  • In this video, I'll show you one way of morphing from one character to another, such as Bruce Banner to the Hulk, a werewolf character, anime style monsters etc. The principles in this video can be applied to many things, so even if you wanted to have a cat morph into a table, this is how to do it.

    Instead of copying and deleteing rig, we can use vertex weight mix on shrinkwrap to transform from no vertex select to all vertex select

    nice explanination, I am not animator and don't know blender but I have a question, can it not be done using geometry node too?

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  9 місяців тому +1

      I'm no Geo Node expert, but as far as I'm aware, it can be done with Geo Nodes. However, both forms need to have the same vertex count and Vert ID. So you would still have to duplicate your human and shape that into the werewolf (or whatever) without changing the vert count.

    But doesn't that make the morph independent of the armature? I mean, if you add the skeleton animation (7:04) to the morph (14:47), won't that ruin it?

    How would this work if i was trying to morph a face into another face, however it would not be a one to one object but rather about 10 objects in one face and 30 in the other face to be morphed into. Working on this for my portfolio aka lifeline lol anything you can add would save me

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Рік тому +1

      Hey. Sorry, I thought I'd replied to this ages ago. If I understand you correctly, you want to turn 10 objects into 30 objects. This method wouldn't really work as the objects would all need to be shrinkwrapped in a different way, with vertex groups and keyframing of the influence or shapekeys.
      The objects' start and final position is the first thing to think about, then you just need to think about how to make the objects first. Each of the ten objects would need to be cleverly divided up into 3 (if you're going for even distribution). Each object (now consisting of 3 objects) would need to be grouped together in an animatable way, i.e. an empty or some other parent object.
      If you find that there were visible seams between the 3 objects creating one object, keep a duplicate of the unseparated original and animate that first. Having that disappear just before the object splits into 3.
      Once you've got the objects moving from one position to another, you would need to work on the shrinkwrap shapekeys, for all 30 objects, but it only needs to be on the outward facing faces.

    What is the difference between shape keys and morphing ?

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  6 місяців тому

      Nothing really. But shapekeys or blendshapes are usually used for small changes, like facial expressions. The "morphing" in this video was for more extreme changes, like the Incredible Hulk.

    Is there anyway to morph a figure into a premade model like the initial werewolf you had? Because i am trash at sculpting and editing and would like to use a better model than one made by myself.
    Thanks

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Рік тому

      Yes. That is what's shown in the video. I used my human mesh and a werewolf mesh I'd downloaded.

    • @legolasstudios
      @legolasstudios Рік тому

      @@pmdesigns5798 But you didnt use the exact model of werewolf you downloaded, right? You edited the human model until it looked like the original wolf one, no?

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Рік тому +2

      @@legolasstudios Yes, that's right. for a morphing animation. Sorry, I'm not sure what your question is. You want to morph model A to fit the shape of model B and then what? If you are making an animation, you would just use model A (the human) for the morphing animation, and then use model B (the werewolf) for the rest of the animation, i.e. running around eating people or whatever.

    • @legolasstudios
      @legolasstudios Рік тому

      @@pmdesigns5798 I just want a human model to morph into a werewolf model, kinda like what you are doing, except i want to use the intitial werewolf model i download as the final product after the human has morphed, instead of doing what you did where you sculpted the human model until it looked like the werewolf and then used that sculpt as the final product.

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Рік тому +1

      @@legolasstudios Got it. So yeah, like I said earlier, just use the human for the morph animation and then switch to the proper werewolf model for the werewolfy parts.
      I don't know how much you know about animation, but you'll have to do a bit of work to align the two rigs so there can be a seamless transition between the morphed human and the actual werewolf. Or just have a cut! :) Happy Blendering.

  • @alexokin6819

    Or would i need to do the transformation as a 1:1 all 30 combined to one object n all 10 combined for the other, then for the rest of the animation i would just sub out this 1:1 morph with the 30 and 10 respectively. Is that possible, what would be your approach? God bless you

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Рік тому

      Depends on how you want it to work. The first face could be one object just cut up into 30 pieces. Use a weld modifier, if the seams are showing. Then do the shapekey process in the video to have them move and break apart into the 30 pieces.
      That's just doing it in my head, so not 100% sure that it would work.

      Fair enough. But you should bear in mind that I didn't spend a lot of time making the examples in the video. If you take the time to model it well and follow the steps in the video, then you can get a good morphing effect. And secondly, there is currently no other way to do it.
