Thank you Sandy for watching I really appreciate it. James is absolutely amazing and I have reacted to 6 or 7 songs of his and most of them were sad and made me cry a little. This song really hit me hard, I have lost so many family members and watched my Dad die of Alzheimer's . I felt so bad for James. Thanks again and please take care.
This song hit me hard. I just heard it for the first time yesterday and have listened to it about 20 times since. The reason is I lost my Dad just over a year ago. He came home to my house on Hospice and lasted 3 days and I stayed every minute with him. As my Dad started to pass it was just me and him in the room and he knew right before he told me it was his time to go and I would be ok. When he started to feel himself slip away I saw panic for a moment so I just kept rubbing his chest and told him to keep looking at me as I didn't know what else to do but knew it would be what he would do for me and did that for about 5 minutes never breaking eyes with him until he passed. It was one of the worst and best moments of my life.
What a sad but happy story. You got to be with him. My dad died of Alsheimers 6 years ago. It was so sad to watch his mind just waste away. I did not watch him take his last breath. I just couldn't . My sister's were with him. We both have great memories and will have them forever. This was the saddest song I ever heard but it was great. Thanks for watching and your great comment. Take care my friend.
James also was in the British army, he was a captain in the tank division and actually saw action in Kosovo. He decided to leave and have a music career. James and his siblings weren't a match and his father was on the donor list, but really there was no hope. The comment below explains what happened and his father is still alive Well done ❤

@@grumpyoldguyreacts He was born July 1946, so he's 75 right now. James said of the song and the video: "Monsters is a eulogy to my father - except he's still alive and kicking. Their exact words - 'Credit to where its due Blunts version i got to admit is some very good acting for the camera, where as this kid it is all from the heart.' I don't know who could watch JB in that video and think its acting.
His father was in stage 4 kidney failure and they couldn't find a match. With their military background and the British stiff upper lip they didn't show emotions often. Thankfully after the song came out a distant relative heard the story and decided to see if he was a match and he was. So he father is still alive!
Wow that is happy ending to a sad song. I am so thrilled someone stepped up for him. As I have gotten older I cry all the time over stuff like this but I wouldn't have cried when I was younger. Thanks for the info and for watching. I really appreciate it
Like his father James served in action in the forces. His father was a career soldier and is the older man in the video. During the making of the record they could not get him a new kidney. So he was dying. This song was seen by a relative and he donated a kidney so he is happily alive...thanks to this song.
I respect any one who serves or has served. I thank them for their bravery. I am so thrilled that his dad is doing great. I had a feeling that was his dad but wasn't sure. I will definitely do more of him. Thanks for watching
Career soldier? No, not in the slightest. James and his father are what we call upper class and they were officers not soldiers. James was a Captain and his father a Lieutenant. There is a clear distinction between soldiers and officers, and yes I do know as I was married to a soldier and worked both in the Sergeants mess and the officers mess
@@jackwhitbread4583 Officers and enlisted men die in wars for their country. Bombs and artillery fire do not differentiate. The families of dead soldiers grieve. You will be offending families of fallen soldiers. Kindness doesn't cost and your opinion may be valid to you but it is terribly ungracious and cruel to express. You do yourself no favour.
A bit late, but I loved this reaction. I cried when I watched it, and often still do, thinking of my Dad. He's still kickin' about, but getting on in years (In his 70's) and even my Mom is now. It's hard and a lot of people take their parents for granted, never realizing what they will be loosing. I'm all to aware of what I will be missing, as my parents, especially my Dad, mean so very much to me. I played this for my Dad - it reminded him of HIS Dad, who died in his 50's. I just told him that it will be me, some day, being the last one. Treasure what you have while you have it.
I couldn't say it any better. I'm 65 now and I am the old parent. I have lost so many people that I miss every day. I wish I would have spent more time with all of them but you don't think about it at the time. Hopefully me and my wife have many more years left but you never know one day to the next. Thanks so very much for watching and your fabulous comment. Take care and kiss your parents all the time.
you know , I cry every single time I watch a reaction to this James Blunt song, it gets me every single time, I lost my mum a year last nov and dad end August last year ... ...

@@grumpyoldguyreacts I am about to be 65 in July, and I was raised with that same absurd notion! Boys and men don’t cry! What a lot of hooey! @@grumpyoldguyreacts I appreciate your reaction, Tom. I lost my Dad in September 2021, this song helped carry me while I helped care for him in his final weeks. There is so much truth in the lyrics for anyone caring for a parent at the end of their life. His birthday was also June 2, so when I read that I had to reply. Thank you. ❤️
a wonderfully honest reaction I commend your humility and I too am in tears as I watch it yet again, it just gets to you as do many of his songs, he is worth exploring further, his dad who had stage 4 kidney disease found a doner through the song and survives.
I was so happy 😄 to find out his dad got a doner and is doing great. This song hit me like a ton of bricks. I have watched to many family and friends get sick and they fight then die. Thanks so very much for watching and taking the time to comment. Take care
In the video - very real, very raw and as deeply emotional as you see - his father, sitting beside him, had a terminal diagnosis with kidney disease, and no viable donors, and a couple of months to live. This song, this video unearthed a distant cousin, who proved to be a match, resulting in a successful transplant.
Thanks Hank for watching I really appreciate it. This is the saddest song I've ever heard. It hits home for me or anyone who has lost family members especially If you have to watch them get worse and die. I'm so thankful that they found the cousin and save his Father. Thanks again
Thank you for your authentic reaction. You didn't shy away from the emotions and you only paused once which is appreciated because I always want to see a persons reaction to the lyrics and many will pause too often just so they can collect themselves when they start getting too emotional which isn't an authentic reaction when someone does that and you didn't. You immersed yourself into it 100% and that's what makes a reaction video an authentic one. ❤
Thank you so very much for the kind words and for watching I really appreciate it. I have reacted to James about 5 times and I think 4 of them made me cry. Not as sad 😢 as Monsters. I have James scheduled for about 3 weeks from now . He really is amazing and spectacular. Thanks again and Merry Christmas 🎁⛄. Take care and hope to hear from you again.
Thanks .I really appreciate your support. My son and his wife went to Scotland last fall and they absolutely loved it. They said it was so beautiful and the people were so friendly.
Both Blunt and his father served in the military and when James's was sent to Kosovo it has been reported that when his father said goodbye, his dad said, "you are not my son and I am not your father, we are just two grown men saying goodbye ".

Thank you for your reaction this song broke me too. Loss of a parent is the worst. It gets harder every year. The more memory’s u loss the harder it gets.
Yes it is hard. My mom died when I was born so I never knew her. My dad got remarried when I was 2 and I lost her in 1995 at age 55 of cancer and lost my dad 6 years ago and I think of them every day. Thanks so very much for watching and your comment
icant say anymore than the other guests, but its such a beautiful love story to a sons love of a father. , thankfully all is well through a donation, and james was a war hero. he carried his guitar on the side of his tank too
My dad passed in 2013. When I was little like most kids, I thought a monster that lived under my bed. My dad would come in the room and make sure there was no monster under my bed, and if he happened to see one, he would chase it away. Fast forward some 46 years and his doctor told me to take him to the ER. I set by his side for 5 days praying he would wake up, on the 6th day I talked to my pastor. She told me he was not going to wake up, and he was just waiting on me to say it was OK to go. Nothing can prepare anyone for that. He passed within 4 hours of me telling him that it was OK to pass, and I would take care of mom. I set with him and held his hand and felt him take his last breath. Tears. So, what I get out of this song is that he is telling his dad it is OK to pass, that it is his time to chase the Monsters away under the bed.
You have me crying again. That's a great story and you are a great son. My dad died of Alzheimer's in 2017 and it was just so hard to watch. Thanks for watching and sharing your story

Ironically, his father was a kidney donor and then contracted stage four kidney disease that’s his real father in the video and at this time he only had two months to live, and those are real tears. He’s crying in a strange twist after the video he requested, if anyone had type O if they would consider donating their kidney and his father received the kidney and is alive till this day, he wouldn’t allow them to edit the video he left it is exactly as it happened one take.

@@staceyknight9250 I thought it was from the heart for sure. I know one thing it made me cry like a little baby.
I really appreciate it
His father is sick again, his kidney is failing again
@@AlainnCorcaigh source?
Every time I see this I bawl. 😭. Beautiful song,. Thanks guy 👍
This was the sadest song I ever heard. It was absolutely amazing . Thanks for watching
@jackwhitbread4583 his father was a Colonel, not a lieutenant, so it seems you don't quite know everything.

@@grumpyoldguyreacts I am about to be 65 in July, and I was raised with that same absurd notion! Boys and men don’t cry! What a lot of hooey! I will definitely do that. I will be 65 June 2 and ready to retire. I am also glad that notion went away. But that's how it was.
Thank you. ❤️
Awh. A big hug to you.
Thanks. I like big hugs

I cry all the time now but was taught not to cry when I was young. Thanks for watching
a wonderfully honest reaction I commend your humility and I too am in tears as I watch it yet again, it just gets to you as do many of his songs, he is worth exploring further, his dad who had stage 4 kidney disease found a doner through the song and survives.
Tears come into your eyes.....automatically....sounds he loves his father alot...
I miss my dad every day. Death and sickness is horrible. James is lucky he still has him. Thanks for watching
