As a casual D2 player but someone who bounced off D3 the seasons and battle pass confuses the hell out of me. If I have this right I need a new character to play the seasonal content which is 3 months. After 3 months that character is retired and I need a new character to play the next seasons content. The battle pass will give me some boosts and characterisation to my character while a premium battle pass will give me access to even more buffs and cosmetic content? Is that right? So if I only play occasionally does that mean I may never get far into the seasonal content before everything is wiped for the next season? Very confused.
@@swaminic To my knowledge the Battle Pass is designed to be possible to complete over the course of the three months, even if you are playing more casually. The Seasonal Blessings buffs are only available in the free tier, you do not need to purchase anything to access them. The premium tier is optional and only for cosmetic rewards.
@@Torresgamingchannel Agreed, as a casual player this makes sense. I don’t like paying for something and then being locked out of it after 3 months. Perhaps though if you play it that casually you won’t miss it anyway!
Not bashing you or anything but this is how this genre of ARPGs have been. I'm guessing this is your first Diablo/POE/LE style game? It's really not as bad as it sounds. By the time a new season rolls around its usually in line with when you're current build is fully finished and you're ready for a fresh start anyways. Look at it this way, I want to play each class so example preason I'll play rouge, S1 druid, S2 Sorc, S3 Barb, S4 Necro. Then S5 I'll play my favorite build or maybe the season will be focused around a class mechanic or new class drops. Each season is plenty of time to fully build out your current class. Hope this helps!
@@kr3515 yeah 1st diablo experience. I don't mind making new characters, but being forced to do it is a whole different situation than wanting to make a new one
@@michaeldrury6375 I get ya for sure. But you're not forced. Your og character or its progression never goes away. If you want to play a new season then yeah you're "forced" to start new but you can always bounce back and forth if you want. But again the time frame for new season is pretty close to when you'll probably be ready for a new build anyways, at least in my experience with previous diablo/similar games
I want to take 1 character on a complete seasonal journey, reading stats and creating your play style again is just tedious, not put in hours of work for it to be reset every 3 months , this is what will stop Diablo 4 from winning awards as soon as casuals realise they will just lose most of their customers, this is a poor system for retention
Wrong! the Items and the character will be transferred to the main world no seasonal, so you will have your stuff, New season new meta new competitive stuff that's how it works in POE, and that's why they are implementing it you decide if want to join the seasonal content is not mandatory. Here is some info from the interviews with the devs. Seasons in Diablo 4 will be quarterly, with the first coming in “mid to late July” - a matter of weeks after the game’s launch on June 22. You’ll need to complete the game’s campaign on one character before you can access it. The season will introduce fresh questlines, separate from the campaign narrative, as well as new gameplay features that will change the experience of leveling and developing your new character - all of which will be exclusive to the season and will be retired at the end of the three months. Your seasonal character, however, will be moved to the Eternal Realm at the end of the season, where it will remain playable. Each season will also bring standard patch content like balance changes and quality-of-life improvements.
So regarding seasons, will we have any point in playing our launch or maxed out players each subsequent season? So far it sounds like you lose all your progress every season as it’s relevant to the overall progress

New character every season is just dumb . I am still 70 and just having fun. It was a pain getting to 70. To start a new character all over again is going to be people farming exp in the same dungeon over and over. All content should be available
Thank you for explaining seasons to me. I just bought Diablo IV today. I played Diablo II a ton back when it was a current game a long time ago. I like that there are seasons but at the same time I would like it if there were some options in the eternal realm so that my character I made who I’m quite fond of already could still do stuff. However, even though I didn’t play Diablo III I did play Path of Exile and I got used to the Season concept. In that game they called them Leagues. I just hope that Blizzard makes it to where eternal realm characters in some way have stuff to do. Either way though i absolutely love this game and I’m not going to stop playing it. I’m already addicted to it. Also, as far as monetization goes I am not overly fond of getting rewarded more for spending more money when the game cost me 70 dollars to begin with. But the fact that you don’t get penalized for not buying special battle pass stuff is encouraging. Thank you for making this video. It was extremely informative.
My thoughts on this: If you like to change clothes often, pay for the premium battle bass. Then run after anyone who doesn't pay it in the game, and beg them to look at you. If you don't like to change cloths often, then just run because there is someone behind you begging you to stop and look at him.
Why do people think others utilize cosmetics for others to look at? Sure, there probably are people like that, but the more obnoxious are those obsessed with others seeing their name on leaderboards.
I'm the same way. I never understood seasons and starting fresh with a new character every season. COD has seasons and they don't make you start over with a new character. Never played seasons with ant Diablo game. Not starting now. Been single player and I'm ok with that.
@@317cmrogersbut won’t there come a point where you can’t progress any more? Or is it a never ending progression? Or at least won’t have any new items to grind for because they are all on the new season
@@johnfowler7289 there will definitely come that time, but that's why I think adding newer and more powerful items in the endgame for those maxed characters would be better content, rather than having to just start over to experience the new benefits of that content
I was looking forward to D4...not as enthused about it with the way Seasons are handled. Plenty of old MMO's demonstrated how new material can be introduced to End Game characters with challenges and rewards fitting their established progress. This sounds like a desperate attempt to manufacture longevity...how many characters are we expected to keep on our roster if we have to roll a new one every Season? Might let this one ride a full year before jumping in like I did with D3. Give them time to figure out their own way and likely get a better overall experience.
@@metallicafan416 I can appreciate that but after 17 years of WoW and keeping an army of alts at maximum level and reputation I'm done. I want to focus on a single character so I can enjoy other titles. For this I'll have to either make clones for every Season to get the unlockable content just to delete them when it's over or skip that content if it doesn't actually add to the progress of my Main.
Hmm I may be wrong here but if there are 4 Seasons per year, running at 3 months a time. Technically you would never have time to play your main character on Eternal Realm...? Unless you smash out the content, get the items/skins, and then go back to your main character on External with the loot etc. BUT if I remember rightly on D3, there were items that were not transferable and ended on that season. It depends on how long it will take to achieve/finish the season's content? (Also if you can transfer those items/skins halfway through a season or have to wait until the end? But if that were the case, you will be creating a new character again for the next batch of content, so stuck in a loop?)
Even if we dont play seasons as soon as they come out, I heard they do eventually come to the eternal realm aswell if that info is correct ? Hope so, dont want to make a character every 3 months, but also dont want to miss out on better gear aswell.
Say what you want about destiny as a game, but their seasonal model is extremely enticing, I Happily throw 10 (now 12) bucks every couple months at them because there’s a lot to offer, cosmetics, new weapons, new activity, xp boosts, all while allowing you to feel powerful and gain seasonal power (with the seasonal artifact) as the season goes on allowing you to feel like you have something to grind for but not having to start fresh. If I had to start fresh every season I’m very inclined to believe I would skip many seasons in destiny. The arpg style of fresh start may be the way of old but I am certain they will copy the destiny style progression as it will prove much more fruitful in the end. I do think however the first year of seasons fresh start is fine, since it allows players to test a new class each season, but at the end of the day the destiny style progression is just better and is likely to be something Diablo will look to copy in the interest of the games longevity.
Starting new characters each season sounds really lame. That would ruin the immersion. Blizzard keeps saying they don’t want to add a map overlay because it takes away immersion (I don’t think so), yet they don’t want you to stay immersed and connected to your character 🤨
@@ImmortalLinky But you can do that by simply creating multiple characters...Like right now? 😂 The whole "new seasons, new characters" ideology really is an alienating concept.
So if i don't make a new character for the season, i'll be missing out on every new content in that season? New story quest etc.? TBH they should just give the players some options other than this
That's exactly it. What's even worse, when the season ends you have to do it again. Ultimately never playing your character from last season, unless you want to roll back your content.
I guess the fresh character start is a good thing if we consider how hard it’ll be to respec a character post balancing. Hopefully, the grind isn’t as tedious, but then again ppl are already level 80 after just a week, me included
I'm fine with BP cost especially since it's not P2W. I hope that there's a reason to play your main in between seasons bc in D3 ur main is pretty dead and you just play a season and wait until the next. I would love an over arching reason to advance your main in between.
That is my biggest question. I’m going to invest a lot of time in the preseason into my main, so beyond endgame what will I be doing with my main character outside of the seasons? Anxious to see how this plays out.
I think the main reason someone will continue playing their main will be for the PVP (item hunting and optimization). *Fingers crossed that everything is good *
Thank you for explaining this to us. I was worried I was going to have to pay for battlepass, but now I see that it is pointless for a casual player like me. So thank you again for the ease of mind!
As long as its not pay 2 win i really dont mind how many different things they decide to sell. Like you said it helps fund further development and you really dont need to buy it if you dont want to
Well as a casual who does not have free 1000 hours i definitely do not want to restart with fresh characters every 3 months.....so there is no way to get season content or point of battlepass if i dont want to start over and over all the time?
I appreciate you explaining this, but not a fan of having to start anew with these seasons. I'd rather they just add content for our, likely maxed, characters to have🤷♂️
Agreed. I prefer a sytem that allows me to progress the "story" of the character I'm playing. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm not one to create multiple characters in RPGs. I actually like to role play one character and become that character througout the story.
I had no idea it was like this and will likely retire the game. I got diablo 3 ultimate years after release and never knew this was a mechanic. Im used to games just debuffing or raising the cap on something. Too many other games to play... 😂
It's like you said, hold Blizz to their promises. If the "Battle pass" situation becomes an obvious cash grab in a "pay to win scheme" then we let them have it with both barrels. If it's just cosmetic stuff which has absolutely nothing to do with game play or progression, then my opinion is, to each his/her own--it's your hard earned money, spend it as you wish. As long as it doesn't become necessary in game mechanics, or for some sort of in game "advantage" in GAME PLAY, then it really matters not.
@Apu Nahasapeemapetilon It's not constrained to cosmetics; there's a resource called 'Smoldering Ashes' which grant account-wide buffs for the duration of the current Battle-Pass. These buffs range from increased XP gains to increased gold from sales. It's not "just cosmetics".
Are there things we should do in this preseason at launch that will apply to our first seasonal character, or does everything get wiped and we have to redo everything at the start of the first season (altars of Lilith, dungeons for aspects, etc)?
Great video bro thank you. I just want this game to have longevity. It cost me 150$ after taxes in Canada. It's really no joke... Let's see what blizzard does for it
I also would want my character to be able to participate in the seasons. That would keep me buying these battle passes. Otherwise I am just going to use up the one included and stop buying them after that.
The seasonal content is like a competitive option but they took it to the next level if you want new content here is the season, if not just stay in the non seasonal server.
I would lpve to be given the options to bring characters into the new seasons. Maybe where you complete like the seasonal story or whatever and you get the option to bring em in after but it's not all bad I'll just be making a new class each season and focus on one at a time per season. At some point though I think it will get tiring
I feel the same people says that it was like this for very long time the mechanics so just suck it up. But I just can’t… I can not just let my character going to waste and start a new journey. I would start new class but not like forced like this
@Santos Vazquez They won't. All the whales will be season players. You might buy some stuff for your main but season people are gonna buy stuff for tons of character over years. $$$$$$$$
Quick Question! Please anyone and everyone who knows answer and help me out... Every season is a new toon, but main is main... my main is Rogue, my seasonal toon is always changing, if I buy a Cosmetic on seasonal, does my main have access to it? Via Transmog? I know class transmog is set but as a seasonal druid, can I buy a cosmetic for rogue? Or do I have to buy it as a rogue? Or is there an account stash for all my various toons? I'm confused 🤦♂️ please clear this up for me.🙏
To my knowledge, cosmetics purchased in the shop or acquired via the Battle Pass are account wide, but they are class specific. You should be able to purchase whatever you want, regardless of what class you actively are, it will just only be usable by that class.
I know there's supposed to be a skip main story option after beating it but will it help to go through on your new seasonal character? Or just straight into seasonal content?
I’m genuinely confused.. so if I play seasons, I get new content and new drops, weapons etc, can I use these drops in the next season? I’m guessing I can use it on my main character, but like, when would I ever get to enjoy my findings from the season if the next season starts right when the other one ends? Idk if I’m explaining my confusion correctly, i Havnt played since Diablo 2 and I was never crazy obsessed with it, but it was fun and thought I’d pick it up again with the release of D4. Thanks 🙏
I don't mind the fresh character start for the seasons if eventually after finishing and transferring i can put my new gear in the chest that will share with my main. I like the idea of another character in the world we could be seeing his/her story too.
But if you think about it…what’s the point of the “main character”. Like okay I’m transferring what I earned this season to my main..now what. Id like to do the new content with my main character.
@NoiosoBear I had good gear and build in every beta within days did u not ? Well i know how to play the game so il be good within the week but i will main Barb without the WW can't be bothered holding one button all game 😂 it's more fun actually fighting em
My thoughts ? Do we have to do the campaign all over again ? Do we need to get renown again ? What about the altars of lilith ? Hope I don't have to do all that every season.
Yeah, this game is designed like a typical open world game, which makes me worry for seasons. I’ve heard that we get the bonus stats from altars by default, but we still have to collect them for renown each season. I’m really dreading the idea of having to replay an open world game every 3 months, especially since they made the stash so tiny by default, I’m assuming to incentivize seasonal play or mtx. I hate these recent monetization trends that try to make so many decisions for you. Like yeah, you could make a rogue now, but do you really wanna redo all of that exploration when you could hold off until the next season where you’ll have to do it all again to unlock some extra stash space? I miss being able to play games at my own pace without being punished.
@@MufazaPT Yeah, that’s a nice touch even if I understand the folks saying it goes against the spirit of a new season. It really alleviates my worries, and I’m looking forward to how they tweak this game over the coming years after they’ve had a chance to fix the major bugs. Still gonna be a daunting renown grind, so I probably won’t play every season, but maybe they’ll tune it down the road if they find that’s needed.
I just started playing yesterday and this might be a really stupid question but is the battle pass also not available for that first character or do you need to reach a certain level to unlock it?
Zero issue with how they're doing the battlepass. At least for me, cosmetics have never particularly concerned me. I've never gone out of my way to collect them, or particularly noticed what others might look like in-game. Now I have a friend who IS into cosmetics and he's frustrated by it simply because he believes that cool cosmetics being linked to completing some kind of tough task are much better than simply pay to own. The whole 'finish X raid and win that charm that looks so cool' attitude if you know what I mean.
If i start a new seasonal char, and i complete whole season stuff before 3 months, can i send it to eternal realm ahead or i have to wait till the season ends? I would like to be able to swap equip between chars, i don't like the idea to play a new char, then when season ends it goes into retirment like an old granny, start another one, then rinse and repeat. I'm worried this game will be focused too much on this seasons only because they need to monetize.
I dont think theyll do something like that. As they seemed to say that the convenience level of both battlepass and free play will be the same. But i guess we will find out next month. Either way, im just going to stock with free seasonal playthrough.
If season one starts, do you have to replay the campagin? If not, how do you level up your char? Through dungeons? Or do you really play the campaign 4 times a year?
Seasons offer new quests and storylines. Besides that, once you complete the campaign once every character you create from there can skip the story. You’ll level with all of the available content: dungeons, side quests, cellars, world events, etc.
Thank you for breaking it down. So much BS out of camp Blizzard makes it confusing. After watching this video, there is no way I purchase this game, especially at its insane price. You saved me tons of money, thank you!
The way i would have done Seasons would of been a new and Better way, I would have added it into the World tier system, so After World tier 4, There would be World tier season 1, this would be harder then world tier 4 and each seasons adds 10-20 to the level cap, you would have to beat each seasons capstone dungeons in order to move on to the next season when it gets added, so say Season 10 is out, and you just started playing the game, you would have to beat the game on World Tier 4 first, then work your way from World tier season 1-2-3-4-5 etc and beat them all before you can even play in season 10, so that way everyone can still replay every season it would be really cool and there would be no need for wipes because each season makes the game harder and harder
this battle pass model I'm familiar with from apex at least the give back the coins to buy it back but destiny on there hand you need to buy anew one everytime
So what about story continuity? Are the seasons any narrative to them or is this purely a loot grind thing? And if there is narrative, are we ever going to be able to play it on our main characters? Yes, I’m one of those guys who plays loot grind games almost purely for the lore. It’s a curse. 😰
I think we shouldn’t be force to make a new character. I feel we should if the option. If you want to start new, fine, but if you don’t want to, also fine.
That's fine that they want to do seasons, I'm okay with this and I would support the battle pass if it was for my playing character's benefit, which it is not! Nothing carries over if I am understanding this right. I understand people have to get paid, I understand the reason for the battle pass. I just don't understand why we can't support the game with our first created people instead of making them over and over again until your hard drive fills up with your people.
So what if I create a new char on lets say season 2 and they made some classchanges and new aspects, then when it retires and goes to the eternal realm, are those changes still on that char or will it kinda convert to the vanilla eternal gameplay? Thanks for the video!!!
Appreciate very much for the explanation! 🙏🙏 The character will be back to the "non-season area", then how about the gears and all the items on the characters?
So, do we know if we have to do the renown all over again? unlock our mount? Redo all dungeons to unlock the aspects? Re-Discover every part of the map? Lilith Statues? Im sorry but some of these will keep me from wanting to play to often If i have to redo these annoying tasks every time
These have not outright been confirmed, but as far as mounts are concerned completing the campaign allows you to bypass it for all future playthroughs so mounts should remain unlocked as they are tied to the campaign.
So then what's the point of having a main character, right? Might as well wait for the season to start and play it then? Kinda bummed characters don't carry over to other seasons.
@The Order of Dylan That's good to know. So the season events will be a good way to make different characters and try out other classes? Sounds fun! 😀👍
guys i have a doubt, so when the season bring new dungeon , boss and gear, then i will have those things also in eternal server? i mean thoae things that season adds then remains in the eternal server?
How does over all progression for seasons work on battle pass cosmetics. I would hope as you unlock them it’s account wide. OR it’s only able to be used on that character from that specific season…
If my seasonal character converts to eternal at end of season, what happens to access to the seasonal content (plague hearts, quests, bosses)? Does my converted (seasonal to eternal) character only see that content and not my original eternal character, OR does all seasonal content open at end of season to ALL eternal characters?
As of now, renown will reset each season. Altars of Lilith bonuses will not. www.wowhead.com/diablo-4/news/diablo-iv-interview-summary-time-to-level-100-paragon-board-details-post-launch-332416
I love when my favorite games get more support as long as blizz doesn’t get over greedy I’m fine with it if Diablo 3 got proper support it would be such a great game at this point
Wow! I'm new to Diablo and all this talk of Seasons and Battle Pass has been very confusing. You explained these concepts very well. Well done! BTW: Micro transactions, as long as they don't give any sort of player advantage, no pay-to-play, then I'm OK with that. As long as it is optional, it's up to everyone if they want to pay money for these cosmetics. I won't, so I'm glad Seasons are free. I do buy DLC of games I really like.
I agree, actually it reminds me a bit of the way Destiny 2 deals with seasons. But I do wish each season would introduce a small progression in the story up to any potential new expansions.
I'm glad they're bringing in the battle pass to support continuous developments for the game. My biggest gripe with D2 was the total lack of a seasonal ladder, patches, or updates until LoD was released. I remember three months after LoD was released the devs were homeless and again unable to support a seasonal ladder, updates or patches. Thankfully Blizzard will be directing 100% of the proceeds from the shop and the battle pass to the developers so we can expect these basic services on a recurring basis.
What a bunch of bs. There are plenty of examples where games continuously add content and expansions to their game without any need of abusive in-game shops. As long as you make and keep the game fun, there will always be new players buying the game and keeping income up. Activision Blizzard just wants to squeeze as much cash out of people like you as they can, because its super easy money. Thats why every mobile game is 80% cash shop, 20% gameplay, and now that they are bringing the cash grabbing mechanics to PC AAA games, you even make up excuses for why they should get more money from you. Lol.
The mechanic for season may be standard for diablo, but just why? Looks like a cash grab in the long run. Especially with booster items that boost exp and game currency boost in the battle pass....
a reincarnation system like in DDO will help this game last longer but it needs to be progresion so if u get to lvl cap u get like 1stat/1tree/4paragon ish free points to spend for when u reset back to lvl1 & they can let u jump into ladder without the alt spam.. its a good endless growth system+ thy might want to add gear scaling to so u can set your gear to your lvl & share it with alts upgrade downgrade or symbiotic mod slot.. its WIN WIN. less alt/data bloat or if they make new classes every ladder that might help to but not a real fix in the long run....
They have been doing this literally since Diablo 2. It was called Ladder and Non Ladder. It’s always been like this. From someone who has hundreds of hours in Diablo 3, season mode is very fresh way to play and try different builds and gear. The game gets really boring when you’re just min/maxing slight stats at the higher end of the late game.
What is wrong with having to pay for an expansion ? we have always done that before in games.. where is the money to run servers and develop the game/expansions supposed to come from if not? Its ordenary people that needs a sallery that works for Blizzard that needs to also buy food...
So in short, dont get attached to your character or your progress because its all gonna be wiped anyway? Im worried about spending a bunch of time on my first character then having it all be for nothing. Or what if i join one season late? If i dont finish it before the next season, I cant continue it or what?
@Fathi Izzan I don't mind making a new character for each season, that's whatever. What I do mind is if for example, season 3 comes out, but I didnt get to finish the content of season 2. Is that content just completely locked out now? I can't revisit it to finish it?
@eveyone that disagrees with the battle pass. Blizzard has been developing Diablo 4 since 2014 ( more aggressively over the last 4 years or so ). So that’s roughly 7-9 years of development costs. Games have become exceedingly more expensive to develop over the years. D3 was the most expensive PC game to be developed when it released ( gives some perspective ). These teams don’t just jump from one project to another, they pay specific groups of development to work on specific titles. The quality of the game depends on how many people they have working on it and additionally, most importantly, how much money the producers and investors are willing to allocate for said game. It is in our BEST interest that Blizzard pays the devs to continue creating more content for D4, not just to finish the game, but to continue funding the D4 teams for years to come. If Blizzard were to NOT include the battle pass, they would only make back the development cost plus a profit which would maybe cover another 6-months of new content at the most. Including the battle pass system will allow Blizzard’s D4 teams to be funded for years to come which will allow them to continue producing new game content, monthly updates, DLC, and seasonal content. We don’t want them to have to resort to cutting quality of content. That would suck. I 100% support the battle pass and cosmetic transactions. I plan on playing for a long time, so I’ll support it
Cosmetics are account wide. Actual gear will be tied to your seasonal characters until they transfer to the Eternal Realm at the conclusion of the season.
hi i have a doubt, seasons are a nice thing, but this is a mmo and i would like to play the new dungeons and boss with my main character and get new gear for that character, so that is not possible?
No you can play your main character whenever. You are not locked into playing the seasonal content. Eternal Realm and Seasonal Realm operate simultaneously. You can play whatever whenever.
I think the way they are going about the battlepass is the best way a dev can do it. No pay to win, just cosmetics. I think people have been traumatized by other dev's practices, but we should give these guys a chance. From everything I've heard them say, I have no problem with it at all, especially considering the game will be live service and they will be pumping out years of content for free. I also have no problem paying for expansions, given that they are robust enough. I don't believe in asking people to work for free just because I paid them for prior labor one time.
New character for each season. Your current characters will exist in the Eternal Realm, and when seasons end, your seasonal characters will be sent over to the Eternal Realm to live on.
@@TheOrderofDylan i mean is my season character affecting my main char? like hidden stat increases for your entire family of chars or something i can use on my main char? for example in bdo u have seasons too and u have to create seasonal chars too but at the end u can claim some rewards that your main char can use therefore playing seasons is pretty much a must in bdo.
No, assuming you’ve completed the campaign on your main character you’ll be able to skip the campaign and jump right into leveling via all other sources as well as new seasonal quests
They will probably allow you to use your old character by clicking "Rebirth" like in D3 currently. Just obviously not with the gear and lvl :D And the season pass is basically a 1 to 1 copy from Cod like it was all this years.
what is the rebirth? and why that would be better than create a new character but same class? ( is just a question cause i dont know how it work). i mean if i enjoy my main for example druid and im lvl cap and want to progress more and more and play the new dungeon, i cant?
@@marcorossoni7425 because its better than making new characters to take up the roster, id rather have one character and rebirth him per season, id also like to keep all my none paid cosmetics from in game gear my character found, new characters just suck, people in gaming tend to get attached to their character, which is why people hate having to ditch them. The rebirth system was great so i personally hope they'll use it.
I hope i can clear some things up for some of you. After reading a good portion of the comments, it's clear a lot of you have never played this style game before, let alone Diablo. There's nothing wrong with it but youre getting worked up over nothing. Let me explain... For starters there is no P2W by buying new gear, gets kinda old hearing this lol. Everything is farmed. Yes, the new seasons are a fresh start. This is nothing new in this genre of game. Each season starts pretty close to being in line with when your current build is finished(there is an end point for your build to a degree). 99% of people who play this style of game look forward to playing every class at least once. Example preseason play Sorc, S1 Barb, S2 Necro, S3 Druid, S4 Rouge, S5 maybe a new class is out or now you can play your favorite class with any new mechanics that are introduced. Just in the first 5 seasons thats 15 months of game play alone, not including any dlc. Imo thats a good amount of playtime for 70 bucks. Plus by this time im sure youll see the point of the fresh start for each season. Additionally, you can always play your OG character at any time and yuu can skip the campaign once you beat it the first time.
Ok down the road seasons maybe ok (but i personally prefer same character progression) but for season 1 no way average player maxes his character and we only have 1.5 month or less bedore season 1 starts. I guess they will introduce seasonal characters in season 2 the earliest.
Give me your honest thoughts on the battle pass and monetization in Diablo 4.
I wish that if you payed for season pass, you would get all of it at the end of the season even if you didn’t unlock it all. You payed for it.
@@TheOrderofDylan This answers some of my concerns. Thanks!
@@Torresgamingchannel Agreed, as a casual player this makes sense. I don’t like paying for something and then being locked out of it after 3 months. Perhaps though if you play it that casually you won’t miss it anyway!
thanks for breaking this down and getting to the point, lots of influencers making 25 minute videos on stuff that takes 5 minutes to explain
there's no way I'm making a new character every season. lol
I’m used to how Destiny does seasons, where you get all this new loot, quests, and challenges, but you’re still rolling with the same characters.
@K R being forced to start a new character to participate in seasonal activities is my issue. I should be able to use what ever character I want
I agree
Wrong! the Items and the character will be transferred to the main world no seasonal, so you will have your stuff, New season new meta new competitive stuff that's how it works in POE, and that's why they are implementing it you decide if want to join the seasonal content is not mandatory.
@@souleatergeas And just like in POE the standard server is just a character graveyard in Diablo will be the same.
It works for Path of Exile, and this system was literally copy and pasted from that game.
Thats why I say, I bet it will change after awhile

My thoughts on this:
If you like to change clothes often, pay for the premium battle bass. Then run after anyone who doesn't pay it in the game, and beg them to look at you. If you don't like to change cloths often, then just run because there is someone behind you begging you to stop and look at him.
🤣

Why do people think others utilize cosmetics for others to look at? Sure, there probably are people like that, but the more obnoxious are those obsessed with others seeing their name on leaderboards.
I never have or will play seasons in anything. I'm a one character dude. Barbarian all the way. One character throughout the games life.
Sad
I'm the same way. I never understood seasons and starting fresh with a new character every season. COD has seasons and they don't make you start over with a new character. Never played seasons with ant Diablo game. Not starting now. Been single player and I'm ok with that.
Yeah I want to keep improving the character I'm invested in. No drive to start over again after maxing them out
@@317cmrogersbut won’t there come a point where you can’t progress any more?
Obviously I’m jumping in at launch still, but I 100% agree about how other RPGs handle seasons just makes way more sense on paper.
I like trying different classes and unique builds. Seasons are perfect for that
@@metallicafan416 I can appreciate that but after 17 years of WoW and keeping an army of alts at maximum level and reputation I'm done. I want to focus on a single character so I can enjoy other titles. For this I'll have to either make clones for every Season to get the unlockable content just to delete them when it's over or skip that content if it doesn't actually add to the progress of my Main.
Characters reroll every season?? Fml
I mean, this isn't new in the Diablo franchise. I would've been more shocked had they actually changed this.
Yeah man, we will be stuck in the loop like rats on a wheel.
Even if we dont play seasons as soon as they come out, I heard they do eventually come to the eternal realm aswell if that info is correct ? Hope so, dont want to make a character every 3 months, but also dont want to miss out on better gear aswell.
is this true? i want to main a character and not always create a new one
Yeah but u gotta wait for 3 months after season ended then they'll add those stuffs in the eternal realm.
Gotta milk those "content" longer to make their playerbase stay 😂
lol that was diablo 3 too wdym?
wdym that’s how it’s been for awhile we’ve always made knew characters it also gives you the chance to use classes you hadn’t used and want to try
@@ImmortalLinky But you can do that by simply creating multiple characters...Like right now? 😂 The whole "new seasons, new characters" ideology really is an alienating concept.
@@Tanezoner cause a new game is out silly goose
So if i don't make a new character for the season, i'll be missing out on every new content in that season? New story quest etc.?
TBH they should just give the players some options other than this
That's exactly it. What's even worse, when the season ends you have to do it again. Ultimately never playing your character from last season, unless you want to roll back your content.
I guess the fresh character start is a good thing if we consider how hard it’ll be to respec a character post balancing. Hopefully, the grind isn’t as tedious, but then again ppl are already level 80 after just a week, me included
best explanation, by anyone
It's useless even if your not a casual player. All the progress made is useless and gives nothing for long term really
I'd rather they just add content for our, likely maxed, characters to have🤷♂️
They'll do that too.
Agreed. I prefer a sytem that allows me to progress the "story" of the character I'm playing. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm not one to create multiple characters in RPGs. I actually like to role play one character and become that character througout the story.
@@carlphillips3876 same here
I had no idea it was like this and will likely retire the game.
We already know it's only cosmetics. Please delete your comment. Delete your UA-cam account, cancel your internet, and disappear. K thanks.
@Apu Nahasapeemapetilon its not only cosmetic i think there is xp boost advantages too.
Altars and Codes of Power will not reset.

@@souleatergeas That's exactly what I plan on doing. I'll do the one that came with my game as I got the digital, then that's it, no more.
I would lpve to be given the options to bring characters into the new seasons. Will I have to make a new character for season 1? I'm hoping I can use my launch character for AT LEAST the 1st season.
The expectation is you’ll roll a new character for the first seasonal realm content.

Quick Question!
Please anyone and everyone who knows answer and help me out...

You need to complete the campaign to access the seasonal content ;)

No, you won’t have to do the campaign on any seasonal characters if you don’t want to.

Seasonal characters will become Eternal characters at the end of the season :)
You'll have 10+ or more characters sitting on Eternal realm once Diablo4 have more seasons so have fun 😂

@@amyyost7022 atleast now we dont have to do the altars or unlock the map, also the tp's to the main city of each region, can't complain now xD
@@MufazaPT Yeah, that’s a nice touch even if I understand the folks saying it goes against the spirit of a new season.
The Battle Pass will be a part of the first season, beginning sometime in July.
@@TheOrderofDylan ahhhhhhhh, that explains alot 😅 Thanks for the answer!

Im mean if there is any problem or any missing loot or anything if i play the same character all the seasons?
To be clear with you .. is my gear and loot will be reset or my level or whatever in the barbarian if i play it like for 5 seasons?!
Im just worried with "convenience" starts creeping in the battlepass. Faster mounts, mount with shops on them etc etc
@@TheOrderofDylan Thanks!
I think the way they're doing this is really quite exciting
Seasons will have their own quests and theming, you will have to play a new separate character to engage with those quests.
that means we will start now...July come season 1 and we need to create a new character? I won't even be level 100 by that time....LOL
Assumption is those changes will carry over into the Eternal Realm when the season ends.
Appreciate very much for the explanation! 🙏🙏
The character will be back to the "non-season area", then how about the gears and all the items on the characters?
So, do we know if we have to do the renown all over again? unlock our mount? Redo all dungeons to unlock the aspects? Re-Discover every part of the map? Lilith Statues? Im sorry but some of these will keep me from wanting to play to often If i have to redo these annoying tasks every time
These have not outright been confirmed, but as far as mounts are concerned completing the campaign allows you to bypass it for all future playthroughs so mounts should remain unlocked as they are tied to the campaign.
@TheOrderofDylan that's something, at least. I guess we will see what they land on with everything else.
So after the season does your character keep all the loot/items gained? Also does the none season game level up the BP?
Yes and yes.
the look is sharable with all characters?
Player should choose if they want to start from the beginning not blizzard!
What's the point in leveling and grinding a character on the Eternal realm then, can they only access different content? Sorry I'm new to Diablo 😕
Still have access to all endgame content, world tiers, nightmare dungeons, PVP, etc
@@TheOrderofDylan Thx 👍
So then what's the point of having a main character, right? Might as well wait for the season to start and play it then? Kinda bummed characters don't carry over to other seasons.
So if you have a different new character for each season, do you still keep tye character you start the main game with as well?
Yes, those characters exist in the Eternal Realm and can be played anytime there.
The specific seasonal mechanic, in this case the hearts, will not carry over. Future seasonal mechanics may carry over.
That necromancer premium outfit looked cool as hell, tho.
So when seasons start our renown will not carry over, ie +1 skill points, +1 potions, and +4paragon points?
As of now, renown will reset each season. Altars of Lilith bonuses will not.

So are the cosmetics usable on your main non seasonal character?
Yes, this was confirmed in the dev stream.
Thanks for this explanation bro, im quitting D4 right now 😅
Can you obtain that much currency back from the battlepass that you can buy another after new season or there won't be enough currency?
Highly unlikely. My guess is there’s enough premium currency to outright buy a cosmetic from the shop.
Judging by overwatch 2, they won’t. After a total of four seasons. You can afford a new skin from the shop.
so when a new season starts it will be a free update, do i understand that correctly? i dont NEED the battlepass to get the new seasons?
Correct. Battle Pass is just there for cosmetics.
will we get to keep paragon?
do the skins you buy carry over to new seasons? I know your character doesn't but how about the skins?
Yes this was mentioned in the May livestream, they are account wide.
Hardcore characters won't be transferred to eternal will they?
Do you need to have finished all the acts to play in seasons?
It’s not a requirement.
To be clear, the boost items (Ashes) are on the free track of the battle pass.
a reincarnation system like in DDO will help this game last longer but it needs to be progresion so if u get to lvl cap u get like 1stat/1tree/4paragon ish free points to spend for when u reset back to lvl1 & they can let u jump into ladder without the alt spam.. its a good endless growth system+ thy might want to add gear scaling to so u can set your gear to your lvl & share it with alts upgrade downgrade or symbiotic mod slot.. its WIN WIN. less alt/data bloat or if they make new classes every ladder that might help to but not a real fix in the long run....
Just make new character every season bro 😢
I plan on playing for a long time, so I’ll support it
Will i be able to use my seasonal gear on my external character
Cosmetics are account wide. Actual gear will be tied to your seasonal characters until they transfer to the Eternal Realm at the conclusion of the season.
@@TheOrderofDylan k thnx, im still nervous about my character
hi i have a doubt, seasons are a nice thing, but this is a mmo and i would like to play the new dungeons and boss with my main character and get new gear for that character, so that is not possible?
No you can play your main character whenever. You are not locked into playing the seasonal content.
Eternal Realm and Seasonal Realm operate simultaneously. You can play whatever whenever.
@@TheOrderofDylan yes but i mean, i can play the new content and get new gear and mechanics on my eternal?
Nice Rogue Galaxy on the collection right there ;)
I think the way they are going about the battlepass is the best way a dev can do it.
So you can keep the cosmetics from the seasonal events into you're main character?
Yes, cosmetics are account wide, for each class.
Quality information as always, Diablyan.
Is it possible to use your character created now, in the coming seasons or will you have to make a new character every time? 🤔
New character for each season. Your current characters will exist in the Eternal Realm, and when seasons end, your seasonal characters will be sent over to the Eternal Realm to live on.
but does my normal main character benefit from me playing another char on the season server?
How do you mean by benefit?
@@TheOrderofDylan i mean is my season character affecting my main char? like hidden stat increases for your entire family of chars or something i can use on my main char? for example in bdo u have seasons too and u have to create seasonal chars too but at the end u can claim some rewards that your main char can use therefore playing seasons is pretty much a must in bdo.
Great video you inspired me
I love seasons in Diablo because it gives me a reason to try different builds.
So whenever a new season starts, I create a new season character and play through the same story again?
No, assuming you’ve completed the campaign on your main character you’ll be able to skip the campaign and jump right into leveling via all other sources as well as new seasonal quests
So its just for cosmetic stuff?
$10 for a battle pass isn't a big deal it's like 1 meal at McDonald's these days
Wished they woulda gone a different route tbh. Renown/open world conflicts with seasonal resets
I won’t be playing past season 1. And now I don’t care about reaching lvl 100 pre season 1. I’m lvl 73 atm. It makes maxing out a character pointless.
They will probably allow you to use your old character by clicking "Rebirth" like in D3 currently. Just obviously not with the gear and lvl :D And the season pass is basically a 1 to 1 copy from Cod like it was all this years.
Explain to me how you change the concept of a season/battle pass. Its how this system works for every game basically
what is the rebirth? and why that would be better than create a new character but same class?
Additionally, you can always play your OG character at any time and yuu can skip the campaign once you beat it the first time.
how do you level up your char if you skip the campaign? doing dungeons over and over every season?
@Eren That would be one way plus other events and activities the game offers.
@@kr3515 sounds repetitive. Pass
@Vane every game is repetitive, just depends on what you enjoy repeating.
Ok down the road seasons maybe ok (but i personally prefer same character progression) but for season 1 no way average player maxes his character and we only have 1.5 month or less bedore season 1 starts. I guess they will introduce seasonal characters in season 2 the earliest.
