"IsN't YoUr iPoD GoInG tO sHoRt CirCuIt WiTh tHaT BaRe CoPpEr WiRe!?!?": No, the wire is enameled and will not cause any short circuits.
"How Long does the Battery Last?": Expect over a week of continuous playback, approximately 48 hours with the Display turned on.
"How Long does the iPod take to charge wirelessly?": This is dependant on the size of battery in your device, expect it to take upwards of 10 hours with a 3000mah battery. Charging times may vary depending on coil placement.
"Will this work with my Airpods?": Yes, I've tested with my Airpods Pro and AirPods Max, the iPod works just like any other Bluetooth Device.
"I Can't Connect my Bluetooth device to my iPod anymore, what do I do?": You might need to reset your Bluetooth Module. Do this by turning it off, waiting a couple seconds and then switching it to RX mode. Then turn it on and off again, wait a couple more seconds and switch it back to TX mode. (You will need to open your iPod to do this)
"What sort of Bluetooth Range should I expect from my iPod?": Approximately 5-10 Meters using the transparent rear panel.

I am impressed at the dedication to preserving the 30pin connector - as someone who still uses the largest 30pin peripheral ever: the 2006 MIni Cooper (not only is there a 30pin connector in the glovebox, but this generation of ipods recognizes it in the firmware :-) (I've never done anything more advanced to the ipod than battery swaps myself...)

Incredible is all I have to say. The idea of having an iPod classic like this one and being able to listen to all your favorite old tunes on your existing wireless headphones is too exciting to even think about. Not to mention coming back home after a long day and tossing the iPod on your wireless charging station… simply beautiful

That iPod looks absolutely incredible! I love the wireless charging! You have inspired me sir! Whether I win or not, I plan to do the following mods…
I have two 5th gen iPods and I plan to do the Bluetooth mod, the transparent case, transparent click wheel, new battery, new screen, and after seeing how well your iPod came out, I also would like to attempt to add wireless charging and I will paint the battery and the frame as well.
For the second 5th gen iPod I plan to replace the case with a new one that retains the original look. I will of course upgrade the battery, add Bluetooth, and replace the screen and click wheel.
I also have an iPod Hi-Fi and a 20” iMac G4 that I would love to pair these iPods up with!
Thanks for the great video, I’m looking forward to seeing your future projects!

The main mods I plan to do with the board from my 7th gen lying around would be to make an ipod that has a nice colour scheme (maybe black front plate with a yellow clickwheel) with a huge battery and storage size. I understand why iFlash boards are so useful but I find the HDDs fun too. The little noise they make and the feeling of movement in them really differenciates them from other MP3 players of the time. Anyway, very fun video, I really like the wireless charging aspect especially. Means you could realistically have a wireless charger in your bag to charge all your devices!

Awesome video thanks for sharing mate, love doing hobby tech and was just browsing UA-cam wondering what mods had been done to the classics (was aware of storage/battery increasements) but to see Bluetooth and wireless added it's quite inspiring.
Keen to have a crack myself, going to start with an 80gb iPod 5.5 due to the DAC, going to first do the battery and storage then seal it back up, with the intent of added Bluetooth/wireless when my skills permit

Always loved the classic design, even when it wasn’t the classic. My 80gig is in use everyday and never seems to fail. The battery is far from great but it lives in its dock so this doesn’t matter. Its 120GB sibling has had a bad harddrive for years and is just begging to have modifications like this. After-all 120gb is so small these days :)

Someone should make a wireless charging case for the iPod 5.5 and the final 7th gen. It would have a 3,000mAh battery built into it along with the Qi wireless coil and a Bluetooth module. A case like this would add around 15mm to the bottom and around 15mm to the top of the iPod to account for the 30-pin plug at the bottom and the electronics for the Bluetooth module plugged into the 3.5mm jack at the top of the iPod - and maybe 2-3mm on each side... It would be a great option for the folks who want to breathe more life into their old iPod but aren't brave enough to do the SSD and battery mods us geeky folk have done, and it also adds the functionality of Qi and BT...

I will definitely put all my songs that I been saving up since 2009, Spanish, Japanese and English songs. I usually play songs at work for everyone in the restaurant to enjoy, so that’s the first thing I will do with this iPod.

super intriged on new mods you put in...also had extra thought ...you should try using the mini hard drives in building a mini external storage bank...I emagine they could still be adaptable to the 30 pin wiring adaptor...thanks sincerly George..

Feeling VERY late the party, but damn, that end shot is NICE... makes me want to dig up my 5th and 7th gens and do something with them!!! I was using my 7th gen up until the battery gave up the ghost in 2017 - since then its been iPhone city (lately with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3s) but I miss the physicality and dedicated usage of the iPods of yesteryear.

Very nice project I hope you will do something greater soon. I haven't any ipod or any electronic experience but I really wanna one of those ipods. However, if I had a chance, I install wireless charge, bluetooth device, huge battery and memory too. Moreover, I would use SSD and I prefer non-transparant case. The most of all I would place some magnets to use magsafe charge and other magsafe accessory (wallet, car holder, etc).
