Hello Geek, I´m from Brazil, so sorry if I write english wrong. Last week I buy my iPod Classic 6º Generation 160gb, and I liked your video about SSD and Baterry. I subscribe now in your channel, is very very good.
Tudo jóia Edemir! Muito obrigado - e bem vindo ao canal! Seu inglês está bem legal. Por curiosidade, você comprou o iPod Classic usado? Ou um "novo" na caixa? Quanto custou?
Good day. I am from Russia and have available Ipod classic 160 gb 7 generation. At one point, he stopped charging, I think that problems with the entrance to the charge. What can you tell? Thanks in advance for the answer.
Thank you Christopher! Well, making all mistakes was not my original plan... but, ha ha, now I am happy with the outcome - it seems the video got way more useful this way :)
Ha ha, you are totally right! The only problem is: for search purposes, I need to bet on the most commonly used terms - when people try to find something... and people search “how to replace iPod batteries” or screen or “iPod SD Card Update”. To give my videos a fighting chance, I get boringly descriptive and explicit on the titles... although “How to replace everything in your iPod” sounds way cooler 😎
Or "How to waste hours of precious time, while you could be working on something else more productive, or just buy a cheap Chinese knockoff with a built in fake 1TB sdcard." ;D jk
4 years later, this is still the best iPod modding video ever. I used to run a smartphone repair business and the problems that you ran into are such a real struggle when you first start out! I appreciate very much the candor and honesty in your guide as well as the work you put into making it easier for the rest of us! Thank you for your help and sharing your storytelling and video talents with as well!
Oh, Daniel, that was very sweet and I appreciate the kind words 🤗 I started recording thinking it would be “How to EASILY fix your iPod Classic”… then mishaps were happening one after another - I recorded everything but I abandoned it very frustrated, it remained untouched for 2 years. It was my wife that insisted the video could be even more interesting because of the mistakes… to embrace them in the story. She was so right, wasn’t she? 😍
@@GeekDetour She absolutely was! And, thanks to the both of you, your channel has been an inspiration to me since you first published this video (I came across it soon after you posted it and am just returning to it now to see if I can upgrade my wife's beloved iPod). Thank you!
I clicked the like button simply because of your skill of repairing that thing (which is ultimately awesome), and because how u show your gratitude & love toward your wife.
Geek Detour haha what I was getting at is that I was interested in this without needing to know how it was done (had the last gen with 80gb, wish I still had it now!) Great vid!
I just want to say THANK YOU as loud as I can! For Father’s Day my wife took my iPod classic everywhere to see if they would replace the battery. Only one shop did and kept it for two weeks and said they couldn’t open it. Your cheat sheet on the clips is a blessing as it took me less than an hour to open it up. Thanks again
Wow, that’s awesome! I am so happy for you Ruben, thanks for sharing your experience! ❤️ Most of the people watching this video, by far, do it for entertainment - and I am more than ok with that - but it really warms my heart when someone tells me the video helped to actually restore an iPod 🤗
I seriously thought I was the only person that still uses an Ipod classic. i feel so much less alone now, and, if it dies out on me I can now fix it. Thanks so much for this!
ha ha ha, yeah! I am REALLY surprised with all the warm comments people are writing down here - the iPod remains important to lots of people, many, many fond memories!
@S. Dizzle Don't wait till it breaks down, buy some of these parts before they become obsolete or rarer to find even from chinese manufacturers. There are times I wish i had ordered spares way before mine died down
Ha ha, well, the thing is: even with just 1TB, the only way for you to fill this space is using raw music (wav, uncompressed), because the iPod’s internal database has a limit of 50 thousand songs. But listening to uncompressed music, the battery would go faster as well... so I don’t see much sense in doing it 😊
@@GeekDetour whit the extra space from the 1tb can i use the ipod classic as a external drive, not for daily store files , just ffor backups? it recognice the 1 tb? y just saw the video GREAT JOB SIR, i have an ipod U2 edition 30gb
@@EllisPerhaps I mean....I don't find it weird having a separate device for music....I actually really want to do this now or at least make a raspberry pi version XD
@@darsparx Yeah, I sorta made the comment as a light-hearted piss take, with phones being able to store music; but I gotta agree with both Geek Detour and yourself, there are definetly some pros with using a dedicated MP3 device as apposed to a phone.
Honestly.... best repair video I've seen on youtube. Extremely precise and informative, all actions were very clear, it was sped up a bit to be efficient but not so fast it misses details, all the "dead space" was removed (e.g., the part of the video where it's time to open the iPod, it's not 25 minutes watching someone do it in real time), and realistic expectations to let us know that we're not idiots and you're human too when we break stuff or can't get it cleanly apart. Well done. :)
Thank you Sheldon! I really appreciate! Yeah, during the past 3 days, this video caught fire - I don't know exactly why... it seems UA-cam KNOWS us, like, REALLY WELL! And they were able to push it to everyone that would enjoy this, ha ha ha ha.
Ive had my 160GB since 2012 and everything is still working perfectly. I am running low on space though and stumbled across this video. Its good to see there are options for us ipod fans out there.
This is the best video describing all the various processes i.e. replacing the battery, the storage, screen etc. as well as the best tool for the job. I found it useful and informative. I will watch it again. Thanks!
Jesus that was total commitment to the repair. Thanks for showing everything that went wrong. I think people learn more from that then a text book perfect procedure.
Still using mine. Sadly I lost my old iTunes account, The music on my iPod is like a time capsule. I’m at the point where it definitely needs a battery replacement. I’m dreading the process but it was/is the best piece of tech that Apple has put out.
My ipod is one of my favorite possessions and probably the best money I ever spent . I listen to it every day and have fixed and sold hundreds of others.
I think this video is absolutely wonderful, and I am glad I took the time to watch it, even though I don't own an iPod classic and can likely not afford one either. That closing statement about remembering the day she gave it to you, and how you valued it because of the memories you have associated with it, is exactly what I love about refreshing and breathing new life into old tech. Amazing. :) I wish you many wonderful years of listening to music with your iPod.
My friend, this video is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have the exact same iPod and the exact same problems. I've been scared to work on it because I didn't want to ruin it. This was for the first "big" thing I ever bought for myself back when I was in middle school so it does mean a lot to me. I'm finally taking the plunge and attempting to fix it. Lo and behold, you have blessed UA-cam with this video that explains every single thing I was unsure about. Thank you, my friend :D Insta sub
@@simonspasskiy .... That's not the point. SD card support is not in the OS, someone had to make it work. There exists 3.5mm to bluetooth adapters, that will just take the signal going to the 3.5mm jack, and convert it into bluetooth audio. Just will have a separate way to connect to it. It's possible. Similar to how people add bluetooth audio to their car or TV. Practicality is another issue however, and probably size constraints.
I was really worried about fixing MY iPod, it was special to me 🥰 DankPods makes an entertainment show: when he can fix it, good; if it breaks, even better: it is part of the drama 😄 “Let's hammer it and order a new iPod for the next video” 🤣
same here, I'm basically hoarding it. Over 26000 songs and 355GB (3000 flac files make up 130GB of that), all properly organized :) and there is no real single device to put all that music on, so I use foobar at home and play music on my phone.
Nothing truer has been said, “15 years ago , carrying your whole music collection, physically in your pocket was a daring idea. Now, it is just nostalgic”. I feel so old lol
I still prefer and use iPods nowadays. I have some library music that I've been gathering for at least 10 years. Lots of things I couldn't find on Spotify, Amazon, or anywhere else but some obscure blogs around the net. I have a 5th gen iPod Classic with 30GB. I've stored this one because the headphones jack is broken. I couldn't fix it because it's too dificult to have specific spare parts available in Brazil. Then I bought a 160GB 6th/7th gen later. Everything was fine for 8 years. Then a friend of mine just sold me another 160GB 6th gen and I've bought that just in case. Now their batteries are showing signs of age. Suddenly I've found your video, even bought some 650mAh replacement batteries but I'm trying to raise guts to open them both to replace their batteries. I'm glad I've found your video. Thanks for posting!
Hello Américo! Oh yes: streaming definitely doesn’t have everything an eclectic person enjoys listening 😁 I have a few Indian music CDs I couldn’t find anywhere else later. My wife also had the complete Legião Urbana discography... and the complete ABBA discography: streaming doesn’t offer “complete” discography 🤣 So, we keep our collections physically on our computers and iPods 👍 By the way, you have more iPods then I do - when the batteries die, you will feel the proper encouragement to open them 🤣 Um grande abraço deste brasileiro que vive em Madrid 🇧🇷 🇪🇸
You actually replaced everything inside bro. But still, kudos to you. I also feel the same way of keeping something that has sentimental value and on owning things physically.
Ha ha, yeah! Well, having had suck bad luck now makes me happy because the video kind of covered everything that could happen and it seems to being way more useful to people this way! 🤣
This was one of the best videos on replacing iPod parts and links to the parts. Thanks so much for the video. I think it is Always worth owning your own songs. You will always have the music and can hand it down to others too. Streaming music can end tomorrow or it can be interrupted or censored for the latest politically correct mood. I never got the benefit of paying for music (streaming) and not owning it. When I own it I can listen to the music I want and not depend on others. When you stream it you own nothing!
Thank you very much! About keeping music locally, I am totally with you Antonio! I also used to have a HUGE (1500+) collection of DVDs, we sold most of if 10 years ago when we moved from Brazil to Spain. Here I almost never buy movies anymore - it has more to do with the fact that we don’t watch the same movie again and again and again... different than music. Ha ha, I made a quick calculation: what we spent in all those DVDs surpasses what I’ll pay for Netflix my whole life 😳
@@GeekDetour Hi GD, I fixed my iPod Classic just now and it works just fine. I ordered the tools and the equipment you recommended and put in a 70,- Euro, 256 GB SD card. I didn't break anything, I didn't have to open it up again. Thank you for your blood, sweat and tears, so we wouldn't have to go through that ourselves. 🤝🤝🤝
Thanks for the easy to watch and informative video! I too struggled and created a small line on my screen, but I got it open, replaced the battery and earphone jack. I did not order the sd card upgrade but i will now that i have successfully opened and tested the cheaper replacement items. I loved the "ground hog day" reference and how you treasured your iPod because it was from your wife.
I miss old Apple... the second generation Intel based iMacs were amazing! The First generation of Ipod nano, and iPhone changed everything about portable tech. Just my humble opinion.
Hi noleftturnunstoned! Well, I am a very nostalgic person and I admit I tend to look the beginnings of anything as “golden Years”... I still have an Apple II 8 bit computer (in working conditions - I played loderunner, Mrs PAC-Man and Karateka last week). BUT, man, my iPhone 8 Pus is AWESOME!!! I just think we are fond to the simplicity of the beginnings (as a developer, I might say now it is far more complicated to make a good design that fits all the different screen sizes, than when we just had the iPhone). Nonetheless, I see constant evolution... (but would be great to still being able to upgrade disks, rams and CPUs ourselves)
Apple//e, a pizzabox, b&w g3, pbg3 fw, clamshell fw, tibook (dead), 3 pb12 (1 alive), pb15 ‘05, the last g4 mini, a quad g5... and a ‘15mini i5. Then iPod Shuffle 512 (the white usb stick), 2nd gen nano 2gb, iPod “physical wheel”, the 4 buttons white iPod ‘03 (sadly dead), the silver alu mini, an 80gb ‘06 color iPod, and a “iTouch”2. Most still in good condition.. I think I’m kinda nostalgic as well. 😇
Yes I still do carry the iPod classic 160Gb model today!! However, the original batt can’t seemed to last and I have ordered a slim batt for replacement! Thankfully I saw that iSesamo tool... I will get that one! Don’t want to break any clips inside... cheers man!! :)
Nice video very entertaining and educational. I do like to keep my music locally. Back in 2010 I did buy the classic without knowing about the hard drive and felt the hard drive vibrations were not for me. So returned it the next day.
Oh my goodness, the commitment to fix the original issues, and then the replacement parts for the damaging all the other parts that broke from opening the unit in the first place 😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for that ending, it was hilarious. This would also probably be me trying to “fix” my broken iPod classic.
Yeah, I was recording every step - but I got so many problems that my footage stayed untouched on an external disk from 2016 to 2018… when my wife finally convinced me it would be great specially because of the mishaps. I guess she was right ❤️
I could feel how much u love ur wife. I keep my ipod shuffle too which came with engraving. Old tech can be focused again after many years gone. Good job.
Geek Detour Wow, thanks for quick reply. ^^ I also keep iPad2. My wife was holing my 8month baby in front of apple store on the queue, wait for 6hrs to buy the day 1 iPad2 in Australia. It is dented at all corners, button is not responding as smooth as new. Luckily, apple still offer battery replacement service which actually replace to whole new housing as new condition. After many years gone, the ipad2 is absolutely slow but, actually no problem for my mailing, ebaying, netflix, youtube, quick browsing and photo. I decided to pay for the battery replacement service. Also, ordered apple genuine original smart cover for aud 15 only which showed on TV commercial with jony ive’s buttery voice. I’m so happy and excited to see refreshed my old iPad 2 with original smart cover soon which is more excited than weight lost iPad pro 3.
Streaming is extremely convenient when you think of something you want to hear that you may not have ever been able to get you hands on a physical copy of (a lot of local rap music from the 90s and early 2000s fall in this box), but having your music stored locally on a computer, dedicated portable media player, or phone is just great for people like myself who still love the feeling of going out and buying physical media.
For me it's also kind of like this, but it's also the fact I don't have to depend on data/WiFi for streaming music and I don't have to worry about my phone's battery. Having the iPod is nice to have all your music in CD quality instead of having to sacrifice phone storage.
I recently bought an equal one. I agree with you in wanting to have my music with me and not in the cloud. By the way, I loved your way of telling everything. Thanks for the video.
I think your video is the best one on UA-cam about iPods. I was a collector, I had all sorts of iPod in any size and colour...I sold everything it was too much work. Right now I have a 3rd 40gb, 5.5 80gb, 7th 160 GB and a 4th shuffle. I want to modify the 5.5 changing it's battery, adding ssd, changing front and maybe add Bluetooth and also I want to restore the 7th. But believe me I never saw a guy starting a video changing battery, adding the iflash and then changing the Jack and the screen too in two separate moments....it was soooo funny. But I understand that your iPod it's a gift and it means a lot for you, I feel the same for mines they are gifts too. And also I totally agree with your idea about music, it's nostalgic but we come from a different era, we want to have "physically" our music with us not in some cloud among the sky. Espero que te vaya todo bien en España, un saludo y espero que el próximo video sea divertido cómo este :)
I had no idea the SD card mod was possible. I have the 7th gen and the older 30gb which the 30gb no longer works and this just motivated me to order the parts to fix it. Thanks
Ouh so that's a thing again? I did refurbish those iPods 2 or 3 years ago. Basically bought broken ones from private persons and replaced the batterys, backcovers, faceplates, hdds and displays. Back then i was able to sell a 512gb refurbished iPod for ~400$.
The best profit is on custom orders, once i had a dj who wanted a gray ipod with 1tb ssd and a golden backcover, easy 900$. I think i go back in business, still got piles of new faceplates, displays, batterys and backcovers. ✌
What an awesome video! I did a similar thing with one of my 5th generation iPods some years ago when I replaced the stock 60 GB Hard Drive with a bigger one. I also have a silver 7th generation iPod that still works fine, but I am still going to order the replacement parts you recommend when it does finally die. Thanks so much for making this video!
Hey Juraiprince 👋 Thank YOU for watching! Oh man, you will notice a big difference when you try to open the 7th gen... buy the iSesamo blade (or similar) - it reeeally helps! Good luck! 🍀👍
Thank you@@GeekDetour for the kind words! I have that old 5th generation iPod that I mentioned. As a matter of fact, I have two of them! They are both dead right now, but you have inspired me to go ahead and rejuvenate them by ordering the parts for them! Thanks again, and I'm very glad that the present your wife gave you is still giving you joy! My wife had given me that 5th generation iPod that I mentioned above, and it has given me YEARS of joy, so I am going to restore it to its former glory😀! I have subscribed to your channel, and I will keep you posted on my progress!
Who else wants geek detour to narrate audio books? Specifically you would be an excellent children’s book reader i think. Might be out of left field but you have a great reading voice my guy
Ha ha, thank you so much! 😁 I really appreciate it - but I think it is never going to happen! English is not my native language and I make lots of silly mistakes while I am recording - the audio is actually highly edited! 🤔 Anyway, I loved your kind words ❣️
Hi there! Thank you so much for this! I didn’t want to replace my 10 year old beloved iPod and coming across your video I have just given it a new battery and SSD... works like brand new if not better! Just wanted to say thank you!
Geek Detour the hardest part was getting the case open, that took me about 45 minutes as I was trying to be so careful! Once it was open I had the new battery and new SSD in within 10 minutes! The only thing I’d recommend to anyone else trying it is make sure your SSD is the right way up... I was getting quite frustrated it wasn’t working then realised I’d put it in upside down haha!
Thanks so much for your guide! I was able to easily replace the battery on my 7th Gen iPod Classic using the PDF as a guide for the retaining clips. Great suggestion for the iSesamo tool, made the job seem almost too easy :D
Thank you Randy! I am happy to know that! It amazes me the amount of people who watched this video - many of them said they never even had iPods!!!! In the end, mos people watch if just for entertainment - but I made the video thinking of people like you. So I hope you can enjoy your iPod for many more years!
I just found my ipod classic again after 3 years missing. Hurrah and it still worked. Your video was encouraging and informative. Thanks for it. When I need the information i will certianly use it.
Although I have a Fiio which is great and can store up to 256GB on two SD cards I too am nostalgic about the iPod classic. I have two. I'm going to attempt this (already have the case open) and if I'm successful I will have a go at the other. I say I have two. I also have a fully functional iPod classic 160GB and an earlier generation 30 GB model which also works. Sounds a bit overkill but, well, you know..boys and their toys....
Yeah, I almost gave up in the process... Now I feel lucky because so many people are enjoying the video - it ended up being more useful 😁
I still have my 7th gen iPod and use it frequently. I take pride in owning my physical music collection and the iPod represents the portable version of it.
chief I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out some of the organizational quirks in iTunes. Spent a lot of time manually adding single track artwork to albums, too.
Ever since I was 14 years old and was gifted a classic 160gb that's all i use to this day I'm 28 know. Happy with my ipod! Great video thanks for the tips.
Spot on !! Love my iPod classic 7th Gen 120Gb and yes I want to OWN my music and not store it online and spend money on DATA to list to my own music! Love the video, thank you. Seen I will have to replace battery on mine as well.
Thank you YogiSip! I hope you can replace the battery easily - the iFlash upgrade is not hard to do, just buy one of the recommended cards and you should be fine. Good luck! 🍀👍
Geek Detour thx. I did not even know it is possible to update iPod with flash. I know batteries for a number of devices are difficult to find. Glad I found this video as it will help me.
I'm a vinyl collector but I still have two iPod Classic and they still work properly. One is mounted on a BW Zeppelin in my office and the other one is my device for emergency music when I'm out and about for work. Thank you for sharing your experience and memories
Hey Stefano, my pleasure man! It is very rewarding to me when people also share their experiences here in the comments as well - it is so interesting to see how the same device gets to be something precious in different ways for different people. Thanks and welcome to the channel!
When my iPoad Classic 160Gb have a broken harddrive, i failed to open the case properly, and ended with a extreme solution: smash it with hammer. A week later I buy a used iPod Touch with a good price $30 from my friends. Learning no. 1: having a bad mood and tired when try fixed delicate gadget, always ended with disaster!
I upgrade my iPod classic with a actual SSD and a much bigger battery. It was all good, but I only got a 32G SSD which is not big enough anymore. And there aren’t many new SSD for iPod anymore. So I just stuck with a 32G iPod classic.
@@user-hs2hd7wp9g Sorry, but no it's not. Most people easily get distracted from seeing apps and clutter. You think to yourself, "i could just check it on my phone" and then you browse something which leads to another etc etc. When I studied for my medical boards, there's no way that an iPhone would have served the same purpose. It's offline cold storage. It's also something which Apple should have never gotten rid of.
I love so much this video. I have the same feeling... owning my music and listen to it without ads. I'm thinking about creating my own version of an iPod including coding my own software from scratch.
Thank you so much for the kind and cozy words ❤️ I don’t know if making a dedicated MP3 played is worth the effort nowadays, but when we love something, does it matter?! I would love to see it.
My iPod Video (5th Gen) has a sad story, In 2005, my dad decided to give my mom an iPod! R bought it, it arrived, my mom opened it and said “what is that” my dad tell her what it is and she tries it out, and thinks it’s too complicated to use. So it was left for years!!! Then I found it 12 years later, no scratches mint condition. The issue was it wouldn’t turn on, it makes a buzzy noise when you plug in the 30 pin cable, and what is it?? I think it’s sad it just got left. But hey it’s 80 gigs
Hey 👋 wow! I hope you can put it back to work - it is certainly a very nice piece to keep. The battery is most likely dead after so many years uncharged. The noise and some little vibration might come from the hard disk spinning (should be something very subtle). I recommend you to find someone experienced in repairing iPods - if it is so pristine, it would be a chame to damage it. Good luck! 🍀👍
Hello, I opened it before but I didn’t find any corrosion on the board of the iPod itself, I hope it’s just the battery and the hard drive, I do have a iPod Nano 5th gen with 8GB Of storage, i only use that iPod for running and gym since it’s only 8GB in storage which can’t have my whole music library!! So I really hope they iPod Video will work after a battery replacement, hopefully it’s easy to open!! I used a cheap opener from a battery replacement from my uncle did on his iPod and it worked fine to open it! I will use the iFlash card, I forgot it’s a 60GB and my music library is 36GB so that’s also good, hope your iPod will last forever!
Thank you for your video even after 5 years! I was able to get inside thin 6th gen within 20 minutes and few cuts on my fingers! iSesamo was hard to get to my country, but with iFlash's similar tools it was quite easy! I bought two of them, and destroyed quite a few thin guitar pics :D
It is amazing how these tools and mods are still available and there are still a lot of people taking care of their precious old iPod Classics! Thank you for telling me your experience!
I just dug out my "old" ipod, the last generation they made, and I'm planning on trying to upgrade the battery and switch to the iflash memory. This is suuuuuuper helpful in learning how to do it without (hopefully) breaking anything! Thanks!!!
I'm going to try and revive my iPod Classic. Battery is just about dead and doesn't hold a charge. I'm now thinking after watching this video to replace the hard drive with 2 SD cards at the same time and try and have a 512GB iPod Classic. If I'm going to replace the battery it seems to make sense to replace the hard drive at the same time. Just about to order what I need.
@@GeekDetour Managed to do it thanks to this video. Printed off the pdf to show where the clips were. It is just the battery that I have changed and the disk in it seems fine. Might upgrade to a the SD cards at a later date but very happy I have my ipod back up and running. Thank You for this video

There are times I wish i had ordered spares way before mine died down
Time for a 2TB upgrade!

Well done. :)
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate it 🥰

I am really glad you create the opportunities to keep enjoying your iPod!
Amazing. :) I wish you many wonderful years of listening to music with your iPod.
thank you Kyle, very kind words - I appreciate! :)
My friend, this video is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have the exact same iPod and the exact same problems. I've been scared to work on it because I didn't want to ruin it. Another upgrade that would make it worth it is bluetooth.
Nah man. It will just not work because Apple does not have bluetooth support in their ipod os
nah retro games would
@@simonspasskiy ....

I still store my music and categorize it. I guess this is just an older generation approach but i just enjoy it
I semi organize my music... Some of it is in folders all clean and organized, the rest is just thrown into a folder with no order

Nothing truer has been said, “15 years ago , carrying your whole music collection, physically in your pocket was a daring idea. Now, it is just nostalgic”. I feel so old lol
Thank you! 😁 But we are not old! We are... Classic?! 🤣

I have one of those iMacs! Picked it up for $40 secondhand working perfectly

It is 2021 and I still use my Classic! :) This video helped a lot to exchange the battery! Thank you!
Hey Martin 👋 I am really happy the video helped you 😁 Thanks for letting me know!

2019 and I'm about to start the same project... Greetings from France!
I'm glad I came across your channel :)

I upgrade my iPod classic with a actual SSD and a much bigger battery. It was all good, but I only got a 32G SSD which is not big enough anymore. And there aren’t many new SSD for iPod anymore. So I just stuck with a 32G iPod classic.
@coco nut Not so much, just found out people are still selling SSD for iPod on Taobao. A little bit expensive than SD card adapter + SD card.
iPod is awesome if you want to remain offline for productivity purposes.
I know what you mean! And notifications were created by Devil himself :) ha ha ha
enable airplane mode, same as an iPod
@@user-hs2hd7wp9g Sorry, but no it's not. Most people easily get distracted from seeing apps and clutter. You think to yourself, "i could just check it on my phone" and then you browse something which leads to another etc etc. When I studied for my medical boards, there's no way that an iPhone would have served the same purpose. It's offline cold storage. It's also something which Apple should have never gotten rid of.
Geek Detour whats your mean????
I love so much this video. I have the same feeling... owning my music and listen to it without ads. I'm thinking about creating my own version of an iPod including coding my own software from scratch.
Thank you so much for the kind and cozy words ❤️ I don’t know if making a dedicated MP3 played is worth the effort nowadays, but when we love something, does it matter?! I would love to see it.
I don't like cloud storage either... Though I use it, I still backup copies on DVD's (Remember those shiny round disks? Lol) and extra SSD drive.
I still remember that plate
Wow! Dope your style is amaizong loved the video..
Thank you! Editing takes forever, thought, ha ha ha. Welcome to the channel!
My iPod Video (5th Gen) has a sad story,
In 2005, my dad decided to give my mom an iPod!
Hi again, I recorded a video to you, it’s recorded by a cell phone, nothing special! Just hear closely: ua-cam.com/video/XeKoPpUfHAg/v-deo.html
@@DanishSpeakerChannel definitely a dead hard drive.
*ipod explodes*
“So I found a replacement of the iPod”
I have over 26,700 songs stored in my Mac mini and MacBook Pro (external Samsung T5 1TB SSD for the MacBook Pro)
Similar setup here. Although I'm using a 400 gb micro SD card on my 2017 MacBook Air.
I have a 6th generation 80gb iPod Classic which is literally in my pocket right now
I just dug out my "old" ipod, the last generation they made, and I'm planning on trying to upgrade the battery and switch to the iflash memory. This is suuuuuuper helpful in learning how to do it without (hopefully) breaking anything! Thanks!!!
Hey 👋 my pleasure! I hope you can revamp your iPod easily and enjoy it for many more years! Have patience when opening it and good luck! 🍀👍
Hi Chris! Good luck on your repair!
@@GeekDetour Managed to do it thanks to this video. Printed off the pdf to show where the clips were. It is just the battery that I have changed and the disk in it seems fine. Might upgrade to a the SD cards at a later date but very happy I have my ipod back up and running. Thank You for this video
Only need to do the Latter if you are wanting more battery life.
Omg. I'm Brazilian and I was wondering what album was that at 1:30. Do you speak Portuguese or study our culture?
Shut up! Just discovered you are Brazilian. Your English is really good. Congrats for the channel!
