@@ThatDudeinBlue Your predictions were right. I wanted to remain skeptical but the more I analytically dove into it the more those predictions made sense. Like I could live with them sure... but this is just from an appearance standpoint alone, not an Integra. I don't pick up anything that reminds me of it being an Integra from the body design. It truly resembles an ILX, Civic, or a 4 Door Mustang from the sides, and the rear looks like a Genesis. The shortstop of that is you've got this $30,000 base price. Considering other options out there, you've got better-looking vehicles that will perform just as well if not better in all likeliness. In terms of every other point, you went off on I agree. Going forward I'm not even certain Acura will even attempt a Type S model. If they do it's only going to have an even higher fan expectation if there is to be any fan expectation left after this. Just going to have to see how the ball rolls from here on out.
Just a brief update I'd like to add to this but is the Japanese Market going to get the same vehicle? If not do you think they'd get say a Coupe Type S/R? And if so I'd imagine it'd have to be good as Integra has an even stronger following in Japan than here in the US. If that truly is the case, albeit this is speculative would Acura give us the same vehicle in the US, especially after seeing the demand/backlash from the community? I'd like to think so considering their rough sales figures because they are struggling this year in a dire way. Know this is a stretch but we've seen where the Japanese Market gets these cool car versions while we don't. And in this scenario, I just can't picture Acura sitting ideally by and letting it pass given how bad their sales portfolio has been. So I do believe we'll get a Coupe, though how much later than the Japanese Market I couldn't say. Could be 6 months could be as long as say 2 years. But I do believe they've got a Coupe designed at least for the Japanese Market. And if that is the case we need to pressure Acura to bring it to the US Market, and not a watered-down version. That's where I'm at right now. Would love to get some responses back if anybody takes the time to read this portion.

I’m sorry - that reveal had me in tears… and not the good kind. My first “legit” toy car was a 2001 GS-R. Friggin loved that car - sad day when I sold it back in 2004. If the new Integra resembled the Civic (which would be half-expected), THAT would have been a failure. The fact that it’s more comparable to an Accord is just plain criminal. 4 doors? Seriously, bro? C’mon, man!
Turbo aside, this thing is a huge whiff by Honda/Acura… and it’s especially painful for those who enjoyed the DC2 for the sport compact it was intended to be.
So glad I’m a Z32 owner now and have the Z35 to look forward to! Excellent job, as usually, David!

@@ThatDudeinBlue At least my Del Sol won't be the most hated Honda anymore.
Been watching your videos for quite some time but never commented before. This is one of those times I can't be silent. What a let-down. They painted a crossover in phoenix yellow and stamped it with the Integra logo. Obvious cash grab and not a new sports car tied to the Integra legacy. It's like putting "NSX" on the new CR-V. No thanks, Honda. I'll pass. Think I'll keep driving my 26 year old EG2. They didn't even give it the 2.0 L. I guess we'll have to wait for the Type-S to see if there's any hope for the modern Integra's future with enthusiasts.
Really appreciate your videos and reviews. They're a lot of fun to watch. :) I'm stoked to see your K-series EG build videos. Thinking maybe I'll do the same for my Del Sol. Thanks for all the time you put into these. I always look forward to them.

A fellow in an Integra group of which I am a part explained it best. If the Integra had never gone away and slowly morphed into this car over several generations (like the Civic), we’d have all accepted it. But as it stands, it’s like showing up at your 20-year class reunion only to discover that the former prom queen is now massively overweight. Similarly, the last time we saw an Integra, it was slim and lightweight, so it’s jarring to see such a shift.

I had the '94 GS-R, it was cheap, fast, and amazingly entertaining. If it had a a real flaw it was the rear suspension was not up to the rest of the car. That said, that 1.8l revving to 9K created one of the great sounds in engines. But make no mistake, it was a dressed up Civic with a nicer body.
So you shouldn't be surprised that the new integra is just a Civic with a different face. The real problem here is that there's nothing special about this car to recommend it over a Civic.

      1. Coupes are largely dead. Unless you own a Mazda, most manufacturers killed off their 2-door models some time ago.
      2. The Integra looks somewhat different, but the Acuras of old were just rebadged Hondas with different front and rear fascia and head / tail lights. So, that's kind of what's going on here.
      3. I agree, showing the Hondas and Integras of old was a mistake. It added to the pile of hype that people had created. I get why Acura did it, but it just didn't do them (or this car) any favors. Nothing about this car reminds me of the old Integras _or_ the RSX. If it didn't have the logo on the side, I wouldn't even know it was an Integra. And frankly, I feel Acura knows this, too, which is why I feel it's also mildly disrespectful.
      4. Again, those type of specialized cars are largely dead. Even the Civic Type-R is a versatile hatchback that sort of "does it all" (or almost). You're forgetting that the Integra was inherently a basic commuter car if you weren't going for the sport trim. The fact that this is already as sporty performance-wise as the SI but isn't even the Type-S version is rather significant when you compare it to the models of old.
My hope lies in the "Type S" or A-Spec model with a 2.0T engine and tweaked suspension, as well as exterior tweaks such as the kit cladding that the TLX A-Spec wears. This version as it was displayed on stage is, in my opinion, rather subpar in execution. I think it's already been said more than enough times that if this was anything _but_ an Integra, it wouldn't be such a vibe killer.
