what r u on lol, cars feel like a potato garbage, u cant even normally break the grip in this one, sry if i blow your head with such thesises tho, seems like NFS2015 enjoyers are still out there lol.
I wish I had something positive to say about it. But given in my fifteen hours I put into it I had at most 13 or 14 crashes and the livery I used for the supra kept glitching out. That was my breaking point. So until I get a ps5 or the crashes are fixed. I'm done with this game.
It crashes just as much on PS5 unfortunately so it’s up to them to fix it. Funnily enough I logged on yesterday and my livery on my Gallardo had just suddenly disappeared… Just broken.
@@RatchetFennecFox Good to know. I swear I know this was meant to be an expansion for the crew 2 initially. But how did they mess this up. And on top of that charge $70 for a game that constantly crashes
There was a 5 hour trial for few days a week after launch then there was another one in october, but you if you used first trial you couldnt get 2nd @theedgybeatle
Coming from Forza Horizon, honestly my only gripe with Motorfest is its handling. And its not like Ubisoft or Ivory Tower are strangers to that- they can bring the Driver San Francisco style way of how cars drive around the road. Its just that this game has a long way to go in that regard. This game apart from that was a total blast to play through!
Dude same, I've also been playing FH and came here because it got too boring for me. The first time i played this i had a hard time finding the right point for my FH-based playstyle since the cars felt so heavy, but then i got used to it. It's actually more fun than FH imo cuz you don't get the obedience of the cars like in Horizon, instead you sorta have to fight with the car a bit but once you get smth like a drift going hooh boy is it satisfying
@Anigaming-dz5gh it feels like the cars in motorfest handle and dive in to corners steady and progressively but if you do anything to upset the chassis mid corner then you just turn into a snow plow of understeer. I'm liking the game so far and feel the handling model has more nuance than I was expecting, but it definitely doesn't feel forgiving if you try and make too many corrections in a short span of time. I suppose that's what the extremely powerful nitro is there for to help you make up some lost time for mid corner errors.
@@matrinezkevin11492 yea the nitro feels like an aid cuz it actually helps you turn and accelerate, and if you press the handbrake and nitro at the same time you get the "Burnout Paradise" handbrake where it just turns on a dime, useful for rallying. You can try the "nitro = faster turning" by going into a burnout and trying to do a donut, once the car moves you hit the nitro and it'll turn faster
The inmersion that Motorfest offers when exploring its map is gorgeous, may be a little map but quality wise is miles better than TC2, handling feels weird at first but i got used very quickly and really enjoy it, vehicle catalog is very good and the upcoming cars are amazing, this game has a lot of future content to offer, like the Hoonigan update in early december
I think the smaller map is actually another plus in that i want to drive everywhere instead of fast traveling. Every area looks amazing and diverse and i'm highly enjoying my time in it so i feel no need to skip the important part of open world car games, the driving. Lot of open world car games nowadays don't offer that sort of beauty and diversity and honestly i don't see why many of these games are open world in the first place. Motorfest seems to have found a legit reason to be open world and has revitalized my interest in the car genre. I also don't feel the point of no progression since there are so many things to collect between the world and the summit stuff. Haven't gotten to 'end game' yet though so i might fall into a whole then but we'll see.
The Crew Motorfest truly seems like a breath of fresh air after being stuck playing games such as Forza Horizon 5 and Need For Speed Unbound. I really like TCM for what it does well, and while I think there are some flaws, The Crew Motorfest is genuinely one of the best racing games I've played in a long time. Also, I can vouch for the EV playlist announcer, as I also pronounce Taycan like he does.
I've already had more fun in 10 hours of motorfest than I did in over 150 hours of unbound. The cars in unbound all felt like they handled either exactly the same and they were meta, or exactly the same and they were trash. No in between.
I dunno why but Motorfest is the most annoying and boring racing game I’ve ever played. I can’t really explain it to you, but I hate it. But maybe I’m skewed considering I’m a big fan of Horizon 3 and 4
This was such a fantastic, well-edited and thought out essay, and it's easily earned my subscription and like. I look forward to seeing more projects like this from your channel in the future!
Just found your channel today and have watched several of your videos back to back - extremely high quality and thoughtful video essays, really brilliant stuff! I will be supporting on Patreon for sure. Looking forward to digging into your long form NFS and Forza retrospectives 😊
I tried the game with the 10 free hours and I'm sorry but this game doesn't do it for me. I think I'm just getting sick of games that don't have any kind of progression system. I would love something among the lines of The Crew with its huge map but with an emphasis on really building your garage and upgrading it little by little : starting with an entry level sports car (or bike), upgrading it with IN-GAME MONEY that you win doing races or discovering the map. The races would sometimes have some kind of condition to participate like minimum power, maximum power, drivetrain, a specific brand etc... Would be pretty nice to be able to walk out the car in specific places like gas stations, parking lots, player houses (that could be customizable), mechanics shop. What I'm lacking in racing games is immersion, and you would think having a huge map meant to represent a real place would push devs in that direction but apparently not. I know there's the new Test Drive game that's supposed to go in that direction but I don't know if they're gonna deliver.
i have the same problems really. TCM is a beautiful and fun game but when i try to go deeper than the surface, and try to play for a longer time it often feels pointless, especially when i can't play grand race or demolition (no ps plus). No progression whatsoever, no point in buying different cars as most of the playlists give you one, far too little content inbetween playlists. I really wish we could see more normal races for different classes, with certain requirements (for car type, performance, model etc.), maybe a way for users to make and publish their own races. Exploration also feels pretty empty for me idk. The Crew 2 was so much better in these aspects. I really want to have fun in TCM but it quickly burns out for me unfortunately. Oh and i only participate in summits to grab the basic reward, no point for me in competing with hundred perfect meta-cars, this sucks all the fun out of it.
I haven’t played motorfest yet (still waiting for a sale), but as someone who played a good amount of TC2, motorfest sounds like a fun evolution that, unlike horizon, actually has new stuff to differentiate it from its predecessor. It’s also quite comforting to see that whenever I come around to playing motorfest that all the hours I’ve spent in TC2 won’t be for nothing.
As someone who never played TC1 or 2, I love motorfest for what it is - a FUN racing game! I wanna race against people - so I can just redo grand races as much as I want! At the end of the day, people forget it’s supposed to be about fun, and this game is exactly what I want it to be
I have both games but I'll stick with Horizon. Motorfest (or Grindfest as I call it) has potential but needs some important fixing, starting with car physics. And ffs CARA is simply annoying, more annoying than ANNA and that's not small feat
Love the vid, well put together, valid praise and brilliant criticism Nice to see a Motorfest in-depth review by someone who knows what they’re talking about in regards to the franchise/ has done their research keep up the great work 🫡
I never got why everyone switched to checkpoints in all racers, we had old NFS games just calculate where u are on the track, even the Cars movie tie in games had a perfectly good race system without checkpoints on a open world map. IMO Checkpoints should only be used for special gamemodes
It’s so players don’t cheese the entire race and hog the top spots on the leaderboard as easily. Though that could be remedied by simply respawning you back on the track, so I don’t get it either.
as a guy who reaching top 1000 in every summit i can definitely agree that summit's point system should be reworked to a cumulative one, leaving TOPs only for those who wants challenges, as for normal players - that skill and parts only defines how fast you can complete summit, because it's bad that most of the players can't get the rewards and that's main issue with these type of events
I stopped playing TC2 because of The Summit. If i had to choose between putting in an excessive amount of time, and not getting the cars, i'd rather not play at all
1:12 Cop: 2-23 to Central Dispatch: Go Ahead 2-23 Cop: In pursuit of a Yellow Diablo by the Electronic Arts Center, He's going more than 120 ! Dispatch: All units be advised, in pursuit of a yellow Diablo by the Electronic Arts Center.
Also, if you can, PLEASE try a steering wheel on this game, it feels SO GOOD if you have the right settings. My wheel settings personally are 720° wheel rotation Damper on 50 and vibration 75 H-shifter and manual clutch no low or high deadzones and fully linear for everything (throttle, steering, clutch and brake) Force feedback on 50 and dynamic range off
7:40 if the map had gameplay collectibles like burnout paradise where knowledge of the map gives you an advantage with shortcuts, a small map works wonders. But no racing game so far has taken paradise style of collectibles and it utterly annoys me.
@ld9387 all new games fail now their not up to the standard that they should be the industry slowly dumbed its self down to maximize profits it works so why not do it
I'll be honest, I think Motorfest might genuinely be the most enjoyable arcade racer on wheel and pedals. Also the fucking sound is just chef's kiss level of good. I genuinely love the feel of the game, but god damn do we need a toggle for the ghost cars. Sometimes I just want to drive around in my Porsche 935 or my 550 Spyder and just enjoy some cruising without seeing a group of racers that impact my ability to see traffic in front of me. I'd also really like for them to add deliveries back because man was it fun to do road trips together.
To me TCM was a real breath of fresh air. And if you can, try it on a steering wheel, it's amazing. The only gripe i have is the fact that you don't get to use your own cars during the playlists. You have to race with cars you have no attachement to, and your garage seems pointless. Why would i buy cars if i can't use them to progress the story ? Why would i grind races if buying cars is meaningless ? Why would i play if doing races doesn't get me anything ?
The Summit is actually one of the main reasons i stopped playing TC2, and why i won't be playing TCM. To get the cars, i had to put in way too much time, and to me it's not worth playing at all if i don't get the cars
Presentation of this game is on some ways better than Horizon. I also like the rear view mirror shows the back seat in your car instead of just behind your car
When I tried it I didn't like it. The original's best part is that you can tune your cars to so many categories. For example, a Porsche on Dirt races, or literally my favorite, the Volkswagen Touareg on Dirt is literally fullstock, except the tires, and It's the most fun I had racing a bunch of rally cars with a Family SUV. With the way tuning worked, It felt both fun, but very basic as well, wasn't perfect, I wanted to actually choose my engine and all, but at least I could do funny stuff. 2 and MF doesn't really have that, so it just threw the best part of car customization out the window. Okay, it at least had some of my favorite cars, the Mazda Rx-7 FC, and the DeLorean DMC-12, still no Peugeot 406, but hey, we got a Citroen. I did skip The Crew 2, so I wanted to try something else: Planes. I'm a huge fan of WWII Planes, so I immedietly tried out the Spitfire Lf. Mk.IX I almost threw up. The controlls were janky, but alright, fine, but what really killed it is the way it underperforms. EVERY PLANE UNDERPERFORMS HORRIBLY. I think the highest speed I reached in the Spit was 200 km/h somewhere around that, but for a spit, 140 km/h is it's stall speed. At 200 it's barely flying. the LF. MK.IX has a top straight-line speed of 660 km/h @4900 meters altitude, and can comfortably fly at 400 at sea level without pushing the engine. Of course climbing and diving is almost non-existent. The P-51D is even worse. We are talking about a semi-decent plane that's only outstanding values were it's range, and speed, at a top speed of 750 km/h. Aircraft are painfully slow, and the flight physics are a fucking joke. Okay, Car Game.....wait one more thing. Another passion of mine are War Ships. What....THE FUCK happened to the USS Missouri, and the Wreck of USS Arizona? YOU LITERALLY SAID YOU'LL NEVER FORGET DECEMBER 7TH, AND YOU FUCKING DECIDED TO JUST NOT PUT IT IN A GAME SET IN FUCKING OAHU ISLAND. Okay, okay, I need to calm down, this is Car Game, Car Game, it's a Game about Cars...People play this game for vroom vroom on 4 wheels, they don't know how a Spitfire is supposed to fly....or what the USS Missouri is.........Cars. I did mentioned what I didn't like about the main part of the game, Cars, but I guess that's enough for me to stick to Crew 1. And Stormworks. (I mean Stormworks is funny minecraft like Poly-graphic game that has no racing anyways, BUT.... But I have a V6 Diesel engine in a Tesla Model X.)
That's one thing that i will say that ubisoft got right in the previous crew titles were the long races from city to city or across the US map. One of my all time favorite games was need for speed the run. They need to bring back those long races.
As a long time Forza supporter, I've been disappointed the past few releases... The Crew could win me over if physics and customization were better. I enjoy drifting and customizing cars to portray personality. Thanks for the video. Quality production.
To their credit, i always felt like Ivory Tower really were trying to make an enjoyable arcade game but i think they lacked directions with TC2, i was a big player on TC2 and i've definitely seen the glow up the game had at the end of it's career, all in all it seems like they really learned their lesson and stopped trying to be forza horizon to be their own thing. I'm happy that for once a big game publisher actually is trying to make a fun game that don't just rely on it's content, playerbase and microtransaction to keep the boat afloat. Unfortunately, the latter is in a lot of cases the norm nowadays...
Honestly, I was expecting a very negative review about all the issues I've heard a out the game for like... the 20 billion time. But this was a really impressive video, simply because of highlighting positives and negatives I haven't noticed at all even after playing the game for 80hr. The only main thing I kinda disagree are the playlist, as my opinion towards it is much more negative. Anyways, good video, man. Can't wait for the Motorsport video for more insults towards the Forza fanboys
I like the checkpoints personally because I feel like it adds depth to the game. It makes it a puzzle. The races are open world rather than closed track, so it becomes a matter of "what is the fastest way to that checkpoint?" I feel like it adds another layer to track knowledge. I agree though that it seems like the checkpoints are finnicky. They dont always register when they feel like they should, but thats more like a bug than a design flaw.
Decided to rewatch this video, And man, most of your downs are actually being addressed with more & more updates... ACTUALLY GOOD UPDATES! I mean its ubisoft, and they never do these kinds of things, its definitely weird, but a great job on ubi for actually doing something (lets hope that they won't mess it up)
huge difference between the TC2 upgrade system and TCM is that the rerolling price in TCM doesnt increase and always stays the same, while in TC2 a single reroll can cost up to 16k but on a gold part the reroll in TCM will always stay 1500 bucks which makes the upgrade system insanely better, and getting good affixes isnt a pain in the ass at all anymore
also all issues you mentioned about the summit were already in 2, and way worse in there, drafting in 2 was significantly stronger and i barely felt it in Motorfest and made no real difference when attempting the events meanwhile in 2 it was impossible to get a good score in drag events or speedtraps without having a friend to slipstream off. in Motorfest there actually is something to have a level playing field, and that's the Fair modifier that was in a summit a few weeks ago
You narrated this very well and produced a well put together video. Ive been tossing some what about this since i have the crew & crew 2 but all in all thiw definitely woll have to be a wait and buy, poasibly even stream it instead
I played the game for two months on Ubisoft+ (since launch basically) and I already feel like I got my time worth out of it, lol. I'll only be getting it when it comes to steam and $20. I'll admit online has been quite fun though, but there needs to be more events / playlist for a variety or specific class races. Street 1 cars don't get enough love.
You're not wrong about the garage thing, I would've loved to have all my cars from horizon 4 in 5, I would've specially loved to drive my quadra V-tech from cyberpunk on the hot wheels track 😭
14:33 I gotta say, that's a very good McQueen livery. It's biased because I love the Cars franchise. But I do love a good Pixar Cars themed design on my cars.
Holy moly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This video is SUPERB! I am literally in tears with how wonderful, awe-inspiring and brilliant this video is. It's so detailed and extremely easy to follow, and the beautiful voice on top of that helps a lot ;) Wonderful video yet again, I am honoured to watch it! I feel so enthralled everytime I see you upload a video like this, and my little piggies start wiggling wildly. Thank you for all your hard work in creating these BEAUTIFUL and MASTERFULLY crafted video. Keep it up, I am so excited for more.. :DDDDDD ps. haiiiiiiiiiiii :3333
This i how this game can be improve: 1. Add a Normal pvp from 2 to 8 players to revive the races like the crew 2. 2. Add more missions to crontribute the exploring part of the Main Stage like weekly challenges. 3. Add some challenges so you can get more XP. 4. Add more Cosmetics and rewards to the Legend path of the Main Stage (after level 3 you don't want to do anything whith that). 5. Add some locations where to display your cars and maybe it can be like NFS Heat where you was abble to see your Crew Cars in a Public Garage). 6. Add like 3 Playlist or more every Season. 7. Add Challenges to the PVP events like the Grand Race and Demolition royale so you can get a Reward. 8. To the Custom Show add something that inspires people to create Better Designs and create a Real Competition. 9. Add some filters in the Desing on Tuning sections so it can be easier know what i want. 10. Add a Shop where you can buy the parts you need only with Bucks and leave the Ramdom afixes.
Tbh I love many parts of the Crew Motorfest like the Variety in Vehicles, Playlists, collectibles, challenges, Grand Races, Summit Events, the better steering wheel animations, etc Buuut on the other hand, the Handling is geared too much towards understeer and the cars feel too floaty/heavy and the fact that there's a slight delay in input built into the console version which is fucking horiible(yes i inow that they recently added direct mode but its wayy too twitchy for me tbh). It's hella frustrating fighting you car to make a simple ass turn even if you break at the correct point and you can still end up in the grass or a nearby wall/obstacle. Hell most pro settings tunes from UA-cam are made to mitigate that or correct that bullshit..IVT needs to revamp the physics either in this game or the next gane tbh. The FH series with all of its flaws has wayyy better handling physics that The Crew Series as a whole IMO. Theres also a lack of meaningful content updates, lack of other PVP modes besides Grand Races, the Demolition Derby mode and summit races, the bugs, the fact that race rewards are too low in most playlist and need to be increased a good amount. The performance upgrade system being too reliant on grinding and RNG which seems outdated AF IMO. All in all this game is worth a but when it's on sale and can go hand in hand with The FH series if you have gamepass as well if you so choose..
Hey man i just wanted to say that your content is really good im here binge watching most of it You deserve more recognition I usually dont comment So if i ever do it must be a really good thing anyways keep it up man Please dont ever change your videos there AWSOME
I agree with this review, this is a great evolution with some smart innovations that I've been craving for years in racing games. Will I buy it? No, you loved motocross in TC2, I loved motocross in TC2, idk who complained about them but they killed them with that handling patch. I'll wait and see if they don't do the same with the cars of this game, I bet if they change something, they'll make it as monotonous and lifeless as the previous game, even if like you said, the main problem is the limited countersteer.
@@UltraViolet_Moses You know what, been playing the demo again and I'm still impressed by what it offers, the fixes they made sure helped reduce the flaws, and every playlist still feels special and detailed, got convinced to buy it and been having a blast since then. This review helped to that along with the HW Unleashed 2 one. Really appreciate the analysis.
motorfest best part much be the awesome map design and i do hope they stay with that idea for the future and i know the motorfest just star ted i love if they did a crew eu next and this month we can get the sf90 and 308gts ferrari wich ive been waiting on
I really want to buy it via Steam but I'm still hype to play it until today. Can't wait! (Yes I know it's purchasable on Ubisoft or Epic. Plus, on a tight budget)
I dont see why people dont like TCM's handling? I actually enjoy it more than TC2's by far in my opinion and the little attention to details really sell it more. Plus the pro tuning function for each car can help sort out issues you've had with the car
every arcade, simcade racing game of the last 25 years have lost identity. NFS, Test Drive, Grid, Forza, Crew. I guess Gran Turismo might be the only one that kept something.
The Crew Motorfest looks and feels amazing! But i miss mainland U.S.A, i miss going for a long slow cruise from west to east, north to south or a circle around the map with motorcycle or car and be occupied for hours.. i miss the NY - SF race that took 45 minutes to complete yet never got boring a single moment.. I miss taking to the skies and flying all over the map hunting part boxes, flying through canyons, sometimes simply pretending to spray fields in a cropduster or using the helicopter to chase other players.. i miss the oval race track i could spend hours on racing with random players.. i miss chasing the rivers with a powerboat to complete A to B challenges.. i miss being at the salt flats and unleashing my drag racer.. When i bought Motorfest i felt claustrophobic, having seen all of the island within a day. It felt empty, barely encountering other players and mostly seeing annoying pop-up bots. There is no space for hypercars to truly come to life and flying feels worse than in Crew 2.. I uninstalled after 2 weeks of playing Motorfest.. deep down i hope that they will give The Crew 2 an overhaul with Motorfest mechanics and graphics..
I can’t tell you how annoyed I was when the Crew ditched the cannonball smuggling theme to create a forza knockoff. They could have chosen to rip off Tdu instead at least, that’s why more of a interesting concept.
I was truly excited for this game. I cannot find decent settings for my logitech wheel. I've tried so many suggestions... I found myself using the controller often and many other games feel decent with a wheel out of the box. Huge gripe - some the engines dont rev realistically. Mustang seems to go through the RPM at a constant rate theres no sensation of the motor making more power as the revs build (or turbo lag in others) And yet other cars in this game sound so good in fact some better than I've ever heard them in any game. I'll try again again 6 months.
The Handling has an Issue, if you want a better Handling you need to use all the helps but if you don't you get more rewards. So the game can be completely grip if you want. (The Pro settings can help you more with this i think but i still have'nt used it).
As a small correction to the grand race it only takes about 7-10 minutes total depending on the route a d wenevr 1st finishes theres a 60sec timer that once hits zero the race ends, also yhe payout is around 80-100k for top 10-1st
Am I honest opinion that the crew motor Fest doesn't necessarily force you to do every single Summit in fact you can take it quite easy if you already have the cars from Crew 2
Ultra violet you will be happy to know that they are changng the way to grind with year 2 Merging allowing us to combine parts to make better rarity and 50 percent of the bonus when we have 3 of the parts .thia is all in the article that has been posted on the 30th i think Although you did wish to change the whole system overall i do believe you would be happy and this is a good start
If that happens I hope the crew 3 starts on the west coast of USA Islands and the rest of the map to unlock through decades of updates. They have to add Alaska.
I think this is The Crew 3. Previous game gave us clear message, we won't get games with stories, so no sequel for The Crew 1, no sequel for The Crew 2, it will be just number or subtitle.
This game may have some highs ( cars/ carsounds the event variety it offers) but it seems pretty short on playlists and has too much Ubisoft everywhere. The career lets you choose a starter car you almost never use, the map is small, doesnt even have details like pedestrians. I cant see a festival vibe. And dont get me started on the cringy dialogue. And Forza still does arcady driving physics the best. Overall it just doesnt stand out that much. Iam still having high hopes for TDU:SC.
Motorfest does a better than Horizon 5 in many ways. (playlist wise being the big slapper) I've had a great time with this game since a couple days after launch. The car loan system is just the biggest issue for alot of unordinary people... You got to have a feel of what's to come in these playlists rather than just using your own vehicle like you just want everything given to your at the start. I personally love this idea into this game. The playlists have a in depth theme in the area when racing unlike in Forza Horizon 4 and 5 which those we're bland and uninteresting... Vintage playlist being my most favourite playlist in the game. There's lots of ppl crapping over this game it seems, mainly these forza scubs and these content creators (1 I used to watch kept riding that nostalgia train with TDU2 mostly in his video and just said this game is just straight up boring...) If you're not into repetitive grinding games then this game is not for you anyways. Great video mate.
To be honest, repetitive games with very ridiculous long grinding is what people have gripe with. I do not want everything to be handed to me but i dont want to grind long ass time to get something good. That’s what pissed me off with tc2 because grind gets too ridiculous and only one race can get you a lot of cash but it a long ass race across the country. There should be balance to make grinding fun and fair and not too repetitive and tedious
@@evandaymon8303 I 100% agree. There's should be a balance within the grinding system in games., eventually the grinding will be tedious at times. Sadly the grinding in The Crew Motorfest has became much more longer since this new European summit dropped. Wouldn't be surprised if it keeps going tedious overtime. RPG's and MMORPG'S have more value and are more rewarding when it comes to repetitive grinding in my experience.
I recently bought a month of Ubi Plus just to try out the new AC and this new Motorfest. I've never been into the past Crew games, but I've been heavily involved in racing games for atleast 30yrs. Always been one of my favorite genres going back to the 16bit days. I was pleasantly surprised with Motorfest. It FEELS like what Horizon used to be. Horizon has gotten a bit stale as of late to ME. This Motorfest game played excellently on everything from a 5yr old gaming laptop to a brand new 13700k/4070Ti desktop of mine. I plan on picking it up at some point for sure, right now I'm maxed out with Forza, Alan Wake 2, MW3, etc. But it's one of the better arcade racers I've played in a number of years. Ubi needs some wins right now. I badlly need them to stick around atleast until after Division 3 is released lol..
The Crew Motorfest is really very good, I like it, but what really bothers me is that once the playlists are finished, there's nothing more you can do. And you can also do lap races e.g. I can't set the number of laps... I can only repeat the specified races without making any changes...
I’ve wanted to get TCMF As a lot of racing games haven’t done it for me (looking at you Forza) From what I’ve seen the crew remembered what fun is, so I may just have to pick this up
@ultraviolet_channel last time i tried, the servers weren't working. I figured they closed the servers down, and made the game unplayable. I know it was when i tried plugging it in two years ago
@@Sentient6ixthe servers are still working and there's still a small community dedicated to the game, it's not working perfectly, it's hard to find a PVP lobby but there are always a few people in the freeroam that are happy to cruise with others.
Honestly I prefer the crew 2's large map so much more than the small motorfest map. Theres so much variety and diversity in the crew 2's map whereas motorfests map just all feels the same
Part of that is because usa map is too large and empty and other part most of the devs working on this game did work on test drive unlimited game so they have a idea how to make good scale maps
Is there any chance for " The crew Motofest : The Ultimate Critique " In the future? I really enjoy FH5 Critique videos. I did enjoy this one as well Good job.
Most likely not, there isn’t much else to cover that we haven’t mentioned in this video. Unless the game changes radically over the coming years I wouldn’t hold your breath for it
The combined design talents of The Crew with the fidelity of driving and world of Forza would be ideal. Forzas game design is laughable. and has been for a long time. Its great to see such genuine authentic enthusiasm with game design in The Crew. Its a shame I physically cannot stomach the physics model to play it. Theres just some great ideas and a lot of passion on display in actually adding and expanding to the design that as a long time Forza player(and hater) I'm not able to enjoy with its handling model.
Great review man. I really enjoyed it. But I also wanna mention some issues that I had with this game if you don’t mind. Some of them were actually quite similar to the issues that you were having as well. Also before I mention them I just wanna say that this is all based off of my own personal experiences. I’m only saying this because I don’t want a bunch of fanboys attacking me for having an opinion. Plus I already see a couple salty people in the comments already. (Most likely forza fanboys) That being said tho. Here’s some issues I had with the game. Upgrades: The upgrade system is easily the worst thing in this game. That and the RNG reward system that they have which makes earning upgrades even more time consuming. Especially when all you need is just one more upgrade for your car. But the game just gives you duplicates of upgrades that you already have and don’t need. Just like you when I found out that it was exactly the same as the last game I was extremely disappointed. However, I do have this strange theory as to why I think they haven’t changed it. This might sound dumb. But I think it’s because of the simple fact that not everyone complains about it. Sure people like me and you have complained about it multiple times. But I just feel like there’s not enough people who complain about it or feel the same way. Like that time when people complained/cried about the helicopters. They removed it INSTANTLY. I personally didn’t have an issue with it. But oh well. There’s also the constant complaining/bickering about the handling and the map. Now don’t get me wrong. I totally understand why people had issues with the handling and map. But some people just made it seem like that the handling and map of The Crew 2 was the ONLY issues that the game had. And if I’m being honest. I call complete bullshit on that. There were tons and TONS of issues that the last game had that wasn’t always just “handling and map”. Some of the other issues were just as bad. If not worse. And one of them was the upgrade system. There is absolutely nothing fun, challenging, or even rewarding when it comes to the upgrade system. And you mix that in with the stupid RNG reward system they have. It makes it pretty much impossible to fully upgrade a car. Because no matter how long you grind in this game. Whether if it’s 5 minutes or 5 hours. The game is simply not gonna give it to you. But that’s as far as I’m gonna go. I can keep going but I don’t wanna make this comment solely about the upgrade system. Basically all I’m gonna say is that if we want the upgrade system to change. People NEED to complain about it more. Or more specifically at the same high annoying level that people did for the helicopters, handling, map, etc. Because if everyone doesn’t complain about it. We’re gonna be stuck with it forever… At least for now. HOPEFULLY this changes in the future Map: The map in this game is pretty cool and all. And when I first heard about it I thought it was interesting. But recently I just got back into playing both of the crew games after awhile. And I completely forgot how fun the huge maps were. While I don’t have a problem with open world racers going for a smaller and detailed map. I didn’t think about this earlier. (Mainly because I got so used to the Forza maps I genuinely forgot what it was like playing on the crew maps). But now I’m actually against the idea of going for a smaller map this time. Mainly because having a huge map in the crew games was probably one of the best if not the best thing the franchise had to offer. It was the one thing that separated itself from other open world racers and was kinda unique in its own way. And I know people always say the maps were “too big, boring, empty, and it felt like a mobile game?… What?”But one thing it had that other maps didn’t was the size (or length as you said). Going back into the crew games after playing forza games for a long time really made me realize and remember how fun it was to go on a long cruise/race from one side of the map to the other. I know other maps (especially Forza maps) have better detail and locations when it comes down to cruising. But once you know the map. You really can’t have any surprising long cruises or races anymore because you just know the map by heart now. Of course that doesn’t make those games bad. I play those maps for different things I like anyways. But when it comes to having a long cruise/race. Especially one that takes almost 1-2 hours instead of 10-20 minutes. I’ll definitely just play the older crew games instead. That being said tho. I can fully understand why people were disappointed with the map at first. (Including you which I was surprised by because I didn’t know you liked driving on big maps too). This new map has tons of detail, elevation, and looks very colorful which I will admit it looks pretty damn good. But I will miss going for a long cruise/race on the older maps tho. Because while those maps weren’t perfect for everyone. For me those maps were hella fun to drive around and mess around in. Crossplay: Imma be completely honest. I usually don’t care about these things in general. But when I tried to play the free trial on my PC with my friends that play on the Xbox Series X. It just did not work at all. And after wasting almost 2 hours of the free trial that I got, trying to figure out why it’s not working. Only to then realize that Crossplay is just simply not a thing. My only problem with this is how is it that a game that literally has the name “The Crew” in its title and always talks about how it’s so fun playing the game with others and what not yet it doesn’t even have crossplay. Like if they can have lobbies of up to 26 players across different platforms for things like the online pvp events and the summit. Shouldn’t they be able to do the same for freeroam as well. Especially for players like me who just wanna go cruising with other players across different platforms. I get that making games is hard. But if other competitors can have crossplay in their games. And this game clearly has it for almost everything online competitive wise. Why not just make it a feature for freeroam as well. And also increase the player count for the online crews so that way you can cruise with more than 4 players around the map. Just a suggestion is all I’m saying. Online: This might be short. But I still hate the fact that you still need to have an internet connection (or just be online whichever it is) just to play the game. I know this doesn’t bother a lot of people. But to me it does because 1) Internet/power outages are always a thing no matter what. 2) As good as most of the content is in this game. Most of it just looks like you can do it all solo. Which just to be clear that isn’t a bad thing. I just don’t understand why you need to be connected all the time just to do solo things especially little things like painting a car, or driving around by yourself. I get that people say that they do it to prevent cheaters and what not. But it still just doesn’t really make any sense to me. But despite all the issues I had. To my surprise. I still find the game to be very good. The career is good and is actually interesting for once. The map is very detailed, colorful, and has tons of elevation. The cars have tons of detail in them and I like how they react to certain parts of the map. Like getting your car stuck in sand that’s pretty cool. And even with all the issues I had with the online. The online pvp events is VERY fun in this game. I swear I haven’t had this much fun in an online open world racer in a long time. The Crew Motorfest isn’t the greatest racing game of all time. But when I compare it to other modern racing games I played in the past. Along with the issues I had with those games as well. I realized that I actually had more problems and issues playing those games compared to this one. Plus I find this game to be very fun. And to me that’s the most important thing because I originally played video games to have fun. And in my opinion this was the most genuine fun I had in a racing game in a long time. That being said, great video my man. Also congratulations on reaching 25,000 subscribers my man. It’s crazy seeing how far you’ve made it on this channel. Especially with that crazy situation that happened to you earlier this year, and hearing you move across continents which isn’t easy. I gotta say man despite all your struggles you managed to pull it through and come back throughout the year. I respect that dedication so once again congratulations Also I do just wanna say that I apologize for making this comment very long 🫠
Thank you so much for the behemoth comment! Great points you’ve brought up as well. Thank you for those kind words and support at the end there, it certainly hasn’t been easy in the slightest, but the hard part is over now and we’re ready to push harder than ever, so thank you!
@ultraviolet_channel Bruh how did I watch this video and NOT notice I was the one in first place in that grand race at 26:48 😂 Other than that this was a great video.
I have to disagree about the handling. The crew 2 had the worst most unpredictable handling of any AAA racing game ever and needed sweeping changes or to be trashed altogether. I haven’t played huge amounts of motorfest, but it felt way more natural to me and crashes felt like they were really my fault. It still needs work though, it feels strangely uncomfortable to hold a consistant steering angle
Not sure if you’ve played The Crew 2 after the handling update last year, but unless you haven’t played a racing game before The Crew 2 is Butt easy handling wise, it’s near impossible to crash
@@UltraViolet_Moses i play nearly every racing game under the sun, from simulators to arcade, even used to race rallyx irl, and tc2 had some of the worst handling. I haven’t played in over a year i think, so if the handling update was significant i will reserve judgement until i’ve tried it
I was hoping for more obvious Magnum PI references in the story. Also I prefer a lot of features from 2 that just worked smoothly. And the driving is so annoying, taking turns and just sliding through them. If anyone has good settings please let me know
The Crew's maps (and Forza in general) have the problem of not creating points of interest for the player, such as dealerships, customization stores, garages, places to meet other players.
I just wanna point out that forza h5 is a car game but there isnt a single gas/petrol station on its map
@@mogamadrifaatabrahams8643 wait a minute...holy moly you're right
As a hardcore player that cares deeply about the franchise, i have but one statement about TCM: Imensely fun and polished core, held on by thin threads of broken design, bad decisions and game breaking bugs.
This game is absolut shite man, what r u on lol, cars feel like a potato garbage, u cant even normally break the grip in this one, sry if i blow your head with such thesises tho, seems like NFS2015 enjoyers are still out there lol.
Sed but tru
It still feels like a downgrade from TDU2
And on top of that charge $70 for a game that constantly crashes
played the free 10 hours and definitely waiting for a sale. But this game brought some fun that most racing games havent shown in a long time
The map needs to be huge .. and I’ll wait for a sale
How do you get the free 10 hours version?
@@Scholarsofsunnah it was on my PlayStation 5. I looked at the game and scrolled down some more and it said free trial
@@ScholarsofsunnahI think a day after it released it was free for 10 hours for that day only
There was a 5 hour trial for few days a week after launch then there was another one in october, but you if you used first trial you couldnt get 2nd @theedgybeatle
as a person who's only played the crew 1, this is definitely a video on the crew motorfest
Thanks, captain!
Ryo supremacy
as somebody who's just watched the video, this is definitely a video on the crew motorfest
I didn't play the crew 1, therefore i did not know this was a video on the crew motorfest
i played nfs high stakes on ps1, therefore i can tell this is a certified video on the crew motorfest
Oh, I would love to play with SF physics again
@@matrinezkevin11492 Yeah, oversteer should be a little bit more forgiving for me.
Totally agree
Also, I can vouch for the EV playlist announcer, as I also pronounce Taycan like he does.
you're so valid, keep pronouncing it that way
I've already had more fun in 10 hours of motorfest than I did in over 150 hours of unbound. The cars in unbound all felt like they handled either exactly the same and they were meta, or exactly the same and they were trash. No in between.
I dunno why but Motorfest is the most annoying and boring racing game I’ve ever played. I can’t really explain it to you, but I hate it. But maybe I’m skewed considering I’m a big fan of Horizon 3 and 4
@@DoggystyledaydreamYou got used to Monotony that you forgot what true fun is, hope you can recover man, wish u the best
@@FranquitoMV2004 Quite funny you say that as monotony probably is the best way to describe The Crew Motorfest as a whole honestly.
This was such a fantastic, well-edited and thought out essay, and it's easily earned my subscription and like. I look forward to seeing more projects like this from your channel in the future!
Wow, thank you!
You should really watch his oter videos he has a bunch of really good essays like this
Just found your channel today and have watched several of your videos back to back - extremely high quality and thoughtful video essays, really brilliant stuff! I will be supporting on Patreon for sure. Looking forward to digging into your long form NFS and Forza retrospectives 😊
That's very kind of you! Thank you greatly for the kind words and support, it means the world
I tried the game with the 10 free hours and I'm sorry but this game doesn't do it for me.
+1 Exactly the same feeling, tried the free trial and it was just horrible. Great gameplay, but boring playlists, with no real progression.
i have the same problems really.
At the end of the day, people forget it’s supposed to be about fun, and this game is exactly what I want it to be
I hope you bought it on Black Friday!
12:48 When you flip a car over and it’s still running you can hear the engine start to knock as its being starved of oil
My favorite part of this game is when Cara said "you really are the crew motorfest". Tears won't stop coming. Better than Horizon 5.
I have both games but I'll stick with Horizon. Motorfest (or Grindfest as I call it) has potential but needs some important fixing, starting with car physics.
And ffs CARA is simply annoying, more annoying than ANNA and that's not small feat
Moon I forgot to give you a heart until today I am genuinely sorry
Love the vid, well put together, valid praise and brilliant criticism
Nice to see a Motorfest in-depth review by someone who knows what they’re talking about in regards to the franchise/ has done their research
keep up the great work 🫡
Much appreciated!

Nostalgia hit me like a train when I heard NFS 3 hot pursuit music playing
This comment gave me goosebumps
Also, if you can, PLEASE try a steering wheel on this game, it feels SO GOOD if you have the right settings. My wheel settings personally are
720° wheel rotation
Damper on 50 and vibration 75
H-shifter and manual clutch
no low or high deadzones and fully linear for everything (throttle, steering, clutch and brake)
Force feedback on 50 and dynamic range off
7:40 if the map had gameplay collectibles like burnout paradise where knowledge of the map gives you an advantage with shortcuts, a small map works wonders. But no racing game so far has taken paradise style of collectibles and it utterly annoys me.
I already forgot that this game existed
this the most effective advertisement for this game i've seen, buying asap
The Crew 1 gives me that Test Drive Unlimited 2 vibe while the Crew 2 misses that, hoping Solar Crown can win me back
I hope new TDU won't disappoint
Nah Solar Crown is going to fail easily.

This game sounds really good, especially in cockpit view. I don't know or care if it's the most realistic, but it sounds pleasant and engaging.
Man watching all these videos on racing games really is making me want start digging back into them!
The Summit is actually one of the main reasons i stopped playing TC2, and why i won't be playing TCM.
To get the cars, i had to put in way too much time, and to me it's not worth playing at all if i don't get the cars
Love your music choice on the transitions
Wow what a great review. Really loving your content! ❤
Presentation of this game is on some ways better than Horizon. I also like the rear view mirror shows the back seat in your car instead of just behind your car
that's another great detail that sets The Crew apart, been like that since the original
Mk.IX
I almost threw up.
We makin it out of the street racing scene with this one! 💯💯💯💯🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

Fair enough!
Loving the NFS 3 soundtrack in the background. What a blast from the past.
Quality video, keep up the good work, bro!
Appreciate it!
Great Review. Finally an In-Depth review of a Game. I got the Gold Edition for $60 for Black Friday’s sale on Xbox! PS Subscribed…
Fair enough
I like the checkpoints personally because I feel like it adds depth to the game. It makes it a puzzle. The races are open world rather than closed track, so it becomes a matter of "what is the fastest way to that checkpoint?" I feel like it adds another layer to track knowledge. I agree though that it seems like the checkpoints are finnicky. They dont always register when they feel like they should, but thats more like a bug than a design flaw.
Decided to rewatch this video,
And man, most of your downs are actually being addressed with more & more updates... ACTUALLY GOOD UPDATES!
I mean its ubisoft, and they never do these kinds of things, its definitely weird, but a great job on ubi for actually doing something (lets hope that they won't mess it up)
The last thing this game needs to be perfect is an offline mode to about the TC1 situation.
The game looks gorgeous but I am always hesitant to get into the series because it's always online and then they can take even the campaign down
It should be called Motorfest, scrap the crew and bring it back to what the first installment was like
I really appreciate the trial. It was enough for me to buy the game, which I wouldn't otherwise. More games should do it.
Games use of the ps5 controller is so good too. Its not everyday we get devs that utilize it properly..it really feels proper
Instantly recognized the NFS 3: Hot Pursuit music... Very nostalgic.
huge difference between the TC2 upgrade system and TCM is that the rerolling price in TCM doesnt increase and always stays the same, while in TC2 a single reroll can cost up to 16k but on a gold part the reroll in TCM will always stay 1500 bucks which makes the upgrade system insanely better, and getting good affixes isnt a pain in the ass at all anymore
also all issues you mentioned about the summit were already in 2, and way worse in there, drafting in 2 was significantly stronger and i barely felt it in Motorfest and made no real difference when attempting the events meanwhile in 2 it was impossible to get a good score in drag events or speedtraps without having a friend to slipstream off.
in Motorfest there actually is something to have a level playing field, and that's the Fair modifier that was in a summit a few weeks ago
Got this game while it was on sale and played it with the g29 racing wheel , soooo much fun
My ultimate wish for this game is to have a 1 on 1, pick any vehicle, pick any track mode.
omg that would be awesome!
Oh hey, I didn’t realize they even kept the boats and planes in this new game. Those were my favorite parts of 2.
You narrated this very well and produced a well put together video.
Ive been tossing some what about this since i have the crew & crew 2 but all in all thiw definitely woll have to be a wait and buy, poasibly even stream it instead
another UltraViolet W
I played the game for two months on Ubisoft+ (since launch basically) and I already feel like I got my time worth out of it, lol.
I'll only be getting it when it comes to steam and $20. I'll admit online has been quite fun though, but there needs to be more events / playlist for a variety or specific class races. Street 1 cars don't get enough love.
You're not wrong about the garage thing, I would've loved to have all my cars from horizon 4 in 5, I would've specially loved to drive my quadra V-tech from cyberpunk on the hot wheels track 😭
14:33
I gotta say, that's a very good McQueen livery. It's biased because I love the Cars franchise. But I do love a good Pixar Cars themed design on my cars.
10:20 what is your suggestion or ideas for new different system instead of checkpoints in those kind of games?
Track design, clever track design doesn’t let the player cut the track, which is the main reason for checkpoints
My only problem i have with this game is no non playlist races having standard motor fest races would fix the empty feelings after completion imo
And it would give you a reason to use the cars you own outside of online play
Holy moly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This video is SUPERB! I am literally in tears with how wonderful, awe-inspiring and brilliant this video is. It's so detailed and extremely easy to follow, and the beautiful voice on top of that helps a lot ;)
Wonderful video yet again, I am honoured to watch it! I feel so enthralled everytime I see you upload a video like this, and my little piggies start wiggling wildly. Thank you for all your hard work in creating these BEAUTIFUL and MASTERFULLY crafted video.
Keep it up, I am so excited for more.. :DDDDDD
ps. haiiiiiiiiiiii :3333
This i how this game can be improve:
Tbh I love many parts of the Crew Motorfest like the Variety in Vehicles, Playlists, collectibles, challenges, Grand Races, Summit Events, the better steering wheel animations, etc
Buuut on the other hand, the Handling is geared too much towards understeer and the cars feel too floaty/heavy and the fact that there's a slight delay in input built into the console version which is fucking horiible(yes i inow that they recently added direct mode but its wayy too twitchy for me tbh).
Hey man i just wanted to say that your content is really good im here binge watching most of it
You deserve more recognition
I usually dont comment
So if i ever do it must be a really good thing anyways keep it up man
Please dont ever change your videos there AWSOME
Thank you! Really means a lot
It is a real shame Motocross is gone, that was one of, If not my favourite discipline in TC2
Really appreciate the analysis.
motorfest best part much be the awesome map design and i do hope they stay with that idea for the future and i know the motorfest just star ted i love if they did a crew eu next and this month we can get the sf90 and 308gts ferrari wich ive been waiting on
Yeah I agree
The NFS III:Hot Pursuit OST just SENT ME OH. MY. GOD.
Houses are coming back they haven’t been replaced I think they just wanted to do it right. I believe it’s coming in February if not a bit later
It’s cool that they included rhe GT by citroen considering that its was designed by the Gran Turismo team
The Handling has an Issue, if you want a better Handling you need to use all the helps but if you don't you get more rewards. So the game can be completely grip if you want. (The Pro settings can help you more with this i think but i still have'nt used it).
As a small correction to the grand race it only takes about 7-10 minutes total depending on the route a d wenevr 1st finishes theres a 60sec timer that once hits zero the race ends, also yhe payout is around 80-100k for top 10-1st
you good bro??
Am I honest opinion that the crew motor Fest doesn't necessarily force you to do every single Summit in fact you can take it quite easy if you already have the cars from Crew 2
Love this game can't wait to buy it 60 per cent off next year 😃
Ultra violet you will be happy to know that they are changng the way to grind with year 2
Merging allowing us to combine parts to make better rarity and 50 percent of the bonus when we have 3 of the parts .thia is all in the article that has been posted on the 30th i think
Although you did wish to change the whole system overall i do believe you would be happy and this is a good start
imagine if the crew 3 map is the whole america
If that happens I hope the crew 3 starts on the west coast of USA Islands and the rest of the map to unlock through decades of updates. They have to add Alaska.
Perfect ff16 music in the background 👍🏿
@@Sakurubii you’re looking at a rpg fan and yes when you feel it valued your time and made it fun i say it is successful
being able to take cars from crew 2 ,really draw my atention to this game, i will consider getting it when price drops abit
I think there's a discount now, i think tge standard edition game is 35 dollars out of the hole 60
Can't wait for Forza Motorsport 8 critique video
I’ve wanted to get TCMF
As a lot of racing games haven’t done it for me (looking at you Forza)
From what I’ve seen the crew remembered what fun is, so I may just have to pick this up
All I remember from this video is the persona OST in the background
Man, i wish i can still play the original Crew....
I mean you could always just… **play it**
@ultraviolet_channel last time i tried, the servers weren't working.
@@Lodomirov really? I'll reinstall it and give it a go. Thanks for the tip
@@UltraViolet_Mosessure bro. sure..
the only thing i dont like about the playlist is the narration, but gymkhana and dounut playlist is great because they talk like really people
Honestly I prefer the crew 2's large map so much more than the small motorfest map. Theres so much variety and diversity in the crew 2's map whereas motorfests map just all feels the same
How did they go from a map of America, to a map 1/3 the size of TDU?
Part of that is because usa map is too large and empty and other part most of the devs working on this game did work on test drive unlimited game so they have a idea how to make good scale maps
Quality > Quantity
HOPEFULLY this changes in the future
Map: The map in this game is pretty cool and all.
I respect that dedication so once again congratulations
Also I do just wanna say that I apologize for making this comment very long 🫠
Thank you so much for the behemoth comment! Great points you’ve brought up as well. Thank you for those kind words and support at the end there, it certainly hasn’t been easy in the slightest, but the hard part is over now and we’re ready to push harder than ever, so thank you!
@ultraviolet_channel Bruh how did I watch this video and NOT notice I was the one in first place in that grand race at 26:48 😂
Other than that this was a great video.
You should do a "TCM one year later"
I loved the crew 2 and love motorfest but the only reason i come back to horizon 3 and 5 is aussie cars...
