Omg I remember playing this game in my basement back in like 07 on our dying gamecube 😭 it was soooo weird now that I look back it at it, but when I was like 8 it was so much fun
I loved that "apartment" feeling that Urbz has, at that time, i had not a pc, so with this game i used to feel, i dunno, "free". It had a weird underground vibe. Also i think that the Sims Bustin'Out was the best for consoles by far, not only for the aesthetics, sounds were very apealling too
The Sims Bustin' Out. I have so many fond memories of that game. I remember getting Sims 2 on console too and while it was cool in that it was like a cut down PC version of The Sims, it just didn't have the personality or unique aspects Bustin' Out had. I remember seeing Urbz in stores occasionally and I think it would've been right up my alley like Bustin' Out. I wish Sims 4 would take more notes from Sims 2 and the console games. It gets a bit too sandboxy at times for me and the live mode gameplay is missing a lot of things those games had (Though it has the build/buy gameplay imo).
@@labombaromba Something between Urbz and Bustin' Out would have been the perfect sims for console. I don't know what they did with the Sims 4, it was only hype. It lacks everything that made the Sims a charismatic saga. Lack of animation, content, even the graphics, some people praises them, but i think they look washed out. I still in love with Sims 2, and i doubt that they make a Sims better than that one. MAKE EA GREAT AGAIN
Yeah I know your feeling, The Urbz is my favorite sims, specially the gba version, the game has that early 2000s vibe, big city life, underground feel. I really love it
Dang, I loved this game so much, it has a cozy feeling especially when playing at night with the lights off, the simglish version of the songs were really innovative and i love the robot fighting club at the foundary (If thats what its name is, i havent played this game over a decade)
The GBA game had the same sort of adventure game feel, with some light RPG elements to it. It was considered a sequel to Bustin' Out on the same system, where one of the major characters became a villain. Had a pretty decent story, too.
Duuude I loved that game! Real goofytown stuff, kinda sucked that my sister's created character also kept existing while i was playing without her, so her character lost all her reputation. Also there were a lot of weirdly programmed NPCs that rarely showed up and belonged to no area, loved to befriend them if I saw them so I could take control over them and dress them up better.
This was an awesome review man! I personally loved this game, Bustin Out', and The Sims 2 on console. However, besides those, the games on the 5th gen of consoles are lame as hell. Sims 2 Pets is dreadfully boring, and The Sims 1 on console is one of the most tedious games ever. However, Bustin Out' and Sims 2 are quite unique. As you stated in the review, Urbz is quite the nostalgic game. I personally think it was quite fun at the time, seeing as I didn't have a PC that could run any Sims title. Nowadays though, I'd pick up 1, 2 and/or 3 on PC anyday. It's cool that these sort of games could run on a console, but the PC games offer FAR more entertainment value to me. With majority of the Sims games being quite low end friendly, (Sims 3 is optimised, and Sims 2 is quite buggy though) I'd recommend the PC titles.
I played the GBA version of Urbz like you had no idea. I played it so hard that when i had to change the catridge for Advance Wars i started emulating the GBA Version on pc. I played the xbox too but i was sooooo into the GBA version for some weird reason.
Concerning the SPOILER section: I think it's worth noting that you basically take Darius' spot as the celebrity icon. Your face is plastered on all the billboards and marquees now. That's the end game. And this game was the tits! So much fun. I would play it and think "man, i wish my life would be like this when i'm older". Now that i'm 25, i think "damn i wish my life was like this so i could live it up with my friends". But we're broke 😂
I played this with my first crush. Got so much money just to impress her. Also first time being exposed to the "adult stuff" like moon bathing. Loved it, honestly. Too bad my save got corrupted.
i've still got this game, it was always one of those games that i played but never really got into that much, it probably would've done better marketing as a standalone game and not part of the sims franchise
The Urbz always eluded me as a kid bc I didn't understand the point. I started playing Bustin Out on my Gameboy again and it's better than I remember. Hopefully the Urbz will be that way too
I loved this as a kid , coming from The sims and the sims bustin out as we didn't have a pc it was a weird shift but its weirdness made it its own experience. The sims bustin out is hands down the best though.
i feel like this was an experimental game for the future of sims like sims 4 is very like this game in the sense of walking around town visiting diffrent areas and buildings
I loved Sims during that era, the console games were so good/weird and Sims 2 soo good 🥰 I never played the urbz but now I feel like I have to, though I have to recommend giving Sims Castaway a go, really fun spin on the whole thing.
The Urbz on Gameboy Advance was a great title. Improvement to the first game Bustin Out. Plus a great soundtrack made by Ian Stocker - check him out in a spare time Dont wory Im not Ian :P just a fan of his
Oh well. I should probably mention the fact that Sims for the Gameboy are not like PC Sims. More like adventure RPG :P but hey, at least it was really playable, and fun to play. Although Sims 2 you mentioned later is totally a different story. Especially one level being a TPP shooter ... Not to mention the failure Sims 2 Pets, the game that is all about pressing buttons frame perfectly
hey whats the song that you keep using throughout the video? I know its something from Maxis like theme hospital or simcity but im having trouble finding it
I was deeply confused when I got this on my PS2 as a kid, mom gave this to me and I remember thinking for months that I couldn't play the game without the eye toy, when I finally decided to try and play it I ended up with more questions then answers, never got to beat this game not have I seen it in second hand stores since but I'll have to pick it up again for some weird nostalgia

Unpopular opinion:
I actually liked this game.
I can agree with this.
It's my favorite Sims game.
Hey, it's that game displayed on The Sims 2's game shop shelf prop.
Neat review! It's really fun.
Strangest? more like stepping out into it's own creative boundary.
I actually liked it.
I feel as though mentioning that The Sims 4 is currently free on Origin is appropriate.
What's the dlc count up to now?
@@Flaming1100 over $1000 last i checked
@@classic_jam they are running weekly 50 percent off of each dlc per week, not to mention occasional sales. Still too expensive imo
It was free on PS4 too

The premise reminds me of the Saints Row series, with the whole "completing activities to gain reputation" thing
My First and Only Sims game i ever played, i had my fun on the gamecube with it :D
The GBA game had the same sort of adventure game feel, with some light RPG elements to it. It was considered a sequel to Bustin' Out on the same system, where one of the major characters became a villain. Had a pretty decent story, too.
Dude, it was epic. So many memories. It was a really fan game :)
Even the better graphic equivalents didn't make it for me the way ds/gba did
strange? you mean the most underated... it was awesome! simlish version of "let's get it started" is iconic.
I loooooved the Urbz for DS.
Wuish they would do something like that again.
I played the shit out of The Urbz back then on my DS
often think about it and how much its forgotten now

The sims urbz and sims bustin out was the best ones

By far my favorite "Sims" alternative universe.
i still own and play this game along with the complete sims 1-4.
Played this on the ps2 and never questioned the weirdness, looking back at it now... yeah a very bizzare game but i lowkey kinda enjoyed it haha

Oh Lord there it is, the memories..
My very first game boy game was the sims 2 bustin out, it's still one of my favorites, you should do a video on that game(: love your content btw.
My teens. This and the GBA/nds version were amazing, I'm still playing them from time to time.
Yes please! A video about The Sims 2 console. One of my favorite without any doubt
I legit finished the story for Urbz on GBA and DS about 5 times, planning on doing another lol
Haha oh dear... Never played this game, but it looks so over the top it actually seems fun :D
It is.
I played the GBA version of Urbz like you had no idea. I played it so hard that when i had to change the catridge for Advance Wars i started emulating the GBA Version on pc.
I played the xbox too but i was sooooo into the GBA version for some weird reason.

I remember playing this on Xbox. It got bugged near the end and the last villain failed to show up.
I had this for DS, and it was a worthy successor to Bustin' Out for GBA.
I remember playing the Sims bustin out using VBA and a pirated ROM
When I heard there was a sequel called The Urbz and wanted it so badly
the sims bustin out was so sick
dude I honestly miss a lot of the characters from Urbz..... not gonna lie 8 year old me would have risked everything for Ewan Watahmee.
Sims games in ps2 are all so fun, i had a lot of fun playing the urbz!
I really like this game review format!!
This game was my jam back in the day
i remember that game from my ps2 times, i personally think it's kinda unique and had it's own charm just like sims 2: castaway
fever dream
I played this with my first crush. Got so much money just to impress her.
Also first time being exposed to the "adult stuff" like moon bathing.
Loved it, honestly. Too bad my save got corrupted.
Remember though, the urbz is a way to get that game genre on the gba (and the various platforms that play said gba game).
I remember urbz in the city game on my gameboy advance
The Urbz Sims in the city was awesome
The urbz. Sims in the city was the first Sims game I played. It was on GameCube
Urbz joins the Scooby-Doo live action duology as things that are so early noughties it hurts.
i've still got this game, it was always one of those games that i played but never really got into that much, it probably would've done better marketing as a standalone game and not part of the sims franchise

Used to play this game all the time, it's pretty good though a bit buggy.
The way you say inventory scares me. INVENT-chorie
You can also customize areas in the game besides your apartment's. if I remember correctly you can paint the subway walls and stuff
The fact that this games has apartments and pets, which are dlc features of Sims 4, really annoys me to no end.
Played this game with my brother was awesome. And the DS version which was the best one.
Righteous, this is my favorite Sims game. I wish it was ported to PC.
Idk if someone said this yet but it wasn't called Sims urbz it was urbz Sims in the city
I really loved this game as a kid (and still do!). It's the reason I pulled my first all-nighter.
The URBZ is getting a 2020 reboot for mobile devices. If you wanna try the new game, hit us up at theurbz@animateobjects.net.
Urbz? Ah the memories playing that on the PS2.
I remember urbz in the city for the DS. I played that non stop.
I loved this as a kid , coming from The sims and the sims bustin out as we didn't have a pc it was a weird shift but its weirdness made it its own experience.
The sims bustin out is hands down the best though.
But Urbz has the best music out of all Sims games.
I have really great memories of this game and even better memories of the Sims 2 on PS2
The handheld version is so good. Utterly fantastic game for the GBA.
i feel like this was an experimental game for the future of sims like sims 4 is very like this game in the sense of walking around town visiting diffrent areas and buildings
Broooo I loved the ds/gba version I ordered a CIB DS copy
I just want to say the album is timeless. (Will.I. Am) songs
I loved Sims during that era, the console games were so good/weird and Sims 2 soo good 🥰 I never played the urbz but now I feel like I have to, though I have to recommend giving Sims Castaway a go, really fun spin on the whole thing.

Sims urbz and bustin out, played the hell out of them on my gba sp. Still play them every now and then.
Sure you do, Jeffrey.
Used to love this game back on the Xbox, still own a copy just lack an Xbox to play it on.
Does anybody remember the PSP version of Sims 2?? What a weird game.
It was fun on my DS. Heck I coined my gamer tag "NiteNinja" from Heidi Shadows, and used it ever since.
Not your usual style, but I like it.
this is the best Sims game, you can huff NOS, have nipple piercings that are the size of your palm and be mates with will I am
The sims urbz was a really weird game, but i love it nonetheless haha

play the gba version. it's excellent
